However, I signed up for their maintenance service and they have no problem billing me and texting me for that! It breaks my heart writing a review like this... Bassett Services was sold to a Private Equity company out of Florida in 2021 according to INBIZ. I believe my recent evaluation experience was related to this acquisition. Everyone at the company was extremely kind. Nothing bad to say. On the other hand, I believe the technician gave me a shoddy diagnosis claiming my heat exchange was cracked (it wasn't) to upsell an entire unit to me. We got a second opinion and they took the time to walk us through our options and show us the issue. Literally spent the time teaching me. Private Equity wants profits, not the family-owned experience Bassett Services used to provide. I believe Bassett Services is being put under pressure to perform, not help by Apex Holding. Apparently Bassett bought out Northern Comfort, which we have been using for quite some time. Northern Comfort was almost always above satisfactory. But this Spring when we went to schedule our A/C service/tune up/maintenance (under service contract), they informed us they couldn't get to us until SEPT 2025 (for A/C contracted maintenance). That was out first exposure to Bassett and when we learned that they had bought out Northern Comfort. Well, two phone calls later and complaining resulted in our springtime A/C maintenace service to be scheduled to late May instead of September. Now for the best part, Haleigh (?), the tech, did a great job and was very pleasant. Really enjoyed her visit, explanation, and prompt work. All good. Now fast forward to today, about two weeks after our maintenance appointment, we are now receiving text messages and phone calls from Bassett to inform us that they can push our Sept 2025 A/C maintenance appointment up to July 2025 (today is 6/14, our service was finally provided to us in late May 2025). Apparently, they still think they haven't made our appointment. So, another phone call to set them straight. This company acquisition of Northern Comfort by Bassett is absolutely not inspiring confidence in the least bit. And now, reading some of these other awful recent reviews of Bassett, I'm starting to feel fortunate that my experience wasn't worse than it was. read more

I am responsible for a number of HVAC units at my business and 4 units at my home. I had been pleased with Northern Heating for years. I recently delt with 3 young technicians from the company that purchased Northern called Bassett Services. I am not impressed with their experience or job performance. It seems that their main motivation is to find a problem and subsequently sell you a new and overpriced furnace. I will not be using them in the future. read more

We had them come out to run new power to our barn. Very friendly guys. However power was installed incorrectly. I plugged things in and I had sparks, pops, and the breaker blew. They had installed the wires incorrectly. They left their garbage everywhere. I am still finding small pieces of trash 4 months later. Very expensive for the crap we had to deal with. I had a contract with Bassett to do semi-annual inspections of my plumbing, electrical and hvac. I just had the hvac inspection. The tech , Eric, was confrontive, and very rude. He told me how crappy my maintenance was( which had been done by Bassett) and said my entire air handling system needed to be replaced. He also advised me that the starting capacitor on the compressor had failed and needed to be replaced. That was a complete fabrication as evidenced by proper operation of the compressor. He made me so mad I told him to finish the inspection and get out of my house. He put the cover back on the furnace but not before he sabotaged the unit by turning off the circuit breakers on the heating elements. I had to call another hvac company to get the heat on and it was below zero weather. I called Bassett and cancelled my maintenance contract with them and asked to talk to a manager. They told me he wasn't available but he would call back. He never called, even though I called ten and ask for him twice, I would highly recommend you not do business with this disreputable company. read more

I've personally have had a terrible experience with them. Multiple times either they haven't shown up or have rescheduled on me. The inability to be able to speak with anyone from Bassett when there are issues is infuriating. You can only talk to someone at the call center and they are not able to help you. I feel like they have gotten to big and no longer a family ran business who cares. read more

