We opted to seat outside because it was a very pleasant day. We enjoyed watching people and their canine friends coming and going from the groomers next door. Inside was completely redone since covid due to an unfortunate fire. :( The waiter we had was very friendly. We asked him about the dishes & what he would recommend. He was very helpful & patient with us. I ordered the linguini & clams with white sauce, it was quite tasty, but, in all honesty it was a little on the salty side. But, very flavorful. My husband ordered some chicken pesto pasta dish & he said his was very tasty. We also had some cheese garlic bread as an appetizer. Also good! He did say that the bread for the garlic bread is the same as what they use for their pizzas, all in all, I'd say this is a very good hidden gem, definitely would suggest giving them a try if you ever in the area. It might have been a risk to order the clams and linguine but it exceeded expectations. The clams were perfectly done and the sauce was light with a hint of garlic. This is an COVID-19 Update Review Yes, Basil & Garlic is open for Takeout and both Claudio & Nadine seem to be doing well under the circumstances. Our daughter bought us an anniversary dinner from here last night. During the last nine weeks, we've found that Basil & Garlic does it much, much better than most with to go orders. Everything was hot and tasty. We even had our own personal server, while enjoying our meal from our own dinning room. LOL This our fourth or fifth takeover meal from Basil & Garlic, which makes us wonder why we go anywhere else. We had their yummy Boscaiola pasta, which comes with sausages, spinach and mushrooms in cream sauce and meat Lasagna. Both dishes were outstanding. Our sever btw raved about her own oversized Calzone. For dessert, the three of us shared a Tiramisu and a Cannoli, which capped a wonderful evening. I would not suggest the calamari. It was too rubbery. The pizza is a 5 plus. I would suggest all pizzas. They have it nailed. Really good. Great crust. The lasagna was a 4 out of 5. I personally was less enthusiastic about the sauce. It just lacked good deep flavor and was a bit runny. All waiters were amazing. They were attentive and funny. I love every thought about this restaurant-a small, unassuming Italian restaurant, quite possibly family-owned, tucked away in a small strip mall. Upon entering, I was greeted by a woman who seared me outside in a wonderful outdoor patio, perfect for what I was looking for. It appeared to be all family working and they spoke (possibly Italian?) to each other. I love a good family owned business , and I was immediately feeling the warm fuzzy feelings. I ordered the pasta-Rucola e Gamberetti, and it was quite delicious. The only thing I can say is that I was slightly disappointed in the service-I asked for Parmesan cheese (which I saw a customer had on another table), i never received it so i grabbed it myself off the table after the customer left. I also never had my water refilled. My meal also mentioned that that it came with a roll (which I didn't receive). My waiter never came back to check so I notified another waiter about the roll (which he did bring out quickly). Overall, I'd try this place out again (cute atmosphere and good food) but I would hope the service would be better! read more

Yum!! This place hit the spot the other night. We picked up a to-go order and it was hot and fresh when we received it. We ordered 3 spaghetti and meatball entrees. The garlic bread was nice and crisp but can use little more garlic. We weren't impressed with the calamari, it was over fried and too much pepper in their batter. But their entree were great. We both enjoyed their chicken Marsala and lasagna. Their lasagna was one of the better one we had in a long time. Our friend loves the chef's special and swore by it - basically the only thing he ever orders there. The tiramisu was amazing!! It's light and melt in your mouth. This place is further proof that diners in Scottsdale have an extreme lack of taste buds. Four and a half stars? Not even close. The pepperoni pizza I got was so salty, it was literally all I could taste. Salty, greasy and chewy. No spices to speak of. If you can't do a basic pepperoni well at an Italian restaurant, then chances are the rest of the food will suck too. Also, their online ordering prices are wrong on adding cheese, which I found out when I got a call from the restaurant saying if I wanted to add what I ordered, it would be an extra $5.
