This place is a total gem! There are so many things I enjoy about this cute lil' teriyaki joint. First of all, the lovely lady who runs the register is always so kind and welcoming whenever I stop by for lunch. Like, consistently amazing each and every time! Second of all, the chicken teriyaki is delicious! I love the tender chicken that is coated in the yummy teriyaki sauce. It comes with two scoops of full rice and a small salad. It's a great combo. OoO! They also have sushi a great sushi menu as well! I've yet to try it but I foresee indulging in the near future! Kudos to his place for being a great go-to! read more

Pros: + I did enjoy the Teriyaki chicken that I got here. Cons: + Unfortunately, there's going to be way more cons than pros considering the 2 stars. The Teriyaki was about the only good thing I've had here. The California roll that I got with the bento box was worse (by a lot) than grocery store sushi. Just don't get the sushi here. + Have gotten taken out and got their General Tso's Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, and a beef dish - all of them were just Sweet and tasted one note. I know GTC might be a bit sweet but not every single dish should be sweet. Maybe they're so used to doing Teriyaki..... + Can we talk about the rice portion that comes with take out??? I'm pretty sure it's one scoop (like the large ice cream scoop or mashed potato sized scoop that you get at the cafeteria). C'mon, it's just white rice, you can give a little more than that.... I mean, I just don't recommend this place as a good Chinese take out place and I'm really disappointed because it's so close to me. But regardless of how convenient it is, I just cannot bring myself to spend money on and eat this food. read more

I came here on a whim for lunch and thought it was just ok. Based on the reviews, I decided to grab the spicy chicken teriyaki. I asked for no rice and extra salad. What I got was no rice, but also no extra salad... the portion was ok for what you pay, but the chicken was also ok, nothing really spectacular. It wasn't spicy and there was a lot of sauce. The salad was standard as well. However, i did wish they didn't put the dressing on there as I didn't eat the food until later on and the salad was gloopy and soft. Service was good though. Have never dined in, but have ordered on Uber eats a handful of times. You can count on this place for their consistency. Teriyaki tastes the same every time. Love their spicy chicken teriyaki. It comes with two full scoops of rice and a small salad which is essentially just lettuce and dressing but the dressing is tasty! It's like a sweet ginger dressing. They were also accommodating on changing the regular roll to a hand roll which was great! The amount of fish included was a bit disappointing especially for an $8 roll. Tasted as expected - just wish it was bigger. Definitely give this a try if you're craving teriyaki. As a big fan of both teriyaki and sushi, I had high hopes for Koibito when I arrived for lunch. The place is cute on the outside and - bonus - there was actually a parking spot available right in front. Once inside, though, I was pretty disappointed. I ordered a chicken teriyaki combo with a California roll then found a seat in their dining room. It was a cold, near-freezing day and this room had no heat except that provided by a space heater that was on the opposite side of the room from me. It was SO COLD in there. Everyone had their coats and hats on. It might have been warmer to sit outside! Soon my meal arrived and it was a large, Bento-like assortment of teriyaki, rice, a salad, and the California roll. The teriyaki was okay - a little sweet for my tastes but it was acceptable. The roll, though, was pretty amateur. The rice was very dry and it seemed like it had been sitting out for awhile, maybe even overnight. I didn't even finish it, which (if you know my love for even mediocre sushi) is a rarity. I was also disappointed to find out that there was a charge for hot tea, especially since my meal came out to over $15 plus tax/tip. I'm pretty sure I won't return here - at least not during winter! read more

It is a small little place but that does not affect how the food tasted because it was THE best one we've had yet. I find myself in a good mood just by coming in to pick up my doordash order because everyone is so ridiculously friendly and glad to be there! It's not super customizable but it's delicious and the sauce it comes with is literally perfect in every way. Don't come on expecting a bougie belltown sushi bar, or a swanky cap hill Asian fusion place. That's not at all what koibito is. This is a small, modest shop for some home style Japanese food. The Teri chicken is flavorful and humungous. Generous portions. I got it with the tempura. Very reasonable price for the portions, and came with tentsuyu (tempura dipping sauce). My significant other got the chirashi. We did takeout, and were a little surprised at it not coming in a bowl, but in the square takeout container. It did have more fish than other poke places in the area usually do though, so it didn't bother me too much. Chirashi also had lox (smoked salmon) which was very unusual but, meh it was yummy. Most places toss in some sauce for that extra dollar you always have to pay for 'spicy' and 90% of the time it is luke warm spiciness at best. Koibito puts a chopped up mix of legitimately spicy peppers in their chicken and it always knocks my socks off. Oh my goodness, have you ever heard the saying "the best teriyaki spot is always the one right by your place" that is fairly true. They might not be my all time favorite spot, but they are my favorite in the area because they are close to me and the staff is literally so sweet, I love them so much! It's always only 15 mins and I get a perfect serving of my favorite teriyaki. I've also heard their sushi is very good, although I do not enjoy seafood, myself.
