My husband and I came here 10 years ago on our honeymoon and revisited with our now two kids while we were visiting Oceanside. We loved it both times. The food is delish and the portions are huge! My husband loves the chicken fried steak and I tried the loaded potato pancakes and both were great. My son loved the Mikey mouse pancake as well. The menu has something for everyone, the service was friendly and fast and the decor is beach themed and really fun to look at. We will come back if in the area! read more

I've been here some time ago, but returned today with family for breakfast. It was busy per usual. We waited for about 20 min, so not too bad. Parking can be in their lot behind their building vs on the street (no charge). Ambience is very surfer/beach city vibes, casual. The service was good. Some items come out with full portions while others are smaller. The veggie scramble was definitely on the smaller side with a LOT of potatoes... Chicken steak was just OK, nothing specatular. Luckily there were tortillas on the side of my veggie scramble to fulfill my appetite. Mahi mahi was OK- some areas were salty while others were really bland. read more

Excellent food and service! It was a busy Saturday morning but we got sat in like 20 minutes. Love that they have a large waiting area. Their coffee is delicious. I had the corned beef hash and pancakes. Talk about plentiful. My wife had the huevos rancheros and waffle. She moved hers as well. The server was great. Cute little spot in Bird Rock for a fresh juice. The juices are made daily (not to order) and service is great, the lady at the counter was very sweet. They also have some food and snack options and tables outside with games. Parking can be tricky but that goes with the area and we still found a spot right out front on a sunny weekend! read more

This place was so good! Great food excellent portions. Our server- Hispanic woman- was also a doll!! We also saw multiple older people come in who were clearly regulars sit at the counter with us - the staff here were so kind and warm it made me emotional because I could tell how much it meant to the regulars. Went on a Sunday morning around 9am and there was a wait (expected). But we sat on the countertops so the wait wasn't too long! Food was good, portions huge, and the biscuits tasted more like a scone texture than an actual fluffy biscuit I'm used to. This was the cutest breakfast spot. Our server was top notch! She was attentive and sweet. She communicated with us throughout the meal to ensure we were taken care of, coffee was always hot and full, and all needs were met. This is a staple for any locals with beach vibes for tourists to enjoy too. Some of the pictures featured are locals, but there are also pieces to showcase the Oceanside museum down the street. The staff is all friendly and they work together well to make sure food comes out fast, correct, and ask if anything else is needed before you get some private time to enjoy your meal. This is a spot where we rarely order outside our favorites since their corned beef hash is real corned beef- nothing out of a can here! Upgrade to a side pancake instead of toast and never miss their homemade, super moist coffee cake. read more

First time here, The vibe was cool, but the food was not that great pancakes were very chewy like they added too much flour in the mix. The eggs were undercooked a bit and the only highlight was the sausage that was good. The place is big. A lot of people very cold though so our food got cold very fast When we first got there they gave us plates that were dirty and had to request clean ones. read more

We stopped by on our drive from LA to SD. It was a great breakfast place to stop get food and take a break. It was a cute little cafe with a beach theme and photos of surfers that the kids loved to look at. Our service was great and she recommended some great options. My husband said the chicken fried steak was the best he's ever had and my son loved the biscuits and gravy. My daughter and I liked the banana crunch French toast. Overall it was a great experience. I absolutely love the surf theme and everything going on inside this restaurant. It really reminds me of places back at home. My husband, my friend and I all got different items but thoroughly enjoyed our food. We all got scrambles. For the price, the portion size is absolutely extreme!!!! Terrible communication from the hostess. They'll put your name down, seat others before you, then change the rules up when you finally give them a "what's going on" look. Long time customer, love the corned beef, I truly believe it's the best around. I'll be searching for a new spot as the customer service is currently in the toilet. read more

A surf themed diner by locals and a great place for locals to know. Their breakfast menu has all your favorite breakfast diner scrambles, omelets, pancakes, but also acai bowls and huevos rancheros. We ordered Zell's scramble and Denver scramble (no cheese) with country potatoes and biscuits. They give you an option of butter or gravy for the biscuits. I love honey and butter on my biscuits, which are super yummy biscuits. Their coffee creamer comes in a little kettle. Service was great, friendly, and all smiles. read more

