This place has the worst customer service experience I've ever encountered. It took almost 3 hours to do my paperwork to purchase a shotgun. The manager Chip called the person ahead of me and that person already left the store. I waited 15 minutes to see if that guy would come back but he never did. I asked Chip if he could help me out since the other guy wasn't present. He told me I would have to wait until the other employee came back from his 15 minute break. Encountered many friendly employees, especially at the entrance when going through the turnstiles. Kid-friendly entertainment with the big fish tank in the back and different animals around the shop. I had heard that this place was top notch. Maybe I was influenced by their advertising. I booked an Alaska salmon fishing trip. I don't know much about cold water salmon fishing. I've fished from cabo(both sides, Sea of Cortez and pacific) up through the channel Islands. I wish I had brought a search and rescue team to find floor help. The help I was able to find had minimal knowledge at best. The rain gear for females was minimal and hidden amongst the male rain gear. REI maybe more expensive but I wish my girlfriend and I had gone there. read more

They sit there talk to each other while customers wait to get helped. They lack the knowledge and take forever. Their process sucks. You go anywhere else and be out in 10 minutes. We love Bass Pro Shops! I didn't know they had opened a new location in Irvine. As soon we heard, took a visit and see what's it's all about. So it is a small store compared to the other ones we encountered at other locations, but still enjoyed it. Went on a Saturday and of course got really busy. Staff were so friendly which made it more enjoyable to visit. They had offered kids to do an activity with a scavenger hunt which was so fun! At the end you redeemed it for a prize. Kids got cotton candy as a surprise! They were definitely overjoyed with excitement! The store offered all kind of good products for a reasonable price. From sweaters, hats, fishing poles, archery equipment, snacks, camping gears, and much more were offered. We mainly go for the aquarium of fishes swimming in the tank. The policy is clearly explained on their website -- if the item meets the requirements, they match the price, no drama. Simple, right? Not this time. This particular manager acted like honoring the policy was coming straight out of his personal paycheck. Despite my items clearly qualifying, he flat-out refused to match the price. His reasoning? The price was "too low." That's not how a published policy works -- it's either eligible or it's not. Instead of handling it professionally, he doubled down and called his supervisor over to back him up. Here's the kicker -- the supervisor immediately confirmed that I was right. Not only was my price match valid, but as a Bass Pro Club member, I was also entitled to an extra 5% off. Rather than acknowledging the mistake or offering a simple apology, the manager just walked off mid-conversation, leaving me standing there like I was the problem. What should have been a quick and easy purchase turned into a 90-minute ordeal -- all over something that should've taken 5 minutes and a quick scan of store policy. To be clear -- I love Bass Pro Shops Irvine overall, and I'll still shop here because most of the team is fantastic. But management needs to make sure ALL employees, including lower-level managers, are properly trained on store policies -- and basic customer service. Overwhelmed! Never been to Bass Pro Shop and I initially thought it would be like REI but it's different. Walking around the entire store, I noticed that they focus on fishing and camping. For fishing, they have boats, tons of fishing poles and accessories, and boat accessories. For camping, they have ATVs, hunting guns, camping equipment, etc. This place is massive and the ceiling is very tall! They have large fish tank as well and it mimics outdoor nature. I read other reviews that this place is smaller and not the real Bass Pro Shop but for what is it, it's still big and offers customers lots of essentials. This place is ginormous. It's the mecca for fishing enthusiasts. Aside from angling gear they carry a wide variety of items from hunting and camping gear to motor boats! There's even a aquarium feature with live bass fish - while we were there, a staff member threw in a small blue gill fish and a big bass just gulped it down, to the crowds delight. There is no shooting range also the aquarium is kinda of small and noting special. The workers also don't seem super knowledgeable about fishing . I think they just hired people that wanted a job . The fishing section should have people that are seasoned in the sport . The saltwater section is also tucked way in the back . They have damn near everything. It's huge! There is a lot to see and it's fun to visit and see all the expense stuff you can't afford once. But to actually go there and buy things you need for camping, fishing and grilling? Maybe not the place you want to choose. The prices are really high. Crazy high. $80 for a camping chair? Absolutely stunning on the inside and out. This store has everything your heart desires when it comes to the outdoors. Prices are a bit steep, but you are getting great quality items. You are able to apply for their Bass Pro CLUB credit card right there in store. You either get approved or denied right on the spot. If approved, you get your card right then and there. You also receive a beautiful leather-ish waterproof Bass Pro Club hat and a $20 credit on your credit card available immediately. I took advantage of this amazing offer. If you make a certain amount of purchases with the card in the first 30 days, you get another credit put on your card. I highly recommend coming here for all of your hunting, fishing, outdoors needs. Staff is very friendly. Sometimes they're hard to spot in the store though. Checkout lines can be a bit long at times. P.S. Store has a lot of stuff but it doesn't have any AR style rifles. In addition if you want to buy a gun respect to wait over an hour to get served. I recommend spending an extra 5% and go to the small privately owned gun store for some TLC especially if you are new to guns. read more

