I've been to Bartaco a handful of times over the last few years, and it never seems to disappoint. It's a good spot for just about any occasion. I've been for birthday dinners, a graduation party, and a coworker holiday lunch. During weekday lunch, it's definitely more of a corporate crowd, but on the weekends/eveningw, it's more of a mix. The food is very solid, and there are lots of options. Mexican isn't exactly the greatest in Boston, so that makes this place and easy win. If you're going for the tacos, make sure to order a few, because they're on the smaller side. Love that they have funky options like glazed pork belly and tuna tatako. Our first time here & we had an AMAZING time. The service was extremely fast and efficient. The decor is fun & cute. Doesn't feel too overcrowded and the atmosphere is welcoming. We were helped majorly by Sam and Priscilla. You definitely do not want to skip the duck birria quesadilla. It was our favorite of the whole meal. You can order a couple of things for the table and you will leave stuffed. It's tough to beat west coast Mexican food, this place was alright. I needed a quick lunch spot with some colleagues so they opted for this spot and I wasn't too satisfied. My overall review is that the price can't be justified for the quality of the food. I ordered the rice bowl with spiced chicken verde chile + herb marinade w/ aguacate salsa. It was topped with a few bell peppers but I wish I had more veggies or maybe some pico de gallo. It wasn't a bad dish but it didn't really taste like "upscale" Mexican food. I also ordered the plantains and they were very good! They were very ripe and sweet and paired with a sour cream based side dip. The online billing system is not the best. You're required to ordered through your phone and pay via phone as well. If you don't close your bill I'm a timely period then an automatic gratuity is added. Came into this taco joint with a bigger party with a work event. The location is great - easily accessible from several offices in the area. They only had outdoor seating for us which was decent(but it was kind of toasty that day sadly). The ordering system requires a QR code which is kind of cool, but also kind of annoying at the same time. A manager had to come resolve some issues for us in person. If you're in a big group, it can feel a bit troublesome. I'd probably prefer to order things the old fashion way for the group we had. The menu had a great variety of taco options. I was definitely surprised to see duck on the list - you don't see that everywhere. It was also a nice touch that you could swap tortillas for lettuce wraps in case you're looking for something lighter. I enjoyed a lunch combo with tortilla soup and three tacos. Definitely a solid filling. The tacos felt slightly pricey, but I think that might be the going rate for street tacos + being in seaport probably doesn't help either. You order by selecting what meals you want on their provided menu and pencils. The "waiter" takes the menu orders and your food is later brought out. The tacos were also very good, but again, small. I recommend ordering at least 3 tacos per person. Now for the complaints. Our waters were never refilled. We never saw our "waiter" again. Sitting in the hot sun we kept looking for someone to come by and bring us some more water. We had to go and find him for our check too as we waited about 20 minutes before going to find him. At this point, the restaurant was not busy. They messed up our order multiple times. They first brought us the wrong size guac and charged us for it. We ordered a small, were given a large and were charged for it. Went here before a concert last weekend, and everything about the experience was fantastic. Very friendly waitstaff, delicious drinks, and the food was fresh and flavorful! Atmosphere 4/5 - Depending on the time of day/night, can be very loud and not the best option for children. Plenty of seating but highly recommend jumping on the waitlist. Food/Drinks 3/5 - We had a variety of tacos (fish, duck, pork belly, shrimp) but not one jumps out as a must get. Duck doesn't seem common in other taco places so perhaps that's one to try. Not gonna lie, my expectations were low. It's a chain and I try to go to non-chain when I travel, but it was dark out (meaning it was like 6pm) and it was right next to our hotel, and dinner was needed. I stayed really simple and on the lighter side because all we did in Boston is eat and drink delicious (and heavy) food, so I did the kids chicken quesadilla and the chicken tortilla soup. I was shocked how much flavor the soup had - good heat, not too thick, and with the chips on the side it had a satisfying crunch. I ordered a side of avocado to go on top of my quesadilla and it was also enjoyable. Good char marks on the quesadilla, good amount of cheese and chicken, and the avocado on top was a delight.