Wait time is not bad for a busy Saturday. It was raining and they accommodated us to be seated inside rather than the patio. Service is great. Everyone is great. Great food. We enjoyed everything. Bottom Line Up Front - YES! The food was excellent I really enjoyed the hot and fresh coffee cake. The seafood omelet was amazing! And coffee stayed hot and topped off. The price point for value was what you would expect. I really enjoyed looking at all of the really cool surfing memorabilia. It made for a unique dining experience. Service lagged a bit because they were packed, but the server made up for it with her friendliness. Host was kind as well. I loved all the surfboard decor, football playing on the tv, the fact that the girls bathroom has stalls and was clean! & the food, 10/10! I got the chicken fried steak and it was cooked perfectly, might just need extra gravy, the salsa is chunky and spicy, delish. Hubs got the French toast & biscuits and gravy which was also very good. My 3yr old demolished his Mickey pancake, and my daughter ate all her chili & avocado toast. & don't even get me started on the coffee cake!! The ambiance is great and it's nice to have a beach view. The food took a while to be served...about 30 minutes. The food was pretty tasty, but the waffles were cold by the time they arrived at our table. The service was a bit disappointing although the servers were friendly. Surf's up at Beach Break Cafe! This cafe at the corner has its own private lot and serves up some delicious breakfast and brunch items all while patrons dine surrounded by surfing memorabilia. The surfing culture is strong here as you're engulfed by surf boards, magazines, posters and artwork. It's a beautiful space to dine. The service is also phenomenal. We were greeted from the time we entered and checked on throughout the service. Smiles are abundant here! The food was also prepared well and tasted delicious. Coffee cake - We made sure to order the infamous coffee cake and we were not disappointed. It was sweet, warmed, and moist - everything you'd want from a coffee cake. Great execution and presentation. Awesome omelette - As the name suggests, it is awesome! It's full of ingredients and with a side of hash browns, it's filling! Biscuits and gravy - moist fluffy biscuits always pair well with gravy. It's comfort food! Mickey Mouse pancake - it's cute and big for a three year old but light on the sugar makes it less of a guilty pleasure. The face is a bit sad due to the bareness and probably could use a side of fruit or something. Breakfast classics - eggs were cooked perfectly and we were fans of the bacon. Overall, Beach Break Cafe gives you that much needed break from the weekday hustle and sets you up for a nice relaxing day. Enjoy a coffee or juice with your meal to cap it off and if you're able to finish all that food, you'll be needing a nice nap on the beach, which is literally just across the street. read more

Came here for breakfast with the family before starting day 1 at Legoland. This is a good place to fuel up for a long day of walking as the portions they give you are quite large. I got the Greek scramble while my husband got the Chile Verde omelette. Both were delicious and the protein in the dish helped to fill us up. Like most breakfast spots, you get a couple of sides with your meal. However, here at Beach Break, you get to choose from more nonstandard sides, such as a coffee cake, a potato pancake, or biscuits, in addition to the more standard options like toast, breakfast potatoes, and hash browns. Between the two of us, we got the potato pancake, biscuits, coffee cake, and breakfast potatoes. You can get the potato pancake loaded with cheese and sour cream (which we did), and the biscuits with gravy (which we did not, given we already had such a decadent meal in front of us). The food was delicious, savory, warm, hearty, comfort food that was all well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The biscuits here are made from scratch, which I really liked. The coffee cake was very cinnamony and paired great with the coffee, although I could have gone without the glaze that they drizzle on top. Our kids split a pancake and a side of bacon and devoured the whole thing. They ended up taking our biscuits as well. All in all, everyone very much enjoyed the meal here. read more

I always want to stay and catch up with friends or bring my laptop to do some work, and they never make me feel rushed. Truly one of my favorite coffee shops in North County and in SD in general. The buffalo chicken sandwich is hands down the best around, and you can't go wrong with their burgers or pizzas either. Everything I've had has been consistently delicious. They're also incredibly dog-friendly, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, so I always know I'm going to be comfortable, happy, and well-fed. Parking is surprisingly easy too--even on busy PCH, I've always managed to find a spot either on the street or in their small lot. Green Cheek took over the previous space beautifully and has truly made it their own. I have no doubt this will be an Oceanside staple for many years to come. Five stars all the way!

Both were fantastic, but the shrimp taco absolutely stole the show. I'd happily start a fan club for that taco. Then there was the Mango Tajín beer...tangy, sweet, spicy, refreshing, and basically summer in a glass. Whoever thought of putting those flavors together deserves a high five. The ordering is easy cafeteria-style, but don't panic--you don't have to awkwardly balance a tray while searching for a table. Just order, grab a seat, and they'll bring everything to you. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, it's dog-friendly (major points), and parking was surprisingly painless. Great tacos, fun drinks, easy parking, and dogs are welcome? That's what I call a quadruple threat. I'll definitely be back...mostly because I'm pretty sure that shrimp taco and I have unfinished business.