We came here for free Christmas photos and the service was great. Santa claus was perfect and also so sweet with our little boy and they even offered digital copies via email. It was the best first Santa photo experience we could ask for. We exlored the massive store and my baby was mesmerized by the huge fish tank with sea bass, I believe. We shopped for some hardy dog toys and kids fishing gear on this trip. We found everything we needed. The place is Huge, and that is with a capital H. It is like Disneyland. You walk in, and there is the most amazing fireplace. Walk towards the back, and you will find a camp site. You can play cornhole. There is an aquarium that is huge with a waterfall. There are a lot of clothing for sale. Hats are $5. It's a fun place. Must be amazing for kids. read more

I visited Bass Pro Shops in Irvine and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. I drove about an hour specifically to purchase a few offshore reels. Before making the trip, I called the store to confirm they had the reels I was looking for in stock. When I arrived, I was told they actually did not have the reels available. That was already frustrating considering the distance I drove. Since I had already made the trip, I ended up settling for a different reel. What made the experience worse was the customer service. I was assisted by Mark in the offshore reel department, and he was not very customer-friendly. His attitude came across as somewhat rude and dismissive throughout the interaction. At one point, Mark even told me that I should have gone to a fishing shop closer to my house, which I found to be a very odd and unprofessional comment to make to a customer who had just driven an hour to shop at their store. I normally enjoy shopping at Bass Pro Shops, but this visit was disappointing. Driving an hour based on incorrect inventory information and then receiving poor customer service made the entire experience frustrating. read more

This is the second Bass Pro Shops I've been to and it's massive. As we entered we were awestruck by the ginormous Christmas tree and beautiful decor. The kind employee Jeff saw us admiring the stunning tree and offered to photograph us in front of it. Super sweet! This Bass Pro Shops has a giant fish tank like the other one I've been too. We wandered around and made our way to the shoe section. Lots of Hoka running and trail shoes, among other brands... though we specifically had our eyes on those. Every employee was so sweet and kept greeting us as we walked by. They even had a Santa's wonderland display seat up. This store is huge like a Costco but feels more homey and comfortable... Went to look at a gun safe that said limited stock on in store and of course it's not there. The person I spoke to in the department said that limited stock means they don't have it. But online other ones I was looking at did say out of stock. This place really needs to learn to keep inventory updated correctly for when people drive to come and look for things. They did have another gun safe that I looked at that was much more than the one I was looking at online and it was the floor model. This one had a good amount of deep scratches on it on the sides and back with a few on the front. There was also some good size dings on the front. The scratches were not a big deal but the dents were a bit disappointing. When I spoke to a manager he offered me 10% off. 10% off of a $2200 item was a bit of a joke to take that. Even when I mentioned the safe that should have been there that wasn't he said not his problem. What kind of answer is that??? When someone is taking the display model of an items that has scratches and dings you should really want to give the value to the person that is willing to take it. Extremely mixed feelings about this place, as it's really neat to finally have a Bass Pro Shop in Orange County, but I have a feeling it may not last long (or maybe will be proven wrong?). The mixed feelings mainly comes from the fact that I have not really had great service at the location, which may be due to new employees or just the fact that the store is so new that it needs to find its bearings. l recently ordered an item online and went in-store for pickup when it was ready, and literally stood in front of the customer service area for 5 minutes watching a couple employees talk among each other. They may have been working with a customer, but the fact that no one even said "I'll help you in a minute" or acknowledged that I may be waiting to pick up an order left me a bit annoyed. When I received help, it turns out they didn't even use the emailed barcode to scan for my order, but instead needed me to share the order number. Then, I had to physically sign a paper tracking sheet to confirm my order was received. It was odd that they resorted to such a manual way for processing pick up orders, but it was definitely frustrating when I saw that the package had already been opened. However, after a quick inspection, all the contents seem to be intact and I just chalked it up to an accident and still took the item. The pricing can be OK for certain items although I imagine they rarely provide markdowns for popular brands. I also believe they need to sell A LOT of boats or other vehicles in order to keep the store running, and I'm not certain if the demand is necessarily there for folks nearby. The Bass Pro Shop is definitely a neat place for the family to do a mini exploration of a uniquely decorated store, and I really do appreciate that they have holiday events here as well as pictures with Santa. Went in today 06/07/26 to purchase some items as well as to get my reel spooled waited over an hour and a half as i asked for help several times. Guy with a black shirt updated the customer on the spooling who got there after me and gave me no updated as he continued to walk away. I then asked for help again and was sent back to the same location were no help was found. Another guy came and was helping a customer who got there way after me, basically skipped over me and moved onto the next person. I then went to customer service and asked for help as i was getting no answers. My answer given by the lady was "come back tomorrow morning or after work", if i'm here already why should i have to come back. Both the hubby and I wanted to come see the new pro bass shop and heard how huge it was. The service there was great as we were trying on cowboy boats staff assisted us till we made a choice. We planned an afternoon to drive out and also enjoy a meal in the surrounding neighborhood. This place is huge! They've got boats and plenty of fishing and camping gear, along with clothing and other things. You can also get a fishing license here. I came here looking for some fishing equipment and was initially overwhelmed by the options. They are well-stocked with rods, tackle boxes, and everything needed for fishing. We ended up getting a couple of rods and were told that they can spool the rods for us for free if we were willing to wait, so we did. I personally could not in good conscience recommend this particular Bass Pro Shops to anyone "of color" who wishes to purchase ammunition. My experience was a horror show and though one individual there was totally professional and helpful, a second person at the counter who took it upon himself to inject himself into my selection of defensive handgun ammo was a total nightmare and in my opinion treated me as "less than" due to the color of my skin.
