This is a great place for breakfast,just a coffee and a pastry or dinner. Last night we had the raw tuna appetizer and I had to hold back from going again today.The pizza called "The Works " was just that but too soggy. We will eat it though on the way home, I will try baking it for a bit before we go. Service is wonderful and we enjoyed the back patio for quiet and being outside. read more

It takes a little over 2 hours to get back to the main landmass of Florida from mile marker zero, and on our way back last night we were too hungry to wait until we reached South Beach to get dinner. So, we stopped at a little place in picturesque Islamorada (still my favorite place in the Keys) called @baysidegourmet. Locally owned and operated, we were met with a giant crowd as we opened the door (that's always a good sign), but didn't wait long, as the staff was phenomenally efficient and hustling like you wouldn't believe. We took two open seats at the bar and were served by a bright and cheery waitress (who turned out to be one of the owners) Even though we knew what we wanted, she took the time to explain all of their intricate specials to us, and as we waited for our food we got to watch quite a show in the kitchen. We ordered a Caesar salad, a hand tossed four cheese pizza, topped with roasted chicken and spinach and added a Key Lime Pie (because why not!) to our dinner service. The food was mind bogglingly delicious and one of our bar neighbors even shared his personal "catch of the day" (which they will make for you - BYOF) which was a delicate and tender Yellowtail Snapper, breaded in Panko Flakes and served with mango salsa (it literally melted in my mouth). I'm not sure how I'm going to wait another who knows how long to eat here, but I'll be dreaming of this meal for quite a while, that's for sure. read more

Seriously if you want to live like a local ... Bayside is the place. It's where all of us locals eat many meals!! The owners are alwayssss there and you don't find that most anywhere! They truly care about their food, staff and customers. They just added an amazing touch of old school video games! So much fun! Their pasta salads are to die for.... sandwiches on point.... dinner portions so big you can have half for lunch the next day... pizza delishhhhhhh (I'm a jersey girl so I don't just say that...). One of the best eating experiences I've had in the Keys, and I've been coming for years. If you're looking to take a break from everything seafood, their pizzas are to die for. We ate one with black olives, mushrooms, and prosciutto, and my mouth was in heaven. Everything from the cheese, to the ingredients, to the crust is high-quality and cooked to perfection. We stopped in for a pizza the other day. We were very disappointed. The quality was one notch better than a Dominos pizza. The cheese came off the slice.as we ate it.The cheese was ewweee and gooee and tasted like it was one molecule away from being plastic. I am telling you whoever opens up a good pizza place that uses a wood or coal oven, with good ingredients , Caputo flour, King Aurthor Sir Galahan flour, Gustos flour is going to be a millionaire. Initially I gave them a 1 star rating. We arrived at the bayside gourmet and it was busy with no seating, so we ordered 2 pizzas to go. We were told it would be 15 minutes, an hour later we were still waiting. Poor service with no explanation! Updated: After waiting for 1 and 15 minutes we finally received our order. They refunded our money and gave us a pie with a sincere apology. The pizza was amazing! I would eat here again but call ahead or phone in a to go order:) read more

Delightful experience at this small, unassuming restaurant. Low marks for decor, but high marks for the background music (60's but not the usual top 40), and the service. The food was excellent. I had the veal saltimbocca, which was superlative. My wife had a tuna steak cooked to perfection with delicious rice and baby spinach sides. The wait staff was attentive and personable. We ate here twice on a recent trip. Breakfast was great. Bacon, jalapeño and Swiss omelette was loaded with crispy bacon and the side potatoes were excellent. Everyone in our party was thrilled especially our daughter who was served pancakes shaped like Mickey Mouse. FL..., right? Came back for dinner and their Italian menu. Had the veal saltimbocca. Incredible! Everyone in our party of 7 got something different and all were pleased. We sat outside and it was lovely. The place has a kitschy vibe, great 70's music a very friendly wait staff and the owner (Jersey born Philadelphia Eagles fan) came out and chatted with us both times to make sure we were enjoying. We love off the beaten path places and Bistro Gourmet was a welcome stop. If we are back in Islamorada we will go back. read more

I would not say "Gourmet". Perhaps they attempt a gourmet appearance to the food but not gourmet taste. I was very disappointed with the Margherita Pizza. It was a regular pizza with basil and regular tomatoes on it. Like the same tomatoes they use on a salad. Not San Marzano tomatoes which would be "gourmet" tomato's for that pizza, which melt deliciously in to the pizza. No olive oil to give it extra zest. Just round thick cut tomatoes on top of the pizza, with cut pieces of basil, not whole fresh leaves like the image on their website. The basil looks like grass clippings thrown on the pizza. I should have known it was not going to be Italian when they spelled it "Margarita". The cheese and pepperoni pizza was good because the pepperoni gives the plain pizza sauce flavor. Other that than that, the crust and sauce is blah. Food is edible but not "gourmet". The server Alicia was very friendly and sweet but the creepy red head at the dessert counter is not welcoming. Gave me a strange look when I walked in. I guess a gourmet place serving "Italian Specialties" is not familiar with Italy's diverse races of people with olive skin. read more

The place is simply and tastefully decorated. Their lobster bisque is delicious and velvety in bowl, not a cup which you want because is sooooo good!; three different salads and the only regret is that we don't live closer to come often. I had the gourmet salad with the blackened chichen breast, which was not overly black or spicy, crispy bacon with the best balsamic dressing I've ever eaten.