I had very high expectations of this place due to it's popularity on here. However, I am sad to say that I was alittle let down: When we first got in on Sunday morning, the waiting area was busy but not too busy. The nice middle aged gentleman who was doing the waitlist accommodated for our party of three and was very welcoming and offered us the free coffee while we waited. This was a very nice start. The decor is beautiful, surf and beach themed throughout- and skateboards aligning the walls, well done! The bamboo was beautiful. Our name was finally called about 20 minutes after the gentleman put our name down and we were walked to our table. Here's when things took a turn for the worse. Our server was in a world of her own, barely even looking us in the eyes before she ran off to go chat it up with the other servers around the counter area as she took forever to pour three glasses of water and an orange juice. Although she was nice, she was not very attentive and we kept having to ask everytime we needed something. We ordered our food probably 10 minutes after we sat and that was one of the only plus sides to this situation. We were sat close to the counter at a little table in the middle. My husband and I noticed that our food that we ordred was all done for about 5 minutes before the little brunette girl picked up the plates and brought them to us one by one. After all the plates were set she turned around to run back to the counter but we stopped her to tell her to ask us to refill our waters and she said to us syllable by syllable: "Im not a server, I just run food." GASP! We knew she wasn't our server, we are not blind or stupid, and we have all worked in a restaurant before- but it is her job as an employee there to do the little things for the restaurant, such an easy task to just simply fill some water cups! Needless to say, the server came walking by a few seconds later and we had to stop her to ask her to fill up our cups as well. This time she did it, with no attitude or ridiculous remarks. After that, we were all kinda turned off. Even though we had plates full of food and full water cups, we just could not get out of there sooner. The food was nothing spectacular althought my husbands corned beef hash was quite notable. Coffee Cake and coffee was yummy too. The tip we left was for the nice gentleman at the host stand, the cooks who made our food, and the bussers who cleaned up after us. Sad to think any of it went to that careless "not our server" girl. I have been coming to Beach Break for ten years now and it breaks my heart to have to write this review...But I do it out of the goodness of my heart to believe the owners (Zell amd Gary, Mitchell and harrison) will improve these situations and make Beach Break Cafe what is once was! I come in atleast once a month and the past two times I have come in the host has failed to greet me or even acknowledge my presence, but instead has her head down looking on her cellphone! After I had to say hello to her, she looks up at me and continues to be rude to me like i Interrupted her! This is not how service works.... The wait is always hefty but I know this and usually it is worth the wait.. But lately it has not been. The food is coming out very basic and the only thing that really stands out to me anymore is the coffe cake!. The servers are Alyways a hit or miss- some of them being rude and unfriendly. Kristy is our favorite! She is always so kind and caring. We always have a smile on our faces when we see her come to our table. The food comes out quickly but sometimes one plate will come out a whole ten minutes before the last one comes out and I would much rather all of it be under the heat still than sitting and getting cold waiting at the table for the others food. THe last time I went there the waitres was in such a hurry she set our check down before she even asked how our food was! I get that its a busy restaurant but service is service and if you are going to work for a restaurant that ahs always been exceptional then you have to keep up the name and be friendly with each and every table you have! Its your JOB! We love this place but we ar taking a break from it for some time and hoping when we choose to come in again after we get over the last horrible experiences that it is back to the lovely family ran restaurant it always has been! I was on vacation with my family when we went here and I might just be moving to Carlsbad just so I could have breakfast here 4-5 times a week. There's so many good places to eat out here that I'm surprised people in Carlsbad look so healthy. I'd be in desperate need of a mobility scooter if I lived here. How does this place not have a full 5 star rating!?! We had 6 people in my party, each one of us ordering something different, and every single one of us would absolutely give this place a 5. I feel kind of silly bringing up how amazing the corned beef hash is, but it really is that good. And I order corned beef hash pretty much every time I see it on the menu. I know not to order it from certain places because you're just going to get that fresh out of the can ridiculousness. But this is hands down the best hash I have ever had by far. Huge chunks of meat mixed with the perfect amount of potatoes and onions. And you know you have to order the eggs over easy so the yolk could ooze into the dish and complete the deliciousness set in front of you. The entire plate is stacked high too and even though I was convinced I'd never be able to eat that whole thing I wiped my plate clean with the best sourdough toast outside of San Francisco. I visit Carlsbad from the East Coast a few times a year, and whenever I'm in town, I always make a point of going to Beach Break Cafe, it's become a must-visit tradition! The breakfast here is outstanding: high-quality ingredients, generous portions, and all at a very reasonable price. The ambiance is excellent, lively and buzzing with energy, perfectly capturing that classic Southern California surfer vibe. But what truly stands out is the incredible, friendly service. The real test of great service is how the team handles a hiccup, and on my most recent visit, they absolutely shone. An accident in the kitchen left my steak overcooked, so I mentioned it to our server, Colin. The way he handled it was exemplary, he turned what could have been a disappointment into a positive experience that made me even more eager to return! I genuinely believe any server there would have responded with the same care and professionalism. Parking can be a bit limited in the lot, but there's always plenty available on the adjacent street, no big deal at all. Me and the family and I just got back from vacation in Oceanside, Ca (2 adults with 2 adult children). I CAN NOT believe that we did not know about this restaurant sooner! We've been vacationing here for many years and discovered it while yelping some fun local places to eat at. First, this place is a BUSY breakfast place. Our first meal there was mid week and we only waited 10 minutes, same with the second day, but on the weekend we were quoted 45 and this was very accurate. The awesome thing about waiting in this restaurant is that there is not only a ton of indoor seating but they offer coffee and hot chocolate for free. Its serve yourself in miss matched mugs and really makes you feel like you're at an old friends house. Very welcoming. Second, the entire staff is AMAZING!! You really feel like you're a regular and one of the family. Something my whole family noticed was that the general attitude of people in Oceanside is so much better than other places we've visited and even live. The staff is outstanding. The meal was satisfactory, however, the service was severely lacking. The eggs I had ordered were not as requested, and it took an extended period of 15 minutes for the corrected order to arrive. By the time I received the rectified dish, I had nearly completed my meal. I was compelled to seek assistance from another server as our designated server was absent. Regrettably, our server only checked on our table once and neglected to refill our coffee cups. The service was so deficient that we had to request assistance from another server to obtain boxes and our bill. Subsequently, our original server presented us with our bill, and we provided our card for payment. Upon reviewing the transaction, we discovered that she had erroneously charged our card for an additional check amounting to $100 more than our actual bill. Fortunately, we promptly identified the error, but our server was nowhere to be found to rectify the situation. Consequently, we had to seek the intervention of the manager, who promptly resolved the issue. Nevertheless, the overall experience was profoundly disappointing. read more

