    Breakfast tacos

We had a great experience! They offer both brunch and lunch, so there are plenty of options to choose from. We ordered the breakfast tacos and the Korean BBQ sandwich, and both were absolutely delicious. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was one of our favorite parts. It's practically right on the water with a relaxed coastal vibe, and everything was clean and well kept. Definitely a spot we'd come back to!

I've had my eyes on this bistro for some time now. Glad my husband decided to stop in for some breakfast. It's cute and quaint and has great lighting. Makes the place feel open and breezy. There's patio seating out back with a beautiful view of the lake. Place your order at the counter and you'll be given a number to take to any table of your choice. It's a great place to sit with your laptop and get some work done or with a group of friends to grab a bite to eat. They have a delicious frozen rosé drink called, Frozé, you have to try it. They also offer beer by the bottle and wine. To eat I ordered the Evia Omelette and instead of the toasted sourdough bread I exchanged it for their Honey Butter Biscuit. It was delicious and the dish came with a side of cherry tomatoes and fresh greens tossed in a champagne vinaigrette. Yum!

The food was awesomely delicious! The atmosphere was lovely and clean. The service was good, they were friendly and accommodating. My only issue is that you order at the front and then get your own drinks. We ordered brunch foods for the most part. Chicken and waffles were flavorful, the chicken was tender and crispy and the sugar crystals in the waffle really made it! We also ordered the salmon Benedict, my only change was from fish to ham, but it was so flavorful, the sauce was perfectly seasoned and the hash brown rounds had a good flavor. I was pleasantly surprised because it is hard to find a good eggs Benedict. We ordered the parm truffle fries for the table and they were to die for. The aioli was on point! We did order a side of pancakes but we could have done with out. They were fine but not memorable. My son and I would definitely come back and bring our friends.

Stopped in at Basin Bistro for brunch and it did not disappoint. We ordered two Evio Classics -- one with scrambled eggs and sausage, and the other with bacon and two over-easy eggs. Both plates came with a biscuit and tater tots, which honestly stole the show. The tots were perfectly crispy and buttered so well, and the biscuit was warm and flavorful. We also shared a short stack of pancakes, which definitely satisfied the sweet tooth -- fluffy, delicious, and a great addition to the meal. Everything we had was excellent, and the staff was friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our visit. There's plenty of seating both inside and outside, and since it was such a beautiful day, we sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine with our food. Overall, a fantastic brunch spot and definitely one of the newer go-to places in Galveston when visiting. Highly recommend checking it out.

Gosh I cannot rave about this place enough. LOVE the outdoor seating. It's all right in a neighborhood with some cute shopping and a coffee shop. Food was seriously perfect, I can't wait to go back here. There was an older woman taking our order and we loved her she is so spunky and nice!!

Stopped by for breakfast. Everything was very tasty. The potato rounds are crunchy savory delish. Solid biscuit too. A nice little hidden gem on the island. Counter service (and the staff is sooo nice!) and a very relaxed ambiance. Sat on the patio and had a lovely late morning bite. True to the sign, this place has fresh fare + local charm!

The staff here were so friendly. Breakfast was fabulous! Outside there is cute scenery. Also had some yard games and shoos while waiting.

Those crispy rounds!!! We went to Sugar & Bean to get coffee and ended up at the Bistro. We got the chicken biscuits. They were huge! My daughter and I shared. The hubby got the tacos. My son in law got the Evia Classic breakfast. Everything was delicious and fresh. The lady who was at the register was so friendly and kind. She greeted each person in the door and asked about where they were from & was very personable! Great service!

I love this place! However, my favorite item, the Korean Cauliflower, was way, way too sweet and over sauced. Normally, it's fantastic.

The parking could get challenging. The view is nice especially if you get to sit outside. I tried the SMOKED OYSTERS KATIE It has a Mesquite smoked & grilled with jumbo lump crab, barbecue butter and bbq spices. It had bread on top of it too. The bread was hard and just was not for me. The oysters did have a different type of flavor to it. I can't explain the flavor it just didn't taste appealing to me. I also tried the GO TEXAN GULF SHRIMP RODEO For $46. It had Texas size shrimp feast of: jumbo grilled shrimp, blackened shrimp Veracruz & rice, rispy shrimp frogs, fried shrimp on fries, & Mexican shrimp cocktail. The jumbo shrimp was my favorite out of the whole thing. It was seasoned and had a spicy kick to it. The Mexican shrimp cocktail was strong on the tomato flavor. It had a bunch of shrimp mixed up in it along with some shrimp on the glass. This dish was not for me. It was a little spicy but overall I guess the tomato was too strong for me. I think people who enjoy something like michelada or bloody Mary's might like this. The shrimp that was on the skewer tasted a little burnt from the grill so it had that char taste.

