I can't rate on the service performed on the carpet cleaning because their team did not show up to perform the task. We called him for a quote and we were quoted to deep cleaning for 3 bedroom and a living room for $240. By the time he showed up on Saturday morning, he said he should have charged us for $360 instead of $240 because our carpet required deep cleaning. But we refused the offer of 360 (given on the spot) and said we would like to get the cleaning of $240....even tho he previously said that 240 was for the deep cleaning. He then left and said he would return to our place by 1pm to perform the task. It is 2pm. So we called and cancelled it. If they want more businesses, please manage the appointments and customers well. If they want to rip off someone on the spot, don't do it when people can write their experience on yelp. read more

All heavy stains gone from a light carpet which in previous cleaning by a different company could not be removed. Very polite. Worked very efficiently. Marvin Henry (AKA Bay Area Carpet Cleaning) is the best! He's been cleaning the wool berber carpets in my San Francisco condo for the last 10 years. There aren't a lot of people with experience cleaning wool carpets, and Marvin does an excellent job. My carpets always looks better and smell fresher (after they dry) after his work (understand that when wool carpets are damp, there's a slight wet dog smell to them). His advice on maintaining them is invaluable. His rates are fair and reasonable, IMHO there an excellent value. The appointment was at 10, and at around 9:45 he called me to let me know that he was running a few minutes late. I REALLY appreciated this, because so many times services like these show up late without calling. He was cordial and professional and was done within an hour! I have used this company twice,I had a horrible rust stain which actually came out !I have almost white carpet. The employee Frank is very nice and works hard. I really appreciate the friendly service. I have two small dogs which can't help but stain the car- pet Occasionally. These stains came out too! I am a satisfied customer. This service is superior! I do not recommend this company. After agreeing to an appointment the team never showed up. When I called 15 mins before the agreed time to confirm, I was treated rudely. Obviously they had forgotten about my work, but no apologies were said. Then the person on the phone said "he could not hear me", hung up the phone and nobody answered again all day (I must have called 15 times). Bay Area Carpet Cleaning had been recommended by the previous tenant, so I called them. Marvin called back promptly and we set up an appointment very quickly. Today, he cleaned all the high-traffic areas for a great price. Marvin was extremely professional. He called to say he would be arriving soon, spent a very long time hand-scrubbing stains, then meticulously steam cleaning the whole carpet. I have a commercial building with linoleum floors that came out of a 1970's psychiatric care ward and haven't been cleaned for nearly a decade. The first bid I got from another floor specialist was for $1200(!) When Marvin came by to take a look he didn't faint or run screaming but instead did a very professional look-through which included taking the square footage of the area and discussing my options with me. I hired him to take on the project and I don't have a single regret. Marvin is very professional, polite and respectful. He gave me a great price for my three rooms and area carpet today. The first time I met him, I needed to have a carpet washed at my mom's house in SF on short notice---he was able to fit me in that day. He took his time in addressing the large dark stain in the entrance of the room, and was successful at removing the stain. The room looks great still today ( 2months ago). This is why I called him back today to clean my carpets at home. My carpets at home had a lot of pee stains from a large puppy. He was able to address those... And again, he did a great job. I needed to have my building's windows washed and called Bay Area Carpet Cleaning for an estimate. Marvin (the owner) showed up on time, did the inspection, then left and emailed me a competitive estimate within 48 hrs. I faxed back the signed contract. The day the work was supposed to be performed, he gave me a call apologizing that some of his crew did not show up for work and he was very sorry but had to cancel and since he did not have any more workers that could clean the outside windows of a 5-story high building like mine (using harness and ropes), he promised he would do his best to try and find a solution/alternate provider for me. After a few days he emailed back saying that he had been able to assemble a crew for the coming weekend and to please confirm. I have to say, I was quite impressed with the professionalism and his ability to come back with a solution within the initial estimate. Confirm I did and nobody showed up the agreed upon weekend, and that was also the last time I heard from Marvin. Disappointed, Marvin is charming, but I can't give this business more than 2 stars. read more

