I wish this place had more business. I went to dine in and was solo. They have amazing food. It's delicious, hot and made to order. Every time a phone order was made I could hear the chef starting up the vent hood. I'll definitely be back. I love to see a long-term, local, small business thrive!

Average thai snd vietnamese restaurant, but it's one of the only options in the texas city area. Ordered the general tso's chicken, which wasn't as spicy as we had hoped. The chicken curry dish was not the best, although there was a very generous serving of chicken. The spring roll was small and a little overcooked. The inside is quiet and basic. Indoor tables for small or big groups. Parking is right outside and convenient

    Pad Thai... OMG THE WORST.

Ok probably the worst Thai food I've ever had Yelpers. Pad Thai was absolutely TERRIBLE. Chicken Curry was TERRIBLE. Fried Pork rolls were just ok. Service was sub standard if that. Would I return... DEFINITELY NOT. I was very disappointed with my experience here at Basil House. I don't mean to be so harsh in my review but I believe it's accurate. So let it be written... So let it be CLOSED.

Felt rushed to order and when we weren't ready took around 10 minutes before coming back to the table. Green curry tofu texture was strange and tasted kinda like soap. Lemongrass Beef bowl was half filled with iceberg lettuce and shredded carrots. No music or ambiance. Would not recommend.

The food was delicious. We've had the red and yellow curry. We've also had general Tso chicken. Never had a bad meal.

Used to be really good but has gone downhill. I think they use too many premade pastes not fresh anymore.

A great little spot to stop when you're ready for a delicious Thai meal that really hits the spot!…read more I was passing through and had never tried The Garden Thai before, but I'm so glad I did. Thai is my favorite food, so I can be a little picky--it can definitely be hit or miss for me--but this place was a HIT. The Pad Thai was exceptional: flavorful, fresh, and perfectly balanced without being overly salty or sweet, which can sometimes happen with Pad Thai. The fresh spring rolls were delicious, and the Tom Yum soup was absolutely perfect. And I have to mention the service because it makes such a difference! A great attitude from the staff can completely change the vibe of a restaurant, and everyone here was attentive, welcoming, and very well trained. It made the entire experience that much better. Thank you for the delicious food and wonderful service! My visit was actually a while ago, but I'm finally taking the time to catch up on my reviews, haha--and this was definitely one I wanted to come back and write. Highly recommend!

They don't use msg. : )…read more They can make what they call 'weakened version' (at least I think that's what she was saying) of menu items, making them without the usual sauce, but with salt (and sugar, as it turns out) - which is lifesaving for people traveling with chronic health issues who really shouldn't be eating out at all - (except if you're super sensitive to sugar...) I liked the relaxed atmosphere. I wanted to try sitting outside but it was too windy and there was dust and leaves and crap blowing around. The water tasted good, which is very rare for restaurants these days! Of course they served it in old plastic cups, though. They include the tax when 'recommending' a tip amount (of 20, 22 or 25%!) - um, that's a bit sketchy, guys.... So is not having the prices on the menu - it came to over $50 for two dishes and one drink.

The tom yum soup with shrimp was a strong 9. The whole red snapper (market price) was delicious...9/10. The chicken satay by itself was a 7 but paired with the peanut sauce that had a hint of coconut took it to a 10. And the sticky rice was a 10, I couldn't get enough. I appreciated being asked our spice preferences on each dish. For dessert we shared the mango sticky rice. It was so yummy. It's served warm and is a great treat after a good meal.

I've gone about five times now and this was by far my least favorite experience (I still liked it, but I was a little disappointed), which was unfortunate since this was my parent's first experience here. My only issues were the food, so here's my opinion on each one we ordered: 1. Thai Tea - 4.8/5 - Definitely one of the best Thai Teas at a restaurant. Though I could still use more of the Thai Tea base flavor rather than milk, everyone at my table still enjoyed this drink. 2. Red Curry - 4.5/5 - Quite nice and had very good flavor. I don't love the addition of bell peppers in here, but that's a personal preference. 3. Pad See Ew - 3/5 - Kind of basic. Nothing made it stand out and noodles this kind of stuck together and became mushy. 4. Pad Thai - 3/5 - I've gotten this twice before, and for some reason it just tasted completely different and nothing like what Pad Thai should actually taste like. Not bad, but just not what you want when eating a Pad Thai. Noodles were also pretty mushy. 5. Steamed Fillet Snapper - 4/5 - Fairly clean and nice tasting, but just a little too plain for my taste. Still, a great option if you want something lighter for your meal. 6. Rib Eye Pepper Steak Thai Style - 4/5 - I really liked the sauce for this one and the beef was cooked very well, but the garlic they chose to put on top was extremely bitter and ruined my thoughts on the dish. I love this place, but this experience was the first time I've ever questioned going back here again. I hope this time was just a fluke.

Also wished that the peanuts were on the side rather than on the dish by default, so I'll keep that in mind. 5/5 Kao Pad - Spice level 1.5 seems wimpy, but it is perfect that way. SO extremely flavorful and the steak is so nicely cooked. Also love the tomatoes. 5/5 Ahi Tuna - I legit could go here and only get this. Everything about it is so perfect (other than the wasabi, because who invited wasabi to this perfect dish?) 4.5/5 Panang Curry - Very enjoyable, though I do wish there was more protein to the dish. 3/5 Asparagus and Crab - Kind of a disappointment. I don't think the two complement each other in any meaningful way. 3/5 Chilean Sea Bass - Chilean Sea Bass is so incredibly overrated. For the price and what we got, it simply left us wanting more of something else (I forgot what the dish is called... whoops, there is a picture) 4.5/5 Raad Prick - Plenty flavorful, though I do feel that there should be more to this dish like vegetables, but it does allow the fish to stand out.

He's been our waiter the last 5 or so visits regardless of when we come or what part of the restaurant we sit in, and he somehow manages to elevate the already fantastic experience we have.
