I suggest going around three thirty in a Sunday, we got a front parking spot because the early birds were leaving, and no check out line because almost everyone was gone before we finished picking at closing time. I grew up going here. We always traveled from Brooklyn. I have since moved to Long Island, but for sentimental purposes my family still comes here. Before coming, I checked the website. When I googled the website, it said you close at 5. The website said 6. We got there right at 4 and just wanted to visit the pumpkin patch, so figured we had plenty of time either way. We loaded my two year old and my elderly parents (my dad is a stroke survivor and in a wheelchair) out of the car and went to the entrance. Immediately, a blonde woman in a beanie, maybe in her mid-50s, told me, with attitude "you can't come in we're closed." I told her that's not what their website says. She told me "yes it is I'll show you!" And proceeds to pull up Facebook. When I check hours for a business, I google them and whatever is linked as their official website is what I check. I am sure 99% of you do the same. Their website states right up top they are open 9-6. When I told the woman this, she said "I'm not checking these are the hours." Clearly she knew the website had inaccurate information. After I pulled it up and shows her she said to scroll down to a different area of the website. It stated that the orchard hours varied. That's fine and all, but when the website says the hours right up top, any logical, intelligent person would come to the conclusion for a place that calls themselves "Battleview ORCHARDS." Apparently, the hours at the top are for the store only. There were many others trying to get into the orchard who believed the hours at the top were for the orchard as well - it wasn't just me. My two year old son was crying because all he wanted was a pumpkin. I asked the blond lady if I could go in and just take a picture of my son with a pumpkin, as we traveled 4 hours. She called a cop over and told me "now you're trespassing". I was at the entrance. I did not enter the orchard, let me make that clear. Why would you threaten me like that in front of my two year old son? How nasty of a person are you to do something like that? And how am I trespassing by being in the entrance of a business and talking to a worker? I would never expect someone to be that evil. She should not be working a customer facing position if she cannot learn how to speak with people and handle situations where the establishment is clearly in the wrong, especially when there is a child involved. I asked the woman for a manager and she screamed at me stating she was. I told her she needs to fix the website if she is the manager, and she told me that she doesn't handle the website and to call the store and speak to their manager, so I did. The manager there said the store is separate from the orchard. So no one wanted to take responsibility. I even asked her for suggestions of things to do in the area so I can try and salvage the day, she just said "I don't know." The blond lady told me to "get out". Very classy in a family place, and super nice in front of a 2 year old who just sat in a car for 4 hours and is crying because he can see the pumpkins but can't go near them. I also want to point at, there were still MANY people actually picking pumpkins and it was a few minutes after 4 (and again, their website says 6). If she was the manager, and kind, she could've let us in for 2 minutes so my son could see the pumpkins I feel like this place is pulling a bait and switch so you show up and then have to spend your money in the store after driving hours because that's all you can do. If you read through other reviews, you'll see others were confused about the hours as well. When that many people are confused, maybe Battleview is in the wrong. I was have been coming here almost my whole life. Never again. I know of many others and have a large social media following who I will definitely share this with. It's a shame this place employs such mean spirited people. We ended up going to the store down the road, Wemrock Farms, and they were absolutely lovely and kind and had absolutely amazing apple cider donuts!!! read more

I came here for the first time in October 2017. It was an unseasonably warm day and this place was packed! Once you arrive you grab a red bucket and begin your journey. There are several apple orchards to choose from. This place is fairly big so expect a lot of walking. And if you plan on picking a lot of apples/pumpkins, it might be best to bring a wagon. Once we finished our apple picking we weighed our apples and paid in cash. We then drove over to the shop but were greeted with a huge crowd. The line for the doughnuts was massive so we skipped that. The shop was beyond packed as well but I couldn't resist picking up some apple cider (despite the long lines). The shop was lovely and had so many seasonal items and fresh produce. I just wish it had more cashiers/a way to better control the crowds. I will likely return next year but maybe earlier in the day to beat the rush! read more

