If i could give you negative stars i would. I took my 3 series in to have an inspection done i was informed that my idler pulley needed to be replaced. Well marc told me it would be 300$ which i didnt want to do considering the part was only 30$ so he said he would put my idler pulley back in....well i went to go look at it today THERE WAS NO IDLER PULLEY AT ALL!! My OEM one was totally missing my belts were just going on metal no pulley nothing they were about to snap had i not looked to replace my thermostat! I was beyond upset i had been told by other members in the BMW community they had an Ok reputation. But after my experience i am not going to recommend them to any one if my belts had snapped i would have been stranded with no pulley at all and broken belts. I am furious. read more

Overpriced doesn't describe my experience with this business. I brought my 2006 325i here for a few service visits, and the last time I took it there I was told I needed a $4000 engine repair (and that didn't include the battery, brakes, sparkplug changes). Considering the car isn't worth more than $8000, I hesitated, and this caused the guy helping me to immediately change his quote from $4000 to $2500. His $1500 price drop made me a bit suspicious, so I went to another BMW mechanic on a friend's recommendation. They fixed every problem for $1300 and not a cent more. I took my 525i there for repair. Mark and his associate were friendly and appeared to be very knowledgeable with BMW's in general. They were able to diagnose my cars issues and come up with a fix. The only issue I have is their pricing. I was there for approximately 70 minutes and was charged $195 in labor charges. I asked how much they charged for labor per hour and was told that it varied. I didn't understand this because I assume all shops have standard labor hourly rates. Telling me that their rates vary made me suspicious that I was over charged! I don't believe they would sell you services you don't need, yet in still, not sure they are the right place if cost is an issue when you need mechanical services. read more

I've taken my car to Marc for multiple issues, he always seems to have the right solution for the problem, it helps that he has the same model car as me. Great team of mechanics and very close to my house. the only problem I have is the pricing, seems like for major jobs the labor is $200 more than other places. with that said BMW's are very sensitive cars and need someone who knows what they are doing and at Bavarian they know what they are doing. read more

If, however, you want the best BMW service in the LA area, Bavarian Workshop is the place. The same dude has been running the place since 1978. They are Far more knowledgable than any other beemer guys with whom I have worked. Experts on M cars. An order of magnitude cheaper than BMW dealer service. And they actually know what they are talking about unlike the 24 year old kid at the dealership. I love german cars. Especially my E46 M3. And I wont let anyone else work on it. Just look at their customers' cars. Its a parade of automotive masterpieces in that lot. It's M heaven on earth. I grew up in Santa monica and have been driving used European cars for 20 years. Bavarian Auto Shop Brought in my BMW M5 w/ SMG pump failure. Let me start by saying the highlight of my experience here was the owner calling me a "fucking asshole". Honestly can't recall the last time anyone called me that? I'm sure it's happened before as I'm from NYC and I am known to be unpleasant when I've been lied too and misled but I digress. In the owners defense at the time I was threatening to call the police if he didn't release my car to me and I refused to pay his diagnostic charges. But like every great ass this story has two sides and here's mine. From my perspective I bring the car to him after already paying 2 shops to "diagnose" the problem and I provided those reports to him already. I called this shop along with others to get an advance quote on this repair and was told $1,900 (which was the lesser of several others). They were a bit further than the others so I paid over $200 to tow it there but it would have been worth it for the price. After they had the car the repair quote went up well over 8k for the repair. Putting them only a few hundred dollars below BMW. Hey, the part is expensive, I get it. I asked if I could get the part on my own and pay them to install it. They were reluctant but then said yes, $1,600 for labor alone. Mind you we're now well over the agreed upon estimate prior to bringing them the car but I said ok. I ordered the part (used but with a warranty) and told them it was on the way. 3 days later they call me and say they won't do the work at all unless I buy a new part from them. So yes when I arrived to tow the car (and pay to do so) again asking me to pay $183 just for looking at it made me furious to say the least. They refused to work on it after they agreed too do it and now they wanted to charge me for diagnosing something that I already knew? Yeah the conversation was very unpleasant and the poor tow truck driver had to sit and watch it unfold...lol I gave him a good tip for putting up with it. Probably should be thankful because after going to another shop on Friday by Monday my car was fixed. Total cost was just under $1500 (parts and labor) which was less than just the labor here??..lol read more

I just got my M Roadster back from Bavarian Workshop and I could not be happier. I had a smaller pulley installed on my S/C along with a water/meth injection kit... the work done is show quality all the way down to the smallest detail. On top of that, Marc noticed that my clutch was a little funky (which it was) and he fixed that too! This was my first experience with this shop and I will be back for future work. In the past, I gave Mark's Bavarian Workshop the highest rating. Unfortunately, I discovered he was overcharging me for BMW OEM parts, charging for ignition coils that were still covered by a BMW extended warranty, installed a new battery but failed to connect the computer's monitoring connection which optimizes the battery charging, could not have reset the car's computer for the new battery with the wire disconnected, included a significant charge on my bill for installing and programming for the new battery, quoted me a ridiculous price to install low-dust brake pads (which I subsequently found I could easily do myself), and conducted himself in a rather arrogant and dishonest manner. Under no circumstances would I have my BMW serviced by this shop. I'm having much better service back at my selling dealer, Valencia BMW. read more

I wish i believed Cody's review before taking my mini in. My mini is out of warranty and so i thought I'd go to a local shop and hopefully not spend the insane amount for mini repairs as i would going to the dealership. Well, after spending $280 to have my car diagnosed (double what the dealership charges) i supposedly learned what is wrong with my car and that if i choose to have Bavarian workshop do the repair it will be double what the mini dealership would charge! DOUBLE. I had to call at 3 to find out the status of my car and they still weren't sure. Then a half an hour later he called (which when i got my bill he charged me for "an hour of further diagnosing wires and such) to tell me what he thought was wrong and the cost. I'm sure he is right and obviously they are professionals and have been in business for a long time. He was nice as well. But holy moly his prices are insane. I definitely take the blame for overpaying for diagnostic because i didn't ask. But come on. Double the dealership. You might as well go to the dealership, pay less than half and get a rental car while you're at it. Sadly, I will never go back. read more

