There are plenty of ice cream parlors to choose from in the city, and normally I would try a mom & pop type, but Baskin Robins still hits the spot They boast 32 flavors, and this location seemed to have a huge variety with none out of stock. You can order sundaes, scoops (cup, sugar cone, or cake cone), pints, ice cream cakes, etc This location is tucked away in Rice Village, barely visible from the road if not for the vibrant pink and white signage The space was clean, and the staff was efficient. No overly pleasant, but I was in and out within a couple minutes Some tips: Parking is rough in the Village. There are a couple designated 20min parking spots in front of the parlor if you're lucky. You can pay to park, or you can find street parking behind Little Woodrow's on Chaucer street. Join BR rewards for points, deals, and a free scoop on your birthday Cheers!!

Baskin-Robbins is a great neighborhood ice cream joint. I was unable to order the Thanksgiving Turkey ice cream cake at my regular location so I placed it at the University location for a Wednesday pick up. The location was clean and the service was efficient. Our cake was ready to go during my pick up window and it was the most popular dessert at our Thanksgiving dinner.

Great place to get a large variety of ice cream flavors, located in Rice Village close to Rice University. There are plenty of places to get ice cream in the village, and this is one of the more affordable places ($4.19 for one scoop, $5.79 for two). We got a two scoop vanilla/strawberry and two scoop mocha almond fudge/lemon custard. Since a 2 scoop sundae is only 20 cents more, we went with that. There were 3 people working, but each had their responsibiilty (one responsible for cakes, one for mobile order, and one for walk-in) so we waited a bit. We thought the lemon custard was very good, and it mixed surprisingly well with the rich, dark coffee ice cream. There are a few tables to the side, so we finished our ice cream in a cup out of the heat, ready to continue out in the heat.

Baskin Robbins is a solid choice when you're looking for traditional no fuss ice-cream! The flavors are pretty basic, but they do offer a few non-dairy options if you like or need that. The service was alright, nothing stellar but nothing to complain about. This location is pretty small and parking can be tricky because it's in rice village. You can park in the garage for a couple hours for free though and it's just a short walk!

You may order online, in shop through a tablet, or with a person at the register. We used the register because we did not see the tablet and did not want to order ahead online. The ladies who helped us on our visit were very nice. You get a number and they call it when your made to order food is ready. We did not have to wait long. There was medium to low noisy ambiance. It was deserted when we arrived, but they have relatively loud background music. While we were eating it got pretty crowded. Mostly a lot of young people in the middle of the day on a Monday. The inside is small, seating both inside and outside are limited and close together. One lady was studying with her laptop, but there are no plugs. The breakfast sandwich is customizable. We got it on a croissant and with sausage. The eggs had a unique texture and the sandwich a unique flavor that we could not place, but both were very tasty. We also wanted a crepe, but we split the sandwich and it was sufficient. We also got a small mocha and a decaf, both were ok to good. We would definitely come back again and recommend that you give them a try for a crepe or sandwich. It is sad that a few Yelpers brought down their average to 3.8 stars due to petty and unjustified complaints such as having to pay for parking downtown. Other complaints are not the business' fault such as periodic homelessness--it is a downtown area in the US, other cities have far worse homelessness than Midtown Houston and we saw none on this visit. Additionally, complaints about takeout orders are mostly petty. Takeout is never as good as eating at the restaurant and so customers should adjust their expectations rather than dock the business stars. Nearly every recent Yelp review for this who ate at the restaurant gave 4-5 stars for food quality and customer service. Like most of the restaurants in this area it is a pretentious yuppy style place with specialized food. Although not usually our type of place (we like down to earth hole in the wall places with good food or taco truck type restaurants), Coco's is a solid 4 star restaurant for the type of place they are and they offered a 5 star experience on our visit. Again, recommend you give them a try if you are in the mood for crepes or sandwiches.
