So I'm sitting at home in LA flipping channels and I stopped on "World Poker Tour - Bay 101 Shooting Star Part 2". I wouldn't have thought anything of it, however I just watched 5 poker pros endorse this casino and how great it is. I was in San Jose a year ago on a family vacation and saw that our hotel was about 5 miles from Bay 101 so I made a trip over (based on all the great pub I see on tv for this place). This is the WORST casino you'll ever go to. First.... The wait board was about 2 hours long, no exaggeration. Second... I finally get a seat and there is some weird 3 blind game where there is one small and 2 big blinds which makes for a wild gambling, bad beat laden game. Third... After a $6 rake on a $100-200 game there is NO jackpot of any sort. I'd give this place 1 star except for the fact that they have free self serve coffee, tea, and soda, this is the ONLY redeeming quality of Bay 101. I also came to learn that the no jackpot rule is due to a local ordinance enforced by the city (if I'm playing what do I care about your restrictions?). Do yourself a favor and throw quarters against a wall to gamble on before wasting your time and money at this place. read more

Unfair blackjack tables. I did not know having your casino rigged was legal in California but there's no other explanation for this place. Although bay 101 iswell known for its poker tournaments, I wouldn't suggest going there to play the other games. The food was pretty good though so I'll give them one star read more

It's a good casino the problem is a few bankers like to buy you out of your own bets and take control of your hand for instance I had a $40 bet playing blackjack and a banker bought my hand out without my knowledge when I turned and they put $100 on my bet and took control of my hand and hit a 15 on with a face card showing the down card was a six I lost $40 on that bet and another time I put two bets out one for $85 with a $20 buster bet and another for $35 and the banker bought out both so I took my chips off of the table and imagine my disbelief when this guy got a blackjack and a 20 on my hands and the dealer had a 5 card bust which pays 4-1 so all in all this one dealer over 2 hands cost me $240 in winnings. This system is stupid to say the least. Do you want to win my money or the banker's money BAY 101? Because that was horse s#%ti had $270 in my hand after that. $500 was my walk away number I soon after lost the rest of my money to a 14 hand string of dealer 18's and 19's not mad about that... that's bad luck I'm mad because I wouldn't have been in there for those hands if the banker would have sat his ass down and pushed chip racks like he's supposed to do. If you go, just know about this possibility I recommend the place still... nice place nice dealers although they aren't the sharpest people I sat down and put $100 in black chips (20's) and the dealer thought he forgot to take the bet that I never placed and it took the entire table to tell him I didn't bet for him to give me my money back actually terrible place to gamble go somewhere else... food is good though read more

this place is so depressing..and all the 3 card shufflers machines are corrupt--they have a built in card reader and a wifi -so it can be controlled up stairs..They will get cause someday..The gaming commission must be in on it..you will lose all the money.. the blackjack is a little better..keep in mind --pure corruption read more

I play poker daily at one of the casinos in the bay. I will not be coming here again for a long time. 3 strikes for this place. 1 The dealer screwed me out of a $100 pot by making a mistake. I raised preflop. I raised on the flop. I raised on the turn but the dealer flipped over the river during my raise. So the river had to come back and one of the 6 cards that killed my hand came out. The procedure is for the dealer to call the floorman over after he makes a mistake. He did not even do that. A player told me that this dealer makes a lot of mistakes. 2 The rake is the most expensive in the bay. $5 per hand. Other casinos have promotions and bonuses. City law prevents those but other casinos rake is only $3. The food is overpriced and doesn't taste good. $10 sandwich. No thank you. 3 Another incident occured where the game was really good but I was getting beaten by 3 outers repeatedly so I went broke. You have 20 minutes to come back. I repeatedly told the dealer to hold my seat 3x because the action was great. When I came back, the table was full. Players at the table confirmed I asked for a hold on my seat. I checked the time when I left. I still had 5 minutes left. The floorman lied to me and said I was gone for over 20 minutes. I asked him what time did I leave. He COULD NOT give me an answer. Another floorman tells me they don't check the time. How can you tell me how long I was gone when you don't know what time I left? He made it up. I also was told the procedure is to call the person back to the seat by the announce system. That step was not followed. This place is very inconsistent with their rules. There are many other instances where there is a player gone for over 20 minutes and they are not picked up WITH A LONG WAITING LIST. I was not happy being told bullshit. I checked the clock on the wall. I know the fact, the truth and the reality. I knew the EXACT TIME. So in summary: They screwed up then lied to me and blamed me. I did not get an apology. There is actually a 4th strike where a game was short handed and I didn't want to play. The dealer insulted me. Greedy ass dealer probably wanted more tip. They make more than enough untaxed income. I just remembered a 5th strike. There was another incident where the hand is over. Action goes by position. It is heads up. The lady in first position tells me to show. She was first to act so she is supposed to show her cards. She refused to show her cards and told me to show. She knows she lost but doesn't wanna show her cards. The dealer DOES & SAYS NOTHING. YELP needs to update the BAY 101 address: 1801 Bering Dr. S.J. 95112. Majority of game and procedure limitations that this casino has is caused by SJ City regulations, NOT casino management. City is too concerned with so-called "inducements to gamble," rather than player-friendly procedures and conditions. If the city wants to reduce inducements to gamble, perhaps they may wish to close all state lottery outlets. Lotteries are the WORST percentage proposition for gamblers...A REAL RIP-OFF. read more

