Ahhh, Bass Pro Shops. Every red-blooded American who loves the outdoors needs to visit a Bass Pro Shop. The Manteca store is well suited for all of your outdoor needs. The store looks to be primarily set up for fishing as there is a bigger selection of fishing gear than other locations. Still, hunting, men and women's outdoor clothing, camping supplies, and footwear selections were excellent. The decor and taxidermy displays were the usual Bass Pro Shops uniqueness for that area of the state. There is no restaurant at this location. Bass Pro Stores are amazing and this one would of garnered a fifth star, but the cashier that checked me out didn't seem to be having a good day and a few of the other staff did not look like happy campers. I went to Bass Pro today to buy some ammo. The gentleman behind the counter asked me if my middle name stood for anything and I said yes, and then he told me I had to bring in a birth certificate, even though I have a real ID when I asked him how come we just can't type it in he said it was against the law without having my birth certificate present, even though every other FFL in the area types it in also not to mention that I'm currently also a COE which there is a specific category for them to be able to select give them my number for the COE and it automatically passes me for a background check now I got no problem if it's store policy or company policy, but do not lie to my face and said it's the law because that is a load of BS. On top of that, asked my wife if she could buy the ammo and they said no cause it was a straw purchase now them refusing to do the background check or even acknowledge the background check on top of the fact that both me and my wife are firearm owners and compete in Glock matches and I've purchased firearms from other FFL's Also kind of rubbed me the wrong way while I understand that in certain circumstances, yes that can be considered a straw purchase neither one of us I've ever been denied for guns or ammo. Overall, I'm not happy with the experience. Definitely got treated as if I was a bad guy. My wife thought they were racially profiling me but I told her no it's their stupid store policy., you got people behind the gun counter that are not gun people are just clerks that don't know the law. Please do not lie to your customers and tell them it's the law when it's just your store policy. This is the kind of BS why I hate going to big box store and prefer to support smaller chains or Mom and pop shops. read more

We have always loved Santa's Workshop & photo session every year. Thank you 4 all the memories. The workshops are super fun 4 the kids. I remember when magnetic sand was brand new. It was a complete hit with all the kids. Then parents know what Santa will be getting them after they've checked out all the workshops. I absolutely love this Bass Pro Shop, I visited this spot on 05/02/2024! Very clean and a wide variety of everything you could think of. I needed a long list of items for crabbing (spreader, cages, anchovies, crab snares and etc.) and got everything I needed and more. This place is like the Costco of camping and fishing. This place must take their interviews very seriously because each of their employees have impeccable customer service! Ken S. found in the fishing department was very helpful with finding the things I needed and was very informative on the Bass Pro Shop Membership club and why it's effective to join. Getting $20 off your first purchase and I could stack up reward points , sounds good to me! Lastly, the employee Shelly Friend from club was very kind and helpful on setting my boyfriend and I up for the membership. She does her job very efficiently, great sense of urgency and knowledge. read more

For one this play is ginormous, like soo big you could spend hours here, and we pretty much did. My brother in law and husband went on their merry way to look at all the items they wanted to spend money on and my little running around everywhere looking at all the stuffed animals and dirt and pretty much anything he could play with. Ever since Bass Pro and Cabelas merged their rewards programs has been ridiculously ownerous. Details below. I had a Bass Pro Rewards account for years. My local Bass Pro in Rancho Cucamounga was ridiculously difficult to use. at the register they would scold you and refuse to link a sale to your account unless you scanned your rewards card FIRST. if not they would refuse to do it during the transaction. The only way to correct was to go wait in the customer service line and have them do it. Now that they have merged with Cabela's its gotten worse. I had a rewards account and since there was no usage in 18 months they deleted it and all my history. I had purchased items in the last 18 months but they didn't link it to my rewards account. These purchases were both in store and online. I had to return an item for the online order so when I was there (Bass Pro Vegas Store) I pointed out to them that it wasnt linked to my Rewards account and she said she would correct that. The in store (Rancho Cucamonga) one was a perfect example. I filed a complaint and the store manager called me and said she would straiten it out. APPARENTLY NOT. NOW my rewards account is deleted. My purchase history is deleted They want me to set up a new account. I will just look for alternatives to fulfill my outdoor shopping needs. Bummer because this whole process started when I went online to purchase a $100 gift card for a friend. read more

