I love the food at bar taco, so fresh and tasty. The atmosphere is also great!! Love the taco tray! It never disappoints, and for my husband and I, it is the perfect amount of food. That being said, the service is almost always terrible!! Every single time I go there, something our table ordered doesn't show or they bring food we didn't order. The servers are on this tag team plan where one takes your order, another rings it in, another brings your drinks, whatever...the system sucks! It's kind of like the telephone game but with ordering food. So, your order one thing, but it gets lost in translation and what they bring you is totally different. Anyhow, my three stars are for the awesome food but haven't been going back bc the poor service really distracts from the dining experience. Bar Taco is the perfect place for a variety of taco choices and very affordable. Every time I come i get the tomatillo salsa and guacamole to start and the fish tacos and the chorizo tacos for my entree and usually get one different taco every time to try new things. But today I stuck with what I knew 2 fish and 1 chorizo. The tomatillo salsa is so good, acidic, and chunky and the guac is always perfectly seasoned. I have never been to Bartaco before. This night, I joined 5 friends for some .margaritas and tacos. They called ahead and got a table for 4, but two more friends were coming last minute. When we got there, the server who had already seated and greeted the first two friends greeted us also. We told him that our party had grown and he seemed to acknowledge it, walking away with urgency to maybe figure it out for us? We saw him walk by a few times but didn't come back. We stood in the middle of the patio waiting for him to return with a solution for the extra two guests- he didn't. I went to him at the server area and told him we were waiting and he informed me that we had to put our names back on the waiting list for a table as 6 since we were not 4 anymore. I was shocked he had abandoned us and then never communicated the issue or resolution. Thankfully a host was near and overheard- she was able to figure it out easily (there was an empty table right next to us!). Why didn't the server just do that?? We finally ordered drinks and tacos. Margaritas, Baja Tacos and Ahi Poke Bowl. Our drinks came soon after but our food.. seemed.. to.. take.. forever!! Our server came back only once during that time to fill water but never really asked about refills for our drinks- i had to waive him down again to ask about another drink. Even then, he didn't ask the table he just refilled mine. We were so confused! Don't drinks make you money?? In any case, we were over it and ready to go. Two of our friends paid and left and we were ready to also. I hit the restroom and when I came back one friend had pulled the manager over to discuss the issues of the night. Brandon was his name and he seemed very accommodating. He apologized and took care of our entire check. Very nice of him to repair the damages from the evening. We thanked him and left soon after. Maybe I'm the only one who doesn't love Bartaco. I've been here twice this year - once for a late lunch and recently, for a light dinner. I call it a light dinner because the portions are fairly small unless you're going to order half a rotisserie chicken. I've had the tacos: their Baja Fish and their Pork belly. Both tasted great, but they're small. They're expensive bites, which I understand, because it's probably quality vs size. But besides dainty tacos, I don't understand why people like this place so much. In the evenings, even on a rainy Wednesday, this place is bursting at the seams with people. Maybe it's better mexican food than Tin Lizzy's down the road, or what of Superica in the next shopping center? Service was fine and attentive. My review for Bartaco (this location particularly) is wayyyy overdue. I've gone here/gotten takeout from here easily 50+ times, & I'm glad that I finally have a taco place that is a worthy successor to La Perla. For me it's an excellent blending of Mexican with American culinary attitudes- street tacos with corn tortillas, onion, cilantro, & lime, made with creative fillings like pork belly & guava glaze and shredded duck with tamarind glaze. This works out really well for me because I don't eat beef or offal, so at Bartaco I have more options than I do at a Buford taco joint (not discounting their awesomeness, I'm just picky). Speaking of the duck tacos- THEY ARE AMAZING. Seriously, the combination of the duck & tamarind is savory, spicy, sweet, & sour all at once, it's a blissful flavor explosion. Highly highly HIGHLY recommend them!!! Seriously, I've come back 3 days in a row just for the duck tacos. The baja fish & pork belly tacos are my other favorites, although I wish the pork belly tacos were a little more consistent- sometimes they're melt-in-your-mouth, and sometimes they're a bit chewy. Guacamole, salsa verde, margaritas, churros, & key lime pie are all super delicious! The margaritas aren't the cheapest ever, but they're made with fresh limes and good-quality tequila. When I come here with family we usually get a pitcher & all end up with a nice buzz, which is exactly what you want from your margarita. I also have to give the staff here their due for making dining here (or taking out) an absolute pleasure. All of the managers I've met here have been awesome, friendly, and take customer hospitality seriously. Jeff & Sanjay are always on top of things, checking on everyone, & make you feel like you're a welcome guest. On the rare occasions where something is slightly off, the staff always handles it with grace, courtesy, & professionalism. That's part of why I bring EVERYONE to Bartaco- my best friend, my grandmother, my parents, my boyfriend's parents- because I know anyone can find something they'll love on the menu, and if anything goes