Bazille was my favorite restaurant in the valley for a long time. They served a lot of my favorite things and made them the best of everyone around. Because of this I, I decided to take my mom there for Mother's Day. We were both really excited i go and ready to order all of our favorite dishes. When we sat down, we noticed that they changed their whole menu, taking quite a few of the great dishes off of the menu. We ordered the stuff that they still had, including the crab Mac n Cheese and the bread pudding. When the Mac and cheese came, it was extremely disappointing. It is no longer cheesy and creamy and is instead dry, oily macaroni noodles with slices of red pepper inside. It used to be the beat Mac and cheese around, but now it's just sad. After we finished our meals, we got the bread pudding. The waitress told us that the serving size is much smaller now, so we got two of them. When they came out, it was a small thin sliver with the sauce and raspberries. They no longer put the whipped cream on it. The bread pudding itself is now mushy, probably because of it being so thin and soaked with the sauce. Overall, it used to be delicious, but with the new menu and changed items they have ruined themselves. I'm disappointed that my favorite no longer exists. read more

I have to start off by saying this might be the best place in the valley for happy hour. No well drink nonsense here, $6 new Amsterdam cocktails and 5$ appetizers, that alone makes this place the best to me! To add to the greatness, the food here is amazing. Fresh delicious and not to pricey, even for Nordstrom. It seems like a strange choice for a bar setting but after shopping it is glorious. Happy hour ends at 6:30, another huge plus! I've been coming Nordstrom Cafe from way back when their coffee was only 25 cents! Yeah, that was the time the best and cheapest coffee you can get at Nordstrom cafe. There was Bistro time, now it's Bazille. It's the same place on the third story in Nordstrom Topanga. The difference is you can order alcohol at Bazille. Actually there are a few places to have beer at the Topanga mall now. My usual order at Bazille is Nicoise salad with salmon. It's always a good choice. Lots of veges with protein. Nothing really changed here much during many years I am coming. Mahogany color, attentive wait personal, and all, maybe the price..The price went up quite a bit. My salad was $16.95. They even have poke stuffs. I might try poke next time. Good place to sit down and have a good food with shopping bags next to you. Nordstrom prides itself on its customer service. Bazille is no exception. Every time my wife and I eat here, the service is excellent. The quality of food here is very high. If you didn't know it was in Nordstrom, you would think you were in a high end restaurant. The kitchen is completely open and visible from the dining area so you can watch a well oiled machine put together the masterful dishes. Steak frites are just like Paris. I've attached a picture of the shrimp and asparagus risotto. Shrimp was perfectly grilled as was the asparagus. The star of the show and the main reason I come back is the Bread Pudding. It's like French toast sitting on a plate of condensed milk covered in white chocolate shavings accompanied by whipped cream and raspberries. IT IS TO DIE FOR! Full bar with yummy cocktails (the daddy day care one is so good). i love to start with crab bisque: very creamy with just the right hint of crab and a touch of brightness/acidity. She answered all of the questions we had. Main Dishes: Petite Filet Minion (special): It was a 7oz filet served with mashed potatoes, literally mashed (picture below) that was really well seasoned and had a crispy skin. Also came with other vegetables that were well seasoned. The filet itself was very tender and tasty. The restaurant that was here before was much better... The quality of everything we ate was average. It was really dead the evening we were ate there but they still seemed to be staffed well. Despite being staffed well it still took a while to get any extras we asked for... ie ranch dressing, extra bread, a straw. Our waiter kept forgetting stuff, maybe he was new? Nothing we ordered hit the spot. It is conveniently located because it's on the 3rd level of Nordstrom. 