Two of us were seated at a booth near a window close to the open kitchen (looks really good)... our server was pretty awesome... I don't remember his name but he was very professional. Food: my wife ordered the French onion soup . She wasn't a big fan of the soup because of what she described as too much Worcestershire in the soup. I tried it and absolutely loved it! We ordered the deviled eggs and I thought that those 4 eggs were insanely good! Like really good. I read another yelp review (forgot name of user - sorry) that said best deviled eggs in the valley - I gotta tell you, I haven't had better yet (but then again, I don't eat a lot of deviled eggs)! My wife thought the eggs were good but not the best she's ever had. I ordered the salmon on risotto special! It had a lemon sauced risotto that really compliments the salmon! Delicious!!! After reading all the reviews, I had to try this place! First off, I did not know it's LOCATED INSIDE OF NORDSTORM ON THE THIRD FLOOR. But location doesn't matter when the food is good :) I ordered the Flat Iron Steak Frites and my husband got the Shrimp Chitarra Pasta. My steak was medium well and it was absolutely delicious! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! My husband loved his pasta as well, I didn't try it because I hate shrimp lol Service is fast, our waitress was very friendly and helpful and checked on us frequently. I've been coming to Bazile's at the Topanga Mall for years now and they never dissapoint me , today went for lunch with my wife and l ordered the beef sandwich , l tell you it was just amazing , very delicious came with a choice of salad or fries and l am not a salad guy so l ordered fries, also aioli sauce was served and the nice and friendy waitress ( think her name was Bridget ) brought me extra olive oil with a olive spread and also this was delish ..thanks to the chef for making our lunch super enjoyable and to Bridget for being so nice ! read more

Where do you go to treat yourself to an upscale lunch? Believe it or not, there is this hidden gem of a restaurant on the top floor of Nordstrom! On a side note, I saw Bobby Brown once as I was leaving here, but I digress... Now, on to the food: CRAB, MANGO, AND AVOCADO SALAD = my go-to dish! So fresh, light, and tasty! The ingredients work together so well. This used to be offered as the CRAB STACK which was comprised of the same ingredients, but more artfully presented as a little tower. CRAB BISQUE = creamy and flavorful! A little cup provides just enough decadence without overpowering the rest of your meal. CRISP CALAMARI = light batter, fresh out of the fryer PAN SEARED CHICKEN = the only dish that has ever disappointed me here. It was ridiculously over-cooked; dry as leather. CILANTRO LIME SHRIMP SALAD = yet another light and tasty offering. Lots of flavor with little guilt. Shrimp always perfectly cooked. BAZILLE BURGER = patty arrived according to requested temperature. Fries were ok. Enjoyed the side of aioli for dipping. COMPLIMENTARY CHOCOLATE = individually wrapped chocolate sticks are provided with your bill. I love these things and always hope others in my party don't want theirs. It's a small sweet treat which provides just a little extra special something to finish off a great meal. I have been coming to Bazille since it first opened and it's been my go to for a weekend lunch. The decor is beautiful, the menu is simple but but not limited and the service/quality is fantastic! I love the kalamata aioli, omg I dip everything in that! I also bought one of the Nordstrom cookbooks which has this aioli recipe! The soups are wonderful, there is always a different soup of the day along with the usual French onion and crab bisque. The bar is nice, you can enjoy a drink or quiet meal. The cocktail list has changed over the years but if you ask nicely, the bartenders can make you whatever you want. An old favorite of mine is the lavender lemon martini (which can be requested) The only caveat is that the half booths are super close together so expect to have lunch with strangers! Do not eat here if you can't sit in the first half of the restaurant. It has a large open kitchen in the back and clattering of dishes is deafening. Customers all around complained, server said he spoke to the workers but then it only got louder. I think the many complaints make them defiant. It's a ridiculous set up for an otherwise nice restaurant, sounds like a school cafeteria. It had been ages since I left the house for a good strong day of shopping & I guess I had forgotten just how much endurance a shopping spree requires. I was hustle & bustle & I even came up w/ a good idea or two for what to get people for this coming holiday season that is creeping up on us like one of those wallflowers at the cocktail lounge. I got some uber cute winter clothes & accessories at Nordstoms & it was seriously like a bit of kismet. I looked up while shopping thinking to myself, GOD PLEASE BRING ME FOOD. Just then what should I see? No not Santa Clause, but a waiter. & he seemed to be walking w/ a mission. He was clean so he was clearly headed to not from work. But in the store?!? That's when the COVID fog lifted & I remember just what shopping used to be like. I discretely tailed this strapping middle-aged man who I was sure would lead me to my lunch of destiny. For some reason, I imagined that to get to the restaurant I couldn't let him be aware of my presence. Slinking between racks & nonchalantly w/out ever being noticed until we/ I arrived at the door of something called BAZILE. Well, he may have noticed me briefly when I tripped over a mannequin's foot & it was a domino effect if you get my drift. The mannequin fell