Our house was destroyed in a fire. Bartwood Construction was in charge of our personal property. The crew came out and boxed our belongings and took them back to their warehouse to be cleaned. Some of our furniture had to be repaired and/or refinished. Our belongings were returned in excellent condition. They even offered to help unpack and put everything back in the original place but I declined because I made changes to where items were stored. If I had any questions I got immediate answers. This company is compassionate, extremely helpful and provided excellent service. Lori helped bridge the communication with my insurance company. I had 2 separate piping issues, starting July 2nd. After contacting a plumber and my insurance, Bartwood came to help! The ONLY issue I had was the insurance company, that dragged their heals on the first job, which in a way was good, because when Bartwood came in to check everything out, they noticed the 2nd leak, that practically destroyed my bedroom, kitchen, and family room. Had to get another abatement, and this time I got a different claims adjuster, one who did their best to speed things along. I was out of my house for three months, and I would come once in a while to check things out and to pick up my mail. It looked horrible, until Bartwood construction did their magic. Jack and Juan rocked! They made me feel secure and cared for. They made my house look immaculate! Looks better than it did before all the damage. They treated me with kid gloves, with respect, and didn't tell me about the third leak until it was all over and done with, because they saw how stressed out I was! Due to the recent wildfires, we had damage to the contents of our home. Ricky Flores, project manager, took care of all our needs quickly and completely. His crew were very competent and kind for what we were experiencing. At the time, I did not know where to turn but after a recommendation from someone else, I was so glad I turned towards him. His crew had to remove most of our belongings and when the pieces all came back it was like nothing ever happened. On April 29, I came home to a flooded house. An upstairs toilet connection ruptured and hundreds of gallons of water flowed through my house for hours. An hour and a half after I called Auto Club, the emergency crew from Bartwood was in my driveway. Within five minutes, Jesse and his partner started sucking up water. They were very calm, patient, and consoling. By midnight, 90% of the flooring had been ripped up and dryers were set up. Jesse (awesome employee) texted to let us know they were leaving and would return the next morning. On Friday, walls were ripped out, furniture moved, and all the small items were packed up and put in boxes. Again, we were reassured not to worry about anything and they would take care of our stuff. Because of the two men that showed up first, my husband and I decided to go with Bartwood to put our house back together. During our 7 week ordeal, we dealt many really nice people who work for this company. The two Mikes, Anthony, Laurie, Juan, and a host of others made sure things went smoothly. One complaint we had was in regards to the painters. Instead of taking the nails out of the walls and patching, they rolled right over them, and several of them were shoved so far into the wall, we had to use a small flathead screwdriver to pull them out. This of course left a hole in the wall that they had to fix. They were also kind of sloppy with the lines between the different colors and drops of wall paint on the door frames. In the end, my husband and I went around and put tape on the areas that needed fixing, and everything was taken care of and to our standards. Another issue was with the flooring. The guys who laid the tile put in a chipped tile in the main walkway that had to be replaced, in some areas the grout lines are thicker than the majority of the lines, and I am still using a flat blade to scrape off grout drops that are on the tile throughout the house, and we've been back home since June 19. This was a huge job, and unfortunately to all involved, we just had $30,000 worth of work done to this house six weeks before the flood, including inside paint. I know we were really picky about the paint job, but Bartwood sent us their best three painters to do the touch ups, and everything on my punch list was taken care of to my satisfaction. I recently used Bartwood Construction for a second story construction job. My home had a very small roof leak over 15 years, which resulted in extensive dry rot and termite damage to the structural beams supporting high cathedral ceilings. Bartwood gave me a very professional, detailed bid and once selected, began work immediately. My contractor was at my home coordinating the various trades as they removed the roof, removed and replaced enormous beams, and replaced drywall. He met with the building inspector at each step of the process through to final completion. they finished the job quickly and well under budget! I've never used a contractor before and was expecting the worst because of all the horror stories I'd heard. This Just wasn't the case here. Because we chose to do some of the repairs ourselves ( which is our right), they declined the partial job because it wasn't going to make them enough money. Bartwood came to our rescue. Our insurance company initially sent out another contractor who took a year to systematically destroy our house. Fortunately Nationwide stood by their referral and brought in Bartwood to repair our cabinets. They came out promptly, gave us a quote, showed up when they said they would, and did excellent work. It was a huge sigh of relief to actually have someone who knows what they are doing follow through with their promises. Bartwood Construction (who was recommended to me) came out and provided an in-depth estimate to restore my home which I submitted to my insurance company. Dealing with insurance companies is a horrible experience and Bartwood picked up the reigns and negotiated with them on my behalf. The result of Bartwood Construction's efforts and work resulted in a complete restoration of my home to my demanding expectations. As predictable as their turnover rate. I had a fantastic project manager for my property when we had a slab leak and I was impressed. I decided to use them for my rental property when I had some plumbing break and subsequent water damage. Unfortunately, the old project manager RAN FOR THE HILLS!!!! instead, I got Michael Vu, who seemed professional enough but turned out far from it. Complete lack of responsiveness and acceptance of responsibility!!! He took samples of my hardwood to try and match it, but took an Extremely long time to look for it. I had to exhaust my efforts to call him for status just to get the runaround. Finally, after a few months, he said they can't find a replacement. I asked him to give my sample flooring back and to give a quote to replace the entire flooring.........CRICKETS!!!!!! I had to call and email several times with no response. I eventually had to call his boss and complain. Finally I get a call back and he claims he didn't know I wanted a quote????!!!!!???!!!! Really? He never addressed me wanting my samples back! Meanwhile, my tenant had to live for months with missing hardwood planks!!! What a pain in the a$$! read more

