I would've given another star BUT upon walking in, we were not greeted and stood there for some time. Finally, a young lady saw us and we were seated. No one came for roughly 15 minutes and when we were, it was down and dirty, what do you want. We ordered and the food was out quick and it was splendid!! Very good food with awesome flavor! This place is fantastic! It definitely lives up to the ratings. We had the spring rolls, and the peanut sauce was excellent. My wife got the grilled chicken, and the marinade had a great flavor. Delicious! One of our fave meals on our trip. After eating so much dairy and green chile (hah!) we wanted some hearty noodle soup. Pho, bun bo hue, banh xeo-- everything was scrumptious and really hit the spot! Meats were tender in the noodle soups, broth flavorful and with depth, and banh xeo crepe was crispy enough and packed with all the fixings. Love coming here on cold days for pho, but my favorite is actually their hot clay pot rice dish. It's the best I've had in town, and since it comes in the hot pot, it stays piping hot the entire time you're eating it. I love that the rice gets crispy at the bottom too. This has been a 5-star restaurant for the 10 years I have lived here, but not today. We haven't been here for a while so I don't know how long things have been as they were today. First, friendliness: 1 star. No one seemed to be able to smile. It seemed beyond their ability. They did what they had to do ... and then started playing with their phones. The 4-piece shrimp roll was good and it came out way ahead of the phở (as it should). It was to share, but they couldn't bother to give side plates. So we both had to eat off one plate. The veggies for the phở was far too little. I bought extra "rare beef" for the phở, but the broth was so cold that the extra beef never cooked. By the time I was halfway through the broth was barely warm. The cashier is a friend of my wife, and so was very pleasant as she has always been. But I guess the management doesn't believe customer service is important anymore. Ambiance: *non existent*. The food here is so delicious. The dish options are a little different than you might find at other Vietnamese restaurants in town also. The vegetable Vietnamese crepe is big and delicious, as is the vegetarian meal with cut up egg rolls on top. Definitely a good amount of oil so not the healthiest options, but so yummy . The food was good but the chicken in the pad thai is flavorless, the phos are delicious and rich in flavor. But if you buy a drink and ask for no ice they will charge you extra. My son ordered a lemonade and he asked for no ice for the lemonade and they charged him an extra dollar. The service was great and food came out fast. How can I not give this place 5 stars! OMG! this is my first visit. How have I missed this place? By far this is the best vietnamese food in Albuquerque. First, we ordered a bottle of merlot, $15 for la terre. Order it! Appetizers fried tofu, perfection! Shrimp spring rolls wonderful. My daughter had the vegetarian egg roll noodle with peanut sauce. She loved it. Said its was amazing and delish that she can not put her finger on what makes it stand out. Not like any other peanut sauce she ever had. This is my favorite Vietnamese place ever! The fried shrimp egg rolls are to die for. Ownership has changed but the amazing service and food has not. It does get a little busy, especially during rainy, cold or snowy times but it is definitely worth the wait. You could always order takeout. I usually get the rare steak pho or the curry. I like the grilled pork spring rolls as well as the sandwiches. The portions are big and the prices are really good. It can get a bit loud, however, you do not have to raise your voice to speak to anyone at your table so it doesn't really matter. This may not be a big deal to some but to me, the "clean escape" foot door pulls in the bathroom are awesome. I also love that they serve sake, beer and wine. read more

It was ok but not great. And I was a bit shocked after all the awesome reviews. I thought my pho was fair but not ranked in the best pho I've had but not the worst. And they served it with lemon slices .... Which confused me. I did give it a try but it just doesn't go with lemon. I've never had pho served with anything but lime slices before. Also I felt I didn't get enough bean sprouts to put into a large bowl. My companion had their spring roll bun which wasn't very good. And mostly because the spring rolls were not good. I tried one of them and they are all completely packed with meat and not crispy enough. Is more like eating a hot dog that's wrapped in the fried wrapper but Asian flavors. But overall they weren't good. My other friend had the best dish I believe which was just the grilled pork plate with rice and side salad. I did enjoy their betel leaf wrapped beef appetizer. I would not say this place is bad overall. Avoid the spring rolls and be ready for a merely ok meal and service. I have heard mixed reviews on this place but heard that they recently renovated so my party and I decided to try it out. It's an amazing place! I've never been before the renovation but they did an amazing job with it. They have really fun puns on their shirts and within their menus, it's great. Still a favorite and never disappoints! The owner is always there checking on things and ensuring the best quality. There is always a continuous flow of customers for dine-in as well as to-go! We tried the lemongrass soup and it was spicier than planned so ordered the tofu Pho and were satisfied as always! We also had the grilled pork spring rolls and wonton soup - both were amazing! We've been many times now. Our favorites so far are the Tofu Stir-Fried Noodles, Lemongrass Chicken Vermicelli, Papaya Salad with and without the jerky, Tofu Crepe, and Grilled Betel Leaf Vermicelli. Obviously, we agree with Lorena Z. who wrote, "you can't go wrong no matter what you order. Everything I've tried here is delicious". That said, you have to speak up if you want them to add some spicy heat to your dish, and they have been out of chili sauce forever (but so has everyone else- last time I checked on Amazon it was $20 a bottle because it is so scarce). read more

If I can give a zero review I would. We waited a half hour after placing our food order. Noticed that everyone else around was being served, even people who arrived after we did. The waiter finally came back to the table and said " sorry, but your order didn't go through. What did you order?". This restaurant is one of few places in my mind where you can't go wrong no matter what you order. Everything I've tried here is delicious. Their fried rice is great, their grilled pork is superb (and not overly fatty/made with low quality meat like some other Vietnamese places I've tried), their pho is my favorite in ABQ that I've tried so far, and their hot tea is cheap and plentiful. My family loves their clay pot rice, and from the bites I tasted- I agree whole-heartedly. Everything here tastes like it was made with good quality ingredients. My family goes with me all the time ever since I introduced them. The portions are large, the staff are quick, and the restaurant is cleaner and much more modern than other Vietnamese places I've been to around ABQ. Lovely place to eat. read more

Best Vietnamese spot in Albuquerque in my opinion! I love that their name describes their food, there is Basil in almost every meal, and I am here for it! In the winter the Pho hits the spot. Such a light, but warm to the soul soup. The vermicelli noodle meals are also one of my favorites. So much FRESH food, for such a reasonable price. And that's the key here....FRESH! You can taste the freshness in everything they make. Lastly, the spring rolls, especially the Grilled Pork spring rolls. We've tried Basil Leaf a few times now. Love the Pho, Spring Rolls and the noodle dishes we've had. The only dis that I find sub-par is the Pad Thai. Came across this restaurant when my "go to" was closed for vacation. This is a busy place which I found interesting as it was 2pm on a Thursday afternoon. The shrimp spring roll was ok, the wrapper was kind of tough and up the peanut sauce was quite congealed, the taste was bland. The pho was quite good, the broth was flavorful while being light in texture. The rare beef which I ordered with the pho was too thick, tough, and not quite rare. The toppings for the pho were fresh, the only thing is that I prefer lime instead of lemon with pho. The Vietnamese coffee which I get to go, and enjoy on the way home was full of flavor and a generous portion. My only gripe is that the place has no soul. Wait staff are hurried, make no eye contact, and don't follow up on how the meal is going. They do not acknowledge a request, just walk away, and bring the request by dropping it off and walking away. I guess I can deal with it as my stand by until my regular is back from vacation. read more