knocking over a shoe display & then the sign hit a rack of the loudest merch&ise in the store. He turned & looked at me & smiled. I was so mortified I just shook my head & said it wasn't me & pointed at the child. His mother immediately scolded him, "I can't take you anywhere w/out embarrassing me" I think it caused a small & mildly troubling flashback for both of us; we both cringed I could tell we were imagining that was us & she was our mother. I needed to see my therapist but lunch first all else can wait. Except for those shoe omg to die for. I squealed a little bit & let the beautiful footwear wash over me I finished my purchase & ended up having to ask the shopkeeper who was very helpful. She walked me over & said enjoy your lunch I will come to check on you later to make sure you don't knock over any tables. I knew it she had seen everything. I ordered a table for one plus 7, isn't 8 great? w/ my shopping satchels, we were even quad-pair. All he said was "DEEEEAAAD" I was like what? I don't follow. What is dead? He turned & continued. I was worried the service would be a nightmare because it was lunchtime, but I must say I was so very surprised. I learned the strapping lad's name; well the name he told me. Mario. It sounded so exotic & he looked mostly normal & was so polite & well-mannered. I asked are you from Brazil? He said Bazile I told him no silly I can see I don't need a blind menu, I just like to wear my sunglasses it keeps me incognito. & he said it again. DEAD. No dear I am quite alive. He said if you want to stay incognito maybe I would suggest not knocking down half the store & then blaming it on a poor kid. Oh, he is not poor I responded, did you see that Cartier watch his mother was wearing & those shoes Jimmy Choo, last season, but still priceless? He went to work telling me about the specials. This is something I like to do I discuss the specials w/ the waiter just until they are ready to kill me by asking every question. Then I say, I will start w/ water & some croutons, please. He brought back a lovely glass & set down a plate w/ some croutons. He said some soup or salad would go great w/ those. I said yes I would but just a small side to start, but no croutons, please. Then he brought my salad w/ lemon & vinegar which I don't recall ordering but is exactly how I like it. He was not even phased by my little crouton trick. So I ordered my appetizer the crisp calamari I was feeling quite peckish & wanted to explore the ocean & land today. The calamari was quite good, however, I prefer it to have a little less oil. Not good for the waistline & I am trying to maintain a couture body. I ate about half the calamari & told him, the waiter boy that he could enjoy the rest of it for his lunch if he wanted it. He smiled & said dead. I told him to bring me what you drink w/ my steak & cauliflower mac & cheese. He returned w/ a Cherry Coke. I was utterly confused at this point & I said, well I am sure coke is quite good w/ a few pours of Jack, but I meant liqueur darling. It has been an exhausting day shopping I have already been at it for nearly two hours when I happened upon you & lucky for both of us I did. The restaurant was very charming & I was a bit past lunch but it only lingered close to full & never had a wait. I was shocked because the food was particularly good, as most food is when you are starving. I had warned him I grew up on a cattle ranch & knew good steak. He said DEAD, & no problem his roomie also grew up on a ranch too so he was confident they could get it right. They certainly nailed the steak, even if the calamari wasn't the best I have ever had. Bazille is such a little hidden gem inside of Nordstrom at Westfield Topanga. So many things to love! 1. Scotty is the sweetest most personable bartender ever. He always greets us like family and knows our order. He makes great conversation and he is very attentive. 2. The food is yummyyyy. I love the burrata, the chicken and rice soup and the simple salad. They also have plenty of selection on the happy hour menu. 3. I enjoy their wine selection. Lots of great wines to choose from depending on my mood. Went to lunch at Bazille. One of our favorite places to eat. Always enjoy the food and service there. And they have very comfortable booths. We ordered several things yesterday. Had their crab, avocado, and mango salad. It was excellent. Their salads are definitely a strong point with a wide selection of different dressings. We also had French onion soup which also was great. The broth is so flavorful and not too salty. Plenty of cheese on top. Lastly, we ordered the prime French dip. We were disappointed. I had gotten it several years ago and loved it, but this time the roast beef was terrible. It was way overcooked, dry, tough and salty with zero flavor. Sort of reminded me of beef jerky! Friendly staff and surprisingly, they remember us even though we don't come in too often. I find myself coming here even if it's more expensive. CPK and Cheesecake is a zoo at the bar usually. Definitely the hidden jewel of Topanga Mall! Love, love, love this restaurant! The customer service is excellent (especially the servers!) which is a rarity these days. I definitely appreciate their kindness and friendly attitudes! My favorites include: 1) Nordstrom Burger with French Fries - Juicy burger with delicious toppings. Skinny fries with yummy olive aoli. 2) Crisp Calamari - Just the right amount of breading and crispiness. A must-get! 3) Kung Pao Brussel Sprouts - A sleeper hit. Hidden gem inside Topanga Westfield! I frequent Bazille (let's just say I come to Nordstrom too often :D), I crave their salads and soups all the time. My all time favorite is their