Absolutely the crappiest burger, pre pressed laser thin patty, soggy grease soaked bun, wilted lettuce that isn't even green really, tomatoe was like old and over ripe, the fries were over done and seemed to be ends and pieces and the tots were over cooked and way to crunchy to enjoy not to mention the fryer grease is old and that makes the fried food too dark colored... The husband and I stopped in there today on the way home from the Bull & Gelding sale in Red Bluff... We have lived up here for about 20 years and had never dropped in. The husbands big burger was big! I order the regular and it was perfect. The fries we kind of shoestring and oh so tasty. They have a fry sauce that was really tasty and not your typical ketchup/mayo combo... I did not ask was the special ingredient was but it was really good. The prices we within reason the portions we also reasonable. It was so much better then chain food and as we liked to do it felt good to support a local business. I'm very very very disappointed. This week's lunch was very disappointing to the extent we will not return. Don't expect to have a quick lunch before returning to work. We waited for over 25 minutes and were finally served hamburgers that were so cold along with the fries. Not to mention the super small drink which is a total joke. After another couple complained about the wait, they were told it was usually 15-20 minutes before serving. Had it only been that long for us maybe the hamburgers would have still been edible. You can't go wrong with Bartel's juicy, home style cheeseburgers. I think what makes Bartel's unique, they use red onions. Makes all the difference. You can eat indoors or outdoors. I'll put one star...for the food. The food was the only decent thing that came out of the visit. The most terrible customer service we have ever had at any fast food restaurant. The lady taking orders was so extremely friendly to everybody in line before us, saying how "oh here's my favorite customers!!" laughing, having a good time. Then we get to the counter...her whole demeanor changed. Instantly looked pissed off. Felt extremely judged, had no patience whatsoever. We have tattoo's, a lot of them. So she most likely decided in her head that we were terrible people. She took our order, threw our receipt away, and didn't give us our change back. Our meal was $25.02, we gave her $26. When we went back up to ask for our change, she freaked out saying "I never do this" She seemed so air headed and didn't know what to do. She had to pull out a calculator to give us change back...really? 26-25.02, is easily 98 cents. A first grader doesn't need a calculator for that. THEN, she gave us back $1.02. Wow. read more

We both asked for well done, mine was not well done by any means but edible and tasted alright. My husbands on the other hand was PINK, Too pink, inedible pink. The fry sauce should now be called mayo with a hint of ketchup. Not enough to taste or smell like anything other than mayo. Also chunks of mayo in "fry sauce". For 17 dollars I expect a whe lot more in quality and will not return. Oh and one more thing the girl taking our order didn't ask me what I wanted on my burger or offer different cheese. Another old fashioned run down dump. However, the Giant Burger is in my humble opinion the absolute BEST burger I have eaten in my life. They have that right combination of quality local beef, right grill temperature, buns, etc. I LOVE how they have thin and very crispy fries, and their fry sauce is the second best I have ever had. For some reason, they always seem to hire 400 pound ladies who have a not so nice disposition (not being sexist or against anyone heavy, I just think its weird that it has always been that way for the last 25 years or so). You may have to wait a bit for your order during lunch time, deal with limited seating and high prices, but it is fresh and fantastic. If you have a little time, give them a try. read more
