We went to the baywatch resort for our anniversary. From the moment we arrived we were pleasantly surprised with the resort. The view of the water is both amazing from your balcony and from the private beach. The rooms were very up to date and clean. The breakfast was typical hotel breakfast but served the pourpse and was kept stocked well. I would recommend this hotel for a nice getaway for anyone. read more

As a first time visitor to Traverse City this was an excellent place to stay! We had a corner room with two king beds and a beach view-nothing better! Upon checking in all staff were friendly and accommodating. We were giving instructions on how the resort operated and what we should expect. We were given breakfast vouchers and multiple room keys for our stay. The beds were comfortable and ample pillows were provided for each guest. The beach that is connected to the resort was clean and well kept. There were plenty of lounge chairs and Adirondack chairs to sit in for guests. Float devices and yoga mats are also provided by the resort. My group and I had a great experience staying here and would definitely stay again! read more

I spent last night at Baywatch. What a treat. The bed was by far the best hotel bed I ever slept in. And the pillows were wonderful. My room had a small porch overlooking the bay with two comfortable chairs. What a great view. And the little things: I was hivrn a botyle of water at yhe desk, there was a basket with a make remover packet and a black washcloth embroidered with the words makeup remover in the bathroom. On top of it there were places to eat within walking distance. This morning I went to the breakfast room. I couldn't believe the windows looked out on the bay. The breakfast was substantial either many choices. Finally I loved the game shelf perfect for a rainy day or quiet evening. I most certainly recommend a stop here. Love that this hotel doesn't have carpet in the rooms. The king size bed was comfortable and we opted for a spa tub. The spa tub may be located better on the bay side. Ours was located between the window and the tv. The room was clean. Free coffee in the lobby is a bonus. The shower was spacious. We will definitely stay again. Only problem we had was traffic. Hard to make a left turn and difficult to walk across the road (by no fault of the hotel). read more

The hotel has a nice location and our room with king bed, which walked out to the beach had nice little patio furniture. The front desk was kind and accommodating. It would've been nice if they would've told us they don't make up your room or give you new towels, at all. We are not opposed to reusing our towels, but when they were wet, they would not dry overnight. After a couple days, our room started kind of smelling funky like wet towels. I think they should rethink this policy. My husband finally went and ask for new towels and we took out our own garbage. They also were not aware that their security doors on the outside of the individual buildings were not working . I hope this review is read by management and they make some changes. read more

Attentive staff. Breakfast delivery to the room ordered off a limited menu is a nice touch. Room was nice - spacious and with a good view. Good WiFi. My husband and I stayed in a balcony room on the second floor for three nights. We had a truly wonderful time. Honestly, it was the cleanest hotel room we have ever stayed at! For some, the breakfast might be lacking but we actually preferred choosing the breakfasts every morning and the time delivered to our door. The little box breakfasts were adorable and we enjoyed eating them on our balcony! The bay view was spectacular as well and the beach was tidy and well kept. All in all, the staff were very helpful and hospitable with only one who had a difficult time smiling and greeting guests. Not bad for the price, we're just staying one night and to be honest for the price it's nice. Haven't run across anything bad like the other reviews, and hope I don't. Right on the beach so it's a nice view and good parking and like I said the price is what originally drew me in. Came up to go through the tunnel of trees and then drive down and figured let's stay the night. The only bad thing was you could here people walking upstairs or down the hallways. When I was younger and dumber I'd pay a lot more but now I spend that money on myself whether it be shopping or eating. Arrived at 130pm with a check in time of 4pm. I was hoping to explore the area and have lunch so I asked if they would store our baggage. We were told they do not have a storage room so now stuck sitting outside with my wife and baggage for 2.5 hours. At $350 per night (and this was a discounted rate) I would expect more based on my 50 plus years of worldly travel. Very disappointed Staff was courtesy but I would not stay here again. read more

