Super Bowl Sunday main eats were ordered from here and the whole family was happy with what we chose;)! Ordered by phone the day prior, and just gave them my phone number as usual (it's how they identify you when you pick up, with no worries about duplicate or misspelled names.). Every time I've ordered in advance, our order has always been packed neatly and ready in a box for takeout. (My brother had brought a box just in case, and smoothly offered it to their staff for someone else's future order.) The restaurant has several tables for dining in, and markings on the floor for those waiting in line. It's brightly lit and clean as well. I appreciate their staff, food, service, and generous servings. They make us look so good with our potluck contributions! So what did we order? Half chicken katsu, half chicken wings, a small platter ($45 for the small pan, but picture a much loaded tray) - it's a great value deal! It was the same order our cousins loved when we brought it on Christmas Day (they especially love the wings, but we love the katsu-so this year we asked for half-half instead of all katsu, and they were so happy, ha ha!) Oh, and they give you a nice big container of yummy katsu sauce;)! I like their panko and cooking method, as whatever they do, the chicken is nice and crisp, and tasty - with, or without the sauce, actually. First time that I actually tried the wings, as I'm not a wing person. (I didn't even try it at Christmas, lol.). But, it was nice and crisp, lightly seasoned, and the wings had lots of meat on them. Easy finger food, and they were not dripping in oil, either, which I appreciated! Also ordered (for the first time) a small platter of chicken chow mein (a little over $30?). It was based on a good recommendation by an admittedly biased family member of the owners, and we were pleasantly surprised! The small pan was covered in wrap and then foil, because the mound of noodles was seriously kinda big! My brother was like, quick, go tell mom to come look before we open it (as she's picky, so it's hard to impress her). It was filled with lots of veggies (sliced carrots, cabbage, onions, etc) and bbq chicken pieces, tossed with great flavor (I want to say it was a nice sauce, but this wasn't a wet noodle dish.). My dad added Chinese mustard soy sauce, but my mom and I thought it was perfect the way it was. Oh, don't laugh, we're only a family of four, so yes, we ate two meals - lunch and dinner - and still packed a ton of leftovers! As we watched the game, we commented to each other what great choices we had made. (We also had sushi trays and other treats, and of course, chips, and my brother's dip. My brother said we may not have had a favorite team to cheer on today, but it was a great excuse for a party, ha ha!) I know we're doing a repeat for our next occasion, for sure! We'll gradually try some of their other foods, and it's farther away than we'd like to drive (I know, it's not that far, but we live on the other side, ok?). My brother agrees it's worth the drive - it's across Aloha Stadium and literally in the same spot as Ice Palace; and we saw quite the line at the Taco Bell drive through when we were looking for parking;). He also compared it to the cost and serving size of what we ordered on New Year's, from a restaurant much closer to where we live. Hands down, it was not even a close comparison, his emphasis added. Are we spoiled by the fancy burgers everywhere? You know we are. So it's nice to get an old-time burger for $5 - $9 (the double). Simple but not boring. Check out the beef patty, you'll find some tiny bits of onion cooked into the beef. It's like they cooked the patty on a layer of onions. IYKYK. Go there for the hamburger. You might complain about how plain it is, but you won't stop eating it. If you've never had a chocolate malt before, give it a try. It's too pricy, so I won't get it the next time. read more

We continually visit this place at least once a week. The food is plentiful and delicious. They've been around forever and that's saying something. The service and great and the family works hard to put out quality food for a very reasonable price. The place is clean and has a down stairs and upstairs if needed for overflow customers. 11/08/24 Went to pick up late lunch & dinner for hubby & stopped in just before 2PM, Friday. We've come to this place off and on over the yrs to get our BBQ fix since this place is close to the house. There was plenty of available parking. Sometimes the parking lot gets so full from the surrounding food places & the ice skating rink. The restaurant was empty, no line. Tables & floors were clean. There was a woman behind the counter & a couple of cooks in the back. They have such a huge, extensive menu that it takes time to go thru it all. They have several specials posted under the main menu board as well as at the front counter. Brown rice is available. They offer so many different combos that it is hard to choose & mini plates are also available on some of the entrees. i ended up ordering 2 sandwiches and 2 plates. Teri pork sandwich - it was ok, average tasting - 2 thin slices of BBQ pork on a hamburger bun slathered with mayo with a wilted piece of lettuce. Chicken burger - good sized BBQ chicken thigh skinless on a hamburger bun, mayo, & wilted piece of lettuce. Hubby liked it. It had good flavor & tasty. BBQ chicken/teri beef combo plate with mac salad toss salad, no rice. Quantity was great. 2 large pieces of boneless/skinless chicken. Same chicken as in the sandwich - tasty & good flavor. Teri beef - good portion. I wanted to really like this like the chicken but I did not care for it. It was marinated but not long enough & the taste of it was very salty. Mac salad was ok, but way too much mayo. Toss salad with just iceberg letter & a few tomato wedges. The salad was on the bottom of the plate covered by the hot chicken & beef, thus making the salad soggy. Chicken katsu/BBQ rib special for hubby, all mac. Huge quantity of chicken katsu. Disappointed that it only came with 4 small ribs. Each rib measured about 1 1/2" long. Mac salad covered the bottom of the plate topped by the hot entrees, making it looks pretty messy. Ribs were ok but the katsu was hard to eat, lot of it was overcooked & dried out. We ended up tossing what was left of the katsu. Even though I was the only customer at the time of ordering, my order still took 10 - 15 minutes. While I waited, several people came in to pick up catered orders. They seem to do a good business with those. No wonder my food was taking longer than expected, they were cooking for these big orders. It's definitely not fast food if you are in a hurry. Overall, we thought their BBQ was average, nothing stood out that made it special. But they do have a huge menu & lots of combos, good quantity of food for a reasonable price. read more

