This restaurant is an absolute gem. I first visited a couple of years ago, and I am amazed to say that it has only gotten better since then. Highly suggest making reservations as they do go on a lengthy wait, thankfully we were able to walk down the way to grab a cocktail while we waited but that was simply okay with us as we weren't in a rush Once seated, we were greeted promptly by our server Radley who answered and an all questions and had our drink orders come out quickly. Funny a friend told me to get the cannoli espresso martini and while it was no longer an item, they still took the time to put it together, certainly glad I got to try it! We all round robin our different martinis and can't say there was a bad one! We started with the Carpaccio di Manzo and I gotta say...it was real hard to not order a second. This was so good I cannot say if any other way. I went here for happy hour and was quite impressed with the seating available for happy hour as normally it's only available in the bar area. My original party was rather large so I made two reservations on Opentable as I didn't have time to call/ wait at the restaurant/ email, etc. the restaurant canceled my second reservation even though it was under different contact information. Thankfully I arrived and there was availability but that was quite disappointing as I needed to make sure the party was accommodated. We ordered quite a few dishes including the pasta, pizza, whipped feta or ricotta (something like that) and dessert. Everything was very good however, moving forward I would pace myself better as I got full really fast since it was a ton of carbs! We reserved a table for my parent's birthdays on Sunday, and I was genuinely disappointed to hear of their experience. First, the reservation asked if they were celebrating anything and if they had any special requests... we listed the birthday & a request for one of the better tables in the restaurant (if possible) - both requests were completely ignored (why even ask?). When they arrived slightly before their reservation, they waited & were then seated outside (not requested) at a table that barely fit between two doors where people were constantly going in and out. They asked nicely if they could sit at an open 2-top table inside, and the host/guy gave them an attitude and said that if a larger party walked in that they'd use that table to fit them. To their surprise, 5 minutes later, that table was sat by a 2-top. The server was great, but never acknowledged their birthday. Mind you, a big birthday celebration kicked off at the table next to them as they were finishing up. My parents didn't want to make a fuss, but when you're going out to dinner to celebrate a birthday (asked in the reservation by the restaurant), it's disheartening to not even be acknowledged. Can I just say this place gets better every time I go ? This time my family and I took our two friends here who were visiting from Taiwan. They loved their food and so did we. The service by Lauren was amazing and she was very helpful answering our questions. This place is perfect for a date night, family dinner, or even a large group. We tried the burratta, homemade bread, beet salad, mini meatballs, gnocchi, calzone, burratella pizza, and the principe pizza. I had a glass of the Cabernet Franc and one can never go wrong with that. We sat outside and while it was hot outside that day it was very comfortable on the patio- perfect place to sit. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. My beautiful friend and I decided to have a lunch together. It has been since 2023 since I died with Pomo. I had to walk through the doors again of a foreign restaurant that seems so familiar to me. You see, my daughter passed away in December 2023 and that beautiful friend of mine who joined me for lunch was my daughter's friend. Though I was full of emotion as I walk through those doors to have lunch, it was gently taken away by our server, who was so extremely kind without even knowing my story. Spencer is an angel on earth, and though he didn't know the pain I was in he treated me with such kindness, grace, love of a human, extremely professional, spoke to us as we existed. He made what was a hard lunch to be at a spectacular lunch to enjoy. His personality, and kindness stopped me in my tracks and realize that there are so many great people in this world and how lucky Pomo is to have him. I'd never been to a POMO before, but made it to this location for a friend's bday dinner. The pizza was absolutely yummy! But what really stood out was the incredible service. Every staff member we interacted with was warm and welcoming. First of all, I have been here and taken out from here many times. The thing that keeps me coming back is the food. I have spent a good part of my childhood in Italy so I know when the ingredients, or at least the cooking of them, are made in that same style. The pizzas are always consistently good and they make one of the best pastas I've ever had, I think it's called Verdure (too lazy to look back and check to be certain). Anyways, it's a vegetable based "green sauce" with pasta. I'm serious, it's incredibly satisfying