3.5 I think Nordstrom's Cafe/Bazille needs a menu refresh. I'm bummed you can't get the tomato basil soup daily. I'm tired of the same offerings. I wish they'd change it up. Had lunch here with the family. Pretty solid place overall (3.5 stars rounded up to 4). It's tucked away on the 3rd floor of Nordstrom, which I still don't really quite understand lol. The bread was really good! I normally don't make note of the bread but theirs was on point! I also had the salmon and risotto. Good portions and pretty delicious, but it was a tad oily. We also had the bread pudding for dessert. The bread pudding itself was delicious, albeit a smudge burnt (I think we got the burnt edge that time lol). The sauce around it was a little too sweet, though. It was surrounded in like this condensed milk + white chocolate sauce. The raspberries and the raspberry sauce definitely helped cut the sweetness. So glad I decided to stop in for a late lunch after a grueling shopping day at Nordie's :-). The French Onion soup was devine and almost too beautiful to eat (see my pic below). I was pleased with the large selection of entree salads but decided to go with my fave classic, the Caesar Salad. They let me add shrimp (perfectly cooked) instead of chicken which I always appreciate. My only suggestion would be a little less dressing; my salad was swimming in it. Easily forgiven, though because I loved the dressing. My server, Lauren, was a sweetheart and took excellent care of me, thinking of the little things before I even had the need. I didn't want to eat in the large uber-non private cafeteria and decided to venture out to Nordstroms and check out Bazille. I ordered the Vine Street, ehhum 2 of them, the crisis vodka with muddled mint and a splash of prosecco was a perfect after-a-long-work-week drink. I orders 2; Enuff said. The meal however was eclectic; I'm not sure why there were a million undiagnosed flavours in the dish; savory, sweet, bitter. It was all over the place. There clearly was no vision in this dish. Perhaps try another when you're here. Overall, fantastic service, great refreshing drinks, but my meal was your typical Midwestern don't be impressed, meal. I'll try something new when I come back. It doesn't ever feel like you're inside the department store and offers a gorgeous dining room area filled with booths and an open kitchen. The service here is wonderful too. Everyone is extremely friendly and will give you their true opinions of the food options on the menu. My absolute FAVORITE dish here is the Cilantro Lime Shrimp salad! I'm generally not a cilantro fan but the vinaigrette is so delicious and the shrimp is flavorful! Grilled to perfection. It's a good sized portion, which makes me feel better about spending $15 on a salad. I absolutely recommend this salad! Also, the bistro fries are to die for! They are the skinnier type of fries served with a yummy dip (made from olives). The dip is creamy and refreshing. So good! As for dessert, the bread pudding is fantastic. It's always a big risk eating at a restaurant located inside a mall, let alone a department store. But against all odds, this place manages to deliver. I tried one of the best drinks I've had in the area here. "The Billionaire" is what they called it. A spritz of absinthe. Whiskey and grenadine shaken. Lemon slice on top. Highly recommended for something fresh and well balanced. Shrimp linguine? Also balanced and quite savory without too much butter and tomato taking over and just enough shrimp to justify the cost. One should mention the decor... but I won't. Because there's nothing to mention. It's dated as hell, but really now, who cares when the drinks and food are this good? Now, it feels like many new restaurants have moved towards the casual dining experience with ambitious menus. Exhibit A: Bazille, where dishes like the (excellent) hummus and Shrimp Linguini and a much-Instagrammed chocolate dessert are giving local joints a run for their money. And, rightfully so. Bazille has the charm of a timeless tavern; it feels as warm as the sun streaming through the back side windows. What everyone's really here for is the Niçoise Salad with Wild Salmon: herb and dijon roasted salmon oiled piled atop organic greens, french green beans, kalamata olives, petite tomatoes, red onion, potatoes, egg, capers, dijon balsamic vinaigrette. Seating is ample. Service is top notch. The kitchen is also happy to accommodate vegetarians. The plates aren't small (but not Cheesecake Factory-sized), the vibe is seasonal, and the wines will duly impress. The manager eventually came over to comp our food but his explanations were lack luster. How can say you washed the lettuce yet a huge bug is still found??!! I love Nordstrom restaurants: Never crowded, great service, tasty food. I really like their flat iron steak frites dish as well as the cilantro lime shrimp salad but one night I was in the mood for pizza so I got their pepperoni pizza. The waiter came over and apologized, told us they had burnt the pizza and was making another one right away. It satisfied my craving for pizza but I like mine more cheesy and saucy with a thicker crust so next time I'll stick to the beef or shrimp. Would give this place 3 1/2 stars if I could. It's located upstairs inside of Nordstrom. I'm surprised that i've never seen this place before. It's pretty dark inside the restaurant making it look like a steakhouse but this is mostly a lunch place as I don't see many selections for breakfast or dinner here. Lots of soups, sandwiches and salads though. Really enjoyed their French onion soup and their prime rib dip sandwich. If you want something on the lighter side their shrimp salad is great.