I would give this hotel a zero star rating if I could. We walked into our room after checking in and the bathroom was dirty. There was wet used toilet paper on the toilet seat and hair. They did clean right away however and apologized. The lobby was covered in spider webs on the inside. We couldn't not even use the walk out due to the massive amount of spiders. There was no housekeeping. We have stayed at the Grand Beach Resort Hotel, Sugar Beach, and Bayshore and will continue to go there but never here again. Sooo bummed to say this hotel has gone downhill. The location and private beach are outstanding and we love them. The good stops there. This is our second time staying here. Two years ago, we had a balcony room on the third floor and loved it. This time we had a first floor walkout room. There were bugs EVERYWHERE, not just from opening and closing our door. There were cobwebs full of them in the lamps and every corner. It was so gross. When we were walking the beach at night, there was a mouse running from patio to patio. Our room was so, so dirty, I showered with shoes on. Even the main hallway had bugs everywhere. When we requested housekeeping, they told my husband they didn't have time for us that day. The breakfast is prepackaged or frozen foods, they may as well call it a snack bar. I understand short staffing may impact your ability to clean every room every day.... Surely you could at least vacuum the bugs and wipe down the bathrooms. Even our toiletries provided in the bathroom were used when we arrived. I can't say enough about this place. We were in town for a hospitalized loved one. We just happened upon this resort. The room was extremely clean. The beds and bedding were exceptional. I thought that this resort was beautiful, but for almost $400 dollars a night (without tax) there's a lot that they could improve on. Firstly, I have to agree that it's not much of a resort. There wasn't a pool or anything. Furthermore, they need new housekeeping staff. The bathroom was extremely dirty, specifically the shower. I walked around the room with flip flops on because it was pretty gross seeing that. There was a lot of mold. There were also a lot of bugs. Dead ones on the bottom and ones that were alive on the ceiling. Mostly in the bathroom, but also the regular room. We spent the whole first night killing bugs and I was afraid to sleep because of it. I would give 4 stars if the cleanliness was improved, I've never stayed in such a dirty hotel. At least the sleeping area seemed clean. I really liked the location and it looked a lot nicer than all other hotels in the area. I liked that it was near a water sports rental place. I specifically chose it because of the private beach and room. We got two king beds and a balcony with ocean view. It was so beautiful and nice to sit on the balcony in the morning. After we killed all of the bugs, it wasn't a problem because we kept the balcony door shut. I'm guessing that the people before us had left it open. I do wish that this place was cleaner and had a pool. Furthermore, the beach towels were very small and thin and the beach chairs were very very cheap. Literally cheap plastic and uncomfortable. I'm not used to such low quality resorts. Especially at this price point. I would stay here again if the cleanliness improved. Especially if for some reason I was on a budget and everywhere else was booked. However, I think I'll spend a bit more and give Tamarack Lodge a try. Unfortunately they were totally booked on the dates we decided to visit TC. The staff was very kind and the rooms were big and nice (and updated!!). I did want this place because of the private beach, but unfortunately cleanliness is my top priority when choosing a place to stay. My wife booked this for a weekend away. Bed sheet has what appears to be a tobacco juice stain (I hope). We asked housekeeping to change it while we were gone and came back to the dirty sheets. We contacted them again and they said they were leaving so they left sheets with us to change our bed. Weird customer service approach. They give a free breakfast here. Kind of ingenious they give you an order form, fill it out and specify the time you want breakfast, and it magically arrives in the morning. Worst breakfast ever! Comparable to a budget rate motel. Frozen packaged breakfast sandwich or fruit loops...just plan on eating out for breakfast! We plan on never staying here again! I'm thankful I don't know what my wife payed for this as I'm sure I'd want to vomit! This is no "Resort"! read more

We made a trip up to Traverse City for a few days. We wanted to stay right on the bay and were looking for a nice hotel. We lucked out when we booked Baywatch last minute.This hotel is under renovation, but the area we stayed was newly redecorated. We thought it was fantastic. Great layout with all the amenities. Due to Covid they did not come to clean the room, but they are taking safety precautions in the hotel. I would suggest getting a room with a balcony and view. We loved our room and the views.....stunning. We really enjoyed spending time enjoying the view, sipping some wine, and relaxing on the beach in the evening. The sunsets are breathtaking. This hotel is located in a great spot and close to everything. We have made a few trips up to TC, and we plan to come back in the fall to check out some Bed&Breakfasts, but if that falls thru, Baywatch is a spot we will definitely return. read more

This is NOT a resort hotel. No pool. No servers bring you items beachside that you've ordered from the bar or the restaurant...since the hotel does not even have a bar, restaurant or servers...or room service. Just a boxed breakfast of cold cereal or a packet of instant oatmeal in your room. There is no daily cleaning as of 7/2022 except for their mopping the floor. They will also empty the trash cans and replace towels. I had to make my own bed at this "resort." Their website states: "During your stay we will offer bed and bath linen exchange." They did not. If you stay a week, they say they will do a standard cleaning on the 4th day. The website claims that a standard cleaning is limited to only once a week due to covid. This seems unlikely considering they don't even follow their own covid-standards posted on their website: "all staff are wearing masks per CDC recommendations." No staff member wears a mask. The walls are paper thin. You can hear everything everywhere. read more

