So second time at this location, been to the Fountain Valley location a few times and always good. First off they wouldn't sub onion rings for fries on the lunch combo, never an issue at Fountain Valley. Charge me, no problem, but it was a no go. Then we asked for ice. No joke, it probably took her at least 5 minutes of chopping and hacking at a frozen chunk of ice cubes to fill 2 cups less than halfway. I apologized and said I wouldn't have asked if it was such a chore, she then said their ice machine broke 3 months ago! They just pick up ice at random stores and other locations, then freeze it and it sticks together and the employees have to go ham on it with a knife! We ordered the ddeoke-bokke and it was delivered to the table with no bowls, no serving spoon. So I walk up and ask, they have paper trays instead of bowls and she hands me a small plastic spoon to serve. She said they did not have serving spoons. Also, the ddeoke-bokke was super watery. So in conclusion, either the Fountain Valley location makes a delicious and rich ddeoke-bokke and goes above and beyond to stock bowls and serving spoons and accommodates subs, or the Tustin location is in dire need of new management. The folks working the counter are friendly and on the ball in my experience. This location is primarily a take out place, although there are a few tables available if you want to eat there. The Original Fried Chicken is great; it's crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. A number of other varieties are available, but I've always gotten the Original Fried Chicken. A number of sides are offered. I favor the corn salad and the pickled radish. Prices are reasonable given the quality of the food and the portion sizes. The chicken was really good. I loved how crispy everything was and the sauces / flavors were nice. Great to-go packaging for on the go as well - yay! I also received a small container of what I think was pickled daikon (radish) that was cubed per order of chicken. The place is small inside - it's mainly for walking up and picking up or walking in to order up front and waiting for your order either inside or outside. There are a few tables with bench seating inside and a single TV that repeatedly played K-Pop music videos which were actually fun to watch as I've never really seen them before. This is definitely a place you have to keep coming back to in order to work your way through the menu. Our first time visiting we ordered the following: Secret Spicy boneless chicken, Honey Garlic boneless chicken, Kimchi Fried Rice, Cheese Sticks, Sweet Potato Fries and an extra side of radishes. Honestly everything was delicious! The pieces of chicken they give you are HUGE so it's definitely enough for a few people to share. Personally I preferred the Honey garlic flavor to the Secret Spicy - just a warning I think the secret is cinnamon. A bit of a peculiar flavor to taste in chicken. Wasn't really to my liking but it wasn't terrible either. The cheese sticks and sweet potato fries were nice sides to have as well. But for me the main star of sides was hands down the kimchi fried rice. You absolutely HAVE to get this with your chicken - its the perfect pairing. That and the radishes are a nice palette cleanser and offer a tasty crunch to the meal! The food all came out within a reasonable amount of time. I could tell it was all fresh from the kitchen. My hunt for food KFC has ended at this place! Every time my GF and I visit LA, we go to 5 star yelp KFC places and they've always been underwhelming (not bad but just not 5 star worthy.) This location was actually the closest place we could find on our way to Newport beach from Hollywood and decided to give it a try. We ordered: 1. Golden Original with secret sauce on the side: We only ordered this because we saw another yelp review who did this and felt it would maybe keep the chicken crispy longer. This worked but I felt the secret sauce was just okay. The golden original also didn't soak up the sauce as well as I thought it would. 2. Honey Garlic: HOLY CRAP THIS WAS SO GOOD! Even after waiting 20 mins to eat it, it was still super crispy and delicious. The sauce was incredible and super flavorful. I wish we ordered 2 orders of this. My entire family loved this and we ate the entire order within minutes. This is one of my go to places whenever I am craving for some korean fried chicken. Definitely recommend going here if you are ever having cravings for something crispy, delicious, and satisfying. My favorite flavor is the soy garlic. I usually get a large order of this flavor and either medium sized wings in a different flavor or the kimchi fried rice. That amount is enough to fill up 2 hungry people. Other wing flavors I recommend are the cheesling, gangnam style, and galbi (in that order). I did not care too much for the honey garlic (felt like the flavors were weak in comparison to the others; could barely taste the honey). I haven't tried the golden original yet and am hesitant to do so because it looks pretty plain to me lol. If any of you have tried it and recommend it let me know! The kimchi fried rice is pretty basic, sometimes a bit bland, but I still order it because it goes pretty well with their wings! Their sweet potato fries are decent, just don't like how soggy they can be sometimes. The pickled radish is complimentary with your wings and it is delicious! I would make sure that it is pickled though because they gave me regular radish one time and it was not good lol. This place can get busy at times, especially in the evenings. This place got a lot of hype from my friends so I tried it out. First off, it's small and not a lot of place to sit and eat so you're probably ordering to go. And when you're ordering fried chicken to go, you know it's just not going to be as good as eating it there. Anyway, I ordered the original golden per recommendations from friends. I got both the whole chicken and boneless. The coating is similar to the KFC extra crispy. It wasn't too oily and it's cooked pretty well. It also has a small kick of spice you taste afterward. I ate a few as soon as I picked it up so I could get a sense of how good it was fresh. Again, pretty good but it didn't blow me away. I did notice that it didn't give me that heavy/sick feeling after eating fried chicken normally so I don't know if they're using higher quality oil or not drowning it in the oil while cooking it but that was a plus. That said, as someone who is more of a hot chicken fan, I'm not sure this is a place I would seek out. Definitely a step up from KFC but you don't need to hunt it down as a must eat.