Exceptional Service! Lori and her team went above and beyond in assisting my family after we had a kitchen fire, which resulted in extensive smoke damage throughout my home. She was in contact with me immediately after the insurance claim was filed, graciously offering her expertise. We had a trip planned out of the country six days after the fire and she met us at 7am the day of our flight to accommodate our availability, despite having to leave Orange County very early to meet us. We walked through the house and she informed us about the inventory process and care of our furnishings and other belongings. All our belongings were going to be removed and cleaned during our trip to expedite the process, which created a bit of anxiety for us, not having been through such an experience. She set our minds at ease and communicated with us as necessary on our trip. We were able to enjoy our vacation and not worry about the handling of our items since we were confident in Lori handling our belongings with great care. Her staff organized and packaged everything while we were gone and provided an itemized list of every item, which was quite a job since we have lived in our home for 20+ years. Some of our favorite plates and glassware had been burned in the fire and it was doubtful they could be restored. Miraculously her team was able to bring them back to just like new. Over the months when I have needed to communicate with Lori, she has always been friendly, professional and efficient. I cannot recommend Lori and Bartwood Construction highly enough! CALL SOMEONE ELSE! While the initial clean up was smooth and professional, the follow-up was anything but. Make sure to have them explain EVERYTHING to you, as they will tell you one thing and not deliver, only to say it wasn't in the contract. Make sure to ask questions! Customer service is lacking, they said they would clean an item, but only find out they did nothing for months and claimed to have never stated it (I have written proof). Even the owner has an attitude much like his supervisors, they will only meet when it's convenient for them. Bottom line, stay away from them! read more

They painted two thirds of the interior of my house, removed the carpet and laid gorgeous wood look vinyl flooring. They did a fantastic job, were very professional and finished on time. Bartwood did an excellent job restoring our home on three different occasions ... three sewer line backups. The first two, our insurance brought them in at the beginning. The did everything (subcontracted a few things): packing, drying, remediation, demolition, restoration. Worked with us when we wanted to change a few things during the restoration (paid them direct when it was significantly out of scope of the insurance work). The insurance company changed the process on the third job and sent different people for the different phases, except, for the restoration they referred us to a contractor referral service. Did not go well ... even just to get an estimate. Then my wife remembered Bartwood. We called, they came out, they worked the estimate with the adjuster (they found some things missing on the adjuster's work), and did the restoration. Same excellent service, even when the project manager went on vacation. I should say that it wasn't perfect. There were a few things that came up: delays on flooring, occasional miscommunications, etc. All three jobs were pretty big and messy. Also, my wife and I were stressed and living in half a house. There were bound to be a few issues. After the third sewer backup, we did extensive sewer line work. So, we hope never to see Bartwood for another restoration job. But if I need a contractor for anything else, they will be the first one I call. read more

