I've been to other bb.q locations on the mainland before so I had high expectations for this one in Aiea and it did not disappoint! the chicken was crispy and flavorful, super fresh, and the restaurant was clean. we placed a takeout order and it took a while to prepare, but it was worth the wait. they also have a selection of korean soju and sodas to choose from. parking can be hard since they share a lot with the Alley. best bet is to order takeout in advance and go with 2 people so one person can just run in to pick up lol. we'll definitely be back for that korean fried chicken craving! read more

Always excited for wings for dinner! Super easy online ordering system, they'll even text updates! Unfortunately, the Galbi and Soy half half wings we got were not good. Aside from some pieces being undercooked, the taste and texture were unappetizing. Soy wings were hard and Galbi flavor was difficult to eat. I love BBQ Chicken. I usually go to their Kahala location but when I'm around Aiea, I would get chicken there a few times. BBQ Chicken Aiea is located in Aiea Shopping Center near Aiea Bowl. My go-to order would be half wings secret sauced with the sauce on the side. I also ordered the works ddeokbokki. Other times I would order wings plate full with macaroni salad. Works ddeokbokki: I love BBQ ddeokbokki. However, at this location the sauce was very scarce. There was hardly any sauce. The ramen noodles were also dry and hard. Full wings plate: I chose the golden fried which has 6 wings. I also chose the macaroni salad which was light and pretty good. The rice was very good. Chicken was excellent as always. It came out hot and fresh. Mandoo: I also ordered a side of mandoo which include 5 pieces. The mandoo were delicious. Overall, whenever I'm in Aiea, I would get BBQ chicken. I was kind of skeptical to try Aiea location just because I had something good going at the other location and I didn't want to get disappointed. We took a chance here and came on a Sunday for lunch. I am so glad we took a chance only because the chicken wings are even fresher if you could believe that and eating area is spanking clean. Then the GPS didn't lead us to the location at #303 we had to walk a ways to find it up some steps. Anyway, we ordered Honey Garlic, Secret Spicy & Black Pepper wings with fries all for about $63. It was good but definitely not worth $63! I'm not sure if there are Wingstops in HI but Wingstop has better flavors AND oddly if you ask for the chicken fried hard it's crunchier than the chicken we had at bb.q Chicken. I was expecting the crunchiest chicken I've ever had and was really disappointed that it wasn't. The Honey Garlic was the only flavor that had a significant crunch. I've been avoiding these Korean chicken wings restaurants because I thought that the prices are way too high for chicken wings. I guess I am having a hard time accepting the higher food prices due to the inflation. Well, I figured that if I took home a half order of wings for $18 that is still cheap to feed my wife and I. I love wings and so I ordered a half order of secret sauced wings. They are extremely busy at dinner time. I just drove down to order because nobody was answering their phone. I asked if I could mix two different types of wings in a half order but they said no so I ordered the secret saved because it was one of the popular wings and it wasn't too spicy. I also ordered a coleslaw to spend $20nand get a free apple pie. When I arrived home I wanted to dine right away because I don't like soggy wings. One bite and it was like OMG, this is freakin delicious. Perfect coating that soaks up that delicious sauce and still retain a nice crunch. This place is a little over a mile from my house so I'm always passing it on my way to town. I saw their ad on Facebook "Buy one Honey Garlic Chicken Bowl for $8.99 and get one 50% off" ending today so thought this was a good time to try it. For the amount of food we got which includes 3 pieces of chicken, 2 thin pieces of takuan (pickled radish) with furikake on rice for each bowl, regular price of almost $19 (tax included) for both bowls would've been pricey. With this special, a little over $14 was the cost which I thought was a good price. As for the Honey Garlic Chicken, it tasted more like sweet chili sauce. We both thought the chicken was good but it was missing the garlic taste. We don't think we'd order this again BUT I know we'll be back! I looked over the menu while waiting and we would like to try their "Golden Fried Chicken" and the "Secret Sauced Chicken" sandwiches with the add-on fries and drink for $3 more. This place is located on the third level of Aiea Shopping