Marvin is the best! I hired BACC to clean my elderly aunt's carpet based on the Yelp reviews. He was quick to respond and able to schedule the cleaning exactly when we needed it. There was a small confusion on arrival time but when I called Marvin he immediately resolved and went right over. The carpet is in dire need of replacement but the landlord isn't ready to commit. Marvin took one look and told us this carpet needed replacing but he went at it best he could. There was at least 16 years worth of dirt, pet smells and really yucky grossness but he made it look almost new! Price was way better than the big carpet cleaners and the job was just as good if not better and he didn't try to nickel and dime us with "extras". If you need something cleaned, call Marvin. I called Marvin to have a wool shag rug cleaned. Our rug had multiple pet stains and lots of visible dirt. Marvin picked our rug up on the same day, assessed the damage and gave me a very reasonable quote. About two days later Marvin sent me photo's of the rug being cleaned. Marvin told me the rug looks great yet he was going to give it one more extra wash to confirm the pet stains were gone. The pictures he sent looked great and I did not see any remaining stains, nor the need for a second wash. Marvin went above and beyond and brought back what I thought was a brand new rug. this is a follow up review after my first appt with Marvin. my stairs mildewed after the initial cleaning. This was not a surprise because it happened the last time I had the carpets done. It's just a damp area with very little ventilation. Marvin came back to my place and re-did the steps with alternate treatments (2) more times free of charge until it was resolved. My 95 year old Uncle is in the hospital recovering from a recent illness so my mother decided to get his house cleaned from top to bottom for when he returns home . We set up the cleaning lady and next was to get his love seat and sofa cleaned . My mother, an old school woman , meaning she is not too tech savvy -- did a simple google search and Bay Area carpet cleaning came up as number one option with 5 stars. She simply called the number to ask a few questions about the services since she was not familiar with the process as she has never used this company before . Her main concern was to make sure the chemicals used wouldn't discolor the sofa . Not sure who she spoke with.. but I'm assuming it was the owner. She introduced herself and began to explain the situation . He didn't wanna answer any questions and basically asked her to google him to get the info and then call back in a very condescending manner. She remained calm and explained to him that she isn't tech savvy and would prefer a conversation with him . He seemed really condescending from his tone of voice to his responses . Then he asked about our location before he would give her further info and said he doesn't go there . She ended up disconnecting the call as a result. It's a shame because I see tons of great reviews and it seems like this is a black owned business We would've loved to give out hard earned dollars . We would've loved to support you ... unfortunately we couldn't ask about our other properties and if they "pinpoint" those neighborhoods because he was too damn rude . Marivn and his assistant were wonderful. Although late to the first appointment, they got stuck in traffic and kept in touch so I knew when they would arrive. Communication is all important in such situations, especially when you don't know who you're dealing with, so I appreciated that he kept me informed and updated as to his ETA. And he gave me a 25% discount for arriving late. I have an heirloom Oriental rug, antique, and another, smaller rug, both precious to me. Marvin clearly knew his business. Further, I had called the week before Thanksgiving and since I knew he was probably busy, I doubted I'd get it back in time. Wow, I have to say I was looking for someone to clean my late Grandmother's home in the Oakland Hill's. I knew this would be a project for someone with patient, and excellent experiences . While looking I came across Bay Area Carpet Cleaning, which was given great reviews in the New York Time. and of course this caught my eye. Wondering way would they do an add about someone from the BAY AREA. I called the company up to have Grandmother's carpet and hardwood floors cleaned. and I was expecting some out of the world figure. I spoke with the owner (Marvin) and his prices are remarkable for for the services he provided. I also learned from him the difference between spots and stain, which he was able to remove buffing and waxing of the hardwood floors were done with great taste. Did I forget to mention the sofa and love seat was almost 70 yrs old and (Marvin) assistance asked if I wanted to have it cleaned as well. At this point I was very very shock for him to ask that. thinking he was looking for more money, from me. this old thing has no life left. However once once I agreed to the service grandmother would have been very happy to see life given back to such a beautiful set. At the end of the job (Marvin) gave me a FREE bottle of spot removal, and when it runs out he will replace for FREE what more can you ask for.
