I think this is my favorite once a week treat place. Their breakfast and lunch are both good. I like their biscuit sandwiches in morning because they are super buttery and the eggs and meat go well with them. But I love their lunch more than anything. Tuna melt is perfect when you need something that is just classic. And if you like burgers then get the bacon burger. It's a huge patty cooked on the griddle, bacon, cheese, chili, and other toppings and it's so filling and honestly one of the best simple burgers in town. I like the dipped fried cause of the chicken fry on them but their onion rings are always a good choice. They close early which some times stinks cause I would love it for dinner but it's clutch on a Friday when you just want something to treat yourself to. The staff is friendly and the prices are good. The space is small but homey and I honestly like coming here at about noon cause it's packed and you can feel the positive vibes. The Basket Shack is the very definition of local. Since 1967 (56 years) they have been serving up big hearty breakfasts and tasty lunches to locals. A very small business but big on southern hospitality. It was fun to watch the patrons talking to each other and interacting with the servers and cooks. I went with the standard eggs over medium, real hash browns and bacon (always extra crispy, lol). It's a very cozy place so can watch your meal being cooked and talk to the cook preparing it. So cool. A nice big breakfast at a very reasonable price. A rarity in this day and age. Listening to the counter chatter, it's a must I get back there asap and check out one of their big juicy burgers. A very cool local business that's been turning out great meals for many years. Found this place near where my son and his wife just bought their home. What a find!!! This is a quintessential Mom and Pop Southern diner. We came on a Saturday so only had the menu options (which are amazing) but during the week they have a meat and vegetable offering that looks delicious. They've been in business over 60 years and are super friendly. Felt like eating with family even for our very first time. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from a country diner. We've been living in Canton 17 years and never ate at Basket Shack. Driven by many a time. We stopped by today (Saturday) for breakfast. The dining room is a little small but they opened up another table for us. The staff is very friendly. I had the country ham with eggs, biscuit and gravy. My wife had a BLT with fries. We wanted to like it. We love mom & pop places! Clientele was blue collar which usually means great food. We visited on Monday about 11:30. My husband's fried chicken was great. Side veggies ok. My chili cheese dog tasted a bit off. Hot dogs can be iffy according to the quality of the meat. Nausea and upset stomach the rest of the day. We noticed that when each table was cleared it was not wiped down. Everyone seemed friendly and the service was fast. Since the sign said opened since 1967 we just expected more, I guess. Flavor and portions were good and I had a sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit with hash browns topped with onion and cheese, and a side of gravy. While my wife had a plain biscuit with strawberry jam. The biscuits are large and the crumb structure is more like a roll and not the flaky or buttermilk style. But still a decent choice for a breakfast sandwich. The gravy and hash browns were on point. Despite it still being before noon, I saw a number of patrons getting burgers and these appear to be a favorite. This place was great! Completely packed with locals telling stories and tall tales. The burger was amazing. 8 ounce patties!!! The waitress actually asked me to reconsider getting the double cheeseburger because it was a full pound of meat. They have these battered fries that are incredible. I don't like most battered fries because they have a strong seasoning. These are just dipped in flour, from what I understand. It's like a tempura batter. Very filling but delicious!! They also have plate lunches that people were bragging about but I could see the giant patties cooking so I went with the cheeseburger. The people are really nice and the food is great! If you want to sit quietly and have a serious conversation, this may not be the best place. If you want to stop and have some great food and make a couple of new friends and laugh with very friendly locals then this is your spot. You will thank me!! I will definitely be back. First time here recently to try the burger. We opted for a custom burger (not on the menu) - choosing lettuce, tomato and condiments. Many of the offerings included chili and I didn't want to go down that road. The burger was good but cooked thoroughly - not given an option for any less than well-done. I had mashed potatoes as a side and wow they were delicious. The other person had fries - they were hand cut, steak fries. Good but could have been a little more cooked. The iced tea was not to my liking so I'll not get that next time. While the burger was good, I'll be getting a vegetable plate or maybe trying a meat and two sides next time. read more

Well was recommended this place and have it a shot. Let's start with service is terrible. Was never treated after I sat for about 10 minutes the server came and tossed a menu down and said what ya drinking. I get being a hometown family owned place, but be more cheerful and acknowledgeable. Ordered a chili cheese burger and breaded fries. Didn't take long to get the food at all. The burger was fresh not frozen which was really great, but the amount of grease is overwhelming. The gloved hand print of grease on top of the bun was a nice touch, just added more to the already soaked bottom bun. The fries were breaded and fried but really had no flavor and were cold on the inside. Never got checked on while eating and I got to listen to the staff talk about using the food that has turned and gone bad as to what to use it for the next days special, i politely got up, paid and left. This was my first time having Basket Shack. Picked up a to go order for myself, my wife, and my son. Saw a "For Sale By Owner" sign our front, so I was a little apprehensive. Went in and it was a really old school cozy diner setup. I liked it. Laughed to myself at the specials board where "No tomatoes (them danged ole tomato fleas)" was written. I had the super burger with cheese and bacon and liked it a lot. The batteries fries were amazing too. My wife ordered the same burger but wasn't a huge fan but she loved the onion rings. I am not sure how this place got 4 stars because this is the dirtiest place I have seen, the so called cooks not wearing hair net while trying to cook. I was sitting at the bar with 3 maybe 4 people at the bar and it took 10 minutes to get a drink order and such a rude bitch. One customer said he can not eat biscuits so she picked it up with her plan hands and out the biscuit back on the tray with the rest of them. As a Canton native, I grew up eating Basket Shack and have the fluffy rear end, clogged arteries and high blood pressure to prove it. And you can't find a happier person in the world than me, because the Basket Shack's food is DELICIOUS. I've had a lot of great experiences with this place over the years. First, I can't say enough about the food. Their fries are double battered, hunks of killer deliciousness and you won't find more burgers like Basket Shack's this side of heaven. The waitress, Reva, is always a trip, and the owner is a really swell fellow, too. My father once lost his wallet in the parking lot. He only realized it when he went to pay. The owner comped the meal, and asked my dad to leave him his number. It later turned out that another customer had found my dad's wallet under a car in the parking lot and turned it in. If that's not a one-of-a-kind experience, then I don't know what is. Though I usually just get a hamburger, the Basket Shack also writes their daily menu of Southern fare - biscuits, meat loaf, chicken breasts, veggies -- on a white board. Menus? They don't need no stinking menus. Also, be prepared to wait five minutes or so. The dining area is small and this place is hopping at peak breakfast and lunch times, but people are courteous and generally eat quickly. They're only open until 2pm and are closed Sundays, so plan your trip carefully! read more

The tables and floors were not clean, I'm not looking for perfection but the debris on the floor was troubling. We ordered burgers, fries, onion rings and chicken tenders. It seems like all the customers knew each other, and the waitress greeted them all by name when they walked in. I ordered the cheeseburger and battered fries. Just really disappointed with both.