They were nice to my face, but this was an insurance job. My kitchen was a mess and they painted my living room and the other side of my house not affe Thankscted by the flood. They painted all my walls yellow. The claim was for one wall. I asked them to have my daughter pick a color. She told me me showed her three shades of white. The yellow went next to the family room color of creamy pink. 80% of the walls painted were not covered by insurance, affected by damage, or needed to be painted. THE WORST! Stay away from this company. I had a wall leak while we were away for xmas vacation. The insurance company recommended Bartwood (why? I have no idea). The repairs started January 7th and were not completed until May! They argued with me on everything. They didn't want to repair the stair landing even though the insurance company had estimated repair costs for the entire floor and baseboards. I found out later why. They SUCK at it. I had them come back multiple times to do simple corrections to the flooring and baseboards due to shotty work. There was a small step to the living room that kept making a cracking sound that they tried to redo 3 times until I finally just wanted them out of my house. I will give them credit with the walls and part of the floors, they were done well but I will go elsewhere next time. They used discontinued flooring and they did not order enough initially, so we had to wait 2 months for the manufacturer to make more on special order (luckily). They were never on time and sometimes did not show up. They also demanded payment upfront instead of waiting for the insurance to release the payment schedule. When I did get a check from the insurance, which sent me a check with my name and the construction company, they refused to sign it even though I already paid them! They do not use their own employees to do the work either. When the workers were done for the day, they wouldn't say anything and just leave, without giving me a chance to review their work first. When talking to the Supervisor of the job about these problems he acted like he didn't care and I would have to hound him to get them done. Zero Stars! Spend your money somewhere else. read more

Our insurance company referred us to Bartwood after a flood in an investment building we own in Anaheim We are not new to working with contractors. We've owned 3 apartment buildings for approx 20 years. Through the years we've worked with many contractors; some have provided great experiences, some mediocre and some frustrating. Our experience with Bartwood was at the bottom of the barrel. They were unresponsive, never met time guidelines they set, took days to return calls, basically lacked professionalism in every way. Out of sheer frustration my husband ended up taking time off work to finish some aspects of the job just to get our tenant back into their home. If your insurance company gives you a choice on what contractor you can use, please try to go with another company. The team at Bartwood Contruction was very professional and responsive the few weeks. They immediately came in to demo our kitchen June 16th, then we sat for 5 weeks with a kitchen that was barley fictional, no stove, flooring dishwasher, etc. We had a water leak (dishwasher) in our kitchen, so the cabinets and flooring had to be replaced. A project we were told would take 3-4 weeks at most, has taken over 7weeks now. We have had sub contractors show up on 4 occasions unannounced, were asked to leave our house unlocked so they could complete their work while I was on a business trip, and told they could not finish during the week so they would have to come back on weekends to complete their work. We have had our downstairs toilet sitting on our front patio since July 28th. The lack of communication , follow up and professionalism gives them a 1 star ratting. They used sub contractors that are subpar and unreliable at best with regards to showing up on time. The icing on the cake was them showing up Wednesday to complete the job and the subcontractors didn't have any of the materials needed (baseboard & trim). I tried to call the owner to discuss things, but apparently he was too busy to call me back. We cannot wait for this nightmare to be over... read more

Great job ! I chose them among 3 other company my insurance recommended, and never regret I did. From the start, Josh is very flexible with my schedule and responded to my messages quickly and very helpful. Scott (project supervisor) is very hands on, he started working on the stairs on the first day to get it ready while the other crew members working on the other damages. Scott keeps me updated on stuff they are working daily. All my stuff from my stuff from upstairs were profeesionally boxed and covered and taken down and well protected. In less than 2 weeks, I was able to move back to my home and to my surprise, every inch of work they've done is very detailed (special thanks to the member who did the baseboards). I highly recommend Bartwood Construction Company, very professional and so easy to work with. Thank you Wawanesa for having them on your list or maybe, should only have them in your list :).