They also do a wine tasting, which I think is a great idea, as a matter of fact, I stopped by with one of our friends, who we came to find out was a regular here... I have been coming here for a while now, primarily for apple picking and pumpkin picking during the fall season. Apple trees here are usually labelled with a color ribbon and the signs tell you which apples you are picking. Trees are not very tall, there some tall ones for certain apple types, however most are small making it very easy for children to pull them off. You can eat while you pick, just wipe them off or wash them with something to remove the pesticides. Grab a red bucket by the entrance and fill it up. They weigh it when you are done and you pay for whatever you picked which is not a bad deal. Prices here are a bit high, currently at $1.39 a pound. It can get crowded during peak hours, but with the amount of apple trees and rows here, everyone gets to do what they came for without getting in each others way. There are several locations where to pick all marked off the main road. Once done head over to the country store where you can get hot apple cider donuts. There are usually two flavors, plain and cinnamon sugar which is my favorite. There are cold donuts packaged inside if you don't want to make the line outside which is also Cash only. Inside they accept credit cards with the exception of AMEX and the minimum charge is $15. The cider station inside also not to be missed. I also pickup a pie or two to go before leaving. Parking can be a pain, there is much more space towards the back, which also makes it easier to leave the store once you are done. I usually park as far back as I can find to make my getaway quick without any delays. read more

There were plenty of trees to pick from, prices were reasonable, and I think I sampled more than I actually picked. Just be careful because you will be tempted to pick more than you will actually use. The optimal cherries to pick are the 2-3 cherries that share the same stem. A family tradition for over 7 years and still going strong! We have a sick obsession and I am willing to admit it here. Sometimes...just for no reason at all on a lazy autumn day...we get this craving that can only be satisfied by driving here. Like driving over two hours out of the way here....to just park, wait in line, and get something so delicious, it must be made with love and possibly a little bit of lard. Their cinnamon apple donuts could stop the war in Iraq. Just one dozen. Oh, and a cup of hot apple cider to go with it. Think you can just have one? Sure, for $0.79 you can, but honestly...who are you kidding?! Stand in line and make friends before 4 PM, because that's when they close the line off. Think you can beat the system and go inside to by the pre-made donuts? Nope...they are always sold out. Feel bad again that you ate about 2,000 calories over what you're supposed to? With all the traffic leading up to the farm and orchards, I was afraid that all the good apples would be picked already. When we arrived, yes the trees closer to the weigh-in check out were empty of its fruition, but there were plenty of trees toward the back with more apples than destructive kids could throw for no apparent reason. The pumpkin fields were large too and plenty for you to pick. You are provided a red bucket and brown paper bag to haul the apples. Based on weight of your bag at check out, the price is given to you and you pay in cash. The store itself is NOT a tourist trap! It is a legit mini grocery store. The fresh mozzarella is truly fresh, I know because I've made mozzarella from curds before and know exactly what "fresh" is suppose to taste like. They have various pies and breads, enough calories to feed a large army. The apple cider is absolutely delicious and they sell it for $1 per cup through a little window inside the store. The store itself does accept credit cards. Tip: there are 2 fields, less people in the one in the back. So keep driving. read more

It's that time of year again. Apple picking! Like leaf peeping, it's tradition to do this in the Fall and if you're on the East Coast. My suggestion is to get to Battleview early. Anything past noon and you will be parking at the lots down the street, have to walk a bit to get to the apples, or plainly get stuck in traffic and never reach Battleview. If you get stuck, I guess the bakery is somewhat of a consolation. The orchard is pretty big and there are rows and rows of apples. In one day you can pick a variety of apples for baking and eating raw. You can rent one of those apple picking poles or just use your bare hands. There are lots of apples to pick and you can even taste while you pick. Macoun, Red Delicious, Jonagold, Fuji, etc. are all available. Just wander the grounds or check the farm schedule if you are interested in picking a specific kind. We filled our bucket a fourth of the way. We also went through the pumpkin patch and picked a decent pumpkin. The sizes are great for carving jack-o-lanterns or making pies. Even though the pumpkins are heavy, the price is not too bad. I spent way less than I thought I would. It's about 69 cents a pound. The bakery is a must. Apple Cider, Apple Cider donuts, pies, fresh fruit and vegetables... It's hard not to buy everything because everything looks so good! My only annoyance with Battleview is their membership card. They pretty much harass everyone into buying a card saying that it is mandatory if you want to make purchases at Battleview. However, they don't even check when you pay. So save yourself the dollar if you can and don't buy this card if you don't have to. read more

