Boston was hot and steamy and abuzz with Scottish World Cup fans flocking in to the city. I stopped into bartaco for a quick lunch, and the chic atmosphere with indoor and outdoor dining, and incredibly upbeat staff seemed to match the excitement permeating throughout the city leading up to a summer weekend. I was eager to try a variety of tacos, though I was warned the tacos are quite small. It was a fair warning. I ordered 5 tacos, and expected to leave stuffed, but I was hungry again by 4:00pm. Eeeek. These are 3-bite tacos. Although small, I enjoyed the flavors of all the tacos I tasted. My favorites were the seafood varieties. 1) Baja fish - really crispy batter, creamy, spicy slaw 2) Yucatán shrimp - great texture, and spicy bean-like plantain puree. The pork belly was sweet, but a bit dry. In addition to the picked red onions, it could have used another saucy component. The carnitas and chorizo tacos were also good, but were less interesting for my palate. My five tacos were $20, without any sides or drinks. y'all... this mid lol. as a texan, i was thoroughly unimpressed. tacos were dry and unseasoned (even the fun pork belly and roast duck, and somehow the salsas kinda made things worse)... guac had not a lick of onion or tomato (tasted like straight up mash). kale caesar and corn was a lovely respite though, definitely recommend! the happy hour seems fun and like a good deal until you realize they are literally 1-2 bites per item. we ordered all the light bites and nothing was really worth writing home about. drinks were fun and it was cool to see the juicers in action. servers were lovely as was the space. otherwise, please, just go to a LOCAL mexican OWNED restaurant !!!!! read more

Visited bartaco Seaport and had a really enjoyable meal overall. The tacos were definitely the highlight. They were flavorful, fresh, and perfect for sharing so you can try a few different options. The bowl was okay, but it didn't stand out as much compared to the tacos. The service was quick and attentive at the beginning of our meal. As the restaurant got busier, things slowed down a bit and it became a little harder to flag someone down. That said, the staff were still friendly throughout the experience. Overall, it's a fun spot in Seaport with a great atmosphere, especially if you're craving tacos. I'd definitely come back and stick with ordering more tacos next time! read more

Nicholas Golini, manager, was extremely friendly, hospitable & welcoming. We were there on July 5th for a light supper when he introduced himself to us. He encouraged us to return & when we did, a week later, he welcomed us back & we enjoyed our dinner immensely! My partner had 3 super delicious tacos & I had a wonderful Korean Bowl with Korean BBQ, spinach, kimchee on rice. The 1st time I had pork belly bowl-so yummy! I was shocked and impressed at the same time! The atmosphere was a whole vibe--completely different from the Port Chester location. When a full-on DJ came on around 8pm, I was definitely caught off guard, but it added to the energy. My only issue was the waiting system. Putting your name on a list while people monopolize the bar isn't ideal, but we made the most of it. We were quoted a 30-minute wait and did have to apply a little pressure to finally get seated. While waiting, I grabbed margaritas at the bar, and wow--the bartenders are extremely talented. They freshly squeezed the limes and handcrafted each drink. Very professional, and honestly the best margaritas I've had in the States. The food was rockstar-level, and the menu is very price-friendly. One thing to note: you have to order everything at once, so keep that in mind. Once the food hits the table, you likely won't see your server again until the bill. That said, the ceviche was top-tier, and the Korean beef bowl was splendid. Do not skip the plantains with the cilantro sauce on the side you won't be disappointed! The falafel taco was a O/5 for me. The menu said it would be spice but the spice felt completely random and didn't complement or enhance other flavors. The falafel were also pretty dry. I love when I find a good (decent by CA standards) Mexican food spot in Boston! I especially liked the chips and guac because they do taco shells instead of chips and I think it helps so much with portion control because usually you fill up so much on the chips that you're full by the time you're ordering your entree. There was also this incredible black pepper? salsa that I could not get enough of. I also had the sesame ribeye, the baja fish, and the chicken verde tacos and I really liked all, particularly the fish. Quite frankly, if I were to change anything I would just opt for the carne asada instead of the sesame ribeye because it looked more appealing when my roommate ordered it, but I liked this bulgogi-ish take on tacos nonetheless. I do want to shoutout Simon's service at the bar. He was so personable and fun and truly made it a fun dining experience for us. Food was DELICIOUS. We each had 3 tacos. I had the mushroom, shrimp and fried oyster. My friend had shrimp, chicken and pork. We devoured them and savored every bite. I wanted to leave space for ice cream afterwards but I think I would have felt completely satisfied with 4 tacos instead of 3. Just as yummy as the OG location near my home town! Bartaco is so well priced for the quality of food. It is thoughtful and flavorful and super impressive for a chain Mexican spot. Prices are totally affordable. I personally love the kids plate. I'm simple and it's a ton of food for under $10. We got that and a few other tacos, bowls and apps to share. The corn wheels are literally straight out of heaven. Drinks are yummy. I had the punch and it was only $10 and was not disappointing at all. I run a beverage Instagram and that drink was high quality! We did have a few issues. Our original waitress wasn't super helpful and was kind of a wet noodle. They also said they had $8 margaritas on rainy days, and we were told only at the bar. It didn't say that at all in the promo online. The ambiance is so nice here. The food was so good I forgot to take photos! Favorite here is the Baja fish taco- deep fried and crispy, served with some slaw in a soft corn tortilla shell. Looking to show my friend the Seaport area, we decided to walk from our hotel to Bartaco. It was pretty crowded when we arrived so rather than wait for a table, we opted for the first-come, first-serve bar area. Luckily, we we managed to snag two spots at the bar and enjoyed our meal there. The bartender was extremely kind and engaging. She was attentive to our order and our drinks. We decided to start with an order of guacamole, salsa, and chips. I really loved both the red and the green salsa. You can tell that they are made fresh. For my meal, I decided to do one Carnitas taco and one chili lime shrimp taco. Both were stuffed full of ingredients and tasted delicious. My friend and I also split a side order of corn (esquites) with lobster. Despite being decadent, this was probably my least favorite of the dishes. The lobster felt out of place with the dish. My friend also ordered a duck birria taco and said it was to die for. All in all, if you have never been to a Bartaco location before, come check this one out. read more

