Best BBQ Pork sandwich I've ever had. Easily. This place was a total surprise.

Couldn't stop talking about this place after eating there. I had the pulled pork, brisket, beans and a black IPA. The pulled pork with "hogwash" was outstanding. So good that, even though the brisket was only okay, this place still gets 5. The BBQ is phenomenal and really complemented by the great beer selection. My party also had the tri tip and ribs. Each was excellent but the pulled pork was the real winner. Same owners as Aptos St BBQ so if you need a fix on the coast, give that place a try. It is similarly excellent. read more

What a great place to enjoy great BBQ eats! Pulled Pork... Tender,moist, delicious! BBQ Chicken sandwich, full of flavor, Ribs... meaty ,tender and tasty!! Don't forget the dessert! The berry cobbler is a dish for two!! they just installed TV'a with every sports channel known to man! The manager, Danny is great and is fun to visit with! Great beer and wine selection as well. We rode our motorcycles from San Jose to Gilroy a couple months back, intending to eat at The Longhouse across the street. One of the guys suggest Barbecue 152, which opened fairly recently after being a closed former restaurant for quite some time. We liked it so much that we went on our ride out to the coast, and stopped by on the way home for some tri-tip for my daughter and some chicken for my friend's wife, who both enjoyed their meals at home. Great service, amazing food and awesome music playing in the background not just brought us back to life, but showed us why so many people before us gave such high praise. How is out that in'n out burger is a 4 star and BBQ 152 is only 1/2 star more?! This place is great! Big smokers in three back. The ribs were to die for. The tri tip was expertly smoked and seasoned. Great food at a great price. Came here for the first time tonight while in Gilroy for business. Super friendly service- told her it was my first time here and she suggested a sampler platter. 3 meat sampler for 15$! What a deal! Great amount of food and really good. I'll be back for sure. The food was good, let me start with that... But for 3 sandwiches and one rack of ribs to be over $90... It was very overpriced in my opinion. The service was ok, but not so exceptional as to warrant that kind of cost. The tables were very cheap and wobbly, and had not been cleaned for at least two prior meals.... And in a bar-b-que place that is just not acceptable. We will not go there again. read more

The chicken is the best and the other meats are good, but they're not always consistent. Same for the coleslaw, sometimes I can't get enough in the little cup, other times, one bite and I'm done with it. BBQ 152 was at least a every other week stop for dinner so I'd know if there was a change from visit to visit. Their prices have increased what seems like a lot over the past year or two (now $16 for a 2 meat plate) and if you're getting there late and to the end of the tray of something, the portions and quality are questionable. Definately great BBQ they were only one cook and cashier but served us quickly and friendly. Pork ribs fall off the bone and beans simple with meat. Should definatly give it a try. You will not be disapointed. read more

Disappointed, from the reviews I read I expected more. I got the three meat combo with Brisket, Tri-Tip and their 831 spicy sausage. Brisket had good smoke and was a little dry. Tri-tip needed some trimming the pieces they served me were full of gristle and silver skin and the spicy sausage wasn't. Some places deserve a second chance but I don't think I'll be back here. read more

Excellent customer service! The employee was having trouble with the cash register and was trying to delete extra charges to my order. We had a girls day trip to the outlets and came here for an early lunch based on all the reviews.. Wow.. Best BBQ that I have had here in CA! I spent some years on the the east coast and had my share of rich smokey BBQ, so I was anxious to try it. We each chose different entrees so that we could share and taste the different choices. Ribs, tri tip, brisket, pulled pork..potato salad, salad, garlic bread. It was all excellent! So good, that when we were done shopping, we headed back for dinner and dessert, Berry Cobbler with Vanilla ice cream and bread pudding. Honestly I would give no stars if possible. This meal bordered on uneatable! The meat was tough. The potato salad was vile but the baked beans were the worst ever. Garlic bread was even awful...how do you screw that up? I'm shocked because a lot of my friends rave over this place. We were very excited to have another option for BBQ in Gilroy (Other than Famous Dave's). Unfortunately we were disappointed in the food. We enjoyed the ribs and pulled pork. But as for the chicken, tri-tip and sides, they weren't very good. The service was OK. The BBQ sauce was not what you expect from a BBQ place, more like a bottled brand. I gave them 2 tries just to make sure I didn't get them on a bad day, but things were exactly the same both times. We will be going back to Famous Dave's. read more

This Place is great, We have been driving to Morgan Hill to Trail Dust and were thrilled when they opened 152 in Gilory. I believe it is the same owner. The meats are as good but the side dishes still need a little work. Happy to eat there. read more

Everything is delicious, best in Gilroy, you must try the berry cobbler and bread pudding...to die for..we love this place :-) This is our new Barbeque restaurant, I don't know why we waited so long. Forget Famous Daves, BBQ 152 is hands down the best BBQ in Gilroy. The food was great but what really made me take the time to write a review was the extremely friendly lady behind the counter. I am notorious for not being able to make up my mind and she took the time to answer ALL my questions and make suggestions even my 11 year old daughter commented about how friendly she was. Went here for the first time today. I had the pulled pork plate. the pork is super tender, moist and flavorful. loved it! i also really liked the bread. for a side i chose the potato salad. it was good. there was a spice in it that was different. it wasn't bad just different... i'm going back again to try the ribs and i hear you can only get the brisket on the weekends. read more

Stopped in on Valentine's Day for lunch after a quick trip to the outlets, just passing through Gilroy. What a great place! We enjoyed brisket, pork ribs and a BBQ chicken sandwich. All amazing! I am from out of town and had to come to Gilroy for work. I asked 2 different people where the best place to get ribs around here was and this place was brought up both times. So I figured I would go with the advice and I'm glad I did, a great rack of ribs with some killer BBQ and hot sauce! The staff were super friendly as they greeted you as if you were a regular! We stopped here just before closing after spending the whole day @ the local outlet mall. This place was recommended by one of the salesclerks at one of the stores. Very casual place & the food smelled wonderful. We had the pork rib combos w/ cole slaw & potato salad. The slaw was good, the potato salad was OK (I prefer my potato salad tart/tangy, like how it's done @ Philippe in Los Angeles), and the ribs were excellent. Lotsa meat & tender. Easy to take off the bone and moist. All in all, it was a good choice for dinner. One warning to others is that they add the tip on to the bill (I charged it). I didn't notice it until I got home, after I had left a cash tip in the bucket by the registers. So they got a double tip from me. Still, I would go back again if I'm in the area. After seeing all the stars on this website, thought might give it a try. The people behind the counter were very friendly and helpful. The meat was pretty good: I had the 2 meal combo: tri tip and chicken. I had 3 small slices of tri tip and almost half a chicken; the balance was completely gone...! The garlic bread was good (very buttery, not good for my health I guess...). For side dish I picked beans: wrong choice. They had no taste and were hard to chew on. All in all I was disappointed; I think it's highly overpriced for what you get. read more

I've been meaning to try this place for a while and boy was I disappointed. First things first, no pickles? Really? I don't know if its just a Texas thing, but to me Pickles are to barbecue as peanut butter is to jelly. So that was my first turn off. I ordered the hot link sandwich on the "garlic bread" and to be honest, it just did not mix. I was with 3 other people and unfortunately we all ordered different sandwiches on the "garlic bread" and we all agreed, it was not good. The potato salad was nothing to rave about, and the "Ranch style beans" were just weird, I tried to add bbq sauce to make them taste better, didn't work. The price for real barbecue is worth it to me but this was definitely not worth the $68 we spent! read more