Salmon Nicoise Salad. So good! They have special soups each day, Chicken pot pie is my favorite. Go for a French soup when it gets chilly out. It'll warm your soul. My husband's favs are the sandwiches and burgers. The fries are delicious! Kids meal are still a hit with my littles. Their mac n cheese beats any. All the dishes are freshly made when ordered and you can see the chefs/cooks hard at works right in front of your eyes. Service is superb! All the servers have been so well trained and attentive. I'm a fan of their open kitchen and nicely remodeled interior on the 3rd floor of Nordstrom. Now on to the food :) We ordered the soup of the day (clam chowder) and fried calamari to start. The corn chowder was not the classic and creamy yellowish corn chowder I'm used to. The chowder had tomatoes, peppers, and other spices giving it a slight kick I wasn't used to. I'll give it a 7/10 for uniqueness but I wouldn't order it again. The fried calamari was the best! It comes with this lemongrass sweet chili dipping sauce which was the perfect complement to the perfectly fried goodness! Much better than the typical marinara sauce that accompanies fried calamari. Main dishes ordered were the flat iron steak frites ($23) and the chicken & angel hair pasta ($17). The steak was surprisingly tender and the arugula salad complemented the steak well. The fries were a bit soggy but the garlic and onion seasoning was delish! I didn't like the angel hair pasta mainly because the pasta wasn't al dente and the tomato sauce overwhelmed the dish. This is actually my first visit here since the remodel and name change and I'm already impressed by the overall transformation. Located on the 3rd floor of Nordstroms Topanga Plaza in Canoga Park, this restaurant serves up some delicious food that is just steps away when shopping inside Nordstroms. In fact I have a huge liking for Nordstroms restaurants in general and this place in particular just gave it more bonus points. This particular restaurant is more formal sit down vs its usual cafeteria style when ordering. They have a good selection of food on their menu that are reasonably priced and have a full bar with a cocktail menu that will surely satisfy anyones thirst when craving for some libations. I came here just after the lunch hour rush and I was seated right away. I was also approached immediately by the server soon after which is always a plus. I opted for the Crab Stack (14.75) which is lumps of fresh Crab,mango,avocado with a side of bread crisps~ very light and flavorful yet satisfying. The pan seared chicken Paillard topped with fresh arugula (13.95)~ pounded chicken made to perfection. This salad was simple but full of flavor and it surely hit the spot. Of course you cannot leave any of the Nordstroms restaurant without ordering desserts. There are a few selections of desserts on the menu but will definitely satisfy anyones sweet tooth. Creme Brulee (6.25) was the choice and you can never go wrong when ordering this. Surprisingly one of my favorite restaurants as of today! Who would have known a restaurant tucked away in a clothing store would be so good... The food was excellent, the customer service was good, (a little too attentive), for I couldn't enjoy my meal without the waiter coming by every 2 minutes! The restaurants' interior/ambience could use a lift, as well as the menu. I ate one of the best pastas I have ever had from here: Shrimp Linguine with spicy tomato sauce. The dining area well kept, stylish yet modern. Now the food. The bread was so warm and fresh. Suggestion forget the butter and slather the Kalamata Olive Aioli on it, yum! We had Herbed French fries with Kalamata Olive Aioli. The presentation of the fries was aesthetically pleasing. The Cilantro Lime Shrimp Salad did the taste buds good with just enough shrimp. The lime was not at all over powering. The Warm Asian Glazed Chicken Salad had warm chicken and juicy, cold mandarin oranges with just the right amount of dressing. All this without make the salad soggy. How do you do that!?!? Now let's go back to Lauren. We were having a hard time figuring out what to drink. She asked us our flavoring preferences and made suggestions. We asked her to just surprise us. She made a delicious Raspberry Martini with Chambord. I absolutely LOVE Bazille! It's probably my favorite place to get food in the entirety of the Topanga Mall (yes, it's even better than the Neiman Marcus Cafe). It's truly the perfect lunch spot. To those who haven't been or don't know: Bazille is simply the slightly remodeled Nordstrom Bistro, located at the top floor of Nordstrom by Brass Plum. Before, it was much more casual (you paid up front, but the food was brought out to you) and the menu was slightly more limited. Now it's like a regular sit-down restaurant - you sit, order from a menu, get your food, and get the check. They also added certain appetizers and entrees the former restaurant didn't have. Onto the food: I truly haven't been disappointed by anything I've tried here, and I've tried a good amount of the menu. My personal favorite will always be the cilantro lime shrimp salad. It's light and refreshing, but still perfectly hearty. I also really love their calamari, their crab bisque, their tuna tartare, and their French onion soup (although I'd recommend ordering that one as a meal - it's delicious, but incredibly filling!). The food here is great - even my picky mother enjoys it, which is saying a lot. To sum it up: service is speedy and efficient, and the environment is very clean. And the price is very reasonable for the great quality of the food. If you want a nicer, non-food-court meal option in the mall, this is your spot! read more