Center between Medical Center Pharmacy and Aiea Bowl/The Alley. TLDR; get the Red Chak Chak flavor! This is our second time trying Bb.q Chicken. The first time I didn't get any photos because it was so good that we ate it all before I could haha. We originally were told by our friends in Minnesota about it who recently got one in their area and I saw that we have it here on the island too. My partner is also a fried chicken addict and is always on the hunt for the best fried chicken and I think this is currently both his and I's new favorite! We've tried the Red Chak Chak, Soy Garlic, Mala, and Golden Fried Hot. I got the boneless and my partner got the wings. These are the best boneless I've ever tried because they actually use dark meat instead of white meat! The Red Chak Chak is our absolute favorite. So much so that we asked for a side of the power the second time and they gave a decent size side cup (not the small sauce cups). I think this is a new flavor only sold here in Hawaii since my friends in Minnesota know they don't have that flavor there, so I hope they don't get rid of it. Highly recommend if you love spice! Our second favorite was Mala. I'd also like to note that they put the perfect amount of sauce on the chicken and don't douse it like some places do. Thirdly was the soy garlic and golden fried spicy. I've never had a soy garlic where the garlic where you could actually taste the garlic. This one is very garlic forward which I love! The Golden Fried Spicy my partner loved (me not as much because I love extra flavors) because he loves a plain fried chicken. Don't be fooled by the BBQ at the beginning of the name. This is not barbeque chicken joint. Those letters stand for Best of the Best Quality...and by all means yes they do stand up to their name. This has become my new favorite Korean fried chicken (KFC) restaurant. First off, let me start by saying that I'm not usually big on fried chicken and I don't like bones in meat. But Korean fried chicken is so much better than the usual fried chicken you find in America. Good KFC should be crunchy on the outside and have juicy meat on the inside. I had been hearing about this restaurant from when they first opened in Kahala, but just had never made my way over to them. It also took me a minute to get to this new location in Aiea (next to Aiea bowl) and man am I sad that it took me this long to get there! We ordered the honey garlic boneless chicken and the cheesling fries. Both were top notch! The honey garlic boneless chicken was crunchy on the outside with super moist meat on the inside. You get the best of both worlds! It is drenched in honey garlic sauce, which you don't want to waste. Make sure to swipe off any sauce you lost on the bottom of the box. The cheesling fries has a cheese powder on top and it is so tasty. Fries are made well, too. They gave us hand wipes. I thought that was so nice of them to do because your hands do get messy and sticky...especially if you're getting the chicken in one of the sauces because it can get sticky. You can order wings or boneless that come in original fried form or you can get it with different sauces. You can even order them in a plate lunch form that comes with rice, mandoo (2 pcs) and coleslaw or macaroni salad. For $2 more you can upgrade to fries instead of rice or make it a meal and add $2 more for a fountain drink. They also sell chicken sandwiches and even tteok booki. I also saw a sign that for a limited time they have honey garlic boneless bowls that come with 3 pieces of honey garlic boneless chicken, 2 scoops of rice and 2 pieces of takuan. And what really caught my eye was the golden chicken curry plate. Golden fried boneless chicken, 1 piece of mandoo, choice of coleslaw or mac salad with warm and golden curry. Sounds delish! Pro tip: Your order is going to take at least 20 minutes because they make it fresh. So either be prepared to wait there for your order or call it in ahead of time. I chose to call it in before I went down and it was ready when I got there. I highly recommend eating there because the quality won't be as good once you take it home. There's a vent in the top of the box for the chicken to keep it from getting soggy so fast, but still I wouldn't imagine it would be the same as eating it right away. Chicken pieces seemed smaller but they were assisted in appearance by breading. They offer plates, utensils and gloves for use but they don't really tell you that unless you eat inside. We know it's a chain but they could try to improve customer service for repeat customers. For starters, we would recommend that staff attempt to act more friendly and appreciative to customers.