I came here on a Monday 3 o'clock in the afternoon and you can only imagine what kind of people frequent this place! It was a good place to kill a little time before having to drop my cousin off at the airport considering San Jose Airport like a skip away, but a bad place to be if you want to meet the most eligible bachelors in San Jose. The moment I walked in there, I got at least a dozen or more the dirty sleezy slick haired middle aged dudes with ponytails gambling away their mortgage payments trying to be the next Chris Moneymaker. I felt dirty just being there! Anyway, I wasn't there to meet dudes, I was there to kill time and when you kill time at a casino, you lose money. It's a fact. That I did, although I can not complain too much I did win a little at black jack but i put it back and lost some at the poker table. Don't expect to be making small chat or conversation with other people at the table. They are not there to be your friend, they want to take your money. Or maybe they were staring at my tits. Who cares. This place is not high on my list of casinos, doesn't even come close to anywhere in Vegas, but it is a good place to kill time, and close to the airport. read more

Came here last night cause my girl said the food here was really good; well it wasn't. I ordered the prime rib special. It was dry. I felt disappointed because everyone on here gave it high reviews. The calamari was alright, but the fried rice was good. The service was friendly, but I'll just go to Texas Road House for prime ribs. read more

My review is on the restaurant only. The three of us lunch at the Bay at least twice a week. The food is delicious. The waiter, Sam and waitress know most customers by name remember their usual drink(s) and try to accommodate everyone. Unfortunately, I just heard after many years the Bay is terminating the dining staff. !What a mistake! The place is almost like CHEERS, whether the food was good or not it is a gathering place for all of us to be home away from home. In the corporate world my lonesome review will not carry much weight, but I hope the management will re-consider keeping the staff as we all know a waiter or waitress makes a experience pleasurable or Not. As frequent i can this place is not for everybody, Like many hand said lots of old Asian folk around around here. Most of the people that play are going it for a living. but enough about the customer. Staff are ok some better than others. Food service can be a bit slow. But beware if you are going play some where around mightnight to count your money especially loose change. the cashier at the poker side tend to take a buck or two from yall. this happen to me a couple of time. funny cause i usually tip them. it happen to me this morning around 2am, had 4 dollar chip( blue one) and couple of hundreds but only got $2 of the $4 so prendent as though was going the give him a 5 dollar tip but count my money then took the five back. and said the him that weird i swear i had 4 dollar but now i only have two. sorry no tips read more

Nice Casino, floor personnel very helpful, card games run very well, Food was good, better than I expected, after all it is basically a card room, albeit a nice one. I only gave 1 star because I can't give 0 stars. Bay101 is not a good place to gamble. food is ok but service is terrible. Deli workers are hostile. shift managers are hostile. people lose everything and all the money goes to the owners. owners doesn't care about customers losing their houses, cars, businesses and family. too many cameras that can zoom to your shoelaces. and cameras that can zoom to capture the license plates as you drive into the parking lot. why do they need cameras in the entrance of the parking lot is very intimidating and threatening to a customer that just wants to check things out without having to be noticed by security. read more

Bay 101 to me used to be one of the best establishments in the Bay Area! I have been playing cards here for over 3 years, and not once have I been carded.In the middle of my blackjack hand last night, a gentleman in a suit tapped my shoulder and asked me for my ID. As i was checking my wallet it became apparent that i had left my id in my hotel room in Downtown SJ. He asked me if I could go back to the room and grab my ID. I told him it was at least 30 minutes away and he said my chips can be put on hold. I have never been carded at this establishment in the 3+ years that i have been going, let alone during a hand. I went with a friend of mine who is the same age as me (My friend is of Asian Background) and was not to asked to provide ID. As he stayed and played at the tables i was asked to leave. When in doing so multiple players at the table said to the security officer "are you going to be carding us next?, that's not right for him to do after me and my friend being there for over 15 minutes at the same table) The Dealer was obviously frustrated at the security officer and was very apologetic when I asked for my chips to leave for the night. Members of the table were telling me to cash in my chips and that i shouldn't come back if this how they treat other people besides their type. When i went to cash in my chips the security officer said "sorry for the Inconvience" And i told him it was a little disrepectful for them to do that since most of the people there know me as i have been a patron for 3+ years. I think there are a lot of other nice casinos in the Bay Area that can easily replace this one for my future trips to SJ. read more
