I've been taking my 2007 335i here for service ever since the 4 year warranty expired. I bought my car in June of 2008. Rob, the owner and mechanic is certified and does excellent work. He is very knowledgeable. He's fast, reliable and honest. Over the years I've had to use the dealer for recall notices. They always gave me a list of things that "needed" to be done. I always took the list to Rob, who looked it over and explained to me if there was anything NECESSARY, he'd let me know and take care of it. He's saved me lots of money and I trust him. this is my first ever review on this app and i'm deciding to write it on this business because of the impact it has had on me. I took my 335 here because it had a valvetronic fault and robert was able to diagnose the car and basically hooked me up with a deal on replacing both the eccentric shaft and its motor. Robert called me to let me know that the car was done and ready to be picked up but let me know that he had to charge me an extra 100 dollars for an injector that he broke. He didn't let me know during the repair, only after. Usually when a mechanic breaks a part on accident they are responsible but since he was giving me a huge discount I went through with it without getting upset. However after doing so the car now has new issues that appeared after this fix. the car now rev surges when turning and is just not running smoothly in day to day traffic and idling. previously when i had the valvetronic fault it would rev hunt on cold starts but after that it drives smooth. Now after the fix, the car has all these new issues minus the rev hunting on cold starts. i took it back multiple times to see if he may have done something wrong when installing the parts and was ok for paying the diagnostic fee. However he let me know that he couldn't find anything wrong with it and that there was no engine or transmission codes. He states that he dosent want to throw parts at the car and that he had already put so much hours on this car. I understood but I am now left with a car that has new issues which will cost me more money down the line. it was a win lose type of situation. the win was getting the valvetronic fault fixed and the loss was getting new issues that were not there previously. This is why i have mixed feelings about this place and i hope whoever comes here has a better experience. read more

This is a review where it is easy to give 5 stars. I was recommended to BA from an existing client back when Rob's dad Manfried also ran the shop. In all of these years I haven't had one complaint with the service at BA. The service is efficient and straightforward. I appreciate knowing that I have a reliable professional to call when I have a problem with my car. A few weeks ago my car started to overheat and shut down. I towed my car to Rob late in the afternoon. He diagnosed the issue as my water pump. He ordered the part, repaired the car and performed a routine service by lunch the next day. He knows what he is doing and I appreciate it. I don't have to worry about (in my opinion) exorbitant fees or games and tricks that I've experienced at the dealerships. Robert Segger is total professional who does great work for a fair/reasonable price, and, as other reviewers have indicated, he is totally transparent in a proactive way, so I learn every time I bring my car in. Other shops would try to convince you to fix everything they could. His prices are very fair, less than what most of the local competing independent shops charge and far less than the dealer. What has also been surprising is that each time I've needed Rob's services, he got my car in very fast. The work was completed correctly and I got my car back fast...like same day fast. I would highly recommend Rob for any BMW needs in SoCal. He's extremely friendly and honest about his work. He's also very responsive and willing to explain anything about your car thoroughly. Pricing is subjective to everyone, but I would consider his pricing as highly fair to anyone. What I can respect the most is that Rob will be honest about any diagnosis he makes about your car. You won't forced into any expensive repairs unless he's sure that's the cause of the problem. He will not take your money based on an assumption regarding an issue with your car. He will educate you on how to be aware of any issues that may come-up and how to mitigate those issues until needing repair. Turn around time for quick services are 1-day depending on how busy he is. He's also willing to take your car overnight if you can only stop by after work. He will communicate with you promptly as your car is being cared for. My car needed an oil change and a brake inspection. I also had some concerns with the car's AC, not blowing cold air. Did some research to find a specialist near me and voila, Bavarian Autotech quickly was on the very top of my list. I exchanged a couple of quick emails through yelp with the shop owner: Rob. He promptly replied back with the needed feedback. A few days later, took the car to get it serviced. Rob took care of everything (oil change and brakes) quickly and efficiently. He also did an overview of the car to see if there were any other issues. Nothing stood out to be a concern. We also discussed the third issue which was discussed during the initial email exchange. Since the AC re-charge was not a pressing matter, we agreed it could be done at a later time. He gave me a price quote for that work as well. I an few weeks, I will return to have it addressed. In summary, Rob is fair priced, does a through job, keeping you informed of the progress, all the way. What more could you asked for. As for me, he is conveniently located so getting to him is not a concern. He is now my 'go to' car expert I recommend him for all your BMW needs. I was recommended to Bavarian Autotechs by a friend. They have done right by me every time. I have been looking for an honest place for service. I tried a few including dealers but ended up here. There's been a couple of times where Rob has inspected/ diagnosed my car a few