I grabbed pickled cucumbers as an appetizer which had some red pepper flakes giving it the perfect amount of bite, had the seasoned corn on the cob which was small but perfect as I didn't want to fill up on that. Came into Bartaco Seaport for a late dinner. The manager Hollywood was super welcoming and friendly. I decided to sit at the bar. Both the bartenders were very attentive, funny, and made amazing drinks. I ordered the ahi tuna crispy rice bowl. It was delicious. The sauce was sweet and tied in with all the flavors, the crispy rice had great texture and there was a few pieces of ahi. The spicy margarita was made with squeezed juice. It was perfectly refreshing and spicy. The churros was kinda of dense and doughy. I prefer my churros fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. It comes with dipping sauces. The decor is beautiful inside. Parking is difficulties the area. Stays open late. Overall, great atmosphere, great food, exceptional customer service. read more

Went here for a quick lunch between trains at south station. Was super easy to get to and find. The service was incredible and our server was attentive and answered all of our questions. We got the chips and salsa to starts and it was so fresh. My husband got the carne asada tacos and then we also got pork and I can't remember the third one but all of them were so fresh and yummy. I absolutely LOVE this place. The first time I went was in Nashville and this is my second time, but in Boston. They're consistent with the food and service. I also love how they have a giveback program tied to their menu. If you order a certain taco, they donate part of the proceeds to a charity. They rotate the taco each time and it's noted on the menu when you order. I came for dinner around 7:45pm on Wednesday and they were decently full, but I was still able to find a spot at the bar. My server, Dani (or Danny - not sure how she spelt it) was AMAZING! She was so sweet and was so patient when I asked repetitive questions. The food and drinks. Just wow. I love the tequila and Mezcal selections they had. The flight was a great way to sample some of them. I really like how their tacos are so small and reasonably priced. Each one is like 2-3 bites and I can get multiple to try all different flavors. Bar-taco is a must if you at Boston Seaport. The ambience is good besides the tables being so close to each other. Every time someone gets up to go to the restroom made me feel I was in their way. TL;DR: These aren't hyper-traditional tacos, nor as they supposed to be. These little pieces of heaven are delicious, varied, creative, and balanced. Ever since, I've truly embraced that concept! Yelp is chock-full of simple and effective reviews; the kind that would make Sebastian Maniscalco* happy. These are a paragraph, maybe two, not a 18-page essay on asparagus! Maniscalco unabashedly called me out as at times I write up to the character limit! Sometimes even past it, having to trim and summarize while cursing under the my breath. So, I have some Story-Times for you: 1. When I was younger, my parents would always buy pulp free OJ. That was until one day they bought "Grovestand" loaded with it. You know something? We all loved it! 2. I have been on a quest to find the best taco in the greater Boston area. The best I've been able to come up with is in Manchester, NH (until now, hooray!). 3. I once bought one of the spicier hot sauces I saw on Hot Ones, the "Morita Bourbon Maple Reaper." Delicious and hot, but manageable, despite having reaper peppers in the mix. I say this so you get an idea of my spice tolerance. 4. I once tried a Dyson vacuum with that laser-enhanced brush head. Sounds like a gimmick - it is not. With that out of the way, onwards! First, the margaritas: I had the opportunity to try the regular and spicy Bartaco Margarita. I thought the limes being squeezed in front of you was a gimmick, it is not. This makes the drinks as fresh as they get, and the teeny bit of lime pulp that makes it in adds to the freshness. The margs themselves were top-notch! They were superbly balanced in all domains. The house tequila they use was smooth as silk. I didn't *think* these were too boozy, until I felt like dancing on the bar top after one (slight exaggeration, but you get my drift). Final note: the spicy margarita is properly spicy - I am not saying you cannot handle it, but I am saying this is not for the faint of heart and/or those who think green Cholula is hot. Then there were the tacos - I will [uncharacteristically] spare you from agonizing detail on each of the eight tacos I ate. However, I will say these were all distinct, interesting, creative, and of course, mouthwateringly flavorsome! The protein is not skimped on, nor is it falling out. Similar to the spicy marg, the spicy ones were fire! I mean.... can I get a glass of milk, please?! (j/k - but not really). My only critique is that in the pork belly taco, while delicious, the protein was a little tough. Otherwise, all around fantastic, and I didn't even reach for the homemade hot sauces. There is a time and place for authentic, meat/onion/cilantro tacos. However, sometimes you want something a little more fun, and this is the case with Bartaco. Speaking of fun, the location is modern and hip, and despite being very busy, the service is kind, attentive, and speedy. A great atmosphere for a Friday night without having to bring earplugs. I'm not about the club scene, anyway. As for value, while $3-4 per taco is not the cheapest around, the eight tacos I ate (a large helping, if I say so myself) came out to ~$30. Not at all bad for the quality and location! Similar with the margaritas, $13.50 in light of everything seems more than reasonable! * No shade intended, he is genuinely hilarious, and can call me and my antics out any day the week. read more