Seems like a perfect setting. I stayed here for 21 days because this was one of the very few hotels my company found that could accommodate such a stay. In 21 days they cleaned my room only twice, after my calling them and asking them repeatedly to do so. Their breakfast is terrible and not worth ordering the terrible offerings to your room which come after you leave for work. Towels were difficult to obtain. The floors are vinyl planking. My room had sticky stuff all over the floor. I cleaned it off with wipes while on my hands and knees and discovered they don't wash the floors. When I moved in my desk was covered with food matter and sticky substances which I cleaned off. When they cleaned the room, twice in 21 days, they never left me new soap. I bought my own. It's really a very poor hotel in a nice setting. When I called tonight, before I leave in the morning for a receipt printed for me to pick up, they tell me I have to stop in before I go to the airport and ask for a receipt to be printed. They will not take a message to print one up for me the night before. This is important because every time I go tot he front desk, they don't take care of you in a timely manner. My company paid over 4,000$ for my stay. This hotel doesn't care at all about the customer experience. Terrible. I did not move to another hotel because I spent two hours cleaning the floor and desk and surfaces when I moved in. One of two days you will never know the difference. Nice spot. Beach. Stayed at Baywatch this past weekend (6/21-6/23). For the price (about $300.00 per night), I had higher expectations. I've traveled all over the country and stayed in many less expensive hotels and had significantly better experiences. Let me preface it by saying the hotel is beautifully designed. New, beachy theme, and very modern. My main issues: 1. Wood flooring throughout the hotel = very, very loud. You can hear every sound and get woke up continuously. 2. Gaps under the door mean light from the hallway pours into your room. 3. No real amenities. No pool, incredibly small beachfront, no premium tv channels, etc. 4. Terrible breakfast. Cereal, packaged oatmeal, grocery store muffins/donuts, and cheap sausage patties and egg discs. 5. Parking at the hotel is limited. If you are out for the evening and come back late, you are pressed to find a spot. Traverse City is an amazing place to visit and I can't wait to come back, but I will make sure to book early at another hotel. read more

Be careful when making a reservation. Be sure that you get the dates right. We arrived at Baywatch, thinking we had a reservation, only to find that we were in their system for the next night (when we'd be out of the area). They wanted twice the amount we had already paid for us to stay on the night we were there. They wouldn't refund our money for the error (even though they weren't out anything). They wouldn't even apply that amount so that we could stay on the night we arrived. We were standing right in their lobby and they wouldn't lift a finger to help us out. We booked via hotels.com and then we're contacted two weeks prior to our family vacation that this hotel does not use Hotels.com and would not honor the price we booked for or remotely close. Beautiful room and view. Love exercise room and limitless coffee and decent sized mini fridge with freezer. Negatives...no carpets anywhere, which means it is very loud. Also walls may be thin, could hear crying baby in the room next to us... all night. Another night had what we think was a toddler running back and forth endlessly in the room above us. My husband and I drove to Michigan from North Carolina in hopes to spend a wonderful Memorial Day weekend in Traverse City. However, upon our arrival for our 2 night stay with the Baywatch and after checking in and notifying them of my ESA (4lb full grown dog) and obtaining our room keys the OWNER of this establishment rudely approached us in the parking lot while we were unpacking our things and denied us of our stay. This all being said, my husbands career is one in the U.S. Army. About 3 years ago we found it best to battle some separation and anxiety (on my end) of him always being gone on deployments and training with a registered Emotional Support Animal. Being newly married and not wanting to have children right away, my 4lb chihuahua, quickly took on the role he was intended to be in our family. I want this review to shed light on how rudely we were denied. The owner of this establishment, after denying us, and me asking "just to be positive about what's happening right now...you're denying us our stay because of our ESA" he said yes, yes you are and smugly laughed and then proceeded to ask what purpose he serves. We were denied out of all weekends, Memorial. We took our business to the Bayshore Resort and would gladly recommend them not just for accommodating us as customers but also welcoming us with outstanding customer service. We also ended up extending our stay two more days with them. read more