Think of it as dealer prices with personalized service and top grade mechanics. I like the work but it's hard to swallow the cost. Been there once. AWESOME! It was my first visit to install the roof rack on my 2012 Black Mini. I purchased the rack through Mini/BMW uninstalled and thought I could have done it myself. Well, I kinda freaked out and was scared to do it "wrong". So I called looking around for pricing. The owner, a very nice man told me to just come in that day, in the afternoon and he would take a look. I got there and he helped me install it (he did most of the work) and DIDN'T charge me.( mind it that BMW charges over $200 ) It was such a kind and warm gesture!! My E46 M3 was purchased from Beverly Hill BMW and I've serviced there all these years. Even when it came out of warranty, I continued to take it them. Until recently. My differential started making weird noises. it has 55,000 miles. I shouldn't have any differential problems. I took it to Beverly hills BMW and was informed they don't fix, they replace. 6500$. A friend of a friend recommended Bavarian Workshop. they fixed it for a 3rd of the price. and got me a good deal on a set of new tires. If your BMW is in warranty, Beverly Hill BMW or any of these dealerships are probably fine. they just send the fat bills to Germany. But if you're paying, out of your pocket. This is the place. From the ease of scheduling an appointment online to the integrity of the staff to the quality of the service, Bavarian Workshop is the finest BMW service business around. The facilities are clean, contemporary, and feel like an actual BMW dealership but the staff is kind and honest. They made me aware of things that would need service soon but did not try to sell me on servicing them too soon and the final charges were actually less than initially quoted. I own a 335i 2008 but I have around 90k on it now everything is beautiful no problems what so ever. Most bmw forums talk about cleaning the valves with the walnut she'll machine. So I drove from el-sequndo to west hills to get my valves cleans and just maintain the car I also requested a differential oil change . I dropped it at Friday picked it up on Monday . Bill was 839$ on my way I called Marc the owner who is in charge of few kids graduating from school. I told him there is something wrong about the car his reply was maybe the fuel pump drive it till we get the engine service light on. Which I did for a week the light used to on but after restarting it will disappear. Any I took off one day during the week from.work and went to him. After 2 hours or so he says we are getting codes never seen before, he got me a rental from enterprise the second day he calls me saying my car is ready and getting washed. I asked him if he tested the car his reply was several time . They change a spark plug and a coil even though I only had 8k on the spark plugs and I have a receipt. Anyway after an argument with Marc about charging me 316 and he has a business to run plus rent to pay he lowered the price to 264 any I drove the car back before reaching my place at el- sequndo the light came on and car was shivering like hell. I called him he said he needs to read the codes . My advise to u guys who think about Bavarian workshop in west hills u r wasting time and money. The dealer is better for u will not save anything plus u have young kids just graduated from tech school working on your car. If I took my car to the dealer they will stand behind their mistake and give me excuses about rent etc... Well, I took my Bmw 745li year 2005 to this shop for hard start. To Diagnose the problem and to fix it, Marc the owner charged me $133.00. I said no problem as long as you can find the problem and fix it. They tested the entire fuel system and came up with fuel filter drain back valve broken, "REPLACE FUEL FILTER" with price tag of additional $345.17. It is outrages prices and cost as much as dealer. I accept for him to do the job and fix my car once and for all. Day after all is done and my car still the same. NOW he tells me that the FUEL FILTER is faulty and need to be replaced in order for the hard start condition to be corrected!!! I am out of $487.55 and back to square one and have to replace the fuel pump which cost another $800.00. I asked the manager to refund me for false diagnostic, He tells me I do not work for free?!! Even Though he got the job and made $487.55 on just replacing the fuel filter... This place is fraud and they like to replace good parts and make easy money and then hit you with another big one. Who knows maybe my fuel pump is good and is only a small wiring issue. DO not use this shop, It is fraud, super high prices, and they would nickle and dime you till you dry. No Mercy read more

My daughters vintage 1991 BMW 325i died in the middle of a busy Encino street on her way to work in the week prior to Christmas 2012. Since I do most of the repair work on her car, she called me (in the SF Bay Area) for advice. I come from a family of mechanics, and I know the BMW e30 inside and out. Thankfully, some helpful citizens (really ! in LA !) helped her get her dead car safely off the street. I did some quick research, and decided to call Bavarian workshop and explain her problem. They gave me a high degree of confidence (unlike another local shop that I had phoned) that they knew their business, and said they would be able to diagnose the problem the next day. My daughter had her dead BMW towed to Bavarian where they treated her with respect and were very helpful. The next day, Bavarian phoned my daughter to report that the problem was simply a frayed alternator belt that had slipped, and that the repair would be simple and inexpensive. They also asked when she last had her timing belt changed ... a critical maintenence issue for the e30. I last changed her belt about 30K miles ago ... but her car had sat in my driveway for nearly 5 years during the time she lived in NYC. Therefore, I told them to go-ahead and change the timing belt, since they were already working on the front-end of the car ... and the quoted cost of the belt replacement was VERY reasonable. Two days after her BMW was towed to Bavarian, she drove her car back on to LA streets, purring like a kitten. Bavarian had also inspected and replaced a number of other safety items; bulbs, fuses, etc. that needed attention. No upsells, no unnecessary work, no B.S. I was very happy that I found her an honest BMW-expert in LA. read more