times free a charge after I've been diagnosed from other places. Rob is always busy but takes time to help every time. At times, when I have called him to ask him about what a certain kind of repair would cost, he would tell me to do it myself, save money, and then proceed to give me insight about how to do the repair. Because of his work, I don't stress about car repairs. He always takes care of me. Now, he has always been a little expensive, not unfairly expensive but I think it is the case that he knows what he is worth and I respect that and have never minded paying a little more for his work. I'd give them 10 stars!! Best mechanic I've EVER had. As a BMW owner since 1980's, I've tried all area dealerships and many independents until finding Bavarian. Wouldn't go anywhere else! Rob is a smart & honest mechanic -- knows BMWs inside & out -- diagnoses have been spot on -- great at explaining problem without burying me in unnecessary details -- work always done on time and right -- family business/2nd generation; his dad before him -- takes pride in his work -- very fair $$ -- and he's kind! I've read the few low-score reviews and can't believe they're talking about the same place! I once called Rob while on a road trip in another state. He helped diagnose problem over phone, told me what to ask for & how much it should cost to make sure I got correct parts and didn't get ripped off. And he had absolutely nothing to gain. My 84 325e had an AC issue and needed a hose replaced...although Rob didn't directly fix this he did refer me to a local small shop who could take care of it for me. I had been trying to get my car smogged for six months and after getting ripped off multiple times by other places I ended up here. Rob was so incredibly honest and easy to communicate with. He had my car for a few days and was constantly in contact with me about what he was doing, what he was thinking, and where we were with cost and options. This was all I ever wanted from the other low life mechanics that were just there to take my money! Eventually we were able to get my car smogged, and I just got back from a 5,000 mile road trip and it worked like a charm! Keep in mind this is a 2006 X3 with 110,000 miles on it. I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place!!! I am on my 2nd BMW and have been coming here for more than 5 years. Once my first BMW went out of warranty, I needed to find a trusted mechanic. This place was a recommendation from my friend's Dad who had been bringing his car here for 10 years!! Rob is so knowledgeable and honest! I really wish I could give this place 10 stars! I brought my 2nd BMW in last week and Rob looked at my car and advised that I have a leak in the oil valve cover. He said that the repairs would require replacing some additional censors in the area and would run me about $600. He then told me that it was ridiculous that I would be having such a leak at about 50k miles and that I should contact BMW North America. This honesty is what keeps customers!! He could have easily not told me that part and I would have just blindly paid $600 for the repairs. This place is NOT OPEN on weekends and is located in Fullerton (I live in Irvine) I will take time off work and make drive to come here. Rob is amazing! This shop is top notch! I took my '95 318is here for an oil/fluid leak that was getting nasty junk all over my engine, I was happy with some things and not with others. Good: The owner is very friendly and took me out to my car while he looked for the leak. He told me what he could do and was very upfront. He seemed like he knew his stuff and the shop seemed well run and clean. He told me about how he goes to Germany each year and told me about his pics of Germany on the walls. Seemed like a real Beemer lover. Bad: He told me it could be the crankshaft seal or the power steering lines and that he could replace them. I had him replace the crank seal only because I really didn't think it was the power steering lines, but it didn't fix the leak. I took my car to another shop (that doesn't even specialize in Beemers) and they told me they could steam clean the engine and run it for while to pinpoint the leak. After doing that, they found out it was the power steering pump that was leaking, NOT the power steering lines or the crank seal. Got the PS pump replaced and the leak stopped immediately. Why didn't Bavarian Autotech diagnose it in the first place instead of wasting my money and throwing parts at the problem?? And they wanted to replace the power steering lines too! All it takes a little effort upfront to target the issue and spare the customer time and money. I'm not real happy about their lack of care in diagnosing the issue. He did seem very busy, so maybe he didn't have time to steam clean it, but if you don't have the time to do something the right way, why do it at all? Maybe the shop doesn't have steam cleaning capabilities either, but they could have directed me to a place that does and then had me come back to them. I want to like this shop. but I can't with my experience there. read more

Great service as always! Just got my '04 325i back from Bavarian, had a couple things done: coolant hose, starter motor, etc. I've been going to them for 5 years, and it's always been a great experience. In fact, I moved to San Diego and still bring my car back to them when I'm in the area visiting family. There are two specific things that make Bavarian a great experience: first, service is always quick, reasonably priced, and friendly; second (and more importantly), they fix problems right the first time around. I have a newer Mini Cooper, under warranty, which has to be taken to the dealer, and an endless source of frustration for me is that dealer techs always miss problems during service, and often don't even fix existing problems properly, which ends up requiring multiple trips just to get the same thing fixed. There's none of that with Bavarian; they are thorough and careful, and always get the job done right the first time! Thanks John for such a great place!
