I get if it's a big party group. But it was only my husband and I. I refuse to pay a service fee and a 20% tip. I get tipping the waiter. But service fee no thanks. One less place I'm going to. And also there were buckets of water on the floor around the dining area. And the place just had clutter on the floor. Do better if you're charging all these fees. read more

For $21.99 AYCE in Koreatown, the price is definitely the biggest reason to come here. The $21.99 Happy Hour is ALL DAY, EVERY DAY and includes the self bar. Kids ages 3-8 are $14.99. Honestly, the self bar was probably my kids' favorite part. They kept going back for japchae, tteokbokki, fried rice, dumplings, chicken wings, fruit, and more. There's also a self-serve ramen station. Ramen is $1.99 per package with the $21.99 special, and you can cook it yourself. We also got to try both the mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) and bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles). I actually liked the naengmyeon! The bibim naengmyeon here has quite a bit of broth, rather than being the dry-style bibim naengmyeon. The restaurant itself is HUGE, so I think this would be a good spot for larger groups or family gatherings. Overall, I wouldn't come specifically for the quality of the meat, but for $21.99 AYCE in LA, it's a solid value. My husband and I visited on August 20 at around 11:30 a.m. The male server was friendly and professional, but the older female server was incredibly rude. We asked a simple question about which meat was cooking, since we wanted to know if it was the large intestine or small intestine and she responded in a dismissive, irritated tone, as though we were bothering her. We were both genuinely offended, and I was very close to asking her directly to treat us with more respect. We paid for the $40 option rather than the lunch special, which made the experience even more disappointing that she treated us that way. Although every guest deserves respectful treatment regardless of what they order. I rarely leave negative reviews, but no one should be treated this way. I went here yesterday for the first time and forgot to take pictures, but this place lets you order 3 meats at a time and has a cool pan to cook things in. They don't bring panchan out to your table as they have big catering type trays in an area filled with kimchi, macaroni salad, fish cakes, really yummy cucumbers, salads and dips, beef ribs and more. Tteokbuki too. The meat here is pretty good. They are better than average cuts, but not premium prime cuts in the $40 all you can eat package, which is option B. They don't cook things for you here's you have to be aware that you'll be doing the cooking on your own. Some of the best meats we had were the short rib, the beef tongue and the brisket. I think the best thing they had there was the soybean paste soup. I finished nearly all of that myself. The dips here are okay compared to other places. Overall this place is a pretty good value. But we originally wanted to check out chubby cattle for the first time but got there too late to have a full experience, so we went here instead. I think the service is good and attentive. Our favorites are the brisket, honeycomb black pork, and both the small and large intestines. And, she is coming all the way from out of state to see me after 15 years), and today is Buddha's Birthday. Last year Memorial Day weekend, I took a trip to Murrieta Hot Springs Spa, but this year I decided to stay in LA, hang out with friends, and visit a Buddhist temple. Yesterday, eight of us from our group got together for dinner at Cheongdam Korean BBQ. It's an AYCE (All-You-Can-Eat) BBQ place, and their pricing is structured at $56.99, $41.99, $36.99, and $24.99. We went with the $56.99 option and kept ordering the fresh sirloin and prime short ribs. They also have a self-serve salad bar where you can grab salad, tteokbokki, fried dumplings, japchae, fruit, and more. They had rice wraps (tteok-bossam), which I love--I really enjoy wrapping the meat in the rice wrap, dipping it in sesame oil, and eating it with salad. The quality of the meat was good and tasty, and I was really happy that everything at the salad bar was delicious, too. Also, all the staff members were kind, and the valet parking man in particular, was incredibly friendly, which was great. However, while the staff was friendly and brought us what we asked for, they didn't check on our table very often, and my friends frequently mentioned that this was inconvenient. Usually, Korean restaurants have call bells on the tables, but this place didn't have one. Since there was no bell and the staff rarely came by to check on us, it was quite frustrating. Still, whenever they did come by, they brought exactly what we requested and were very polite. But when they brought the check, they told us that a 20% tip had been automatically charged because we were a large group, which made my group members a bit unhappy. Since the servers didn't check on us frequently and we had to cook all the meat ourselves (since it's AYCE), some members felt the automatic 20% tip was unjustified. One