I went to Bass Pro Shops today to purchase a gun. I let Tyler know what I was looking for and he was extremely knowledgeable about guns and showed me a few guns that he thought I would like. I found what I was looking for and then he walked me through the process of taking my test and filling out all the paperwork. Another employee named Cassie also helped us and she was also extremely knowledgeable in the process. Between the two of them they really made the entire experience very pleasant. We haven't been to this location in a couple of months - but they are still currently open. Due to their massive size - I suspect that social distancing is fairly easy. They've implemented a Senior Shopping Hour - and they are opening an hour earlier (so 9:00 AM) on Saturday to allow older customers access before the general public. They've also taking been taking precautions so that they can continue serving the community in a safe and responsible manner. Though I haven't physically been to this location lately - I did just place an online order with Bass Pro for some outdoor essentials. They have some terrific sales lately and their delivery has been pretty fast as well. If you're starting to plan future trips for the great outdoors - Bass Pro is an excellent place to start. I am not the most outdoorsy person, but I really enjoy this store. It's amazing and it's just such a fun experience shopping here. The sales associate I interacted with was friendly and helpful. I was looking at flashlights that can also serve as lanterns.He was so helpful that I ended up buying it, plus I thought it was a pretty nice flashlight. I took my cousins, who had never been to the Bass Pro Shop before. They were so glad I suggested it, because by going there, they understood why I liked it. They were also impressed by the this store. I like their "General Store," the aquarium, the elevator, the lagoons, the rustic decor and I like most of the merchandise they carry, etc. We all bought candy too. The checkout line was very long, but I was able to have a conversation with another customer while waiting in line. They, of course, have merchandise for all types of outdoor activities and they also sell other fun items like old fashioned candy, fudge, keychains and funny signs etc. I haven't yet been to this store enough times to gauge how their prices compare to other stores that sell similar products, so I can 't rate that. I would think they are higher because I think customers are paying for the fun shopping experience the store creates. But I'm sure they have sales too, so that could off set things a bit. But I plan to be back because there are something's I need to look at, so I will then have a better idea about that as I make more visits to this place. It's the people who make this store special. Came in for new hiking shoes because my Merrell boots were not fitting the same after 10 years and a couple of pregnancies. I had my eye on a specific shoe. Sonya listened, brought out several shoes in different sizes, Listened to my feedback, and brought back the perfect hiking boots. She also suggested the perfect socks. I appreciate you Sonya. You listened to me, and made me feel like my needs were important. Thank you. This review is long overdue. Shout out to Jeff and Ken in fishing. I came in a few months back with absolutely no knowledge, and I wanted to get into bass fishing. Jeff helped me pick out my first spinning rod, a Lew's Custom Speed Stick, 7', medium, fast action, and put together a basic tackle box for me. I gave him my budget and he set me up perfectly, I was able to get everything I needed and didn't go a penny over budget. Jeff had a fantastic amount of passion for fishing, as well as a lot of energy, and excellent skills in customer service. Fast forward a few months, now I'm regularly catching bass, with a PB of 6 pounds. I eventually started having trouble with my knots coming undone when I would hook bigger fish. I called in and talked to Ken who helped me simplify everything and pick a better knot to use. Ken was another shining example of high quality customer service. Is there a way to choose zero stars? I experienced the worst customer service in the gun department. Unenthusiastic workers, computer problems, and they need 3 people to do one persons job. They made an online gun purchase horrible. Took 4 times to actually pick up the guns, they had one issue after the next. The final straw was them making me take a number with no other customers in line! I stood there while the 3 workers talked to each other!! Average time spent at each visit was 1-2 hours. This place is huge but the atmosphere is dead. Here's is why. A place like you would think there's a restaurant and bowling alley like the San Jose Bay Area location has. This location has so much potential to have this achieved since on the other side of town. There's another company building a hotel resort. Having a restaurant/ bowling alley would be another drawl to this store to those who are visiting Manteca. All the food products are located in the General Store where they sell fudge. The fudge is the bomb. Prices here are a pricey. There's a huge aquarium straight back of the store with a wilderness display. All the camping, cooking, and firearms stuff is located on the second level. There's a shooting range game for the kids don't worry is laser stuff ok. That's why it's for kids or for yourself. There's a bow and arrow alley on the second level as well. The first floor has clothing, boating department, and fishing equipment department. What's lacking is the homeware and toys department I mean where is it at! It's so tiny. Cons: No restaurant no bowling alley. The housewares and toys department is very lacking at this location. Not much employees around. A booth near the aquarium is a time share bugging the crap out of you. Pros: Decent firearms department, huge aquarium display a lot of free parking. Easy access from the freeway. Good fudge at the general store. A lot of moon pies for sale. Family friendly place. read more

If you're wearing a mask, you'll definitely feel like the outcast here. I know I did. There was always that sense of relief when you pass by someone who was masked! What a time... My family loves Bass Pro. Not me, my husband and my boys.. It is fun and well decorated. The whole theme of the store is well done and if just concentrating on that, you could spend hours. LOVE the waterfall and live fish! Fishing gear is plentiful and not terribly overpriced. This is what they are shopping for while I head to the clothes and candles and the foo-foo stuff.. Just for fun cuz this sh#% is expensive, even the clearance isle! They have a lingerie section that cracks me up.. Cammo night clothes and such marked upwards of 50 bucks. Lol. I did last trip spend 1.69 on some root beer candy that was damn good.. If you are purchasing fire arms it takes a while to get helped but the staff is knowledgable.. And again, if you are spending big bucks get the discount by getting their card, pay it and cancel it.. Just saved us over $300. read more