We had an amazing time at the farm!! It was August 18, and peaches were out! We had a lot of fun picking white peaches, yellow peaches and nectarines. Some of them were ready to eat and some needed a little bit of waiting. Both types of peaches were juicy and sweet. The nectarines aren't ready yet. They are so good that I am not planning on doing any cobblers or jams, I am going to eat them as is. Maybe with a little cream... The peach fields are ahead of the actual farm stand, just an FYI. The farm stand is lovely!! Full of fresh produces and cool food items. The pies are gorgeous and pretty cheap compared to New York prices. An apple pie is $12. You can sample them too!!! I find the bakeries to be the best part of the farms :) Definitely an awesome day out of the city to go with friends and family. Takes you 1 hour to drive and 15 minutes to collect, but it's all worth it! read more

This is the kind of place where no matter where you live in the garden state, you should make it a point to come here at least once. What Battleview Orchards does, they do right. My most recent visit was on one of the first truly Autumn feeling days and they were completely packed! I should note that there are basically two parts to Battleview Orchards. There is the farm where you go to pick apples and pumpkins. Then up the road is the market where you can buy delicious apple cider doughnuts and apple cider. In regards to the farm, their pumpkins are pretty cheap! They charge by weight and their pricing is pretty fair. We walked away with a rather large pumpkin and a tiny pumpkin for just over $10. We then made the drive down the street to the market. Expect to wait if you plan on coming on a nice day as there were two lines; one to get in the market and another for the doughnuts which are served via an outside window. You may be thinking that there is no doughnut worth waiting in line for but I assure you that these are some of the best you will ever have. I would strongly advise against ever getting less than half a dozen of the cinnamon sugar apple cider variety as you will regret your decision after taking your first bite. They are hot, sweet, doughy, and absolutely out of this world. The apple cider is also fresh and delicious and the perfect accompaniment. Decided to come here on a Saturday... probably not the best idea. It was really pack , to even get into where parking is was about a 10 min wait. All the apples were really high up to catch which was a bummer for my god daughter not being able to get apples on her own. The ones that she did get were really good, perfect to make an apple pie with There's lots of pumpkins, and a lot of busted ones. The further back we went the better they were! But she was happy to get a perfect round one for her! Overall it was a nice experience , there's a lot of workers to help! Which is a plus! Will be back around next Halloween season read more

I love picking fruits here! You just drive up and park your car in the field. Grab a bucket and follow the sign to whichever fruits you'd like to pick. I eat and pick the fruits. So delicious, juicy, and savory! I can't help myself! I've been coming here for a couple of years with my family and we are always satisfied. We've gotten some pumpkins here as well. I guess it depends at what time or time during the season you go, but when our family visits, it seems that there aren't huge crowds of people in your way. We relax, sit on the grass, eat our peaches, and continue picking more. Also, by the way, Picking Your Own is CASH ONLY and NO PETS in case you were wondering. Picking your own isn't that expensive, but if you decide to do a little shopping inside their store...things can get pricey. I know it's all homegrown and organic, but I just don't have a lot of money to shell out for a small bottle of honey. Went to battleview orchards on a Saturday. Stopped at the store first, for some fresh hot apple cider donuts; as well as for hot apple cider drink. The hot donuts here are my favorite. Such a good taste. Went into the store next, to shop around, and picked up items for the house as well as food items (of course cider and donuts for home). Very nice selection of seasonal products. Then, headed for apple and pumpkin picking. Started with apple picking, and the apple field was huge. So many different type of apples to chose from, during 1st weekend of October 2018. Picked up a mix of Granny Smith, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, and Rome. Red Delicious being my new favorite apple now. All apples were fresh as well, from the trees. Since the place was so large, it didnt feel crowded or congested. We had plenty of space to pick, without someone being on your back. Before leaving, went to the pumpkin picking area, to grab a nice large pumpkin for home. Overall a great place to spend your Saturday morning and afternoon. If you don't like crowds and like social distancing, this may not be for you. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon around 3. It was so crowded. There was a bit confusion because there are three lines. One for the cider (which was amazing), another for the donuts (which were amazing) and for inside the store. We didn't get a chance to go to the orchard but we will try again next time. We drove an hour and a half for donuts and cider but it was delicious. read more