That being said, it had been some time since I've gotten some proper fish-n-chips. I had to remedy that. Especially since the BBQ fiasco the other day, I was going to go on a hunger strike, but once I made the sign, I got potato chip fingers on it and started to eat it. So, I decided to fight fire with fire, and figured I would eat myself happy again. Which I'm never mad about. Sometimes I make myself angry just so I can eat myself happy. And now, the rest of the story. I have learned that I enjoy Cod fish for my fish-n-chips. And I think also Haddock. I am not a fisher nor a fish. So it's hard for me to say. But I know Cod is one for sure. I also sometimes have baby mouth and am afraid of new things. I do know I love my fish battered and deep fried. I also know that Shark Shack had good reviews for their fish, so, that was all I needed to hear. Plus, it was a perfect little eatery with bar seating, table seating, and gifts! So you can bet your bottom dollar tomorrow I ordered the English fish-n-chips. Boy oh boy. Just like how Britain colonized all those countries back when it was the cool thing to do, these fish and chips colonized my taste buds. Respectfully. This plate came with FIVE logs of fish. FIVE! Maybe they were tubes of fish? Honestly, I don't care what shape they came in, they looked perfectly crunchy and perfectly brown and perfectly fish. The super cool extra bonus? These fish came with CRISPIES! I've only ever seen crisps with fish from Long John Silvers, whose fish is probably as far from Cod or Haddock as legally possible. I actually think one of my pieces of fish from there had shoelaces. Didn't matter. Still ate it. Respectfully. (If you aren't privileged enough to know what fish crispies are, there little batter pieces that fry or fall off the fish as they cook. Basically little crumblies. If you make a wish over a fork of them and get the forkful in your mouth without dropping any, your wish will come true). Homemade tartar sauce was good, but there was a certain flavor profile that I wasn't a fan of. It was still good to use on the fish rods, it just tasted a little too much out of the tartar sauce field for me. The meal was wrapped up nice and tight with lovely square-cut fries. Perfect doneness. Perfect Ketchup vessel. I could just stare at a pile of them all night. Mostly because I'm weird. I decided to lean more toward the 4-star side, so here we are. While in Galveston for a quick weekend getaway, we wanted to go out for dinner. Katie's was my first choice, but the wait was too long, so I pulled up Yelp to see what else was recommended. Shark Shack had great reviews, and when we arrived there was zero wait, so we went for it. The one area where I docked a star was the service. We were seated immediately but waited quite a while for our server to appear, and then even longer to get our drinks. I was so excited for a margarita, but when it arrived in a plastic cup, I was immediately disappointed. Plastic cups are for the beach and nightclubs, not a restaurant with a bar. And that's not where the awful drink experience ended -- it was so weak and just not good at all. Our server seemed so disinterested in everything: taking our order, answering questions, and when it came time to pay, we had to wait ages to see him and wave him down. The food was decent with no major complaints. It wasn't "blow your mind" amazing, but it was good. The owner -- well, I assume he was the owner -- came and spoke to us when he found out my husband was military, and he was really nice, friendly, and very supportive of the military community, offering a very generous military discount. That definitely raises the rating and is much appreciated, so thank you. Overall, the big fixes for me would be the service and the drink situation. I can't say we would rush to come back just because we love Katie's for the service, food, and drinks..

I had so many places bookmarked and many of them had nearly identical cuisines, mostly centered around seafood. But Shuck's had the highest ratings of the bunch, and the key to my heart is an extra tenth or two of a star rating. I ordered the panko parmesan oysters to start, which were... fine. My wife ordered the fried pickles, and while fried pickles are pretty much the same no matter where you try them, they indeed hit the spot here. We ordered our son some chicken tenders and fries, which I was happy to steal a few bites of, despite it being pretty typical. You can't throw chicken tenders in my face and expect me not to indulge. Lastly, we finished with a lobster roll. And while we prefer the Connecticut style lobster rolls (hot with butter), this New England style version was pretty enjoyable too. Our server was super friendly and treated us like we were old pals. It was a nice way to start off our Galveston adventure.
