When one walks into the store, one's nose will be hit by an overpowering of a mixed of heavy fragrance of all the items in the store. It is a bit too much and I wonder if that poses a health hazard to the staffs who work there. Staffs are always friendly. I only buy the Orange Ginger or Eucalyptus Spearmint hand soap from Bath & Body Works. There is really nothing other than the Aromatherapy range that appeals to me, the rest of the merchandise is just too heavily scented.

Simply took my valid coupons and stated that they were expired. Not happy in the least.

The many scents that hit my nose as soon I opened the door hit me hard, but in a good way! I, at first, thought I was in a soap store, Candlefish is at the north end of Ponce City Market close to the parking lot. It's a nice, open, bright space, with welcoming and friendly employees. After I realized that it was multiple various candle scents that I was smelling at the same time, a smiling employee came to me, and told me to let her know if I needed any help and if she could help me find anything. I told her that I was just looking. After picking up a variety of candles, such as mimosa, pina colada, Bloody Mary, and others, and smelling each of them, the candles started smelling similar. Not that they actually did smell similar, it's just that the scents throughout the store were just overwhelming me. This was my queue to leave. I will most likely be back to take a closer look at what Candlefish has. The store smelled really nice.

One thing I found very amazing is the fact that they have candle workshops, where you can make your own candles. They have over 100 scents you can choose from. The…read moreactual candle-making experience was enjoyable, and we had a great time during the class. At the end of the session, we were told the candles would take about two hours to set. However, we were also informed that they would be closed on Monday, so we stayed in contact throughout the week to coordinate a pickup. Unfortunately, we've attempted to pick up our candles on three separate occasions, and each time the business was closed. I also reached out via email and never received a response. After multiple attempts with no communication and no way to retrieve the candles we paid to make, the experience became very frustrating. While the class itself was fun, not receiving the finished product completely changed my overall impression. It felt very unprofessional and, honestly, a bit scammy. I hope they improve their communication and ensure customers can actually receive the products they've paid for

I'm excited to do more classes with them. It is such a great activity. Don't be afraid to mingle with the other folks. Smell each other's creations.

Nope, one peek and I quickly grabbed my phone (& holy oil.) It's a small store with the scent of incense wafting through the air. A stern looking lady (who was not my Grandma) stood watch over everyone. The first thing that struck me were the handwritten signs barking orders like, "Don't write numbers in these books. This isn't a library, books are for sale! No refunds. No mixing oils except Myrrh and Frankincense" etc. Ok... The candles clearly aren't being purchased for their beauty or fragrance. I was fascinated and a little scared. You can put roots on people and make them fall in love with you by burning a 'Come Back to Me' candle. 'Break Up' has the opposite effect. You can cast spells, get a miracle, rid your house of evil (Run Devil Run & Exorcist) and get Quick Money rich! There's also a Jinx Removing soap and Court Case shampoo. Prices range from $8 to $15. I asked the sales lady 1) if they were all the same candles in different bottles, 2) if "Grandma" made them and 3) if this was a voodoo/black magic shop. I mean the skull and cat shaped candles were a dead giveaway. The answer was no... And she clearly didn't know what the Pull Out candle was for. But she said she burned her Libra Zodiac and money candles. And you're still working??? She said they get a lot of African and Caribbean customers but it was empty. Probably because there were no Christmas specials (sad face.) There were gift sets. I left after I was caught snapping pics... In short, Grandma's is no Yankee Candle but if you're a witch or know what the High John Conqueror or Dragon Blood is for, it just might be your jam!

The tablecloth I chose was vintage Brandenburg lace. Right in the middle of the dinner party one of my guests brought to my attention that the red tapers were copiously dripping red beeswax on my vintage tablecloth. I remained calm and did not disrupt the dinner party. With a certain amount of savoir-faire, I explained that I had superb dry cleaners and that they would take care of the problem the following Monday -- which they did for a very expensive $40 bill. Thankfully, however, my beautiful tablecloth was restored. Sometimes I can be a slow learner. I purchased a gorgeous pair of orange tapers for the following Thanksgiving. Using different candlesticks I attempted to place these tapers without success. They kept falling out just as the Christmas tapers had done the year before from different candlesticks. I trimmed the base and melted a little wax from the rounded bottom of each taper into the candlestick. I chose crystal candlesticks that could accommodate both pillar candles or tapers thinking that that would protect my orange pumpkin tablecloth from drips. In both cases it was a nightmare getting the tapers to stay upright but I finally managed it. Again, the candles copiously dripped beeswax. These candles are lovely but they are too much trouble. I will not be purchasing them again.

Lucky is the person who has a Big Dipper Wax candle. I first tried their candles when I bought them at a PCC market. I was obsessed with the Meditation smell (rosewood and cedarwood), so I went to their website and ordered the discounted Valentine's and Christmas candles to try more! They came in the mail with an extra gift! There was a hand written note on my invoice that said thank you for the order and that they included a free lip balm. I love it! My lips were indeed extra dry that morning, and the calendula oil with vitamin E, peppermint, beeswax, etc. really helped and felt light on my kisser. I haven't tried burning the Valentine's candles yet, but the smell in that box is even more amazing than I had imagined it could be. Check them out.
