What a nice place. It used to be a Qdoba, or another Mexican restaurant before, and I was in the mood for pho so it was in the right place at the right time. I really liked the ambiance. Stainless steel tables and clean white decor sets the restaurant apart from other Vietnamese pho places. The staff was attentive and friendly, and eager to serve. I ordered my usual pho and was delighted that the beef was not only very rare, but also extremely tender ... no cheap cuts here! The broth was hot and tasty, but with an edge of sweetness, which I found unusual. Not bad, just different. The side plate of mung bean sprouts, basil, lime, and jalapenos had an added portion of cilantro, a touch I had never seen before. I dumped everything except the basil in the bowl. I ordered the regular sized bowl and it was more than enough for a lunch, and it was no more expensive than any other pho restaurant. I look forward to returning and trying out the rest of the menu. I don't know what was with the waitress today, but she had a really bad attitude. Don't know her name but she was wearing glasses, with braces and with arm tattoo. You need to accept that you were wrong if you got the order wrong and not talk down to the customer when you made the mistake. There's four adults, where did you get five orders? We were never once mean or rude to the waitress about the order. Our order was supposed to be three number 2's and one order of number 20. You told us it was four orders on number 2's and one order of number 20. And so we tried repeating our order but you said you got it right, and yet you said the order wrong again, so we went ahead and tried to correct you. (Like I said we were never rude to you). You rolled your eyes told us that we were wrong when we repeated the order to you when you had four of number 2's. Why? What's the point of rolling your eyes, giving us the side eye, huffing and puffing, telling the elder to pretty much to be quiet? And then go to your other coworker and look at us and talk crap? So sad that we know the owner, I've been a customer since his previous business and he's such a hard working man and really nice, knows what hospitality means. Beautiful bright clean restaurant. Very friendly service. The Pho was very good, clean, a slightly sweet taste at first but very clean both. I ordered a large and had a little head turn with the portion, I thought there should be more broth. I usually have a lot of broth left over and I usually take it home, heat it and sip on it like tea but wasn't much to take home. I may ask for more broth and noodles next time. The Nc béo hành trn (Scallions in Oil) was good, I was hoping to get in fatty broth but that's more for my homemade Pho. The little extra of the non pull apart chopsticks makes a difference. My standards for Pho and the environment for which it is made and served has increased over the years and restaurants like this are why. Are you ready for this? I was so distracted by their floors that it was hard to focus on the food. There's a thin film of something on the tiled floors that makes it very slippery to walk on. I think the staff have all figured out the right shoes to wear. But since it was my first time...I had to tread really carefully to get to the table, to and from the bathroom, and to exit, moving at a ridiculous snail's pace. In fact, when I was at the bathrooms, there was an elderly woman with a walker and I could barely hold the bathroom door open for her because in trying to push against the hefty door, I was slipping and losing my balance. It's such a bizarre thing to write about for a restaurant review, but please, kill the film with vinegar! The pho tasted good and was generously portioned (soup wise). Excellent Pho restaurant! New, clean, large location. Prices are similar as everywhere in the area but portions are big and the flavors are perfect! Service is fast and friendly. We ordered the vermicelli bowl with pork, and fatty brisket/tendon pho. Both dishes had plenty of meat and were tasty. The brisket/tendon isn't listed on the menu but they are happy to make whatever combo pho you ask for. The vermicelli bowl had plenty of cucumber and veggies, I've been to places where they skimp on that so I was happy that the dish was served with plenty. Note, after you finish you pay at the counter, which I prefer so you don't have to wait at the table for a bill. read more

Our family wanted to get a Vermicelli bowl and the Phoenix restaurant on Highway 99 was not open. So we yelped a new place and Basil showed up in my search. Looking at the menu and reviews, it seemed like a place to try! We called ahead and our order was ready within 15 minutes. The staff were friendly despite the COVID-19 situation going on during my visit. We ordered #19, #20, and the grilled chicken vermicelli bowls that came out to around $30 with tax before tip, which is not bad for takeout for 3 people. I ordered the grilled pork vermicelli bowl and it was packaged well with a good amount of pork, veggies, and noodles. The pork was very tender and flavorful! The grilled chicken was dry but I feel like that is typical of grilled chicken vermicelli bowls. The only reason why I did not give this place a 5 star review is our #20 order which included shrimp and pork only had 2 small pieces of shrimp... Overall, I wouldn't mind coming back here again. Perhaps next time I would try their pho or rice bowls and maybe dine in depending on if restaurants start to open up again! read more