wrong it will be swiftly rectified. We ended up sitting right next to the bathrooms on a small table, depsite their being many avaialble seats on the side of the bench and booths. We were astonished by the prices of the tacos for how small they were whcih our waitress had told us they were the size of out palms. ATTENTION: if you are hungry and craving tacos this is not the place to be as the tacos are pricy and way less than the normal proportinal size of a traditional taco. The tacos were very tasty, but it just was not worth the price. One of my friends also got a duck bowl. The duck was really flavorful, but the rice on the other hand was just dry and tasted like it had been sitting out for a couple of hours. I don't even know how this is considered a dine-in restaurant with all of their COVID-19 changes. The ordering process has essentially become an extremely expensive self-service mobile system since Covid-19. When the servers/ runners did bring food or drinks out they avoided all eye contact and immediately darted away... because god forbid we ask for additional items such as straws for our drinks or silverware for our food. This Bartaco is one of my favorite locations! The waitstaff are friendly, and helpful. My fiance loves to sit at the bar, and we do so often when we visit Bartaco. When you sit at the bar, you'll get a front row seat to the way margaritas are made at this restaurant, which is with fresh limes, agave and none of the junk in many Mexican restaurants. This high-quality approach to drinks also extends to Bartaco's food. You won't find the mass produced queso or guacamole that other restaurants in this genre typically produce. Instead, you'll find freshly made guacamole, street-inspired tacos, incredible grilled corn and more. My favorite items are the fried oyster taco, grilled corn (ask for off the cob for easy eating) and the pork tamale. My only complaint with Bartaco is that the tacos are tiny (which is intended) and it's a bit more expensive than your average restaurant (but you get what you pay for with fresh ingredients). If you don't want to sit at the bar, there's ample tables inside and a lovely patio. If you're here in the winter, they have a outdoor fireplace and space heaters for the outdoor area, and in the summer, they'll open up the garage-like doors to make the space more cohesive. We then sat outside for about 90 minutes while their hapless staff just bumbled around. Absolutely horrible experience. A server who couldn't explain the very strange ordering system. (Write your own order down. Different checks? Use different slips. Food will be combined altogether when it arrives. How will we know which gets what? She says we will just have to sort it out. Then she walks away with our blank slips so we have nothing to order with, so we steal them from a nearby table.). She then disappears completely while a manager comes by 20 mins later for purely social reasons and has an awkward and almost inappropriate conversation with us. More than 45 minutes go by with nothing but chips and salsa. We flag down the Manager who says "Your order has only been in for 10 minutes." That's the first of many strange and less than truthful things we hear. Finally two of our party of four's 14 tacos arrive with the sides for one person. Another 15 minutes pass with no one coming to our table. By this point we are in jeopardy of missing our show, and really let the manager have it. She tells us "it's just how we do things, to bring the food out in waves, sporadically". Really? Don't lie to us. That is exactly opposite of what server said about everything coming at once. And it takes more than an hour? We know there has been a horrible mistake made and we're being told we just don't understand how it's supposed to work. At least she says the whole meal will be comped - except we have to pay for drinks. (Only two of us had cocktails) Finally an hour and 15 minutes after we sat down some more of the tacos arrive, but several items missing and were never brought. The final straw - the smiling server pops by for first time in nearly an hour for a "how's it going guys?" She has no clue our meal has been a disaster and no idea that the manager was involved and had comped our dinner. Guess what? She brings us a $60 check anyway. Never again. I get it when the restaurant is full and busy - mistakes happen. GOOD management will take control and do what it takes to make things right. BAD management lies, covers up, blames the guests for not understanding how things are done, and doesn't even bother to work with the server. This restaurant has an extremely bad service concept, and management that has absolutely no idea what they are doing. Stay away. read more

We came here as a party of four for an early dinner to celebrate a birthday. There was a slight wait to be seated but it wasn't bad. Our server was phenomenal from start to finish. He was very attentive and checked on us often, not disappearing after the food arrived like so many do. Since three of us hadn't been here before, we ordered a small tray so everyone could taste a bit of everything. We had the baja fish, pork pastor, spicy chorizo and I think one more type of taco. Everything was fresh and seasoned perfectly. Our sides were brown rice and grilled corn. The corn was great! Who knew corn could taste so good. The guac was tasty as well and I'm usually not a fan. Despite being stuffed, we got a few desserts to share. As expected, those too were delicious. The birthday boy had a great time out and we all had a great meal to boot. I met up with three friends here after work yesterday, and we had a great time! We sat out on the patio by the fireplace. Bartaco has a really great atmosphere! The tacos were great. We asked our waiter to run through the ingredients of each taco because the menu really only gives you the protein the taco comes with. He