Went on Sunday afternoon following the lunch rush. It was very messy at the bar where you get your meats. Several of the tongs were contaminated with raw chicken and fish from being too small for containers. No way to decontaminate my hands until I had cross contaminated everything else touched and back at table. Proper staff attention would have resolved this. Recipe cards were so sticky from not being cleaned. Glad chef knew to cook everything through and through. Tables clean and waitress was great. read more

I dined in this evening and was a bit frustrated by lack of servers. My server seemed to forget about me and my girlfriend. Drinks were left empty for lengthy amount of time. My girlfriend and I have both been in the service industry before and we don't "suck our drinks down" when I got up to use the restroom I could clearly see that there were only 3 servers running around the entire restaurant. This place seems either understaffed or management clearly doesn't know how to make cuts. Not once did I see a manager or even teamwork. Bd's is great when you're really hungry! All the meat is delicious, and cooked with spices of your choice, Mongolian BBQ style. I love build-your-own buffet kind of places, and this is probably one of the best quality for the price. All you can eat is around $15 per person including salad bar and soup. First time eating here. Food area was a mess, the tongs for the chicken was sticky from raw chicken. My wife and I walked up to the bar with our food and the cook told her to go to the far side of the bar with hers. Fabulous! You pick your own meats and veggies (shrimp,chicken,pork, steak, scallops, calamari, sausage, meatballs) and noodles if you want. You get to choose seasonings and sauces. Then you hand it to some talented people with sticks and the cook it for you on a giant round skillet while you watch! So delicious. It was ok. The table seating was to close to each other. They offer an inexpensive Mongolian bowl/plate deal. You also get rice and tortillas for the Mongolian bowl/plate after you sit down. AWFUL service at the bar for a togo order. Asked for a menu, one redneck handed me a menu and told the other redneck "take his order when he figures it out". Reviewed place online before going... Being vegan and traveling for work looked like good option. But I think I paid the same price for all the meat and seafood dishes.... It's all self serve for the most part and you get a tiny bowl for all your fixings so when you only eat vegetables it's piling it over the rim... I paid $20 for my food as a single serving alone... I've gone to hibachi places and high end places that tops this.. feel very ripped off for qty and quality you get. read more

Not good. My boyfriend and I decided to try this place out b/c we always smell something delicious when driving by here. However, it was sub-par. I have a chicken fried rice side, which was just okay and pretty cheap. He got a plate - which meant he could pick out meats/veggies/noodles to get fried up in a bowl. It is buffet style in that you can pick what you want in your stir fry, but you get one bowl's worth for about $15 and no more after that. It was pretty disappointing - expensive, and tasted just like not very good americanized chinese food. And way too salty. read more

Yesterday on our way back from Red River Gorge we stopped and had dinner here. We were not impressed and very saddened, the one in Louisville left a while back and we were looking forward to a nice dinner before heading home. The bars were mostly empty, all our food was blacked and just cooked wrong. We were not given the option of salad bar it was included and not worth the $73.00 we paid for a family of 5. I travel extensively for my job and I "hunt down" BD's whenever possible. Got hooked when they were close to home (closed now) but when one is close while traveling... I'm there. Amazing food and usually quick service. A little pricy but yhe more you pile on the more you get your monies worth.

They do a really good job here. The only "problem" I have is that it's a little expensive. You do get quite a bit of food but $12 for a plate of food is a little much in my opinion. My husband and I did the breakfast, don't waste your money! We asked for over easy eggs, they were well done, the fried potatoes were so over cooked you could't eat them, and lastly, the pancakes were still doughy in the middle. And you pay per cup of coffee! The food was Awesome, the experience was great. Every time we are out in this area of Lexington Bd is a must for our family. The only thing that we were not very satisfied with was the service. We were seated right away, but it took some time for a server to come take our order. After we ordered we got up to fix our bowls, which took some time because it was a little busy. When we got back from getting our bowls my youngest daughter ordered mac & cheese and it had not come yet, we asked about it and they told us it was going to be a few more minutes. Couldn't understand that, our food takes longer to cook than mac & cheese. It seemed like every time we needed something from our server it took forever to get it. We enjoyed the food, but the service needed some help. We couldn't understand why the service was slow, they weren't slammed, just a steady crowd. This place is a unique spot if you're going there for your first time or maybe for a date. It's fun, eccentric, and has a wide variety on the food bar. You walk in and are taken to your seats, the background noise on a scale to 10 is at 6. You get your menu then your bowl. The bowl you receive is an average size bowl. You take the bowl to the food bars (4 bars) to load up with raw foods. You have a meat bar, salad bar, and a spice bar. You load everything you want into the bowls (try to get as much as possible) then take to these workers or pretty much fancy stir fry it for you. They then lay it on a bowl and you take it back to your table and enjoy. The experience is fun but gets old quick since you do a lot of work to get the food. The waitresses I've had in the past are not as good as you would hope. Overall I give 3 stars because the food you put on the plate is good, but the whole experience can be overwhelming. read more