My three stars is really related to the price compared to what you get. You are paying for the amazing views and awesome location. We had a ground floor room with walkout patio to the beach. The room was clean, updated, and quite lovely! The breakfast is abysmal. I wouldn't even bother with it. It would have been nice to see more offered or other things that other comparable hotels offer. Evening s'mores, cookies, flavored water, regional treats in partnership to promote a local business etc. have been items we've seen at other hotels. I was grateful they had a wine opener since we forgot ours but a bit surprised at the repeat question of what my room number was. Another disconcerting thing was the lack of checking to see who was using the beach or even sitting on the ground floor patio outside the rooms! There were a couple families with loud kids on the beach and we overheard them say they were from the RV park down the road. We woke up one morning to find a lady sitting in a chair right by our sliding door in what was designed to be a seating area for our room. Overall, it's a great place with a lot of potential to be more classier. The fresh design with open spaces is perfect and I loved the building. It would just be nice if they would add a few more amenities for the guest experience since it's a pricey place in peak tourist season. read more

Overall decent place with convenient beach access. I only have a few complaints - 1) we arrived 15-20 minutes prior to check-in and were turned away and then 2 couples arrived right after and were allowed to check-in and 2) it was apparent that bugs were swatted on walls and ceiling and their smushed bodies were just left there. I would also say that I felt like they should have done some screening questions for Covid and that would have made me feel more safe than not taking trash out of our room ever. Wearing masks and providing less hotel services is a good first step but I would like to know that their employees and guests are being screened. read more

In the evening - a blissful painting of sunset scapes. In the morning, peaceful lake waters so calm that any worries disintegrate as you melt into napping in your beach chair on the private little beach. Stayed Thursday - Friday in June... it was the perfect mini get away vacay that any hard working person could hope for! I recommend balcony lakeside view. We loved it here! I looked and looked for Airbnb's and all through VRBO. After hours of searching and waiting on owner responses for rules and different questions. I decided we could stay at a nice hotel for the same price as a tiny Airbnb that likely had terrible beds. This place is new, clean and very accommodating. We are traveling with our children and the two king beds in the room Vs two queens is genius! The rooms have hard floors vs dirty carpet and the color scheme is great. The property seems well maintained and the staff has been great! Everyone has been very friendly and the owner seems very vested. We have a great view from our room too! Cheap furniture on decks and on the beach. Minuscule "beach towels". Four cheap chairs in the breezeway as a common area. One ice maker on the property with signs saying not to fill your cooler. What a terrible "resort". Let me get something out of the way, the place itself is clean by virtue that it's super new. New paint, sheets etc. the view is ok but the amount of reserved "beach" is quite pathetic. I was a little surprised when I noticed that there's no pool or jacuzzi for public use, but I get it since there's a strip of "lake" to swim in. However, the weekend turned rainy, extremely rainy. And apparently there isn't much to do in town when it's rainy. It would have been nice to have something in house since this is a "resort". Honestly the whole thing felt more like a motel. There r no amenities. We asked if there is on-demand movies or a DVD player and were told that there isn't. We got a room with a balcony, but the amount of insects especially at night is out of a horror movie.... I mean millions of flying insects at night so we couldn't even enjoy the balcony. I get this establishment is near the lake, but it's 2019... I'm sure there is something they can spray to reduce the amount of insects.... we asked to switch to a room with a jacuzzi so we can have something to do at night (since everything in this town completely shuts down at 9-10 pm) and were told that's not possible. We tried to reduce our stay by 1 night since there's nothing to do... and were told no as well. Now to the straw that broke the camels back.:. The breakfast.... in light of all the crap and disappointment that came with this "hotel"... we decided to grab a complimentary free breakfast... I have been to thousands of hotels as we travel very frequently, and let me just say - this is by far the worse breakfast I have ever seen.... the bar included 3 muffins, some gas station powdered donuts, canned fruit (yes canned fruit - not fresh fruit) 3 egg patties, some bread.... dilute nasty coffee and juice..... none of it was edible. Have you not heard of - "if you can't do something right don't do it at all??" If you're incapable of serving a real breakfast then plz stop insulting your customers and don't service it period.... If we spent 50-70$ per night on a cheap motel I would get it... but we spent 200$ a night... for this price there are much better real resorts in the area. Yes it is new...but all there is is the room...for a resort you would think of a nice common area to hang out...seating area near the beach but not in the sand...heat lamps and tables... All this is available at other resorts...just not this one! For the price you are better off going to any of the other beach locations...last year we stayed at sugar beach...older but nicer in all aspects.... The girl working the front desk most of the weekend was the rudest person I have ever met. She should NOT be working in a customer facing position. We showed up an hour earlier than check in as we flew in for our stay. We had electric scooters to get from the airport to the hotel and were carrying backpacks. We asked if our room was ready and she said no. I asked her if she could text me when the room was ready and if we could put our backpacks somewhere so we could leave and come back when the room was ready. All she said was "NO". I explained to her that we had no car to put our bags in and asked her, given the price I paid for the room if they could make accommodations for us. She just stared at me and didn't say a word. I asked her if she was going to say something and she said nothing but continued to stare at me. We were forced to sit on the beach where are bags became full of sand. I saw a bunch of people checking in around 3:30 (check in is 4:00) so I decided to ask again if our room was ready. She said yes it was. I then asked why she didn't text me per our earlier conversation. She said nothing, picked up her phone and I believe she made a fake phone call to nobody. She then said, sorry No, it's not ready. I sat there until it was ready which was exactly at 4:00. I believe she made us wait on purpose because she didn't like us. I should have read the recent Google reviews where a customer experienced the same attitude from what appears to be the same girl based upon their review. Yesterday I received a survey request from the hotel. Told them everything I told you here and they are not doing anything about it. In addition our coffee maker was broken in our room, our floor reeked of pot and the breakfast was sub par for paying nearly $900 to stay there 2 night (the amount of my monthly mortgage payment). I will be adding my Google review to this hotel as well as here and every other travel website. read more

