Love the story behind this cafe, the atmosphere / space, and the quality coffee. I had the iced mocha - the espresso flavor was bold and the drink was great. This place was much bigger than I had imagined with plenty of parking. Tried here for the first time today. We tried several different drinks while we were here. All were really good and the staff was really nice and friendly. There were one or two items we never heard of before but they made sure to explain exactly what was in them and how they were made. Great place and great atmosphere. Has several seating areas. Nice couch area and several different places to sit out in the open or can kind of tuck yourself away in little hideaway corners. They had power cords hanging from the ceiling for your electrical devices. Fantastic place to come and just chill for awhile. I loved coming here but they now increased their coffee prices already twice since the beginning of the year and now charge for soy milk-not steamed- extra so that my decaf Americano came up to $4! Had a very nice cappuccino. The reddish-brown crema was pushed to the sides by the microfoamed milk. The taste was wonderful but not all was perfect. The foamed milk was just warm. The taste was very nice, however. Wonderful, rich coffee flavor. The barrista tried to pour latte art but it was a failure. I sympathize. I purchased a postcard as memorabilia for my trip to Arkansas. They ended up charging me for the card price ($1.50 more). I pointed it out to them and they said they would return the full 5.00 charge plus tax back on my card and then proceeded to charge me for the 3.50 card. The atmosphere is very chill and the baristas are friendly. It's wonderful that they make their own syrups and support a great cause. I love the coconut latte but I find that the flavor can be a little inconsistent. Sometimes my latte is overly sweet and other times the flavor is perfect. For this reason, I gave them a 4 instead of a 5. You may want to order half the pumps of syrup if you like to taste coffee more than the flavoring. read more

I used to only have Arsaga's coffee house for a good cup of coffee. Starbucks was the only other choice, as I've never liked Common Grounds on Dickson St (now, especially, b/c I have to pay for parking). I tried Mama Carmen's and love it. The atmosphere is relaxing, and there is usually seating when I go midmorning or afternoon (or in the summer months). I didn't come in wearing the same clothes as everyone else that was in there so I felt stared at and way out of place. It's so homey you won't want to leave. I wish there was better parking but with their location they can't really fix that.