person in our group even said they would never come back here. Despite that, I still enjoyed it. The meat was high quality and delicious, the staff was friendly, and when we ordered steamed eggs, everyone was able to get their own individual serving. Soooo good! We got seated right away. Menu is pretty self explanatory. Prices are good as well. Place is pretty spacious. I don't like their chairs though, it doesn't have grip and slides around so be careful with that and their floors. There is a hot food section, you can help yourself and items are listed on the menu. Also a self serve banchan section, basically your traditional Korean side dishes. The rice is self serve too, the rice did seem a little hard like it was sitting in the pot too long. Once seated they take your order right away, you get a side salad and your choice of 3 cuts of meats at a time. You can ask them for sauces and rice paper to go with your food. I came on a Tuesday afternoon with friends, we are black and brown people and I feel like we didn't get good service because of that. We had to ask for water when it was just given to everyone else upon arrival. When we wanted to order they kept walking past us, and everything would take a while. The guys energy was just off and not pleasant at all. We did not appreciate being treated differently. I came in with a party of 8 but we couldn't sit together. We were placed in back to back booths. One table wanted to order the A. Premium special and the other wanted the B. Choice special. The server said we would have to move tables if we wanted to do that to prevent sharing food to the group that didn't order the A menu. We agreed but they said there weren't any tables available to move to but there were enough open tables. Both tables ended up just choosing the $39.99 B tier menu. Large intestine here is different from what you'd get at Aghassi or King Chang, very chewy, not at all soft, fluffy or fatty. Brisket is boring but beef belly is delicious! Marinated thin sliced pork and honeycomb black pork were great, as well! All of these things were on the $25 anytime AYCE option. A steal, in this town, for the quality of the meat. Steamed egg was $2 extra, but corn cheese, rice and a whole hot/cold bar of other items were included, even on weekends! Truly anytime. They also brought us a dressed salad and rice wrappers. Salad w/o dressing is available at the cold bar, along with large lettuce leaves for wrapping. Ventilation could use some work as this was very smoky. Free during lunch and self-parking in a small lot, but we were still able to find a spot without any trouble. We did the Happy Hour for $22 per person. For all you can eat Korean BBQ that can handle a crowd and has parking, Chung Dam is pretty good. We did the cheaper menu ($40 as of this visit) and while none of the meats were particularly good, just about everything was more than tasty enough. The brisket, tongue, and marinated galbi were our go-to meats over the meal, and the ribeye was also better than average for AYCE. The banchan and fruit are all buffet, quality was, well, a buffet. Parking lot is good sized and valet only ($3), and the lobby is decorated in a very attractive manner for social media posts. 3.5 stars, but the meal does not stand out enough in my mind to round up, not with such stiff competition in Koreatown. read more

There's a decent amount of street parking around the restaurant. It's very spacious inside. They have a self-serve bar which includes some cooked food (tteokbokki, fried chicken, onion rings, churros, etc) and raw meat that you can cook. Then there's a menu that you can order other types of meat. The cooked portion of the self-bar is mainly a miss; the churros were soggy, cooked meats felt like leftovers. The tteokbokki was pretty good. My group ordered the C Combo, which contains a good variety of meat options. I like the honeycomb black pork and beef brisket+belly. Sometimes the servers will cook the food. The woman who was attending us kept telling us that we could eat because the meat was finished and kept urging us to eat, but we were taking our time, so that was a little frustrating. I don't like leaving bad reviews, but if sharing my experience can help future customers and give the owners some honest feedback, then I feel it's important to let others know what happened. Today was my first time visiting this restaurant. I already know of Korean BBQ places where you can get AYCE for around the same price I paid here, but I wanted to give this place a try. The restaurant opens at 11 a.m., and I arrived around noon on a Friday. It wasn't very busy, but one of the first things I noticed was the number of flies inside the restaurant. At first, I saw one fly near my table and didn't think much of it. One fly can happen anywhere, so I wasn't too concerned. The restaurant has a corner area they call the salad bar, where customers can serve themselves the sides that are normally brought to your table at AYCE Korean BBQ restaurants. As I walked over, I noticed they also had ramen packets available for an additional charge per packet, so I skipped those and went to the self-serve section. As I got closer to the salad bar, I noticed several more flies. Unfortunately, this time they were landing directly on the food. At that point, I couldn't bring myself to eat any of the sides because I had already seen the flies landing on them. The only thing I took was the steamed rice, which was covered, so I felt more comfortable knowing it was protected. I quickly brought the rice back to my table because I seen my raw meat was already sitting there, and I was concerned about flies landing on it as well. I started cooking and, as I normally do, I tried to keep my utensils separate one set for handling raw meat and another for moving cooked meat to help prevent cross-contamination. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. The owners, who genuinely seemed like nice people and were trying to help, came over and used the same tongs to handle/move both my uncooked and cooked meat. Later, one of the owners came back to change the grill and moved my cooked beef from the skillet onto my plates. During this process, a piece of meat fell onto the area around the flame control knobs. The waiter picked it up with the tongs and placed it back onto my plate. I didn't want to be rude, so I didn't say anything at the time and planned to simply remove it after she walked away. As I continued eating, I noticed the flies moving toward another area of the restaurant. I then saw one of the owners walking around swatting at them near the station where they keep clean plates. Looking back toward the salad bar, I noticed there was a fan blowing directly toward the area. I assume it was being used to keep the flies away from the food. If that is the case, it made me feel that the owners were aware of the fly problem but not doing a great job addressing the underlying issue. I want to emphasize that the owners seemed like good people and were friendly and willing to help. My issue is not with them personally; it's with the overall experience and, most importantly, the food-safety concerns I experienced during my visit. Unfortunately, my overall experience was not pleasant. Seeing flies repeatedly landing on the food, having concerns about raw and cooked meat being handled with the same utensils, and having food fall onto the area around the grill controls and then placed back on my plate made it very difficult for me to enjoy my meal. I really wanted to like this place, but based on my experience today, I won't be coming back. We stumbled upon BBQ Chung Dam while looking for a good KBBQ option in LA. And we're so glad we did! This place is huge and is basically the entire lot so there's always a lot of seating. We went during lunch so we didn't have to wait, but not sure how this would be like for dinner. They have their own parking lot which is rare for the area, but it is valet FYI! They have a number of menu options from $22-57. We ended up getting the prime (top tier) to get boneless short ribs and rib fingers. YUM. But even their cheapest menu has fantastic options. It's rare for me to find good large intestines at places that aren't full intestine BBQ places, but they even have it available on the lowest tier. There's also a self serve salad bar that has most sides and a few cooked options. It was great to just grab and go! A few things like rice paper and sauces weren't at the bar, but it was fine because service was quick and easy! The servers came up frequently and helped us adjust temps on the grill, take our orders, or just to help us cook here and there. The food itself was great! An absurd amount of food to fill our bellies, for sure! Parking is a small lot, valet for $3. This location is huge inside with plenty of seating. The restaurant is clean enough, with cute decor. Staff is kinda friendly, kinda not. Skip the buffet pre-cooked foods, they're not good and really just space fillers. We opted for the premium option and went hammy on all of the premium meats which were delicious. Definitely stick to the premium cuts. The pan chan were good. Wow. My new favorite place in K town. The service here is great. They bring you the meat as before they let you get what you wanted. Much better way to control what we cook. Hah. My friends were craving kbbq and they had suggested this place and I've never been here, so I was open to trying it out. So I let my friends do the ordering of the meats and overall the meat quality were okay and didn't give me that wow factor I guess. The things I didn't like about this place was the open bar of the condiments because it just sat there for I don't know how long and wasn't fresh. The service was pretty good, the staff were attentive to us and kept the food coming quickly. They have solid options for that price and they also have a hot buffet of Korean famous eats like japchae and tteokbokki. I went to BBQ Chung Dam for the first time yesterday. There is a parking lot in front. We got seated right away and there was amply seating inside. I love that they have a salad bar which includes cheese corn, veggies, fried rice, macaroni salad, japchae, and much more. We got brisket, beef belly, and ribeye.
