Stopped by for the first time on a Sunday night. There was little to no wait but plenty of patrons dining. It is located in a small plaza with a parking lot in the front. Service was good, nothing bad. Crying Tiger (5/5): This was a table favorite. Took a little longer to come out of the kitchen but maybe it was because we ordered it medium. Very tender and juicy with a nice tangy sauce. Truly melted in the mouth. It is market price on the menu and we paid $58 for what they called a large portion. Hot Basil (4/5): Stir fried vegetables with your choice of protein and spice level. We did fried tofu medium spice and it was good and fresh. Portion size could have been better. Pad Thai (5/5): It had the right amount of sauce for the portion size. For $15 this was a steal. Noodles were perfectly cooked as well. Favorite dish of the night. Pineapple Fried Rice (4/5): Surprisingly very good. I'm not a usual fan but the flavor was great and the rice was perfect. Not too much protein added. Chicken Satay (3/5): Nothing special. Didn't taste like the usual grilled flavor you could find at other places. Would skip next time. Garden Trout (5/5): There were no bones so it was easy to eat. Came with a yummy basil sauce and plenty of veggies. The mangos added a nice touch of sweetness. Overall I would definitely recommend. It was a great dinner spot. read more

This is a tasty spot but the prices seem unreasonable. Good service, of course. But *lunch* for three people, with one appetizer and no drinks should not be ^$100. In a strip mall. In Diamond Bar. I love mom and pop but the place was packed, so I don't think they're hurting for customers. Maybe it's our new economic reality and we'll eat out a lot less. read more

The food was so good! The wait time was kinda long though. The service was interesting we got the check sent to us twice but we told the server and they fixed it for us. I got the Tom yum soup and my friend got the fried noodles with tofu. They both looked great! read more

Making lunch or dinner plans? Basil & Co is the place to go! The food is delicious, the staff are all courteous and it is a nice cozy place! They are also very generous supporters of our Diamond Bar schools and nonprofits. So come support them and enjoy some great dishes! My favorites are Tom Kha Kai, basil and eggplant, pad see ew and Pad Thai. Actually anything you order is delicious! They do catering too. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

I made an advanced reservation for Sunday at 2 and was seated by my reservation time. I suggest you do it because it seems to be somewhat popular. You do have to give credit card to save reservation. I ordered the pineapple fried rice, chicken satay and the red duck curry. The satay sauce was thick and tasted fresh and had a lot of flavor. The chicken was cut pieces and not on a skewer which made it taste more real, not all flattened out. The duck was on a leg quarter and was easy to get off the bone. The curry was ordered medium spicy and was very coconut flavor. It came with one small bowl of rice and we probably should have asked for a bit more. The pineapple fried rice had a good flavor and the pineapple tasted good. It had chicken and shrimp. The shrimp tasted fresh. Everything we ordered came out on time and I would come back again. This is a nice little thai restaurant that felt very modern. The servers were very attentive and refilled our water frequently and checked in on us often. I ordered the drunken noodles and garlic pepper with beef tenderloin. I got mild spiciness for the drunken noodles, but it was a little spicier than I thought it would be. However, it was still very enjoyable and not overly spicy. The garlic pepper was pretty good too. The beef was very tender and tasted really good. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and would come again, but I do think that the portions are a little small compared to other thai restaurants that I've been to. read more

I went on a Saturday night and the restaurant was packed! The restaurant was super loud, every conversation resonated off the walls. The restaurant was super boujee, very modern and clean. I decided to order the chicken pad thai to go because of the waitlist. The pad thai was $16! The portion was small considering the price. You can pick a spicy level, 1-5. I chose 3 because I love spicy! I didn't have to wait too long for the food. The pad thai wasn't worth the price to me. I've had some good pad thai and i was disappointed with this place. There wasn't much classic pad thai flavor in the dish. I wish the pad thai had more flavor. It was just overwhelmingly hot tasting, not good spicy. My mouth was on fire! Very numbingly hot. I'll have to give them a second chance since according to gf while our food portions were smaller. When she looked at someone else with the same order, they had significantly more food than ours. Of course it's more about quality of quantity, but it does speak volumes when consistency isn't factored in. read more

Had dinner with my friends here for the first time, and we really enjoyed our experience. Although it was a midweek dinner, the restaurant was packed with people. However, it didn't take long until we were seated. The interior design of Basil and Co. is trendy, well-lit, and modern. I can definitely see it being somewhere to meet with friends or to bring a date. We ordered the Pad Thai, which was flavorful and fresh, without the feeling of oiliness that sometimes accompanies this dish. We also ordered the Crying Tiger, which took a little longer than everything else to come out. The steak was extremely tender and juicy, and came to our table already thinly sliced. Paired with the Thai chili dipping sauce (Nam Jim Jaew) definitely brought it to the next level. I never thought that the flavor of steak could be even remotely refreshing, but that dipping sauce most definitely took it there. Even though the restaurant was teeming with customers, our servers were attentive and friendly, even going out of their way to offer to take our group picture when they saw us struggling. I can definitely see myself coming back, and would encourage anyone in the area to stop by for some excellent Thai food. read more

