We were pleasantly surprised by Culinary Gangster! The staff member who helped us was very friendly and helpful. We visited at a slower time after the dinner rush, so the food came out quickly. I ordered the chicken avocado quinoa bowl which was quite tasty. The flavors married well together, and it was filling. We also ordered the sweet potato fries to share. These were decent (maybe a little salty for me, but that's a preference), and again the portion was large. My only critique is the restaurant's atmosphere itself is somewhat lacking. This little shop is easy to find, has plenty of parking, a busy but chill vibe, and a playlist! You order at the counter and they'll bring your food to you. There were tons of choices and I had some decision paralysis but staff answered all my questions and were all very nice. I met a friend and we each got bowls, plus shared an order of very tasty crispy cauliflower. I didn't care for my breakfast bowl, but I'd chalk it up to a personal preference as to how the eggs were cooked, not that there was actually anything wrong with the food. I let the staff know and then I ordered a bowl of tomato soup that was easily in my top 3 tomato soups around the valley. We were in town and looked at several places to eat. We decided on the culinary gangster. It was the worst burger I've had since McDonalds. I ordered a gryos burger . When it came it was thrown together and hardly any sauce on it. Two strips of gyro's under a well done burger. When I said something to the so called manager she gave me some crap about the system can't give money back. The owner was there an Indian and not the good kind. He kept playcating me and asked me what I wanted. I said my money back so I can eat at a good place. He absolutely wouldn't give me my money back. He said we can make another burger. What??? The first one was shitty why would I think the second burger would be any different. I wouldn't go here again. It's not together and on top of everything he said I can have a soft drink. Normally, I go to the Phoenix location but lately it seems to be closed so we decided to check out the Scottsdale location which is closer to my friend. I love how they have both the indoor and outdoor seating and they actually have a fountain drink dispenser I really should've taken some pictures, but I got my usual which is the jalapeño popper burgers, the popcorn, cauliflower, and the gangster fries. What a great place, we got there at 12 by 1 there were no tables available to sit it. 8 tables inside, friendly staff and great burgers! I had the gyro burger no bun, my god daughter had the fruity pebble pancakes and my bestie had the Big Mak Salad. Considering the seasoning, price, and gigantic portion the price is a great value. You can add it for $2 which I found out later but I have never ordered a "quote"gourmet burger that was served without it. It is priced high enough to include this. Most people are not going to think to order this with the burger. It should come with it. The fries were frozen not homemade. The onion rings were very overcooked. The beer wasn't cold enough and served with a glass that had a chip out of the edge. Fortunately I noticed it before I cut my mouth on it. All of the tables were dirty. I had to ask for mine to be cleaned. All of the tables had heavy sun glare because there are no shades on the front window. I had to sit with the sun in my eyes. Jalapeno Popper Burger: The quality of the meat and the size of the burger exceeded expectations. Jalapeno heat can vary, but they are easy enough to take off if you're worried about that.
