Very corrupt, hideous and dishonest human nature you will meet in this place. Their listed prices don't meet the receipt price and when you tell them they continue to be deceitful and rude . This is not first time when I see this at them. I wrote in the past bad reviews for this place but I deleted and gave them a chance. They lost that chance today. Be very careful, when buying chocolates marked as "sugar free". I found chocolate candy, containing pure white sugar ( read the ingredients) in the bowl with sugarless ones. Have been going there for years. IMHO the leader in West Valley mid-priced ex-USSR - oriented stores/kitchens. Since they do a lot of prepared foods, you either like it and come back or keep looking / go elsewhere. Every "Russian" store has their dedicated clientele that talks down the others, so you have to try yourself. read more

You can take a Soviet person out of USSR, but you cannot take USSR out of a Soviet person. Not as much as USSR but 90s post USSR behavior. The cashier was looking at me like she was doing me a huge favor by helping me check out. Rude and primitive shoppers, and only a few of the sales people are friendly. It's very unfortunate because it's the only Russian by where I live. Decent selection of food, but the atmosphere is disgusting. Decent source of some Russian and European products, but they generally overcharge. Some of the food they prepare in-store, like their meat piroshki, are rather good, and others, like their Napoleon cake, are not worth trying. The cashiers are rude regardless of the language you speak, and I once got stared at the entire time my sister and I were checking out. They also tend to close before their official closing time, which made for an unpleasant surprise. If this were not the only Russian store near me, I would not come here. read more

BEWARE OF CHEATING on your receipt If you choose to shop there because the food is relatively good, check your receipt for the number of items you've purchased and on the prices, ESPECIALLY for the items that require weighing products. This market is well-known for cheating people. Check it out. I was charged at least triple of what I was supposed to pay! This is the 2nd time i got sick (throwing up and diahrea) after eating from their 'homecooked' deli. This time it was the eggplant salad, last time it was the fish. So tired of these people not giving a dam....about people's health but just to sell anything spoiled to make a buck! This place should be closed asap. Totally rude guy who works there unpacking fruits and vegetables, told me to open my own box with apples, when i asked him to help me open and lift up, so my 80 year old mother would not have to bend to her knees to pull a few apples. They are looking to employ a "Grocery Stocker". The ad on indeed says that the potential employee must be comfortable in a mostly Russian speaking environment. Okay. I printed out the ad and went in to interview like the ad informs to do. I tried to speak to 2 different women and they wouldn't even look at me. I understand the differences in cultures. I was born and raised in NYC, I didn't take it personally. So I persisted. One woman took my printout of their ad and brought it into the back...I waited. She came back 2 minutes later and told me that the manager is in the back, "go outside, 2 doors down on left...she'll be there". So I did as I was instructed without my printout as the woman never returned it to me. I saw the door, open. I looked inside and saw a small office on the left. A man was talking to someone inside. He saw me arrive in the doorway and didn't acknowledge me in any way. They were speaking to each other in a language I only assumed was Russian. I do not know the language. I waited perhaps 2 more minutes. Another man farther down inside the building walked past, also not acknowledging me after looking at me. After another minute, I left. I simply walked (slowly, just in case they'd come out) to my car, got in, and left. The ad is still on indeed complete with misspellings and grammar errors. I wish them the best. Try this little store out! I live near by and I occasionally get some of my fruits and vegetables from here. The parking is readily available and the staff, although a bit too rough on the accents, will always be helpful! The food they have here is delicious and definitely touches the European side of my stomach and the fruits are really fresh. It's a little bit too pricey in regards to some of the items they provide, but well worth it, especially if you want to try something fresh and different than Trader Joe's. I love this place, and it takes care of all my Russian food needs. Note: I'm Russian, and I've been going to this small neighborhood Russian market for almost the last 30 years. Occasionally the staff are rude, but for the most part, they take good care of me. The pros: they carry freshly-baked German bread, delicious desserts and candy, low-cost produce, canned pickled vegetables and spreads, fermented dairy products, deli meats, teas, buckwheat, and cooked foods. I love watching the lady who makes fresh crepes behind the prepared foods section! If I don't have time to cook, I know I can always pick up some homemade food here. The cons: there are no ingredients listed on any of the prepared food. I'd love to know what they're putting in it. Not recommended for anyone with food allergies or sensitivities. As a Russian speaker and a long-time loyal customer, I realize my experience may not be everyone else's.