This hotel is new and clean! Place has great views and is in a prime location. Just down the road from state park. Boat rentals are right next door. Very convenient and the staff is friendly! Beach is clean and cozy. I'm only giving it three stars honestly because the breakfast. The stay is magnificent and the next morning you are greeted by a terrible breakfast. Good news is there are fast food chains in the vicinity or less impressive hotels that still deliver quality. A little improvement there and this place is top notch!!! read more

The hotel was very nice, the king size beds were great, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Lots of chairs and a nice beach. We had a second floor room with a beach view that was awesome. BUT if your not a very sound sleeper find some place else to stay, you could hear every thing going on in the hall, room above and rooms on each side, to bad they didn't spend a little more money to take care of this problem. The bathroom doors were sticking so you could hear the doors slam every time someone went in them. At 2:30am you could hear the people above us walking around for over a hour. The location right on the beach was wonderful, and the rooms were new. Aside from that though it's hard to recommend this place, especially given the price and how this hotel bills itself as a "resort." (I'd argue most of how it presents itself on its web site is extremely misleading, though technically not fraudulent.) It has zero food options or amenities aside from a terrible, gas station-caliber breakfast and vending machines on each floor. The faux hardwood floors look nice but make it so that you hear all noise from people above you. Zero in-room cleaning during your stay leads to a layer of sand covering every flat surface in the room (including the sheets). Aside from the rooms there were no other places to be in this hotel, making their decision to call itself a "resort" extremely dubious. Had this place been cheaper I'd have rated it higher, because the beds were nice and it was a more than adequate place to sleep -- but as it is one of the priciest options in TC (or at least it was the week we were there) I'd encourage travelers to look elsewhere. read more

We like to give feedback on the the amazing experiences and those to "be warned" of. This is a story of the "be warned". We came up for a weekend to celebrate a birthday and were excited to find a place that was on the "beach". The excitement ended there. Literally the loudest room we have ever stayed at (especially for the price, for which you can easily stay beachfront in California). We do realize the people above us made the situation worse by pacing back and forth for hours and that is not the fault of the hotel, but the lack of any carpeting may look lovely and clean, it does nothing to help the terrible acoustics. Even with a white noise machine, the noise was disrupting and did not make us feel like we were at a "resort". Lots of other choices (and we cannot personally vouch for any of those options), but they certainly have to be a better value. read more

Questionable Customer Service and Policies. Wanted to reduce my stay by one day and was told that I could not, that I would have to cancel the entire stay because, "at this time" the Baywatch is not taking one night stays. Evan though this policy was not in place when I planned my stay. Management was questioned and could care less, they wanted me to pay for a day I was not staying there. I felt like a number to them and not a person. My money spends just at good at the Grand Beach Resort Hotel and they have better amenities. Thanks for forcing us to go to the Grand Beach Resort Hotel, our new vacation spot in Traverse City! read more
