Tuna Topper is their specialty, fresh crab and shrimp meat cooked with onions and peppers in white sauce, and served on english muffin with avocado and tomatoes on top. You also get your choice of side, and I went with French Fries. It was delicious. It might not be in the best area of SF but it is very clean and spacious inside. Excellent customer service. There is plenty of seating and it's waited service. My client had a great turkey avocado sandwich and he loved it. I was happy to support local business! Great for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For all intents and purposes, this is a greasy spoon, that I, a retired working stiff grew up on, that was for years catered to working class people who enjoyed simple and filling fare. The times have changed along with new management but it still carries that working class spirit and serves a nice variety of foods. If the time honored imagery of a greasy spoon doesn't sit well for you, then it's not for you. Working class and retired people come here to eat and schmooze. Visiting the area from NJ while on our way to Oahu. Based on reviews we decided to come check this joint out. My oldest ordered Banana Cinnamon Pancakes and said they were the best he ever had. Youngest had kids French Toast platter with eggs & bacon and really enjoyed. My eggs came with home fries that were absolutely perfectly cooked and delish! I remember seeing this place way back when I was a youth, and it seems I've been missing out for a long time. The Bayside Café has been sitting in this location for many, many years and I only recently discovered that it's a great spot for breakfast. They serve breakfast all day which is great because my first meal on most days is lunch. I'd been walking around the neighborhood looking for a specific address when I came upon the Bayside Café's front door and noticed the bright red Yelp sticker stuck on the window next to the door. That was my invitation to go inside. It's a small seat yourself type of restaurant with numerous booths and counter seating. There is one big round table at the corner of the restaurant. The wait staff are very friendly. On my first visit I ordered the Italian Omelette from their long list of omelette selections. The Italian is a mixture of Italian sausage, ground beef, onions, bell peppers and jack cheese folded inside a fried egg and topped with spaghetti sauce and more cheese. You have a choice of hash browns or crunchy home fried potatoes, and you get to select the toast of your choice. The omelette while just a bit greasy was delicious and filling. This morning I went with the French Toast Combo which includes two eggs cooked to order and your choice of bacon or sausage. The French Toast was delicious too. Just the powdered sugar was enough to sweeten it, but I poured a little syrup on it anyways. All in all it was another satisfying breakfast. It doesn't look like much, but they serve up some seriously mean eats all between $6-$10. Besides the pancakes, I had the Seafood benedict which was good albeit a bit too saucy. And my husband's Belgian waffle w/ eggs and hot link breakfast was NO joke. I love that the kitchen is completely open. I like being able to see all the cooks at work. The parking lot is small but there is plenty of street parking. Most booths have a window view although the view here isn't necessarily pretty. Sometimes you just really need a large amount of breakfast food and you don't care about the quality so much. Bayside Cafe is just the place for you at one of those times. My friend and I came here midmorning one Sunday looking for a hangover cure. It wasn't crowded at all, and even though the lot was filled up we were able to find parking on the street. I ordered the corned beef hash which wasn't particularly great, but it was just what I needed: a huge plate filled with meat, hash browns, and eggs. Have to dock a star because (1) I found one hair in my hash browns and (2) the waitress greeted the Asian family behind us with "ni hao" which is presumptuous and rude. I wouldn't come back here regularly, and the neighborhood isn't exactly inviting, but if you're looking for cheap, filling diner food, then Bayside is definitely a good option. read more

This place is literally only a short walk up the hill from my house. So very convenient. The place feels very open because of all the windows, which is great. And the staff is absolutely the nicest. The food is slightly better than most places and it's relatively cheap with lots of food. Can't beat that! And it's a quiet spot. read more

One of the few restaurants within walking distance of my place! Came here with my roomie after picking him up from SFO. I got the Popeye omelette (with added cheese) and traded my hash browns for one of my roommates pancakes. Love when things work out like that! I don't think the prices were THAT cheap to be honest. Standard diner prices and portions. It has a real neighborhood feel to it and there was a constant stream of customers. Service was pleasant and there is plenty of street parking. There is a parking lot outside the restaurant but it looks like you have to drive over the sidewalk to get to it so I'm not sure if you can actually park there. read more

Me and my family looked at pictures from this place, looked nice but wasn't. The service was welcoming but a little off. A waitress asked me what i wanted, i replied with "The BLT but with no tomato and add chicken" They responded with Sourdough or- "sourdough" i said. I chose the spicy pepper cheeseburger and was pleasantly surprised that fresh jalapeño and serrano peppers smothered the unexpectedly juicy patty. Given that the fries were noticeably frozen product, I reckoned the peppers would contest with the cheap product of the rest of my surroundings (yes, the décor and the food). But this is where the positive aspect of my experience concludes as the bun was cheap, the produce was low-quality (presumably Costco-type product) and the service barely passed. Bayside Cafe is an amazing place. Today was the first time coming here. The ambience reminds me of the old school diners seen on TV. I grew up around Sunnydale and I've always see this restaurant when I'm getting on the 101, taking the T train, 8, or 9 muni. Today I ordered the Eggs Benedict. So convenient, this place is right off of 101 at bayshore. The food and service was nothing short of warm. But as far as diner food goes, this place kept me just satisfied, nothing more. Also a sign claimed amazing views, but I don't think I could see anything except mountain. Given they're facing the freeway entrance, not sure if this is the panoramic dining experience. However, being located where it is, I didn't expect many ethnic choices on the menu, so it was a pleasant surprise when I saw Mexican food (incl. what I got --chilaquiles verdes) right next to the good ol' American hamburgers and onion rings. This place is definitely a convenient brunch stop that doesn't have a wait and is decent price-wise, clean-wise, and service-wise. RUN!! DO NOT GO HERE! IT'S TERRIBLE!! Really the only thing this place has going for it is the nice view. The staff was ok but everything they handed us was disgusting. The mustard was covered in crusty mustard. She handed my kid milk and the rim had a chunk of butter on it. The food was just awful. They should be embarrassed to call themselves a restaurant. My kids pancakes were burnt, her eggs looked like they had sat out over night... I thought at least my burger will be good. How can you screw up a burger, right?! Don't worry they can and will! The meat was so gross like they cooked it for maybe like 10 hours. The French fries were over cooked too. I took 2 bites of my burger and couldn't stomach the rest. It was the worst burger that I have ever had and the place is just gross. Pretty sure they should be inspected by the health department. You have been warned. read more