Bassett installed my HVAC system 7 years ago. The systems had worked flawlessly in that time until yesterday. When I called for service it was late in the evening so I expected some wait time. The person who answered my call told me it would most likely be the next day I wasn't shocked. When called back to confirm the appointment the following morning I was then told it would two days longer. When asked why I wasn't told this last night I was told "I'm not sure sir but that is the first available appointment". To be noted both conversations were held with the same person both times. 0 stars. Worst possible service available. Have had ongoing issues with a brand new sump pump and back up pump instal for over a year. Well over a dozen technician visits to attempt to fix. Ongoing electrical issues that have not been resolved after 2 visits. Cannot get a call back to get the next visit scheduled for electrical fix attempt #3. During the last sump pump visit, the plumbing tech pointed out that our year old hvac unit is draining/frozen line into our crawl space. We bought into the preferred customer program thinking it'd be easier and faster having all our eggs in one basket. Clearly, these eggs are all rotten. Even though it's a "local" office, 100% of calls are screen through a remote call center where we have been placated, condescended and hung up on. Multiple call center people have done nothing but said they will "expedite to the Manager" of whatever area we're having a problem with. We've been waiting for one of these return calls for over a week. We have two ongoing BBB conversations and an open conversation with the State Attorney General's office based on fraud, misrepresentation of professional services, breaking their own contractual agreements. Avoid Bassett at all costs. Biggest scam in plumbing, electrical and hvac needs. read more

Bassett is absolutely terrible. Bought a new furnace from them and they messed up the install. Had to come back out twice to fix their mistakes. I have a maintenance plan with them and every time i have them scheduled, they call at the end of the day to cancel. Give me a 5 hour window then cancel after ive stayed home all day! Then they call me at 7am on a SATURDAY to reschedule. I get worked up every time i deal with these jokers. Terrible terrible terrible service and workmanship. read more

So far, experience has not been good. Our Bryant HVAC system was installed in 2014 by what was then Smiley's Royal Comfort out of Greencastle, IN. They did great work. I had a problem in 2023 and called and it was now Edwards Royal Comfort. They did great work and most was under warranty. I wanted to have a checkup of the system, so I called and found out the company was now Bassett. I scheduled a checkup and they discovered a problem - that was October 31, 2025. I scheduled a technician to come out the next week to fix the problem. 3 visits and about 15 hours later, the problem is still not resolved. New wire run to thermostat - not the problem. New control board for variable speed blower - didn't fix the problem. New thermostat - didn't fix the problem. New circuit board for outdoor unit - didn't fix the problem. While the dispatcher informed us that we would get a call before the technician arrived, we didn't get any calls. The most recent appointment was for today... tech didn't show so I called Bassett to find out he had been out sick and they didn't have a record of the appointment. Made appointment for Monday, 11/24. They assured me they now will be able to fix it. The verdict is still out on that one. The technician was very friendly and appeared knowledgeable, but was still unable to get it resolved. He worked on the issue for several hours each of the three days he was here. He even contacted his tech support, but could not get it resolved. If we don't get it resolved Monday, I'll be looking for another company... read more

I had a technician come out a couple of months ago to fix a leaking basket drain in our kitchen sink. I shared a review at the time of how disappointed I was in the price. He told me it would be a certain price and then it went up. He said he had misquoted the price at first, but it was only after he had called his boss. I had to call them back on Monday because the basket drain is leaking again. I was told that there would be a $98 fee plus whatever the technician would find when he got there. When I asked fora guarantee on the work, the receptionist said it depended on what the technician discussed with his boss. When I called a local plumber he told me it would cost $168 that included his service fee. I decided to cancel my appointment with Bassett because they ripped me off by charging $396 for the same repair. read more

INSANE prices, $500 for a $50 motor starter cap, $500 for a 50$ relay, $1500 for a $200 fan motor, $550 for a fan blade. Plus $2000 labor. Said its cause they have 20 trucks and high overhead . Competitors had good laugh, fixing it for $150 , it was just the capacitor, lied about the rest needing replaced. Run, don't walk from these guys. Actually was just starter capacitor, $150 fixed in 5 mins. Tried to rip me off royal. Hide your wallet and run from these guys. read more

This company is a SCAM. I am sure majority of their reviews are written by them. Used to be great company until it changed ownership 3-4 years ago. The guy, named Johnna, who came to do annual maintenance on my furnace told me I have a crack in the heat exchanger. It was an emergency for me to replace my furnace otherwise fire or carbon monoxide poisoning would happened. He refused to turn my heater on (in the middle of freeze!) stating it would be illegal and asked me to sign a form that I am aware of the danger. I said I would think about it and get back with him. Everything smelled as BS. I asked other company for a second opinion. They said there were no cracks, furnace was fine, just appropriate for its age wear and tear. They also said that maintenance was not done, dust and cobwebs were everywhere. They said I am about their 10th customer this winter who were told by Bassett that they have a problem with heat exchanger and that was not true. Not only Basset put up a show to scam me for a new furnace I had no need for, they did not do maintenance I paid for. I will be filing a complaint with BBB. Needless to say, my business with them is done. I advise you to do the same. read more

