The restaurant gets very crowded around dinner time, but luckily the wait time was reasonable. The soup for the pho is not too greasy, and it tastes neat and clean. If you prefer a thicker and stronger-flavored broth, this might not be your favorite. I recommend their lemongrass soup (bun bo hue). The noodles are thicker and chewier than standard pho noodles, and the soup has richer flavors. Their soup was not as flavorful as I would like, but this cleaner version surely will be more approachable.

Great spot with quick service, low prices, and good Vietnamese food. We have been coming to Basil Leaf for years now and they are always quite good at quickly taking your order and getting the food out shortly thereafter. They are very knowledgeable about how to adjust each dish for food allergies and quick to fix any issues with the food if it's not exactly what you ordered or even when we forgot to include one modification. They provide all the traditional fixings with each dish and have several sauces on the table, as one would expect. The place is often packed with regular customers, but even when there's a wait it doesn't take very long at all since their service is so prompt.

This was a great pho place in ABQ! The broth was flavorful and the broken rice was pretty good as well. Service is good and food comes out quickly. I highly recommend if you're in the ABQ area!

Decided to take hubby here because he loves Pho and it was a cold day. Upon arrival we were shocked to see how packed it was and that we were put about 10th on the wanting list so we figured it was going to take a crazy amount of time to get in but to our surprise we were seated in about 10-15 minutes. Restaurant was nice and clean and the staff were super friendly and very fast. As soon as we were seated we were asked for our drink orders and shortly after that for our food order. Food took less than 10 minutes to come out and the Pho was everything my husband wanted and more. He was very happy with his Pho and Spring roll. I don't like Asian food so I decided to play it safe and just order a fried rice with grilled chicken. To my surprise the dish was very tasty and I can definitely see myself coming back to eat the fried rice again. I also ordered the strawberry lemonade and it was absolutely delicious. It was so flavorful and creamy. Will definitely come back

My first visit to this establishment was August 21, 2025. I joined a friend there shortly after the lunch hour rush. Even then, the parking lot was packed, which is a sign of what a popular place this is. There is good signage. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Menu has numerous choices. I had beef skewers with rice, and my friend had shrimp over rice noodles. We were both delighted with the entrées. Prices are very reasonable. Decor is relaxed with lots of natural light.

This place was very clean!! The parking could be a challenge, but they've got some parking spaces in the alley as well. We had spring rolls and pho, both of them are fresh and tasty. They are reasonably priced as well. Highly recommended for the cold days.

Clay pot rice! All I have to say is so delicious! First time here and will be coming back on my travels. I love the rice towards the bottom of the clay pot was crispy with caramelized with the sauce. This place is busy. So I recommend coming early or coming in their off times. The wait staff is very nice and very accommodating. The rice was so good, I bout some lemongrass noodles and the beef jerky with papaya salad. The papaya salad had great flavor along with the shredded beef jerky, which reminded me of Vietnam. There was a waiting list when I arrived, but it wasn't too bad. Enjoyed a beer while waiting and made my night! I will be back!!

Service was awful and a close of 9:00 means come at 8:00 because 8-20 and on you'll be rushed out and get little to ko service. We never got drinks and were told we had to order right away. At 9:00 we may have been shoved out the door!

A great spot for Vietnamese food. This clean and cute spot has a large seating area for groups of all sizes. We ordered pho and vermicelli noodles and mango sticky rice for dessert. The soup came out very hot, the noodles were not overcooked, and the best part was the freshness of the basil and water sprout toppings. Paired with jalapeño slices and lime, of course. The flavor of the broth is so good! Just nutrient rich and tasty. The vermicelli noodles weee just as good. I would have liked more pickled veggies, but overall all the flavors blended together nicely. Lastly, we were served the mango sticky rice for dessert. I would have like fresh mango over thawed frozen mango because it was ice cold when served. The rice was served hot and coconut cream was very yummy paired with it.

Three words - clay pot rice! So good that I dream about this dish! Easily one of the best clay pot rice I've ever had! Highly recommend the special clay pot rice which is mixture of chicken, pork and shrimp. Restaurant is very busy. We were lucky to get a table since we came early for dinner. But we watched the lines grow as we dined. Service is typical of a small VN place. But I will continue to come for the clay pot rice!!

After a trip to pick up some firewood, I was craving a bahn mi. Found that Basil Leaf makes their own bread, so decided to check it out. We ordered a bunch- my bf got pho with rare steak and the pork egg rolls, he loved both and enjoyed how spicy they made it on his request. I got the shrimp spring rolls and the lemongrass chicken sandwich. The spring rolls were big and came with peanut dipping sauce. I wish the spring rolls had mint and/or cilantro in them, they were just a little bland with shrimp, noodles and lettuce. The lemongrass chicken sandwich was amazing. Chicken was juicy and well seasoned. Loved that there were peanuts in it and the chili crisp I added made it perfect! Will definitely be heading back. We got our food to go, so the photo is not as pretty as I assume it would have looked inside the restaurant.

