We were pleasantly surprised by Culinary Gangster! The staff member who helped us was very friendly and helpful. We visited at a slower time after the dinner rush, so the food came out quickly. I ordered the chicken avocado quinoa bowl which was quite tasty. The flavors married well together, and it was filling. We also ordered the sweet potato fries to share. These were decent (maybe a little salty for me, but that's a preference), and again the portion was large. My only critique is the restaurant's atmosphere itself is somewhat lacking. 5 stars overall! Food - 5 star. The popcorn cauliflower is a bit pricey as an appetizer, but for sure it's very tasty. I had the southwest salad, again. This is one of those places I've been to three times and I order the same thing every time. I'd like to try something else but every time I get there, I remember how good the Southwest salad was and I ended up getting the same thing. Service - 5 star overall. I almost always deduct for any place that puts the pressure on you to add a tip when you're placing your order and you're not even getting true table service. My rule is I will never tip in these circumstances after a few years of being "guilted" into tips and getting slow service, cold food, or apathetic or rude help with refills/request for extra sauce. I zero'd out the tip when i paid (as usual) and got total friendly service, extra sauce and tons of smiles with it! Total pro's - was so happy to throw a $5 in the tip jar when I left. This little shop is easy to find, has plenty of parking, a busy but chill vibe, and a playlist! You order at the counter and they'll bring your food to you. There were tons of choices and I had some decision paralysis but staff answered all my questions and were all very nice. I met a friend and we each got bowls, plus shared an order of very tasty crispy cauliflower. I didn't care for my breakfast bowl, but I'd chalk it up to a personal preference as to how the eggs were cooked, not that there was actually anything wrong with the food. I let the staff know and then I ordered a bowl of tomato soup that was easily in my top 3 tomato soups around the valley. DONT SLEEP ON THIS ONE!!!! Came here on a whim after seeing it on yelp. We were blown away! Sumit, the owner, was so kind and welcoming and made us feel right at home. The food was incredible! Everyone in our party ordered various things across the menu and not a single thing was even mid. It was all exceptional! The whole time we were there Sumit was walking around checking in with customers and taking care of everyone. Can't recommend this place enough! Normally, I go to the Phoenix location but lately it seems to be closed so we decided to check out the Scottsdale location which is closer to my friend. I love how they have both the indoor and outdoor seating and they actually have a fountain drink dispenser I really should've taken some pictures, but I got my usual which is the jalapeño popper burgers, the popcorn, cauliflower, and the gangster fries. What a great place, we got there at 12 by 1 there were no tables available to sit it. 8 tables inside, friendly staff and great burgers! I had the gyro burger no bun, my god daughter had the fruity pebble pancakes and my bestie had the Big Mak Salad. When it came it was thrown together and hardly any sauce on it. Two strips of gyro's under a well done burger. This place was disappointing for several reasons. The bacon cheeseburger did have good flavor but it was served without lettuce and tomato. You can add it for $2 which I found out later but I have never ordered a "quote"gourmet burger that was served without it. It is priced high enough to include this. Overall a great experience! Restroom was very clean and staff were very helpful. The food is delicious and the ingredients are very fresh. The reason they are getting a 4 star and not a 5 is because the salmon was a bit salty and the pasta salad lacked a little flavor. The portions are good and other than the salmon being salty the salad itself and dressing was very good. The Cesar salad wrap was very tasty. My husband said the burger was very good. The meat was seasoned and cooked perfectly. He normally doesn't like a lot of mayo but he said the kind they use and the blend of the other ingredients was really good. The ice tea was also very refreshing. The price was a bit on the higher side for other similar restaurants but I would say it's worth it because you can really taste the difference in the quality of the ingredients.
