Overall I really liked this place and I'd go back! I was happy to see that their happy hour ends at 7 which is pretty late, happy to get extra time for deals. The service was really nice and friendly. The spot is cute cozy and clean. All of the food was really food, I really liked the seared salmon roll and that was my favorite. Overall they were good but I probs wouldn't get the wasabi hamachi roll again, it seemed to be the universal group least fav bc it was the only one with leftovers and 3 pieces left.

Great ubereats deal! Fresh fish and hefty portion. Quick service and very clean inside. Friendly staff! Great spot for sushi in this area.

This place is hidden gem in downtown seattle(first hill) area. I love their Happy hour. All you have to do is order at least one drink and then you can order everything on their hh menu. Check out their hh menu from 4-7pm. You wont be disappointed. Their portion is huge for hh menu. :0 Ive been here so many times and their service was always excellent. Ive almost tried everything on their menu. Everything is good. But my favorite item that I must order when i eat here is baked mussels, tuna chips.

We went on the friday after New year around 7ish and found a table immediately. I am not sure if it was due to the holiday week. Miso is to order and not complimentary. The gentleman who served us was friendly but pushy. He wasn't ready to give us more time to go through the entire menu. We ordered the following - gyoza, Mr Jalapeno, Lobster - Baked Roll, Heart attack and Golden Cali (we prefer cooked sushis). Ambience was good. Foodwise all was good. You can definitely try this place out. Parking is on street and is paid parking.

Tried Sushi Kanpai on a whim, and it was delicious! Reasonable prices and well packaged. Really like that the Udon noodles, tempura, and broth were all packaged separately. Be very careful with the broth if you're doing take out/delivery, it was extremely hot to the point I was concerned the container wouldn't survive the trip back to my place. The vegetable and shrimp tempura was well made, not too much batter. The gyoza may look like the kind you'd get from H Mart/District H's freezer section, but they were delicious and pretty well portioned with the meat. Will definitely try again!

Good selection on the HH menu. You need to buy a drink (of any kind) before you can order off the HH menu but the service was speedy and attentive. The sushi was pretty good. I wish they'd had more vegetarian options though. It was a very cozy and pretty restaurant and very clean too. I'd definitely come back for the HH menu.

Sushi Kanpai was selected by an area office the location, menu, and customer service are superb. I greatly appreciate the bento style to go covered to go plates; this made it easier to transport and unpack. The office staff were all very happy with their selections, and raved about the sushi. Be mindful of the ongoing construction going on around it, if parking becomes challenging there's a parking lot across the street that can be utilized. I will definitely utilize Sushi Kanpai again, and highly recommend!

    Lunch sushi special

This place is pretty close to the two hospital and it's quite busy during lunch. I've been here before but it's been really long time ago Anyways, I ordered takeout and thought it was ok. Portion for the price is pretty good as each thing comes with a miso soup and each dish was around $10-13. Lunch roll combo (2 rolls): we got the salmon skin roll and the shrimp tempura roll for this. I was surprised at how the shrimp tempura roll was made as it's not your typical way. Both roll was probably my least favorite. The Crispiness from each roll was gone and it has a more chewier taste. The flavor was subpar. Lunch special ( 6piece sushi + California roll): the california roll was kinda bland for my taste. The sushi was ok, it was standard, nothing really stood out. Katsu bento: this came with rice, California roll, veggie tempura, a small salad. This was pretty good. I definitely like the veggie tempura the most as it was filled with veggies than the Tempura portion. The katsu would have been good if the meat/cut was bigger/thicker. Overall, it was ok.

The signature rolls are really good but the baked salmon roll stood out the most. We went during happy hour prices are regular compared to other sushi restaurants, but require you to buy a beverage per person when ordering off happy hour. The service was regular but the food was outstanding.