Best apple cider donuts at any farm that I know in both NY & NJ and I've been to many. They come out warm and delicious every time with a sugary top. Must get these every time. As far as the farm itself, I do not pumpkin pick or do any of that there. The farm is quite commercialized as too many NY'ers have infiltrated it and has made it overly congested. I suggest if you are local to go very early in Fall or later when the season is over - get there late - and park in the back. 4/5 stars overall a great place to shop for baked goods and enjoy their donuts ! read more

Dogs everywhere but my 8lb service dog (which I was holding btw) posed a big enough problem that a young blonde staff worker followed and harassed me even after I said I was leaving. One of the long time pick your own and farmers markets in the area. They have a small market store where the sell various items, groceries, and most important of all.......their baked goods. Their pies are second to none! Forget the other orchards in the area, such as Delicious. They are good......Battleview is better! Apple, blueberry (crunch of course), pumpkin.......they are all delicious and loaded with fruit. Now be warned, their prices have gone up in the past few years, to the point where I say they are high. But if you are going to pay for something, it might as well be the best. This place is really nice and awesome thing to do especially with your kids if there not throwing the apples or running wild thru the apple tree crops ! That was the annoying part, like everyone is there to have a nice experience and pick apples and pumpkins and with there family it be nice if you had your kids more closer to you and not running nuts everywhere and almost hitting people with fruits from throwing them. I came here with a nice group and once you finally get in you park your car in a huge open grassy area and you walk in to the farm and theres buckets for you to pick apples and you get to rent a apple picker which is this huge long stick with a bag on top so you can reach for the apples high up and it cost you $20 to rent in which you get back. Theres different apples from golden delicious, fuji, and granny smith and you go from a huge areas with paths going down and you search for apples and pick them, let me tell you those buckets can get pretty heavy! You be surprised how fast you can fill it up. I was disappointed that I barely found granny smith apples and I love those the best, there was barely any! Pumpkin picking is in the front, theres a pretty big selection and you gotta look good for the nice ones, theres really big ones and heavy and then the small ones. They charge you by the pound just like the apples. CASH ONLY! The best part of this trip was the APPLE CIDER DONUTS! They are sooooo freaking good omgosh! They run out so quickly too, they stop baking them by 5pm so get there early and watch them fresh made and there the best when they come straight off the fryer! YUMMY! The store is cute and sells a lot of nice things and all fresh made stuff and pretty pricey, the apple cider is good and the donuts are just the best. The people who work in here and the farm are not that nice or helpful your really on your own but whatever. I would def.come back to this place I just like to enjoy the whole feeling of just nice nature, great time and bonding with friends and loved ones and picking out fruits and pumpkins. But if you do come with your kids please control them theres others who would like to enjoy the whole experience also! read more

We go here every year for apples and pumpkins and of course for their general store. Very busy, very crowded. Long lines at the store for their donuts and pies, kind of tight squeeze in the store, but very worth it. They sell fresh baked pastries, jams, sauces, produce, cider and various cute knick knacks and kitchenware. If you're looking for holiday or birthday gifts for that someone who's not really into gift cards, clothes, jewelry, but more into gourmet and home stuff then this is the place to shop. read more

My go-to for holiday pies & apple cider donuts (as well as frequent treats throughout the year!) - Must point out: the pies are moist, w/out excess moisture bottom of crust. - I've been the family pie-getter @ holidays for a long time now & Battleview gets accolades! I've recommended to others' for their families, too & it's become their go-to as well! My favorite apple cider donuts in NJ so far. I've only been here once on a Saturday. I heard about the lines so we tried to get there before 3 which is when they stop making fresh donuts. The traffic getting to the farm was crazy. A lot of people parked on the side of the road so we were sure if we had to do the same. They have an open lot across their store front which they use as parking for crowded days. So you don't have to park on the side. The general store was bery crowded but we walked around a little saw that they had a lot of cute pastries, a ton of jams and maple syrups.. but we were here for the donuts. The donut stand is outside and we got there when there was no line. The line got longer when it was closer 3. The donuts were hot and delicious, perfectly sweet. Worth the trip. There was also three variations of apple cider: hot, cold, and slushie. We opted for slushie, which was good. but the donuts were amazing. The donuts were still good the next day. read more
