Anyone looking for legit NY pizza, your search is over. I was in the area and I'm so happy I stopped in. I used to go to Tommy's Place on Bell and it was, by far, the best east coast Italian in the Phx area. Now Tommy's Way has the best east coast pizza (even has a bit of the orange oil that drips off). I took two slices to eat in my car even though the dining area is really nice to sit down and eat. Some of the decor is from the old Tommy's Place restaurant. Pros 1. Came back to Tommy's with family. Everyone was delighted with their dish and food was great. My son and I shared the Everything Pizza and three other family members got to taste the pizza. Some had the baked Ziti, Meatball Sub, Eggplant Parmigiana and the rest ordered the Cesar Salad with chicken which looked delicious also. Service is always great and the restaurant has plenty of room with pictures of past family members who have operated restaurants in New York. Tommy's Back!! We moved to Arizona in 1989 and found Capriccios Pizza (sp) at Scottsdale and Shea. We were so happy to find great NY Style Pizza. Tommy has opened several locations since then but they were too far to visit on a regular basis. Was saw a TiK Tok last night and just had to go for a visit today. We loved Tommy's Place and we're very sad when Covid forced them to close. It was our go-to for birthdays and anniversaries. And it was nearby. A couple weeks ago I read somewhere that Tommy had opened a new place, Tommy's Way, so it was immediately added to our list of places we had to visit. Yesterday was that day! The location is a bit further for us, but the feeling of home is still there. And it's definitely smaller than the Place, but we're from the northeast and it reminds us of the pizza/pasta/sub shops of home. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and grabbed a table to look over the menu. I decided on the eggplant parm with penne and hubby went with chicken parm with spaghetti. He cleared his plate! But I saved enough of mine for lunch today and I have to admit, I think it was even better on day 2. (And I'm not usually a fan of leftovers.) We absolutely will be back. I remember how much I loved Tommy's calzones and of course we have to get pizza. And we want to try the subs too. We also grabbed some cheesecake to take home and have later. I'd say it's right up there with my homemade. Beyond bad! $35 for the worst Chicken Parm and Meatball Sub I've ever had in my entire life. The previous owners had the best Chicken Parm I've ever had and I was hoping for the same. Very little chicken, soggy bread and would you look at the cheese?! The meatballs tasted mushy, soggy bread and again with the cheese. Never again... To say I was disappointed is an understatement. Tommy's house red sauce makes the meatballs, sausages, eggplant and every dish shine. Everything home made from years of experience and success. Once discovered several years ago, was a regular at Tommy's Place on Bell Road but, sadly, Covid shut the location down. Very nostalgic to share some of his old recipe's with my wife today where everything tasted the same or better. We've been to this cozy little establishment twice now. We planned to have pizza the first time, but when we saw Stromboli on the menu, we ordered that. It was delicious without the very thick crust that some Stromboli have - a perfect blend and very tasty. We came back a week later for pizza which we built on our own and loved it. Thin, the right amount of cheese and toppings, was not too flimsy so able to eat it without everything sliding off as is sometimes the case with NY style or Neapolitan. Well, well, well pizza lovers. There is a new contender in the slices game in town and tommy is going to fit in nicely. First off, the atmosphere is very nice. Way better looking than the last spot. The girl at the register was very nice and helpful. The pizza was very good. I tried a cheese slice and a Sicilian cheese slice. The cheese slice was super solid, nice chew to the crust, a nice bit of crunch and the sauce was very flavorful. This recipe was definitely written by a New Yorker. The Sicilian slice was the 2nd best i have had in the valley. So light and airy with a nice crunchy crust and i love the sauce on top. Unfortunately it was cold. That's why i gave 4 star rating but it's really a 4.5. This place is highly recommended. If the pizza was that good (not knowing how long it was out) fresh has got to be top notch.!!!! A lot of other options to choose from, pasta, chicken Parmesan and so on. I work right around the corner and these people are probably going to know me by name!