It seems great for special occasions (we saw them coming by with a polaroid for those celebrating such as birthdays or anniversaries. I enjoyed how relaxed the vibes are at this place. I wish they had more cold tea options for the summer and more non-alcoholic drinks in general, but still had a great experience. The fish selection is fresh and the pieces are very manageable. It feels like there is a local touch with the salmon course/pieces. My husband is left handed and I was very impressed our waiter noticed and adjusted accordingly. I especially loved their soy sauce (which they said was house made). Fun little date night out and we really did enjoy it. Highly recommend making a reservation as that is what we did.

Reservations during off peak dinner hours aren't too difficult to get on a weeknight and street parking was fairly easy to find. The omakase / tasting menu is 19 bites, which is a decent amount of food, but overall the fish quality was really disappointing. There were only about 4-5 pieces of nigiri that tasted fresh and clean; the white fish that you start with in particular were just not a fun texture or flavor. The shellfish course and sweet shrimp were solid though. Unfortunately, besides the fish, the rice was a total flop too. It just felt dried out as if they had been pre portioned well ahead of time and under seasoned. Part of the joy of a course menu, if you want slightly warm / room temperature rice against the cool fish, but you get zero of that contrast here.

It held up nicely to being a great finish to a very high quality meal. We are definitely coming back!

It was also wonderful to see that everyone seated at our counter had traveled from out of state just to experience his omakase, which speaks volumes about his reputation. This was, without a doubt, the best sushi omakase experience I've ever had. The fish was exceptionally fresh, and every bite was thoughtfully prepared. The flavors were unlike any sushi I've had before and gave me a whole new appreciation for how extraordinary sushi can be when it's crafted by a chef with such deep knowledge and experience. Get a cup of coffee and take a deep breath. This is a long-winded story…read more About 13 years ago, while vacationing in Seattle, we took a food tour. Our food tour was very intimate, just the two of us plus the guide. One of the restaurants we visited was called Shiro. We arrived mid-afternoon, while the restaurant was closed to the public. We were each served two pieces of Nigiri and told the story about Shiro. The two pieces that we were served were phenomenal and the story fascinating. We found out when Chef Shiro would be working next and cancelled another dinner reservation so we could try more of his food. When we arrived before opening time, there was already a woman waiting at the door. After us, a Seattle software engineer and three of his Canadian co-workers arrived. We had all arrived early because sitting at the bar in front of Shiro was on a first come, first served basis, reservations were not taken for that privilege. The year after we dined, we read that Shiro had retired. We were so disappointed that we would not get to eat his food again. Then we learned that Shiro opened a new restaurant and we planned on making a trip up to Seattle. Twelve years later, we finally made it. Reservations were made through opentable.com two months in advance. We wanted the Omakase, sitting at the bar, in front of the Master. Well, when we arrived, we found that Shiro only works on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. (sigh) Still, we had a great meal prepared by an amazing chef who hailed from Laos, whose name escapes me now. We had a pretty good conversation despite the background noise from the rest of the restaurant. The presentation was beautiful as you can see from my pictures. We asked for and received a menu list that detailed what we were being served. If you take the time to look at the photo captions, you can follow along with the menu list to see what each fish looked like. And then, on our way out, there was Shiro! We greeted him, thanked him and his Sushi Chef for a great meal. We asked for a photo and he had a staff member take the picture for us. Yes, Shiro is a slight man but not quite as small as the picture makes him look. The staffer changed my camera setting from 1x to .5x and because he was standing one step behind us, we look huge! At any rate, it was a meal that will remain with us to the end of our days. Domo Arigato Gozaimasu Shiro Kashiba & Staff!

From the moment we arrived, everyone was genuinely friendly, welcoming, and eager to make sure we had a great experience. I've been fortunate to enjoy several omakase meals over the years, and while many simply let the chef choose your sushi, Sugo takes the concept to another level. Every course is thoughtfully orchestrated, with each piece expertly prepared and presented right in front of you. Watching the chefs work is part of what makes the evening so memorable. The seafood was incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and every course reflected genuine craftsmanship and attention to detail. It was clear that the chefs take great pride in what they create.