Ordered the crab fried rice, fried trout, beef padsee ew, and chicken wings. My favorite out of all is the chicken wings 10/10. Six perfectly coated and fried with a delicious dipping sauce to die for. I don't even have a picture of it because I forgot. Which means I'll have to come back again. Really clean restaurant and with a very modern look. I took off 1 star because I felt the prices were a bit steep. read more

The person who took my order was welcoming and friendly. She also helped me customize vegetarian/ Vegan. Waited about 20 minutes. Came home and food was still warm after 10 minutes of picking it up. The food, service, and ambiance were all amazing. All 3 dishes we ordered were absolutely delicious. The garlic pork spareribs are juicy, crispy, and tender and served with my favorite Thai sauce (a vinegary, sweet, and savory sauce). Then we got pad thai with chicken and blistered green beans with ground pork as our entree and the portions were perfect for 2 people to share. The pad thai had great flavor, and was perfectly coated in the tamarind sauce. The green beans were cooked perfectly with great flavor and the ground pork added the perfect fattiness. We also got the Thai Tea with almond milk, which was our first time trying it and they made it perfectly because I did not taste a difference in the flavor. Came in on a Friday during lunch and we were seated right away for a party of 6. Parking was easy since they had a lot of shared parking lots with other businesses. The interior was also very spacious and aesthetic. Now let's talk about the food! The flavor and the sauce for every single dish was delicious. The Pad See Ew had a lot more beef than the noodles but it's fine since I had other dishes. Papaya Salad was delicious and refreshing. In fact, I wanted more after eating it. Moving on to the curry, it was so flavorful! It was a plus providing rice since most places may or may not do so. The Pad Thai tasted so authentic. The noodles had a nice bite to it and it was a bit chewy but overall, the flavor was on point. Fried rice tasted like every other place. I didn't think there was anything special to it since the flavor of the crab was lacking. Nonetheless, it was still delicious. Moving on to the last dish, calamari. This was probably one of my favorite places for it. The batter was so consistent and crunchy. This place is a bit on the pricier side but you can't really go wrong with any of the dishes here. Because of that, I recommend trying whatever you desire. If you do want to try something new, go for it because this place is a great opportunity to do so. Overall, I really enjoyed every single dish here and I think I just found my new go to place for Thai food in Diamond Bar. read more

