Fantastic gumbo soup. Flavorful and chicken was tender! Beignets were tough/doughy so they disappointed. My husband liked his Mr. T sandwich- a little pricy for the size but it was good. My sister didn't love the veggies on her veggie sandwich. Lastly, it was a holiday today so they closed early and we were not aware, but they blasted Closing Time on the stereo which I just thought was lacking tact.

We came here for lunch after a court hearing as the courthouse is just down the road making this a very convenient location. We were a party of four and when we arrived it was not busy but business picked up during our meal. THE DEAL: 100% self service. You order at the one counter , pick up from another counter and you seat yourself. SERVICE: The staff were so-so meaning not rude but definitely not friendly either. We felt like we were bothering them so not very inviting. FOOD & DRINK: We only tried two sandwiches as two of us got BLTs and two of us got Muffulettas. The BLT was meh with way over cooked bacon but the Muffuletta was good. Specialty coffees were weak. AMBIANCE: Great homage to New Orleans (Nawh'lins) and the Bayou and there is lots of awesome attention to detail. Be careful in the main dining area because there is a side door and they were receiving deliveries in the freezing cold winter temps the entire time we were there and that side door opens directly to the dining area making it was ridiculously and uncomfortably cold! Again, the staff couldn't be bothered. Not the worst I've ever had, but definitely nothing to make me wanna go back. C'est la vie!

My colleague asked me what I got and when I told her I got the Muffalotta, she said, "I make the mistake of going there and getting that like once a year and it's never what I hope for." Perfectly describes it. It was dry and overly salty. Tons of meat, sure, but not tasty and the meat wasn't flavorful cold cuts... just salty. The olive spread/chopped olives were okay. There was very minimal cheese. Good portion size but meh. I also ordered the everything croissant... and like... it was okay but I think it came in at like $7-8. I wouldn't get it again. In all, this place is okay. I wanted to try the Arm Drip but they didn't have it that day.

Bayou Bakery is a bustling but friendly environment. The service was quick for how busy it was on a Saturday. The pastries in the displays looked delectable, and they were ginormous! I ordered the beignets and they were fluffy, covered with powdered sugar, and most importantly, delicious! I definitely would go back and try their other pastries, such as the strawberry lemon scones or the large croissants!

Beignets: two out of three on this plate, and for $5, this treat is worth the money.

I love the beignets here, and they are usually the only food item I would get. However, for today's eating pleasure, I also got a biscuit with an egg added. You can't go wrong getting the beignets, bringing them home, and drink your own coffee while eating them. They are chewy, perfectly sweet with powdered sugar, and if you don't watch out, the powdered sugar can get all over your face. They are a great treat once in a while when I visit DC. The biscuit and egg was good. I think I could just order the biscuit by itself and have some strawberry jelly on the side with some butter. Service for today was good. No one was in line before or after me, so I was able to ask the young man behind the counter a question. The ambiance was quiet this morning. Probably because it's the day before Christmas, and everyone is where they are supposed to be. I enjoy returning here when I am in town. With the taste of their biscuit, this will be an added item for me to order.

The beignets were very fresh. I would recommend those. The Mr. T sandwich had a good sauce but it wasn't anything crazy. My friend got a grilled pimento cheese and it was cold. It's a pretty casual spot.

I've been wanting to stop by this place for years, and I finally did for restaurant week. I got the extended lunch special, which is 1/2 of a muff-a-lotta, a cup of gumbo, 3 beignets, and a sweet tea, all for $18.50! What a deal! Stepping inside made me feel like I was in The Big Easy again. There are lots of New Orleans decorations, and since it's almost Halloween they had a lot of spooky decor up too! For me, the best part of my lunch was the beignets! So warm and fluffy!

It is always fantastic to come by Bayou for breakfast. It's always crowded on the weekend so you might have to wait for a table, but it's definitely worth it! They have all your standard coffee options, but their food is consistently very good. I got their strawberry loaf, which had a very nice texture and a cute pink strawberry icing on top. The must have are always the beignets, but their tuna salad sandwich is also very good if you're looking for something low-key. This is a place I return to again and again!

Very vibrant sit down cafe with Nola fare. Gumbo was pretty salty, but the gumbo I've had in New Orleans were also very salty so maybe that's how it's supposed to be? Portion size was not too big, so it allowed us to try other things. They sold out of the smoked douille dog and we went with the muff-a-lotta samdwhoch instead who h was pretty good. But def get the beignets. 3 big ones for $5 is a deal and they were well made and fluffy. Not sure if I'd come back again for food but def for coffee and beignets. We came on the coldest day of winter this year and it was still packed, so pretty sure I'd breve worse on better days!

Very comfy bakery. I absolutely love New Orleans vibes. Can't get enough of them. The beignets were delicious the tea options were solid. The staff was friendly and provided recs which were helpful. Happy I was able to stop in again and thankful I remembered this place. They have plenty of seating and it's a cozy vibe.

This was the most authentic order of beignets I've had outside of NOLA. I loved the decor and it made me very nostalgic for the Bayou City. Staff was friendly-- plenty of room to sit and enjoy a wonderful breakfast!

