At this time we don't have gluten free waffles, sorry! We do have breakfast options without waffles, however. And we're always happy to make custom breakfasts, whenever we can.

Any vegetarian breakfast options?

We can substitute Hashbrowns for meat on any of the sandwich options. We also have fruit & waffle options. We will have a Blueberry/Lemon waffle on the menu thru the end of July. Hope this Helps! Julie Robinson

I could see sitting for hours gabbing with friends. Nice upbeat electronic music played in the background. Loud enough to hear but soft enough that you can hear who is next to you. I ordered the Omelette du jour - Three egg omelette special with bacon, spinach, caramelized onions, gorgonzola and blue cheese. It was fantastic. The first thing that hit my palate was the blue cheese and caramelized onions. Delicious combination. I was happy to see that the omelette was overflowing with caramelized onions as I love them. The accompanying roasted potatoes were cooked perfectly. I also got an espresso martini to wake me up and give me a buzz to start my day. The whole place was loud, and so alive with happy people stuffing their faces. The only downside is that they don't take reservations, so waits can stretch to an hour. We got lucky and scored two seats at the bar and only waited about 15 minutes on a very busy Saturday evening. There's free street parking all around, but keep in mind the neighborhood is popular and busy. You might circle a bit before snagging a spot. Indoor and outdoor seating is available.

Great staff with delicious waffle related items both sweet and savory. I ordered chicken and waffles that looked wonderful, the person I ordered from told me that the waffle stuck a bit to the bottom of the waffle maker so they had another waffle being made for me and it would be out in a second. I looked at the "stuck" waffle and it looked great still so I told them there was no need for a second waffle, the person just smiled and said it was already being cooked. Sandwich came out cold. Bacon overcooked. Egg cooked over hard, was not asked how I wanted it. When I went to the counter to let them know, they said sorry and then made it my fault that I didn't let them know sooner. I had taken about 3 bites. They didn't offer to refund after I said that I was not interested in having them remake it. The rotating Waffle of the Month specials have always been a hit with them. The menu offers a lot of flexibility regarding component selections and preparation. Favorites include the Smoked Salmon Avocado Benedict, the Iron Miner's Scramble (eggs, red potatoes, bacon, caramelized onion, black beans, and gravy), and the Lake Grove Breakfast (omelet or scramble). The food is tasty and high quality, as are the coffee and the Bloody Marys. Service is friendly and competent in our experience. Babica Hen takes reservations for parties of eight or more - otherwise, it's first come, first served. The restaurant is located next to the (formerly COVID mask-wearing) large elephant statue which is part of Lake Oswego's Gallery Without Walls outdoor sculpture exhibition. Our kids compliment my wife's homecooked breakfasts by exclaiming, "We're eating at Mama-ca Hen!"

Everything was well-seasoned, the portions were generous, and we left full. Nothing really stood out as a "wow" dish, but it was a good, satisfying breakfast. The drinks were decent as well. The atmosphere is pretty simple and doesn't have a lot of wow factor, but it feels like a neighborhood breakfast spot where the focus is on good food and even better hospitality. Overall, a solid local place with outstanding service, and next time we'll have to come back and give those famous waffles a try.

I got the breakfast enchiladas and a strawberry orange mimosa. Now, the mimosa - I'll get that out of the way first. It was weird - it looked curdled. It just had mashed strawberry at the bottom and it actually was quite good. I'd do a normal mimosa in the future, but good. But the enchiladas - delicious. Like, I'll come back again and again for those. And they didn't charge me extra for the avocado, which I think is righteous because I asked for no hash browns. But not all places would do that, they'd nickel and dime even if you passed on one side for another. Additionally; my husband likes a savory breakfast and a sweet one too - so he often gets two breakfasts and though he may not eat all of both he gets that savory and sweet. Well, the omelettes come with 3 pancakes. Perfection. And, I took 3 bites of them - I usually might try 1 or not at all - they are very very good. Last - it did not break the bank. I've about ruled out breakfast out because of how crazy expensive the places that should be reasonable are. This was reasonable - PLEASE DONT CHANGE!! And while my friend can vouch how their Pumpkin Pie is legendary (especially around the autumn holidays), I can say with certainty you want to try their Key Lime Pie! Prices are pretty decent for the portions you get. And service is generally very friendly and prompt, though they can get a little backed up on weekend mornings. Parking is also typically easy. And if the weather is nice, I would recommend taking a seat out on the patio. So yeah, nothing fancy, which is sometimes what you really need. This has become one of our most frequented breakfast stops when visiting PDX, and I can definitely forsee returning.