I just got done with my acupuncturist appointment. I felt a little hungry so I looked for a nearby Thai restaurant via Yelp of course. I found Basil and Co and it was only a few minutes away. Perfect! The first thing I noticed upon entry of this restaurant was the ambience. It was really nice and inviting. I was greeted right away which was a good start. I was handed a menu and I was on my way to ordering some Thai food. Well, the next thing I noticed was the higher prices just by a few more dollars compared to other Thai restaurants. But that didn't stop me from ordering the food LOL. Whenever I try a new Thai restaurant, I must order a Pad Thai Chicken and/or Shrimp and a Thai ice tea... these are staples of a Thai restaurant IMHO. Then I got the Pad Woon Sen with seafood and the Papaya Salad with shrimp. Yes, you may think this is a lot of food for one person, but it's really not especially when I pack what I don't finish to take home for another meal or two sometimes. Remember... I'm the take-out and take-home gal LOL. All 3 dishes were fantastic. Very Thai authentic and flavorful. Portions were big. Thai ice tea was good, too. I have no complaints with the exception of the price (hence, 1 star less)... my total bill was about $80+ (tips included) out the door LOL... of course, this total also includes a take-out order for Pad See Ew Fried Tofu (my youngest daughter loves this entree!). Staff was pleasant and friendly. They came back to my table regularly to check on everything to make sure I was still good. Thank you Ray! I checked into Basil & Co in Yelp. I received 1 free Thai tea or any tea coupon, but they weren't able to honor it because it was for weekday lunch special Monday thru Friday 11 AM - 2:30 PM. I was here during dinner hours. Pretty decent place for some thai food. First time here and i tried their papaya salad, thai spicy wings, and drunken noodles. The papaya salad was pretty good and it was refreshing. Thai spicy chicken wings were amazing. It was super crispy and tender on the inside. The sauce is the best part, it's hard to describe what they use to make it so you just got to try it for yourself! The drunken noodles were filled with MSG, so that one was just okay. Overall, decent spot for thai food if you're craving for it. Definitely try their chicken wings. Where do I begin? This restaurant is always packed and once you take a bite of their food you'll immediately know why. Every dish is perfectly executed. I've had many dishes here such as the spicy sticky wings appetizer, crispy egg rolls, rich coconut tom yum noodle soup, comforting pumpkin curry, spicy beef salad, savory pad see ewe and look forward to trying many more of their exciting delicious food. We really enjoyed our dinner at Basil and Co! We came in for dinner on Christmas eve and had no issues getting a reservation. There were some open tables but still pretty busy! Parking was very easy with plenty of spaces in the parking lot. The food is really good with great fresh ingredients. The service was great as well! I really enjoyed the pad thai, crying tiger, and the crab fried rice. We added pineapple to the rice which was delicious! We tried all 3 of the desserts which were all great as well! Had dinner here tonight and it did not disappoint!! Authentic flavors, well made, and super tasty. I couldn't find anything wrong with anything we ordered. The Curry was rich and flavorful. The wings were juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The dipping sauce was packed with flavor. The beef salad was probably my favorite thing tho. The ribeye was tender and so refreshing with the lime sauce. Sooo flavorful, I'd be happy just eating that all by myself. I am definitely coming back here again. How did I not know about this place? The establishment is so inviting. The staff is friendly and attentive. We ordered papaya salad, pad Thai, and green curry. You can choose the level of spiciness for the papaya salad. the pad Thai was tangy and sweet. The green curry comes mild in spiciness. All were delicious but the green curry was my absolute favorite! I would say the food here is pretty good as we ordered many things from the menu. Pad Thai, pad see ew, papaya salad were definitely my favorites. I'm not too sure about service as we go our food to go, but food came out on time and staff was friendly. I would say try eating there in person as the portions can be somewhat questionable when ordered for take out. Cool spot, I can see that the restaurant gets busy from time to time. Hi Yelpers, my name is Calvin and my wife is Air. We have both worked in the restaurant world for more than 12 years. We have been working hard, learning and gaining as much experience as we can to one day open up our own restaurant. We strive to provide delicious Asian Soul Food to the community of idiamond bar. We created this restaurant for friends and family to meet up, enjoy some delicious food and drinks together, while catching up in a chill, cool, and cozy place. Crystal shrimp dumplings - 10/10 These were made fresh. I've had these at other dim sum places and it's been hit or miss--sometimes soggy, sometimes the wrapper is hard. That wasn't the case here at all. Perfection wrapped around shrimp. Xiao long bao - 10/10 I've had dumplings at places like Din Tai Fung, and I honestly believe these are better. The broth inside was bursting with flavor and the exterior was fresh and made perfectly. I'll be dreaming of these. Cartoon sweet custard buns - 9/10 These were delicious and so cute. The only thing I would have changed is giving the inside a bit more custard (personal preference--some people might think the balance is perfect). The rest of the bao was cooked perfectly, so soft, and the design made the experience that much more memorable. I highly recommend eating here. Not a problem, the lunch menu was equally enticing. A 2-course offering for $25. I started with the Thai Prawn Ceviche. This course was wonderfully balanced, not too acidic, also a nice touch of sweetness and plump flavorful prawns. For the main, my selection was the Beef Truffle Wok-Seared Noodles. I was delighted that they were round noodles and they arrived at my table stirred in a dark sauce with sliced beef pieces on top. A small porcelain decanter was also supplied, containing the truffle oil. I poured it over my noodles. The beef was tender, moist and could be cut with the usual provided table knife. The whole dish was a winner, from start to finish. Service here, as expected, was well executed. Need to be aware of the parking though. There is a public garage around the corner that is advertised for this establishment and a few others. Problem is, that Star Leaf validates only for 1-hour, while their neighbors do so, for 2-hours. I addressed this issue with the manager at my last visit and this time too. The answer I got was not convincing to suggest that they care, or will do something about it, anytime soon. Oh well.