and I'm in no ways a vegan. But one of the true gems is the Gelateria next door, which not only makes divine, homemade gelato, switching up flavors as well, but also serves an amazing lunch sandwich (pictured) on the bread made from their pizza dough. Also lazy to look back and find the exact name of the sandwich, it's really delicious grilled chicken with an aioli that is really light. And on this particular day they were generous with the chicken, which has prompted me to write a review (one also separately written for the Luna Gelateria). This was one of two pizza spots recommended to us by the hotel staff while we were in Scottsdale, so on night two of three of our stay, we dropped in for an early dinner. We were seated pretty promptly in the outside patio area next to the outside portion of the bar. It was fun, noisy, playoff baseball on the TVs and the after work crowd was starting to roll in. We enjoyed some people watching as the bar had a decent older meat-market vibe, and our server hit us with some pretty efficient service. We seemed to disappoint that we were just ordering some club sodas, and after that we decided to be just as efficient and start our ordering. The food was fine. We started with a whipped ricotta with a delicious focaccia, an appetizer clearly meant for six people. I had the strozzapretti with sausage, and the Mrs. got the Bufala Verace pizza. The strozzapretti were beautifully uniform in length and form, clearly expertly hand-made with factory-like precision. The sauce was a creamy tomato sauce, with a ground meat sort of garnish. The pizza was great- pillowy crust on the edges and nicely sauced, a generous amount of mozzarella di búfala scattered throughout. All in all, it wasn't bad. It wasn't magical, either. The corporate vibe kind of detracts from the dining experience, but like I said, it was still okay. We decided to walk across the lobby to the gelato counter, rather than order at the table ("You guys can order with me, or close out and order in the lobby- it doesn't matter to me."). All in all, it's not a bad Italian place, it's just not the way that Nonna made it, that is, unless Nonna was busy trying to maximize value for the shareholders. read more

This place is great for a business meal, a meal with family, a date, or a get together with friends. On our most recent visit, we ordered the mussels and minestrone soup to start off with. The mussels were delicious, they definitely made it into the top three best mussels I've had in a while. They were plentiful for an appetizer and that sauce was well balanced in flavor. Not too bland, sour, or salty. For our main entrees we ordered the tagliolini scampi and the campanelle verdure. The tagliolini scampi overall, was a tad too salty for my liking. We were notified early on that the campanelle pasta was unavailable at the time and so they used a different type of pasta. The verdure wasn't my main entrée, but I got to try a few bites of it. The person who got it was satisfied with the dish overall. I thought the flavoring could have been a tad stronger, but that's just a personal preference. Since we made sure to leave plenty of room for dessert, we decided to share a crème brulee and a panna cotta. Both desserts were superb and not too overwhelmingly sweet for our taste buds. Overall, we had an enjoyable time here. Service was friendly and attentive, and we never felt rushed or ignored at any point during our meal. We had an excellent experience here after recommendation from a Scottsdale local. We started with the Mussels with Sausage and Meatball Appetizer. The Mussels had a nice twist with the sausage and it was our favorite from the appetizers. We also ordered the Pizza with Sausage and Black Olives, Short Rib Bolognese, and Lasagna. All of it was tasty but the Short Rib was our favorite. We finished things off on the other side of the restaurant where they had the Gelato bar. Its been a few years since we last ate at Pomo and this February we ate there twice on our visit to the area. This restaurant continues to be an Italian staple. On our visit we shared the margherita pizza cooked in the beautiful wood fired pizza oven. The crust is light and a delicious vehicle for the unadulterated tomato sauce and stringy creamy mozzarella. This is such a success in the valley where there is no shortage of pizza or italian restaurants. We shared some appetizers and a salad; the salad hit the spot with a light vinaigrette over fresh greens. The arancini and meatballs were excellent. The arborio rice balls had a crispy exterior while the rice was creamy and had just the right amount of mozzarella cheese to hold it all together. The meatballs were tender, well seasoned and served with the wonderful tomato sauce. As our dessert we shared the panna cotta which had a creamy light finish to our meal. Pomo is a stand by for some of our favorites Italian dishes. What they have on the menu they do well and it offers a consistency in execution that is appreciated. Our server, Lauren, was most helpful, friendly and timely. This place gets crowded with both a bar inside and outside so we always make early dinner reservations. read more
