These are really good quality natural/raw fragrances that are beginner and sensitive friendly. As a person sensitive to smells and who doesn't really wear fragrances for fear of them being too powerful or causing migraine, I was skeptical of trying perfume. I was recommended to try BYREDO by my friends roommate who is into perfume because this business uses natural/raw ingredients to formulate their fragrances. I walked in and it was empty so I got some great service and tried almost all of the perfumes, and I realized what I liked/didn't like. It's hard to commit to just one fragrance so I opted to get a smaller perfume. Well the salesperson recommended I actually get 3 small ones for only $40 more. This is a great deal for a beginner like me who wants quality products and to explore what I like. And on top of that I was given the option of 3 free samples. And then they threw in a couple samples of body wash as well. I feel so pampered and am excited to wear my new perfumes. I went to Japan for a semester, and while I could have bought the same products in Tokyo for cheaper than what she sells, I decided to wait until I come back to Boston to support her business. I really needed some new BB cream and when I asked her for one she brought out the same product, but half the size with the same original price. Why should I pay full price when I'm getting half the original size? I asked her if there was a mistake since I know the product I had been buying for a year and a half was bigger and a different color (still the same brand and everything). She said, "No, honey it's always this one." I was really shocked she could have lied to my face when I've been such a loyal customer. I'm really hoping she is just being forgetful or honestly thought that was the same sized product, but I don't know how that would be possible either. It really didn't sit well with me so I would suggest that if you go here, be sensible about your purchases. BB cream is not as hard to come by anymore with brands like Smashbox carrying them now.

I love handmade sugar scrubs, and loved how natural everything is, so I purchased some sugar scrubs, soap, and a lip balm. This lasted me for many months, and recently went to seek out the owner's tiny shop in Cambridge. HOW ADORABLE! I went berserk, and purchased a candle, soaps, several lip balms, a body spray, lotion, body balm, and many more sugar scrubs. The owner was soooooo lovely, offering me a bonus lip balm (I spent a lot) and asking me a ton of specific questions about her products and how I'm liking them. I really love her, her shop, her products, and her mission; I want her to survive this crappy economy and keep making me products I plan to love for many years, all of which I absolutely adore. Really though- these are the best sugar scrubs I've ever tried- velvety and emollient, but not at all oily. Keeps my icky white girl skin problems at bay, and everything she makes smells great. I've tried all the most expensive and highest rated sugar scrubs on the market, and I love these the most. AND they're the least expensive! Score! She was in the process of making some new body washes for the shelf, and offered to make one for me with a different scent. I sniffed at the soaps and LOVED the plum blossom scent, so I asked if she could make me a body wash with that scent, and she did! I also got a mango-passion lip balm, which I love too. She gave me two samples of facial scrub, and they are awesome. I have to go back and get some of that. I like that her products are also fairly priced. A large bottle of the body wash was $9. Whenever I need a beauty product in the future, I will be back at Threla. :)

The unfortunate thing about this store is that some of the price labels are not placed properly or placed at all-- it kept me guessing at what the prices of some of the products were. I could've asked the employees, but who wants to ask the staff every time they want to know how much a product costs? Just a fair warning that you really SHOULD however get the proper pricing of these products prior to purchasing because some of these makeup/beauty products must be imported and therefore MUCH more expensive than if you would purchase them from an online supplier. My total came out to nearly $50 (yes, you read that right. 50 bucks) and all I bought were 4 products: an eyeliner, hand sanitizer, hand cream and dispoable razors. You can't even return these products because RETURNS ARE NOT ALLOWED. I'm sad I even joined the rewards program because I was charged 5 bucks for the keychain tag thing they give rewards members. The employee DID tell me this prior to me joining, but I didn't hear her properly because I was shocked at the additional charge when I did receive my receipt. I even saw that they were selling a limited edition Asian Starbucks tumbler for a whopping $64. However, all of the products are built to last. The shampoo and conditioner bars are $10-15, a lot more than what a Garnier product would at Rite Aid, but they certainly last a lot longer and come with the satisfaction of not adding more plastic to our lives. You do have to come prepared, but that is more of a hassle associated with trying to live at a plastic minimum in an economy that wants everything in plastic packages. I find their website, which lists every product they have, really helpful for planning in advance! It might be useful to see an approximate list of prices there as well, to assist in financial planning as well as what containers to buy, though. The staff is helpful and ready to answer any questions, and really open to suggestions about what customers would like to see in the store! I hope this business continues to grow.