I did some reading on the reviews of this place and I have to say that a lot of the more critical reviews were more about how they were understaffed, which is understandable (at least on my end) because everyone in this area is getting sick. I understand that the food is not for everyone but I have been to a lot of Thai food places in Diamond Bar and even the expensive ones for a fancy dinner, but nothing compares to Basil and Co. First of all-- the food is amazing. I am not going to lie, I always thought Thai food wasn't for me. But Basil and Co. has really opened up my flavor pallet towards Thai food. There is another Thai place in Diamond Bar, I am pretty sure less than a 5 minutes away from Basil and Co., but when me and my family went there they tried to charge us for Thai chilies, the service was horrible, the tables were lazily cleaned, etc. Some of my teachers, my friends, my family who don't even live in Diamond Bar, all go to Basil and Co. I personally get the Tom Yum Soup there. They give you really big servings. My parents get the papaya salad and pineapple fried rice and they love it. We have been coming here for a year now, even before the new construction. And food never changes. I personally don't get spicy in my food but my parents absolutely love spice. They will drown their food in Thai chilies and they will want more. They are satisfied with the spicy level here. I personally can't handle spice. So if you are a mild person like me, they have that option too! The service is amazing! The owners and the nicest most sweetest people alive and they even gave me a shirt! They are open to having new friendships with their customers and I love that about them. Also they have the most nicest waiters. Jade and Ray and seriously the most nicest people, but they also do their job just right. I am aware that there are more workers there but I have personally not met them, only Jade and Ray. When ordering to go, they put the food in nice, reusable containers and they write a "thank you" message on it which is just so adorable. They package everything very secure. I have never experienced a leak or anything unless it was my fault haha. The atmosphere of the place is so soothing and relaxing. It's very modern and aesthetically pleasing. But not the type of modern where it makes you feel like it's too basic.. it's cozy and warm as well. They decorate for holidays as well. My personal favorite is when they decorate for Christmas. It feels very homey. The outside is very welcoming. There are chairs in case of a wait and decorates as well as a board. There are free stickers and candy at the cashier as well. Overall, I have always loved my experience here at Basil and Co. I have never come across a day where they were "lacking". It's always been consistent pleasurable service here. I first went to this place and had a good experience. Today, when trying to book a reservation for my birthday, they were being very accommodating. However, they weren't letting us book for a specific time we wanted so they asked us to choose either 730 or 8 PM, after 10 minutes of trying to find a time that worked we settled on 8 PM and made the reservation. When we show up to our reservation five minutes before, they tell us they gave up our table and that our booking was for the original time that we wanted at 7:45. We argue that it's OK that they had to give up the table because we weren't there at the time, but it's not right that they're making us wait at the back of the line after giving up our table after they told us to come at a different time than the one they Assigned. Mistakes can happen, the attitude received by the person working the host stand was not welcome, she was very rude and accusatory. I use the term 'he' when trying to describe who my family spoke with when booking the original reservation. Since I wasn't on the phone, I didn't know the gender of the person, and she started getting mad at me because apparently there were all girls working that day. I looked up and I saw five men working. We weren't gonna settle for this kind of service so we made the easy decision to leave, but not before I wanted to speak to the manager. The host, who might've lied told me she was the manager, so I respectfully complained. And rather than even bother to listen or provide any appropriate customer service, we were shut down and not heard. I was rooting for this place, as it's look and feel originally was an exciting place to bring to the vibrant small town community we have built in Diamond Bar. I am disappointed to stop my support, but any business who employs someone like that, especially in management, does not have my trust nor respect. The owner must have a change of management and customer approach. Consistency in respectful service and a proper approach to seating and a management is what this place needs for the rest of our friends in this community to not hear only poor reviews. Any plans our friends and family have for this place in the future are canceled. Please contact if you want any recommendations for Thai places with amazing service and food, that'll make you forget of this place. i booked a graduation lunch just this pass sunday for our group of 18. i made reservations a few weeks ago and was confirmed. They even called the day of to make sure we were coming. When we arrived the table wasn't ready for about 20 minutes. Then when we were seated there wasn't enough to seat 18. About 5 seats missing, so my guest had to stand. i asked if we can add another table and the waitress (short hair with glasses) gave me attitude and said i had to wait. This was ridiculous because a reservation was made and confirmed. Don't book it and give the table away if a large party is expected. Service was horrible, that main waitress was extremely rude. We picked that restaurant because we had been there a few times and food was good. I finally got around to eating at this restaurant with some friends on Sunday night after having it bookmarked for some time. A Japanese teppan restaurant shares the site, making it very convenient for its customers. I did not anticipate a wait when I arrived at 6 o'clock in the evening, therefore I did not make a reservation in advance. It was freezing outdoors, so when our time came around, we wanted to stay inside the restaurant. However, we were informed that we had to wait outside till our turn came. A wise move that allowed us to sample more meals was to order a few things and share them family style when we took our seats. I got a papaya salad, some free curry chicken, larb, mango trout, crab fried rice, spicy eggplant, and mango sticky rice. I was pleasantly surprised by how fast my food arrived. Came in with my family and let me tell you the food has its own flavor and it's way better than anything I've had before! Service is very good even tho they were busy for a Monday night they managed to make sure we weren't missing anything our water cups were always full. Food came quick . One thing I did notice and appreciate was how the staff works together to help each other you could ask any one of the staff and they didn't hesitate to help we didn't have to worry about getting our specific server always a smile on their face and friendly with everyone.