This restaurant is based around the same kind of grill thing you see in a lot of Chinese buffet places - but BD's has far better quality and you will go back. So me and a good friend of mine decided to go here for lunch. I was so excited cause I had never eaten here before. When we arrived we went inside and waited to be seated ...it took about 10 mins to be seated because there was no one to seat us around . After being seat we ordered drinks and 2 Brown rices. .. we then went to the buffet to pick our food and have it cooked in front of us which was pretty Awesome . What was not awesome was that when we returned with our cooked food ready to eat , there was still no rice .... So we continued to wait 20 mins till the waitress decided to bring us rice ... Now we looked at our rice and it was white rice NOT BROWN LIKE WE ASKED FOR ... AT THIS POINT THE WAITRESS HAD DISAPPEARED, So we proceeded to eat , in the mist of eating we never got refills so I took both cups walked to a manager and got refills 3 Times !!! So overall GREAT FOOD , BUT the service was TERRIBLE ... I WILL GIVE THEM ONE MORE CHANCE .... read more

We went to the Sir Barton location on 2/15/19. Chelsea was our server. We were seated in the back where there was an odd smell. The salad bar was mostly wilted brown-edged iceberg, and most of the beef was oxidized - safe to eat, but not appealing. Even though they control portions by the size of the bowl, my wife was only given a pint-sized leftover container. Chelsea refused to give me a leftover container even though I had ¼ cup of rice left. The food was good - but it should be -I'm the one who put it together. My wife complained and was given $20 for the next trip, but I won't be back. Never. read more

Wow. I am now finding out that this is yet another restaurant in Lexington that has an all-you-can-eat option for a decent price. You get bowl, put all the meats, vegetables, and sauces you want for a stir fry and then chefs cook it for you on a hibachi grill. Think Beni Hana or Booki de bepo (sp?) except you get unlimited. For me, I had gotten there late; but I was able to eat two bowls of stir fry with brown rice; in addition to, one that I got to-go in a take-out box. read more

I'm so totally comparing right now - it's not the best. I am used to having the Mongolian BBQ at the malls out in California. This has nothing on that. But I'm giving it 5 stars because the atmosphere is fun; the workers there, BBQ-ing & waitressing, were really friendly, borderline flirting but not in a "get off my man" type of flirt. I don't think I'll ever go back. Is the food good? Yeah, not bad. But the price! Geez, at least $16 or more for a fairly small plate of food and a drink. For the price, it is tempting to get the higher priced 'steak' that is fairly fatty. If you just get chicken, you are really getting ripped off. Want the salad bar? Extra. So here is what happened at BD's Mongolian grill in Hamburg. We sit down and our server brings us 3 bowls. I say we only need two because my fiancee isn't hungry. So my friend and I make our bowls. We are eating, The fiancee asks for a bite and has maybe 4 bites. The server says, "Hey guys, the manager saw you sharing a bowl we have to charge you for two". I said "She had 4 bites". "Doesn't matter" OK, I know rules are rules... however, this is no different than me eating my food out on the patio, fiancee showing up 10 minutes later and eating the left overs and them saying oh sorry, $15 more bucks because she ate the cold food on the table. Fast forward to the end of the meal when I ask to speak with the manager. The manager comes up and immediately accuses us of trying steal food from them. We are treated like children and are told that if we do not pay for both bowls (one of which is still empty on the table because we didn't make two bowls) they would call the police. They are literally talking about calling the cops on us in the middle of their dining room in front of other people. So now I am mad. The manager then tells us that he remembers specifically another server telling us before that there is no sharing and that we were liars. This is still in the middle of the dining room where the manager is being very rude and confrontational. This is a brand new manager by the way. I then ask to speak with someone with more experience because this is not how you treat customers. In walks manager two, who laughs in our face and tells us to pay or the cops will be called. This is over $15 dollars. I have the money, paying would be no problem. However, it's not about paying anymore. It is about being treated like a piece of garbage in a restaurant that I have been going to for years. So I now tell the manage I will only be paying for our one bowl and we are never coming back. Server brings us a check with both bowls and basically tells us sorry about your luck. I also asked the Manager Aaron to bring me something that says no sharing... came back empty handed. I will not be back and I encourage everyone else to think long and hard about giving your fiancee a bite of your BD's bowl, as it may cost you $15. read more

ok.. first off I hate giving someplace a bad review. Especially when it seems to be such a hit with many people. Maybe it was a bad day, but for whatever reason, this place is germ away from being on the news. The good... the food looked fresh and inviting, and the restrooms were clean and well stocked. the bad... It was not that busy yet the service was DISMAL. I had finished my meal BEFORE the fried rice came to my table and quite frankly, for shrimp fried rice it was darned plain and not too good. Reminded me of Safeway takeout. The food itself was ok, but at a mongolian bbq who's fault is it really when your meal is bad? Ok.. here is the part that makes this place a 1 star never going back sort of place. the tongs that you used to grab the meat, in this case chicken were absolutely SLIMY with raw chicken. And given that the tongs were at room temperature you have a tailor made situation for cross contamination and food borne illness. So if you go today, please note that unless they have cleaned everything there IS raw chicken/meat on every single thing you touch up there. read more

I did notice they gave a vegetarian a hard time when they cooked her food since they had to clean off the surface of the hot plate which I thought was awkward and I'm sure she felt uncomfortable. read more

They have serious cross contamination issues. I witnessed one of the cooks touch my almost cooked food, touch someone else's uncooked food (containing meat), then go back to mine. As a result, I was very sick an hour afterwards and for the next 12 hours. I will never be back there again. read more

This wasn't the first BD's I've been to, but it was just as good as the others. While in town on business I told some coworkers how good this place is and I crossed my fingers. It was just as good as I had remembered, with great rice, tortillas, fresh veggies and meats and seafood, plus watching the cooks shuffle around your food with your own sauces and spices, on the big grill.