Do not deal with Bassett. I can't stress this enough. I'll be over the character limit if I include every detail of their poor quality of work and horrible customer service, so I'll just hit the biggest issues. In July of 2023, I paid Bassett more than 20k for a new furnace, air conditioner, and mini split. The problems started the day of install. Electrical wire to the mini was not completely buried and I had to cover it myself. The wrong unit was ordered and they had to come back the next day to finish the install. This led to the wrong breaker being installed in the panel but I didn't discover that until later. More on that in a bit. They left a condensation line leaking water in my crawl space and they had to come back days later to fix the line that was obviously damaged. The damage was pointed out to the installers on the day of install and I assumed it would be fixed. Big mistake. Don't ever assume Bassett will do the right thing. In October I turned on the furnace for the first time and it was blowing cold air. They had to come out and remove two plugs that should have been removed at install but weren't. The electrical problems started in December when the breaker for the mini was tripping almost every day. They kept sending HVAC techs that said the issue was electrical and then electricians that couldn't diagnose it, but all agreed the ground wire was the likely answer. That was when I discovered the mismatched breaker, but that wasn't the issue. It didn't take long for me to figure out the issue with the breaker trips was the ground wire, as the trips happened when there was rain or snow melt. It was obviously damaged and causing the trips. The electrical manager, Mike, would later insist that wasn't possible. He could not have been more condescending. The trips went on until January when Mike decided to put in a temporary above ground line rather than just replacing it. The trips stopped but no one from Bassett followed up. In February they finally came out and replaced the ground wire in conduit, which should have been done in the first place. The wire that came out of the ground was blackened and smelled burnt. It had been smoldering for weeks before they finally made it right. I had to initiate contact every step of the way to get this resolved. There was zero follow up from Bassett. I had no indication they cared or were taking the issue seriously. Bassett extended my warranty by several years, but I'm not sure how much value that has given their quality of work. Now, In January of 2025, the furnace is leaning to one side and coming detached from the air return. This is three weeks after a routine maintenance visit that found the furnace was in "excellent working condition." What a joke. The same supervisor that was here at the initial install came out and said it needs to be reinstalled. It's been 24 hours since that diagnosis and there has been no follow up from Bassett and no appointment to schedule the reinstall. I've given up hope of a resolution at this point. They have my money and I have 18 months worth of frustration. Nothing they say or do can be trusted and I'm constantly worried about the safety and reliability of their work. In short, I paid Bassett 20k to make my house a less comfortable place to live. I've been told by three different managers over the last 18 months they would make it right... but here I am. There is no continuity of customer care and I end up having to explain the same issues over and over every time I get handed off. I have to explain the issues because it seems no one I talk to bothers to familiarize themselves with the history of this system before feeding me another line about making it right. There's so much more I could detail about their lack of concern and horrible communication but I can't fit it all here. I'll post the complete timeline elsewhere and hopefully save someone from a similar experience. read more

Was having some electrical problems so I called because they're 24hours. First call was immediately hung up. Second call they said they'd charge $98 to have someone come out or we can sign up for a $20 monthly membership. We thought signing up for the membership was a good idea considering they offer HVAC and plumbing services. They charged us the $20 and said someone would call about coming out. Waited hours and nobody called so we called back and they said the same things. Over 24hours after we called someone finally called us to come out. The technician said he'd replace our breaker box for over $3000 (double what other companies estimated) and he was unsure if it would fix the problem. Im not paying thousands of dollars for unconfident work. We called to cancel the membership because the entire experience was poor and now we have to pay the service fee, that's free with the membership. Nobody said we'd have to pay for services we used that were supposed to be free. Didn't sign a contract. Still have to pay. Money hungry company. I wish I would've read the reviews before calling them, i've yet to see a good one. read more

