Adorable store with unique and gourmet cupcakes! Very delicious and such a treat. My husband and I took our children here for a "special treat" this past Sunday. Their card reader was temporarily down, and there was no ATM close by...so we had to tell our young kids that we couldn't get any. My youngest was (very much!) looking forward to this treat, and started crying. A man (I'm assuming the owner?) was so unbelievably kind, come outside the store to bring my boys in and give them each a cupcake. Tried smallcakes in Alabama and was happy when one opened here. The cupcakes are moist. The lemon is my favorite. The lavender honey homemade ice cream is awesome. They are really pricey for just a cupcake which is why only 4 stars but for a "treat" my kids love em. read more

Like most cupcake places, the cupcakes themselves only come in a couple of flavors and have no flavor. The flavor is in the icing. This place is okay, I just wish they made better cake. We need a place like Icing on the Cake in Los Gatos in this area. read more

Customer service is friendly, but I expect better quality from a bakery. Cupcakes are overloaded with sugar and artificial flavor, nothing different from the cheap ones from grocery bakery. The cashier told me their cupcakes are fresh baked, however, since I bake a lot at home and I know what fresh tastes like, the moment I put these cupcakes into my mouth, I immediately can tell they are NOT fresh. After my review was posted, the owner sent me an email to let me know that a certificate for a cupcake will be waiting for me, if I can give their store another chance. And this is what you call good customer service. It took several months to take up on her offer. I didn't want her to think that the reason for that review is so I can get a free cupcake. I got the cupcakes for a birthday and was absolutely disgusted. The cake tastes like the Betty Crocker box cake anyone can buy at the local Safeway and figure out how to bake. The frosting, interestingly, tastes EXACTLY like the Pillsbury can of frosting.You can even taste the lard in the frosting. I admit, I had high expectations, the cupcakes looked amazing, but I am so disappointed in the quality, ESPECIALLY for the price. read more

My complaint has to do with customer service. Yesterday I went into the Danville store around 12:45. A worker was on the phone taking orders, there were a couple of other workers in the back talking and laughing. There were 3 customers in the store waiting to be served. After waiting 5 minutes the worker on the phone never looked up to acknowledge us or let us know when we could expect to be waited on. I called out to the people in back that we needed assistance and someone yelled out " someone will help you shortly". Nothing changed, worker continued taking phone order with head down, no acknowledgment of the 3 of us and so again after another 10 minutes I called out to those in the back, still laughing, talking, that we still needed assistance, and again, someone yelled out, " someone will help you shortly". More laughing from the back. So I called out that I would be leaving if no one could wait on any of us, no response, and I left, and another customer left. I don't care how good your cupcakes might be, this sort of crappy customer service will encourage me to go elsewhere and never visit your store again. To the owner, please be aware, if this happened once, chances are it has happened before and will happen again ....... maybe time for a sit down with your staff. read more

Very pretty cupcakes. Cake is soft and moist, but the frosting is way way way too sweet. Bought six for my daughters (6 and 9), and neither would eat the frosting. Another time at a soccer party, a girl took one bite and immediately scrapped off the frosting. Since these cupcakes are rather expensive ($3 each if I remember correctly), I probably wouldn't go back unless someone specifically ask for them. read more

We love Smallcakes! The cupcakes are delicious and look just as good as they taste. My kids are always begging to go there. The customer service is always top notch. Each time we've gone we've had such a positive experience. The workers are so patient when my kids want to try the different flavors of ice cream because they all sound/look amazing. The location of the shop with parking outside close by makes it so easy to run in and pick up an order. The seats outside make it comfy if we decide we want to sit and enjoy our cupcake or ice cream before we head home. Not only are the workers helpful at the store, but whenever I have questions, their customer service on social media is also quick to respond. We are taunted daily by their cupcake posts on Instagram and wish we could stop by every day! Smallcakes has only been around since last Spring, but my kids consider it THE place for treats in Danville. read more

I am someone who loves to search for great tasting cupcakes and SmallCakes Cupcakery in Danville never disappoints. They have the yummiest flavors! My favorites are the Lemon Drop, Caramel Crunch and banana split (seasonal). Guess what? They can pretty much make any of their signature and specialty cupcakes into a cake for you. They don't need a ton of notice to accommodate you. They are very friendly and kind- they respond to inquiries promptly which is a big deal for me and so appreciated! I just ordered a 6" round Banana Split cake for my son's 8th grade promotion and they recreated the cupcake perfectly. Banana cake with small chunks of banana, strawberry filling, whipped cream with nuts sprinkled along the edge of the cake. My kid was so happy to have such a yummy cake for dessert! Smallcakes is such a nice addition to the area and we love getting cupcakes here. They hands down have the best cupcakes we've had in the area. I have a gluten allergy and often times GF cupcakes are dry, crumbly and not that great at other bakeries. However, the GF cupcakes at Smallcakes are so good and honestly taste like the regular cupcakes. My family loved the regular cupcakes too and raved about the birthday sprinkles cupcake and red velvet flavors. So happy to have this bakery around now! We will be regulars! read more

The cupcakes are amazing! So delicious but the cakes on the other hand wasn't as good & completely over priced! My mom went in for a small (6-8 servings) cake for my grandmas birthday she was in a rush & didn't look at the receipt but was charged 71$ for a SMALL cake, when she picked up the cake and asked if it was correct she was told that they use the most fresh ingredients & do the math on how many cupcakes are used for a cake.. so they put 18 cupcakes in a tiny cake?! LET'S GET REAL - Cute display- no real decor, but not needed. It's a grab-n-go spot, no room to sit and enjoy (unless you don't mind that one chair where everyone in line is bumping your knees, it's a small place) Tried several ice cream samples- Coffee (rich and flavorful, very creamy), Vanilla (creamy but void of flavor), Chocolate (rich, creamy but not special), one kiddie-cup size (Like Baskin Robbins) $4.00....hmmm. Cupcakes- Chocolate with chocolate frosting- frosting was very fluffy and whipped, which I love but the taste is off- not sure if it's because of the sugar or chocolate they use/substitute but all chocolate items almost have that diet-nothingness with a bit of an after taste. Definitely would not go that route again. Birthday Cake flavor cupcake was VERY good. Frosting sweetness and whipped texture, just right- the cake was just like cake batter (the flavor) and moist. Cupcakes are a decent size, larger than a Safeway cupcake, but not HUGE- and for $3.90 each I feel it's a bit too high. I know rent is high in Danville but I just didn't feel they flavor warranted almost $4.00 - When I asked about the price I was told "we'll we make them fresh everyday", -- If it's a good enough reason for them, it should be sufficient enough for the customer, I guess. Highly doubt I'll be back. So many other bakeries and ice cream shops in town- Gelato at The Sweet Shop is fabulous and so much more fun to go in to...