Bayou bakery seems to be a pretty popular spot, as it was packed fairly early in the morning, and there are lines to order if you don't get there early. When you walk in, you place your order at the register, pay, and then seat yourself at an open table. When your order is ready, they call your name to pick it up at the counter. I stopped in for a quick breakfast and order some smoked salmon toast and a chai latte. The toast was delicious, and I loved that they have Crystal's hot sauce available! The chai latte was also good. The decor is very reminiscent of New Orleans style cafes. I would come back to try out the full brunch or lunch menu options.

Visiting a loved one at the jail or hanging out around courthouse for your court date? Bayou bakery is a lovely place to grab a coffee and pastry to unwind from the stress of whatever brought you to the area. They have all the coffee options you expect and they're in a great location right near the metro and the courthouse. It's New Orleans themed and according to my wife whose family is from there, it is pretty authentic. Definitely get the beignet and if you're looking for a deal, yesterday's pastries are $2.

I must say Tupelo Honey Is such a beautifully crafted place that pulls you out of the everyday hustle and bustle and places you within the southern comfort and warmth that oozes through the ambiance with smiles when they great you. It's natural unforced southern hospitality from A-Z. Also of note If you're able to please ask for the (Chef's Table) and thank me later! Now to the food I started off with the famous fried green tomatoes as an appetizer then I ordered a fresh squeezed pineapple juice that was just delicious after that the amazing shrimp and grits that's so delightful and the creole sauce is blended to perfection. Here's a little food hack for ya, add pieces of your fried green tomatoes into your shrimp and grits I promise you won't regret it!! for dessert you absolutely have to try the strawberry butter pecan cheesecake!! By the time the syrup arrived the waffle was now like warm and my 3 toddler sized/ seasonless, bland chicken strips were finished. The waffle was ok. The two slices of French toast were ok. A side would have been nice. Overall this was a one and done for me. The food wasn't good and the service was lacking.

When we made the reservation in advance, we called to ask if happy hour was everywhere or just at the bar; they said everywhere, so we booked a table. Plot twist, it's only at the bar / downstairs :))) We arrived 15 minutes early, so while they got our table ready, we ordered at the bar. 5 stars for the bartender. If I could review her, the host, and the happy hour prices in isolation, I would! They moved us upstairs, we sat down, and immediately saw the menus were different. We asked the gentleman bringing waters about happy hour and he sent the waiter over. The waiter, with about 2% helpfulness, shared that happy hour is only downstairs. I mentioned that we had called in advance to ask. We asked if it would be possible to have that menu or perhaps move. The conversation felt like pulling teeth. He said, with much dismissiveness, it was up to the host downstairs to move and if they had availability and left. (Fair, we move, he doesn't get his tip. An alternative? Give us the happy hour menu, still get your tip. Better yet, just be slightly helpful?) The host downstairs found us a table but shared it was booked at 6:15 so we needed to be in and out. It was no problem because we had arrived before 5 (early, remember?). Although, it took 15 minutes (I timed it!) for anyone to come bring waters or address us as their table. A little hard to operate with urgency when no one takes your order!! I got up, told the host stand, and they sent a server over, and he proceeded to come back all of three times. We also had to flag him down to get our check, while we sat with empty waters that were never once refilled. We had pizza, cod sliders, and half orders of aglio e olio pasta. The cod sliders were more breadding than fish, but the flavor was decent. The pasta was delicious. No five star Italian meal, but it hit the spot and the portion was plentiful. I didn't try the pizza but it was 12 inches, piping hot, and the two eating it couldn't finish it. The food came out quickly and hot. I think we spent under or just about $100 for four folks to have dinner + drinks, so the prices are really solid. Perhaps you get what you pay for though? Both of our male servers seemed annoyed to be dealing with us and mostly unhelpful. Noteworthy mention: there was a female server who was kind enough to bring us a brown paper bag for our to go box. She was running around and her tables seemed well cared for. Disappointed in my experience and the customer service.

A very nice touch to add a stem of Rose for the women. I would say that I gave it a lower star rating not because the food was bad. It was actually delicious, but probably the experience itself. The restaurant felt chaotic, and even though all the tables were not completely packed of course there were flowers everywhere people gathering with grandmother's mother's children, etc We were seated in a two people table and all the top past dishes started to pile up very quickly. Instead of monitoring, the progress of the finished dishes and removing those dishes due to space constraint, the dishes came from the kitchen, almost on top of one another, and at one point I had to hold a dish in my hand in order to make space to put a dish on top of another flatbread pan/dish, making things super chaotic. Also dishes had to be put on top of the menu because in order to order additional food, you need to leave at least one copy of the menu at the table. Overall, again the flavors and taste were good, though I might have had similar dishes from other places, and my partner commented that some of it is actually very close to the Capital One landing at DCA. I would just say that it was more due to the chaos and just the way that all the dishes piled up on top of us we felt like we were we had to eat super quickly so that we could stack dishes ourselves and create room at the table. Also, when serving the dishes were not kept level and basically was slide to the side of the dish, making presentation off