I haven't been here in a long time and I needed lunch and was craving some chicken katsu. I ended up wanting both chicken katsu and cold ginger chicken and found out i can get a mixed combo for $16. It was ready in just a few minutes which is great since I needed to take it to go and was in a hurry. The portions were huge! The chicken katsu was crispy yet juicy and the sauce is really good! The cold ginger chicken had generous amounts of ginger and onions and was so good with the mac salad and rice. I have enough food for 2 more meals! At $8.50 the mini plate is a great deal and consists of a scoop of white rice and a scoop of macaroni salad, the rice was quite mushy...bleh and the salad was okay it came with tow pieces of skinless chicken which I was quite impressed and was coated with what looks similar with the sauce they use in the ribs...kinda bland and didn't care for it. I miss the outing with my fellow yelpers on a State holiday 2024. Paul C. said he wanted to try their chicken wings. Well since I had a pick up at target salt lake we decided to go and try um. I ordered the fried chicken wings plate maybe I ordered wrong because it came with 2 scoops rice Mac salad and the wings. ‍ My husband had the cheeseburger and chocolate malt. I wanted French fries but it didn't come with enough salt on it just like crinkle type fries which I always get from someplace else. Lol. The cheeseburger was ok but the buns wasn't soft it was dry. The wings were ok to me not enough salt inside the chicken before they deep fry um. It was crispy and serve very hot. ***3.5 STARS*** A few months ago, some of my foodie friends decided to try new places we've never been to on a State holiday and had Stadium Giant Malts and BBQ (SGM) bookmarked. Prior to coming to here, we were discussing of places that interested us and for me, it was Ramfis B., who would post pics of the chicken wings from here that would make my mouth water. After meeting up earlier in the morning for coffee and a lite snack, we parted ways and met a few hours later for lunch at SGM. SGM, which serves local style plate lunches, burgers and some Chinese food options. They took over the space that was previously occupied by Bob's BBQ way back in 2010 (?). We arrived at the agreed 12pm time and had the darnest challenging time looking for a parking stall. SGM is located in Stadium Mall that is occupied with multiple businesses so I had to circle the mall multiple times before I was able to score a stall. Upon entering SGM, luckily there was an empty booth that we secured as the restaurant was packed. A handful of patrons were already sitting down eating and had quite a few people standing as they waited for their carryout orders. I had omakase reservations later that day for an early dinner so I strategically planned my food order: side order of fried chicken wings. Had to pass on the carbs that you get in a plate lunch to save precious stomach space for sushi later that day. We stood in line to place our order and then waited patiently for our food. THE VERDICT: The fried chicken wings were indeed delicious. Made to order, 10 flats were lightly breaded with a pleasant, exterior crust that had a great crunch. Wings were made to order so they were piping hot, the way I like to eat my food. However, they were slightly heavily seasoned to my taste so I found myself craving for some rice, which I didn't have any. I ended up repeatedly drinking water to offset the saltiness. I offered my wings to my dining mates where they all agreed were tasty and mentioned they'd order this should they return to SGM. Coincidentally, all 3 dining mates ordered hamburger steak and commented they acknowledged the homemade patties but the gravy was underwhelming. The rice was okay and the macaroni salad was nothing to write home about, as evidenced my friends not finishing them up. Service was at par as it's self service here. You stand in line to order and after paying, you claim your food at the counter. SGM really had the old school vibe with non digital menus with signs posted all over. In closing, mixed feelings on SFM and glad that I finally tried them. This is not a place I'd bring my family to. I'd be game for a return visit but not eager to go back in the near future. read more

Parking was challenging because even though it's a spacious, free, shared lot, many businesses are busy during lunchtime, and customers from Ice Palace (ice skating rink) need to park there, too! The interior of the cozy shop was packed! Every table was taken, and there were several people standing and waiting for their orders, while patrons with phone-in orders went in and out. This was a busy time! Each of us took turns ordering while the rest of us saved a table with bench seats attached. It was squishy, so we luckily knew each other well! Paul shared his order of chicken wings... they were steaming hot, crispy, moist, tender inside, and tasty outside... wow! Really good! I got the Hamburger Steak Plate - yummy! Again since today was a holiday I ventured out for lunch at Stadium mall . Met up with some Yelp friends and we decided to eat at Stadium Giants Malts. I ordered their Hamburger steak it was nice and hot although it was missing a little salt . The nice thing it was homemade patties not pre-fab. It came with 3 patties with 2 scoop white rice and Mac salad . Paul .C ordered the chicken wings and he gave me a piece to try and I said whoa . Next time I'm definitely ordering their chicken wings. Wanted to get a chocolate malt for old times sake. Haven't had one in years and I was at the strip mall. Ordered a small and holy smokes. It was over $9.00. Ordered the ginger chicken plate and the 10 piece chicken wings app. Chicken wings were good (very crunchy) but not seasoned. Just deep fried wings (no batter). The ginger chicken plate had good flavor. They must've been running low when I ordered at 5pm, as my regular plate was not as full as previous yelp review photos showed (perhaps 80%...normal plate lunch portion). This was our first time trying this place out even though it's been there forever! It has an ambiance of a mom and pop vibe which I like. The service was excellent as we didn't have to wait long for our food. I really liked the chicken wings which was my favorite. A small, local place with great food! We ordered the chicken & shrimp BBQ special. It's not BBQ with sauce, this is Hawaiian BBQ & the chicken was tender & flavorful. It came with 2 chicken pieces which were cut or pounded thin, 5 grilled shrimp, 2 scoops of rice plus Mac salad. I added some of their teriyaki sauce & ate all my rice & chicken!