We have used Bassett for many years. The company is not the same after it was sold. We will not be using them in the future. We were told by a Bassett tech our system was failing, unable to be repaired and needed replaced. Had another reputable company check it and was told we were lied to. The system is fine, no repair needed and definitely does not need replaced. Also, had a couple other issues with Bassett last year. Also, keep in mind a lot of these reviews were from when it was a family owned business. read more

I recently hired Basset Home Services for plumbing and HVAC work at my home, and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. Firstly, I felt I was upsold on an expensive ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) system that I feel has more cons and maintenance requirements than just regular AC maintenance. Secondly, they replaced my water heater, but the very next day, the brand new unit they installed started gushing out water, causing significant water damage to my property. Instead of taking responsibility for their mistake, they attempted to charge me for additional equipment, claiming it was necessary due to variable water pressure, which they failed to address initially. What's even more frustrating is their lack of accountability and poor communication. Despite numerous attempts to contact them, they have not followed through on their commitments and have given me the runaround. Overall, I cannot recommend Basset Home Services to others based on my experience. Their upselling tactics, lack of expertise, and failure to take responsibility for their mistakes have left me with a considerable amount of damage and frustration. read more

I called them for a special priced furnace tune-up for $49. Jonah came out in the morning on 10/16/24 and inspected my furnace. He said it had a leak and would cost more to repair that what it would cost to replace. I asked the cost and he gave me a rough quote of $5,800. I said I would have to make some phone calls in the afternoon to see if I could afford it. He said he would have to turn off the furnace as it was unsafe to leave it on. He then came up with a new quote of $5,301 and said they could install it the next day. With the furnace being turned off I felt I had no other choice. I did not feel that it would even be safe to get quotes from other HVAC companies. After I signed the agreement and signed the check, he then turned the furnace back on! The replacement furnace is a Bryant Legacy 80% and 70k BTU. I am elderly and feel like I was taken advantage of. I would never recommend Bassett for anything as they are deceitful and dishonest! read more

Think twice before you hire Bassett Services Inc. Heating, Cooling, Plumbing! They are very unprofessional! In early August, our next-door neighbor hired Bassett to fix a drainage problem, where water ponded in her back yard. They believed a pvc pipe running to a storm drain in our yard was clogged. They then made a mess of a corner of our backyard several hundred yards away trying to find the problem. Backhoe operator Tyler Howard told us that another neighbor's invisible fence threw them off the identity of the digging location. Tyler stated they have authority to damage grass and dig trench in easements, creating mounds of dirt. The equipment damaged our lawn approx. 25 feet away from the easement, put grooves in yard from backhoe tracks. I was told by employee and later by a supervisor they were not going to repair damage and we should look to our neighbor who hired them to pay for our repairs. After numerous calls to Laura, I was told once dirt dries and settles they would come out, grade, seed and put down straw. Several days later someone came out and put straw on the mess, no grading and seeding. On Oct. 9th I met with Tyler Howard to look at the damage and hopefully get some top soil spread, yard leveled and grass seed installed. I was told by Tyler that the damage was not that bad and he refused to do any repairs. He stated he owned a house, knew all about lawn care and by the spring the ruts would self level, grass would grow in the approx. 10ft x 25ft damaged lawn. In my opinion, Bassett Services Inc is a large company that doesn't care about collateral damage to our yard. This was after a botched job that the neighbor hired them for that did not fix her problem. Do not hire them to do any work unless you plan to clean up their mess at your expense. read more

Sustainability of qualified technicians over the years is going down. We have been using them for over a decade. However during the COVID and afterwards, the company was going thru a high turn-over. For the scheduled heating and cooling maintenance service, we were greeted with a technician with an attitude issue and refuse to consider wearing a plastics shoe cover instead of fabric one. Hence leaving the wet snow tracks throughout the wooden floors and stairways. When kindly asked if he would consider putting one that works, he stated what he was wearing was plastic. The worst company to work for,I had so many complaints from customers who does furnace prevention at the end of the season,almost all customers complained about being called at the last minute only to be told that their appointment was canceled and have to be rescheduled most of my clients had stated this had happened two or three times completely uncalled for, I was also told by homeowners walking in on the guy working on their furnace only to find him on their phone playing games if you want good quality service you need to go with a small company that values its employees and keeps employees I have never seen so many people go through this company and the time that I was there stay away read more