was super knowledgeable and was able to rattle off the ingredients for every taco. Tacos are $2.50 or $3.50 each depending on the taco. I ordered the Duck, Baja Fish, and Tuna tacos in lettuce shells. All were excellent! Service was great. A little slow to get our checks, but really nice staff. Glad I tried this place. Welp. I literally NEVER leave a bad review so it pains me to write this. My husband and I asked to be seated indoors, so we were sat indoors by a door leading to the patio. No problem, that's fine. Until another family's kids (4 little girls) decided to run in and out of the door... holding the door wide open for 15 mins. We asked the manager if he could kindly ask the parents to stop their kids from running in and out of the building and also stop bumping into my husbands chair. The manager tells us that there is nothing he can do because he can't tell "people how to parent their kids." Which makes zero sense as this is a safety hazard ... bumping into chairs and playing in a door way. Even with that mentioned he still said "yeah unless they are posing a danger to other patrons, there's nothing we can do." Again, they repeatedly bumped into my husbands chair. We politely left and will not be back. I have never been to a restaurant that allowed multiple kids to run in and out of the door behind paying customers. I came here with a big group for my best friend's birthday back in February and didn't have the best experience. But the food was so good I wanted to give it another try. So I decided to come when it wasn't so busy with my parents. My parents hadn't been here before so the waiter explained how everything works and was helpful. My parents were impressed watching an employee juice 22 limes (Yes. My dad counted). Hopefully she wasn't creeped out at them staring. We started out with 2 margaritas, chips with salsa verde, plantains, tuna poke, 3 oyster tacos, 3 fish tacos, 3 pork belly, and 2 chorizo tacos. Everything was tasty especially the margarita. The waiter verifies you get all the tacos you order when he brings it out. We were missing an oyster taco but he came back quickly with the 3rd. We finished everything and decided to order some more oyster tacos, tuna poke and decided to try the shrimp "bahn mi" taco and a sesame rib eye taco. I highly recommend all the tacos that we ordered except the shrimp and rib eye taco. The shrimp taco didn't wow me with any flavor and the sesame rib eye taco was salty and just wasn't good. Definitely love Bartaco's margaritas and oyster tacos. I don't recommend coming here with a big group just keep it small and you probably won't have any problems. read more

Tacos from LtoR are Baja fish, pork belly (no pickled onions), short rib (no kimchi), and duck taco. The duck is A MUST TRY! Like for real. And their yellow habanero sauce...I put that sh*t on errthang! Also, I think I started a new trend. Now I love bartaco but this location is not my favorite. Try the midtown location. Food is the same but service is more uplifting and energetic. ANYWAY more about this location. Drinks are great. I have ordered pickup from bar taco on several occasions and was a fan of their oyster taco which are not on the menu anymore. I thought that I would drop by today and I ordered pickup once again. I ordered the crispy rock shrimp tacos which turned out to be fried breading. There was not a shrimp in sight, and it seemed old. I ended up throwing it away..This will be the last time that I pay 1st only to not be satisfied. They need to do quality checks and the lady who bagged my order was very rude. The rest of my order was just ok.....Superica here I come... Never Bar taco again. ========================= Update: I had to update this review, because about 10 minutes after I posted the review the general manager reached out to me. I didn't realize it (i.e. that he had reached out) until the next morning, but that was very nice of him. The expediency in rectifying the situation exceeded my expectations. 5 stars for the General Manager. We all make mistakes, but how you respond to them makes all of the difference. Well, I thought I would grab a taco while I was out shopping today. I'd never been to Bartaco before so gave it a shot. When entering the hostess lumped me in with two other people ahead of me. She tried to steer them to the bar, but they wanted a table...(wow). I went to the bar and didn't get noticed there. I then realized there was a to go counter in the back, so went there. A server didn't ask me if I needed help but assumed I was there to pick up an order. I asked if I could order and he said yes. I asked about the swordfish taco and he explained it had slaw on it. I didn't want slaw, but he said he would let me taste it first. He came back to tell me that they had to make some. I asked if I could just get lettuce, cheese and cilantro and he said that was fine. He told me that one taco was only a couple of bites. I said for $3.50? He said yes, but I didn't want more than that. Several minutes later I received a pretty boring small taco. There was some lettuce on it a rind of lime (with no actual lime), no cheese and no cilantro. I told the server that I had ordered cheese and cilantro. He goes back and says "Oh here it is..." Um? Wow, wasn't a difficult order.... He gave me a spoonful of each of the hot sauces after I asked, none of which were hot. Disappointing for sure, and for one two bite taco, this should not have been a bad review, but there you go. Needless to say, it was ridiculous and won't be back. read more

I enjoyed this location of Bartaco. Needed a quick bite before a movie and it fit the bill on a Sunday afternoon. Bar service was quick and super friendly with Carlos - what a sweetheart! I went with one of my favorites, the duck rice bowl and a side of the corn, both good and satisfying. The mint lemonade was also made fresh and very good.
