Had a wonderful experience in this chic new, black-owned restaurant. We came for dinner and the service was wonderful for the beginning to end, our host was gracious and the owners even came to our table to greet us. The food is carribean inspired and delicious. There were also plenty of signature cocktails to try, my favorite was the "Rastarita", a caribbean inspired margarita. Our table tried a variety from the menu and this menu did not disappoint. Everything from the wings, jerk salmon, skirt steak, sweet plantains, gouda mac & cheese and coconut curry shrimp was to die for! Definitely have to go back for the brunch. read more

This is review is not for their food since I was never seated , but for poor customer service to those waiting to enter. When we arrived they took my name and number and said there was a 30 minute wait at 1:25pm. She told me they would call or I could come back in 30 mins. I did just that and was told Yes we have your name we are setting up. I sat back in the car with my friends at 2:10 we saw a party come after us getting seated, we went in again and we were told they were still not ready. We stood outside and a gentleman came out and asked why were we standing there he said you can wait in your car or take pictures. We responded that we already waited in the car for 30 mins and we wanted some fresh air. It was then 3:00pm and still no call or acknowledgement that we needed to be seated. The service was fast & very friendly. I had the Lobstah Mac n cheese & it was one of the best I've ever had! There was lobstah in every bite & it was gooey like mac n cheese should be. My husband got the burger & he said it was one of the best he's had in a long time. It looked delicious. My son got a chicken sandwich & he too said it was delicious & their fries were cooked perfect. Drinks were very good as well. Well worth every penny!! I've been telling everyone about them. Went for brunch with some of my longtime friends on Sunday and had an excellent experience! First, they took COVID precautions seriously, from taking temperatures to disinfecting tables and chairs between customers. Second, the hospitality was palpable! Service with a smile and extremely attentive to our needs. Lastly, the food was great and well seasoned. I was in town, visiting my parents in Uniondale when we were looking for a really nice brunch spot for Saturday morning. My mom found a feature in Newsday about this restaurant and the food and restaurant seemed like it would be quite good. Now my mom and dad are in their 70's and were born and raised in Jamaica, West Indies. I went to check out Yelp to look at the menu only to see that the menu items seemed like Jamaican fare with a twist! We were definitely excited! The restaurant itself is not very large, but also not super small. There was parking on the premises. As soon as we walked inside, we were approached with warm smiles (hey Victor Cruz lookalike) and seated immediately. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and it was immaculate. The general appearance of the interior was beautiful and you could tell they really paid attention to the decor of the restaurant. The "vibe" of the restaurant was very cool and classy...almost like a "daytime lounge" if any exists! 90's R&B added to the trendy feel of this restaurant. The ambiance was really nice and I would highly recommend this restaurant for a date. It was not packed to capacity at noon on Saturday, but there were quite a few diners eating and enjoying their food. The brunch menu includes chicken and waffles, egg sandwiches as well as steak, shrimp, pancakes, porridge, etc. It was varied enough, I think, to appeal to most diners. My brother and I ordered the steak and chimichurri over eggs, my dad got an omelet, my mother had the shrimp over eggs. We also enjoyed a really nice flavorful coffee! It might've taken a slightly longer amount of time to get our order out, but it seemed that they had been understaffed that day. The gentleman serving us was extremely nice and he apologized for any delay (which I did not find to be unreasonable). We all enjoyed our food and the portions were quite large (but not sloppy large), enough that everyone had leftovers (except for me, I'm greedy). My mother made it a point to tell our server that "I've never had Jamaican food like this before"! That was an accurate statement. To provide an example, the steak and eggs I had would seem like traditional American fare; but the hash browns served with it had a definite spiced Jamaican flavor and it made for a very impressive, distinct dish that you wouldn't be able to find just anywhere! My understanding is that this is a really new restaurant that has only been open for about two months or so. I genuinely, wholeheartedly believe that this is no less than a 5 star restaurant and I would ask that any Yelper not be dissuaded by less than stellar reviews as this restaurant is still navigating the waters as a newbie. The food and presentation is fantastic. The service is also wonderful. The prices are beyond reasonable considering the fact that this is absolutely a fine dining experience. Horrible experience! The owner was very obnoxious to me and my family!! Very rude! If I'm asking for oxtails which i saw on the Instagram page yet gave me this long condescending explanation why he doesn't want to compete with his aunt "why would i have that here, i don't want to go into competition with my aunt"which I'm here waiting to get food that i was looking forward to all week which just ruined the entire experience! After spending $90 on food after being annoyed and under appreciated as a customer i don't even think i can enjoy the food at this point! I think this is a great little place. I know they wish they could have a bigger place. I dined yesterday during brunch. I enjoyed the atmosphere, reggae in the background was a little too loud but still good. Ordered the grits and jerk shrimp. They didn't skimp, good portions. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. They catered to the needs of our large group and responded to each request. We were greeted by the owners who were very caring and even took pictures with our guests. The food was absolutely amazing! I ordered the shrimp and grits. The shrimp were succulent, large and perfectly seasoned with their signature sauce. The other guests ordered the salmon dish and chicken and waffles. No one was disappointed. My wife and I were there today for brunch. And I must say the food was very good. She had the Cinnamon Toast crunch French toast and I had the chicken and waffles. It arrived timely and hot. Both dishes were extremely good. A word of warning, the little container that comes with the chicken and waffles is marked SBS stands for stands for scotch bonnet syrup, sweet but hot! Food is good, however owners seem just a little race discriminatory. Caucasian older couple told to move their car which was parked legally in a marked space by owner, then seated next to the bathroom though other tables clearly available. Less than 10 minutes later, a family of color parked in exact same spot, NOT told to move their car, and given a window seat. Don't really understand since we have been there multiple times and never felt it was an issue until today. Probably will not return, sad, but uncomfortable. My friends and I tried Bayview Kitchen for the first time this weekend, and we already have plans to go back. The food was beautiful and SO good! Highly recommend the calypso fries and the chicken and waffles, but everything else we had was amazing too, so you can't really go wrong! They are taking many precautions against COVID, so we all felt very safe and comfortable while we were there. I would call and make a reservation beforehand, as we had to wait a little while.