Overall: Basil Leaf doesn't quite live up to the hype but it serves decent Vietnamese food that can satisfy a craving. Food: Beef Spring Rolls: These big spring rolls are overfilled with noodles and could benefit from some more veggies. The sauce was too peanuty. Shrimp Egg Rolls: These were fairly crispy and I appreciate that it actually tasted like shrimp. However, the filling was very dense, like cooked shrimp paste. Shrimp & Chicken Crepe: These savory Vietnamese crepes are filled with your protein of choice, onions, and bean sprouts. They used fairly large sized shrimps. I just wish it was a little crispier. Beef Clay Pot: This had broccoli, mushrooms, and cashews mixed in. It was very tasty but maybe a little under seasoned. Viet Iced Coffee: Apparently, this is one of the best versions that my partner has had. It has a slightly nutty chocolatey finish. Service: 4 The servers were nice and patient with our questions. Food did not take too long to come out. Ambiance: 4 The restaurant is located in its own small plaza, but there isn't much parking for a fairly busy restaurant. The restaurant itself is clean but a little noisy.

The cold cuts were flavorful, the bread was fresh, and the meat to bread ratio was just right since I like more meat than bread. This is an excellent option for a quick lunch, but I would recommend staying to eat if you can. The decor is simple, the space is clean, and there are a few tables available. It does get busy during the lunch rush, but the line moves quickly and is well worth the wait. While the banh mi definitely steals the show, there are plenty of other options on the menu. Their banh cuon, thin rice noodles filled with ground pork and wood ear mushrooms, was good, though still second to the sandwiches. They also offer pate chau, a flaky puff pastry filled with pork pate, including a New Mexico style version with chicken and green chile. They have a variety of Vietnamese desserts like che, which I did not get a chance to try this time. My coworker loved their traditional Vietnamese hot coffee. I do not drink coffee, but I did enjoy one of their smoothies, which was refreshing and delicious. Overall, CODA Bakery is a go to spot for authentic Vietnamese flavors and one of the best places in Albuquerque for banh mi.

It's not down to an agreed list of two or three. When you open up the question, you get a dozen or more answers. That situation can mean many or all of several things: (1) Maybe Albuquerque really is VN food heaven; (2) Maybe there is no consensus on what constitutes really good VN food; or (3) Maybe most people pick the first VN restaurant they like and stick with it. I did #3 for years, sticking with Vietnam 200 and Viet Taste. Well, things change -- great restaurants slip and deliver mediocre experiences. Or we just get tired of same old, same old, and want to look around. I began looking around with a trip to Saigon City, an old restaurant in a slick new location in the same strip with Pars Middle Eastern restaurant in 25 Way. I went last night with my daughter and son-in-law, both experienced eaters. I previewed their menu on their website (a good thing when faced with a huge menu). I selected three items I wanted to try. Leaving the Pho for a later trip, I chose to begin with the green mussels stir fried and dished up with spicy veggie bits. There were six on the plate. I had to move quickly to get two of them. What a treat! I could make a meal of a plate of six of these. Next, I went for B3, the code for grilled chicken and veggies over vermicelli noodles with chili sauce. I like my food spicy. After the mussels, my hopes were up. Well, B3 was a very tasty dish. I would order it again anytime. Fresh, fresh, fresh. But pretty mild in the spice category. The chicken was nicely spiced, and there were red flakes in the vermicelli noodles, but not nearly enough of them. I tried my daughter's pork and vermicelli and thought it a bit better. We finished the meal with sicky rice & mango. The menu offers only sticky rice and banana, which is itself a very nice dessert, but our server mentioned that we could have mango instead for slightly higher charge. Since sticky rice with mango in coconut sauce is one of the five greatest desserts in the world, I went for it with gusto. This dish was the only slight stumble in the meal. I thought the rice was a bit underdone and the sauce not too thrilling. Not bad, but not at the standard set by the other dishes. I look forward to returning soon to try the pho. The service was very good, very friendly, and very helpful. I recommend sitting near the front of the restaurant and away from the service area where the staff conduct loud conversations among themselves. The interior of the restaurant is very nicely decorated and lighted. I was very comfortable eating at this fine restaurant.

Fish sauce is going to be the grey area because thats always personal preference, it was good, but would say more on the fishy side, which my fiance liked. Im used to my moms sauce which is more on the sweeter side. I also got an Vietnamese iced coffee and I will say it is probably the best Vietnamese ice coffee that I've had in thr ABQ area. Its was strong and nice and smooth. It wasn't too sweet. The reason why I say this is the best iced Vietnamese cofee I've had in ABQ is because other places, the Vietnamese coffee is bitter or its not balanced enough with flavor. At over $8 for a cup, it's pricey but if i need a Vietnamese coffee fix, this will be a good to spot. I will say they keep it really clean in there and the white esthetic was pleasing on this sunny Sunday while we were eating in there.

First, impression, the service was polite and understanding. The sandwich and drink came out within 10 min. Their Banh Mi was flavorful and was in a 9in roll that was lightly crispy and filled pretty well. I am used to shorter rolls that are stuffed way more. I felt like I ate more bread than toppings, otherwise I would rate it higher. It's about a $12 sandwich, on par with Subway footlong prices. The fruit tea was great, although I question the practicality of the canister it was served in. Instead of a plastic cup with a straw/no straw, it was in a plastic can that you can open like a soda can on top. I disliked how I couldn't reseal it or reuse it. If I wanted to recycle it, I'd have to put effort taking out the lemon wedges, which I did in order to. So, if I had the choice, I wouldn't get those cans. Everything costed about $20 before tip. I think in the future, I'll ask if I can get extra meat and veggies to make the Banh Mi feel more full. The place was also very bright and clean. I liked the atmosphere where there's plenty of seating. They also have every table with soup utensils and condiments bc they also serve pho.
