They make their bagels fresh daily and have a nice variety of options. The everything bagel, asiago, chocolate chip, blueberry, they're all delightful. The bagels are great. The staff is always super friendly. They work hard and fast to get the job done. The docked star is for one reason only. The owner is an absolute jerk. He may be nice in his store, I may have just run into him on three bad days. But he has left scolding notes on my car when I guess I parked in 'his' unmarked space twice once in one month, one of the times I parked there to patronize HIS store. Another interaction I had with him was up on Oak street when I passed him while driving about 4 mph. He basically turned into a screaming tomato yelling at the top of his lungs telling me to slow down. Take a breathe dude. You were beyond out of the way and I couldn't have been going slower. You need to remember that you are a business owner within a community and taking out your rage on people who patronize your store doesn't help anyone. read more

The bagel itself was great. I got wheat, which you sort of have to judge on a curve, but it had a nice texture and good balance of crust and inside. The egg sandwich itself was mediocre. It comes with salsa as a default, which I wouldn't recommend. Otherwise, all good. They had a nice variety of flavors, efficient service, and good prices. read more

I went in there on Veterans Day 2020 I asked if they had a veterans discount. He said no. But not everyone does OK. So instead of getting a dozen bagels due to no discount I ordered one bagel after some confusion he threw a cookie next to my bagel and said must buy five dollars didn't understand what he was saying at first till he pointed to the side and I was like whatever and I left. He couldn't say in English five dollar minimum for debit purchase and was upset I couldn't understand him. I love this place for their delicious bagels and bagel sandwiches but every time I go in here it looks more and more dilapidated inside. We went this morning and the drywall all around the front facing windows is completely water damaged. I understand this kind of building maintenance is costly but it's really getting me concerned. The bagels here are to die for. So fresh, so airy, so soft. I am obsessed. I particularly love the blueberry, cranberry, and honey wheat bagels. I like getting a bagel toasted with cream cheese and sometimes add cucumber. They make bagel breakfast sandwiches too (with egg, salsa and cheese). They also sell bundles of day old bagels and have a variety of cream cheeses to-go. They can get busy on the weekend but the line moves pretty fast. Street parking is easy. I give the actual bagels 5 stars, but the service? I'm being nice giving 2 stars. I've been going to Barton's for my bagels since they opened because, in Marin, they have the best bagels. HOWEVER, the customer service has gone WAY downhill. So much so that I think I'll just stop going for a while. This morning, I had my second negative experience there, so I am posting a review. I'm not the kind of person to post reviews but I hope that the owner will read this and the other negative reviews and make some changes. About 1 year ago I decided only to get my bagels to go and do them at home for 2 reasons: 1. Sloppily made, cream cheese barely smeared on one side 2. People working there are not able to understand English and getting my order wrong. SO, I can make them the way they should be made at home. BUT this morning, in a rush, I decided to give it a try and get one made to go. My hope was the man making the bagel would get it right, WRONG! Not only was he RUDE, I ordered an onion bagel toasted with OLIVE cream cheese and sliced tomato. When I drove away and bit into the bagel, there were most definitely no olives in it. I kept biting, hoping I'd get an olive. So, I did have time to eventually go back and when I did they were even more RUDE when it was THEIR MISTAKE. The woman behind the register asked me if I speak Spanish and I said no (wouldn't I be speaking to her in Spanish if I did?) And how rude would that be for me to ask her, or both of them if they speak English? (That's another rant). Anyhoo, when I told the man who made the bagel that I ordered the olive cream cheese and showed him that it was plain cream cheese he had the nerve to get the container with the olive cream cheese to show me, and I said yes, I kept biting and there was NOT ONE OLIVE. So, he questioned me and thought I was lying!! WHY would I waste my time going back to ask them politely by the way to make me another bagel? He hurriedly and annoyingly made me another one with the cream cheese I originally ordered, no apology, just plain RUDE, and again, the bagel was made VERY SLOPPY and he clearly did not have a reason to rush because it was slow at that time (IMO it doesn't matter if it's busy, a business making food needs to offer consistent care to the quality and presentation of their food). I have worked in deli's, making sandwiches, restaurants, serving food, as a barista before going into teaching. I have ZERO tolerance for rude, incompetent people working in the service industry. I get that they have to deal with rude customers but after reading the other reviews, Barton better hire some quality people to work behind the counter because he will lose business over his rude, incompetent employees. Either that or TRAIN THEM, teach them how to make a bagel, and be kind. Long rant, sorry. Done! read more

Barton's is the best! I shop there 2-3 times a month. I've tried other bagel shops and always return to Barton's. I recommend they're all seed, rye and potato pepper bagels. For a sweet treat, try the cinnamon sugar bagels. Lots of good spreads too. read more

Great local bagel shop. They have everything that you would expect plus little extras that put Barton's above and beyond. The have a wide variety of bagels and cream cheeses, breakfast sandwiches and bagel dogs. They offer espresso bar coffees and have a wide variety of juices and drinks in the refrigerated section. You cannot go wrong ordering the cinnamon sugar bagel warmed up with butter. Divine. (Note that they aren't in the bagel window, but on the counter.) They also make delicious chocolate chip cookies. Other favorites include the chocolate chip or pumpkin bagel with date but cream cheese. They have a handful of tables and chairs and staff are friendly. Be careful not to come at noon or else expect a long wait with all the drake high school students on lunch break. Recently discovered this place and now it has become a regular for us every weekend to get our breakfast bagel sandwiches. They have a wide variety of bagels and a good selection of cream cheese and toppings. I usually get their onion bagel with garlic and chive cream cheese with red onion and cucumbers. Tastes very fresh and delicious. They usually have a long line which goes outside the store so the wait time to reach the counter ranges from 10-15 minutes. Best bagels I have ever had... EVER! I was dubious entering the store, just a rack of bagels and a self of day old options, I didn't even notice if they had drinks or other food - I just needed a bagel fix and for $9 a dozen vs $0.90 a bagel it seemed like the best thing to do was buy a bunch... And I couldn't be sadder that I only got one dozen!! The chick who helped us behind the counter didn't seem to understand my order so I had to point what out what I wanted and even then she mixed up the number of bagels but honestly- they were so good she couldn't do any wrong in my eyes. These are the chewiest and most flavorful bagels and wow- instead of a hard crust like most bagels have these were still soft- almost as if they were barely baked so the boiled softness was absolute perfection. The salt bagel was incredible - it burst in my mouth (and I'm not normally a salty anything fan)! The cranberry was bright and only the berries had bursts of sweetness but the dough was complimentary - not overly savory. The wheat raisin was very hearty and while not MY personal favorite the kids were crazy about it. The pumpkin had hint of spice- also a kid favorite. The chocolate chip was amazing- instead of using the same basic dough for everything the sweetened hint of dough was perfection with chocolate chips!