I recently purchased a revolver from their online site. I had to head over to fill out paperwork for the background check and 10 day waiting period. Went Saturday so place was packed! Was placed on a wait list for a couple hours which was a little disappointing but with staffing shortages I understood. What made it bearable was a young lady by the name of Amy . I had to leave. Huge lines for check out with no social distancing enforcement. No enforcement of mask wearing. People just wandering around with no masks, masks on their chins. No hand sanitizer by high touch areas. It's a set up for infection. We left without buying the things we drove 45 minutes each way to get. It's a shame because outdoor activity is one of the few things we can do, but coming here to get your stuff can kill you. read more

GET READY ITS A LONG ONE purchased a 1754 grizzly from tracker boats in manteca on 12/23/22. honestly the easiest thing I've ever purchased from a dealer. Thats where the fun stopped. I didn't receive registration for either the boat or the trailer until august after going back and forth with both the guy that handles the paperwork and Juan the sales manager. My credit union was in contact with them until march which is when the man that handled the dmv paperwork pretty much ghosted her and would not return phone calls. which is when my loan officer called me and asked if I could get involved. which I pretty much I handled it from there on out, in between waiting on the paperwork i had to take my boat in a few times for warranty work. after the first repair was "complete" I launched my boat and it wouldn't start, they failed to hook my negative battery cable back up, wouldn't be a huge deal except I launch my boat on a beach not at a launch ramp so my boat went floating down the river with my buddy in it. spoke with Jeff coffield, the "service manager" and he basically said it wasn't their fault. I had parts already sitting at the counter for another warranty issue, so my boat returned to them a few weeks later which is when I met Lucian the new service writer. A nice guy who wanted to make things right but just didn't exactly have the authority other than to offer exceptional customer service, honestly that kid needs a raise. received my boat back after that with no issues. After dealing with the paperwork issue I finally received my registration late august (8 1/2 months later). Jaun had agreed to perform the first service on my boat on the house, at the same time I was having some issues with my fuel gauge reading improperly. so today 9/9/23 after emailing Jeff and setting up an appt to bring my boat in for the warranty repair and service weeks in advance, I arrive at the agreed time and see Lucian in the parking lot. His first Question is "what problems are you having this time". I explain that I'm here for my appt. he stated that I wasn't on the schedule. Luckily I had emails to back up everything including the complimentary service. Lucian says "not a problem" ill get it in the shop and get you taken care of it'll be done in a couple hours". (again this kid needs a raise). get a call while me and the kids are eating lunch service is done he's checking out your fuel sending unit issue now ill let you know when its done. gave them another hour. went to see how everything was going and everyone was at lunch with the exception of one man at the service desk. He knew who I was and said your boat is done (it was still in the service bay). before signing the paperwork I ask what they found with the fuel gauge issue. he couldn't answer my question said its there on the paperwork. there was no explanation of any repairs done just service parts being billed out. sign the paperwork and am on my way.. Ohh wait!! the boat wellness checklist, yes what a waste of paper. Twice it was pencil whipped including today. nothing was inspected properly I know what works on my boat and what doesn't. According to their service tech everything on my boat worked including my aerator that I removed the power from to power my gps unit, as well as my nav lights that got disconnected during the addition of additional lights on my bow. I was taught that if you're not going do it right don't do it at all. These guys need to not be in the business of selling and servicing boats in my honest opinion. If you've gotten this far you already know that I will not ever recommend anybody buy a boat from this establishment let alone take their boat there to have it serviced. Archery needs someone who takes their duty more serious. Took my compound in to have a peep installed for the second time with in a week. Had my first one installed by a rep here at bass pro, fell out no more than 50 rounds shot. No biggie but this second time, the young gentleman seemed careless and rushed. There was nobody there when I arrived and nobody waiting for him when I left. It was about 4-5pm. He burnt my main line which I feel compromised it and when I draw, the peep turns and doesn't line up. He said it will line up...BS-er. I was SO excited when we drove by Bass Pro on the way to Yosemite a few days ago. I've been to the Las Vegas and Orlando stores, and had no idea that there are so many (I do now, b/c I looked it up!). As with all the other Bass Pro Shops, the store is HUGE. Don't worry if you're not a fisher, camper, hiker, hunter...go into Bass Pro--you'll still find all sorts of outdoors related merchandise, from their $5 logo shirts (buy one in every color, they're SO soft!!) to casual clothing, housewares, fudge (yes, I said fudge!!), bbq equipment, tents, boats, rifles, archery equipment, shoes...sunglasses. There are tons of snacks from salt water taffy to beef jerky, even ice cream novelties. I love the outdoorsy theme at the Bass Pro Shops. A visit to see the huge fish tank is always a must. And there's always an adventure in the deals that can be found in various bins located around the store...yesterday's was 6 LED flashlights plus batteries for less than $10!! Dad also found shorts and a sun hat in sizes to fit him (tiny) so even senior citiizens have fun at Bass Pro, both for great prices! read more