I have to shoutout Basil because I finally found a banh mi that tastes as good as my favorite banh mi resto in Boise. This place was PACKED when we came in to pick up our to-go order, which is always a good sign. I was shocked by how inexpensive the pho is for how much you get. My husband and I shared a large and it was more than enough for both of us. In fact, the sandwich and soup were under $20. I will say that if you want the most flavorful pho broth, you should go to Pho Hung. But Basil is great for tasty, large portions for a good price. read more

Found this place after taking my kid to the crazy indoor trampoline place up the street. Wanted to make a stop and get a pho fix to see how it was with the wife. Had the usual dac biet pho special as usually also order the com tam rice plate for the wife and a side of guo cuon fresh spring rolls. The service was great we got a seat right away and our server took our order real quick. The pho good so was the rice plate the spring rolls could use some work. Broth should have been made a long time ago. So it's mainly assembly. Assembling your order as to what you want inside your soup. Should that take 45 min???? It's not like the place was jam packed, it's not! Another thing, the one who was assigned to the cashier, her name is Kelly (wearing red and blue shirt) has an attitude. You can't be in a service oriented business if you don't know how to handle your customers. I asked you to follow up on our order, instead of being apologetic for a slow service, you just outright ignored me and when I asked again you said "your order will be served when it's ready". Very rude!! If there's no Kelly in your staff then the guy server lied to me to avoid having any bad reviews... the only reason why I got the name Kelly is coz I asked him so I can put her name on my review. So much better than last year, last year I was so disappointed in the broth lacking all sorts of flavors. They've got a new cook & they know what they're doing in the kitchen! I got the #2 minus tripe & add more tendon, it was close to perfect, I was completely blown away with the amount of meat, almost too much! Flavors were on point, noodles perfectly chewy, and the two servers in the morning did their jobs respectively. Their pho is consistently so good. I've dined in and done take out. The noodle texture is great, they give a lot of meat and the meat quality is good too. You never see that weird blue/grey sheen on the beef slices like you do at other low quality restaurants. Don't forget to try their Vietnamese coffee too - it'll keep you buzzing. read more

The banh mi here is soo good and seems to be made with meat that is fresh and not overly processed like a lot of banh mi places out there. I've been here over a dozen times now and it is consistently great. One downside I do have to say is their bun. I ordered the bbq pork with an egg roll bun and it was missing the lettuce and lots of fresh herbs. Basil has won my heart over again because they are under new management! We came here when they first opened and the pho was too sweet and bland. We recently came back after 3 years and the pho broth is phenomenal! Even my mother who never eats pho out said this was good. The regular size is a large at most places because I used to order a large at other places to share with my daughter and sometimes she would eat all the noodles, but here at basil, even with the regular size I still had plenty leftover for me to eat. Very chic inside, kind of felt like you were sitting in a downtown Pho place with all the cute furniture and decorations around the place It actually took us a while to go try this new place out just because there's so many other options around the area and we just love so many other places more to float away from them. We ordered the Pho , spring rolls, and a rice plate with pork. Pho - Kind of had a weird taste to it... Almost like too much star anise and cloves inside the broth. Not really my cup of tea as I prefer a meatier feeling. Yes their beef was super fresh and the portions were huge, but including the herbs and the soup and the chilli oil on the table, this was a No for me. Rice plate with grilled pork - More like stir fried pork with rice, as the plate came out looking more like teriyaki than vietnamese food. Taste was good (esp the sauce) but not really worth the price as I would rather go get Terayaki Spring Rolls - Really good and surprising actually !!! if I recall correctly, the spring rolls don't have any green veggie in it which was kind of odd to me, but everything taste bomb inside the spring roll. read more

I am not saying the food is bad. It is not. But it is not Authentic Vietnamese food. It is Americanized Vietnamese food. If you order ANY noodle or vermicelli dish in Vietnam, you get a huge pile of Vietnamese herbs. I ordered a vermicelli dish here and did not even get a sprig of basil.....which is IN THEIR NAME. Instead, I got 60% vermicelli, 30% Iceberg lettuce and bean sprouts and some slices of cucumber....(all American ingredients...NOT Vietnamese) and 10% meat. It is the herbs in Vietnamese cooking that make it unique. At least put in some basil!! read more