Food is amazing here, Have been coming here since it was the little cafe down the street. However, very disappointed in the new people the owners have working for them. The hostess was not friendly when we walked in. The owners son soon made us feel better like always, so we gave the hostess the benefit of the doubt. We finally sat (wait is always way too long now).. We are excited that this place is gaining the recgonition Zell Gary and their boys deserve. Food was excellent and perfectly cooked as always. Unfortunately we had a very young girl as our server and she did not know quite what she was doing . Had to ask for water refills 3 times before they came. She did not apologize, instead she acted like we were bothering her with this simple request. She did not ask us how our food was. We saw her chatting and laughing with another waitress most the time while we were trying to get her attention to bring us our check, We did not feel welcome. read more

Sears Carpet and Upholstery Care (San Diego, CA) I've always trusted Sears(Proper) to clean my carpets, and this time was no exception. Technicians Jason Hogue and Alexis Ortiz came to my home and cleaned several areas with high foot traffic. White carpet is difficult to clean, but Jason and Alexis to the time to pre-treated the areas and circle back with their heavy-duty extractor to remove all of the dirt. Jason evaluated ripples in the carpet and came to the determination that the install was done poorly. He included his evaluation in the final bill so that I could seek remedy from the contractor. I can't thank the guys enough for the work they've done today, but would certainly have them back for the next cleaning. They were courteous and considerate and above they were on time and worked quickly to complete the job. Thanks again Jason and Alexis!!!! read more

A friend told me about this place so we stopped by this morning. Sure enough, there was a decent number of people waiting outside the small restaurant. They had a coffee cart outside and the weather was perfect so it made the wait a breeze. I especially liked the "on your honor" sign posted by the thermos. They charge you for the coffee once you're seated (you get to pick your own mug too - mine had a Far Side comic on it). I ordered the ABC omelette, but decided to get it it scrambled. It came with choice of two sides. I decided on the crispy hashbrowns and coffee cake (heard this is what they are known for). All three things were winners. Only bad thing was I got full way too early. Hate that. Service was prompt and pleasant and it looked like there were a lot of locals that hang out there. Can't wait to go back! read more

I've been here a few times with family and it's always been a great experience! Sometimes there is a bit of a wait for a table but they have a nice waiting area, and once even brought us cups of coffee while we waited. The thing that prompted me to write a review was that last week my wife and I had a good lunch here, then walked out to the parking lot. As we were about to get in the car our server came running out to give me my sunglasses that I had left on the table! I'm sure that most servers would have just held onto them in the restaurant or put them in the lost and found in case we came back looking for them, but she made sure I didn't leave without them. Even though they are a cheap pair of sunglasses and I wouldn't have missed them too much, she showed great five star service. read more

Best omelette I've ever had hands down. Loved my chile verde omelette! I've learned after many, many restaurants of all types that asking for a suggestion from the server doesn't always pan out. After all, everyone has their own preferences. I may ask for an opinion and they are vegetarian while I am not for example. A common response from servers that use to irk me for example is "it depends what you feel like". Ugh, can you be any less help? Well, I've resorted to choosing 3 things that "I feel like" and letting the server decide. In this case my new process worked! One of my selections was the spicy chicken omelette highlighted in any yelp reviews but instead the server was very convincing that the chile verde is their best omelette. Yum-o was he right...fabulous. read more

My mother and I came here for brunch yesterday on Tuesday morning. There was a little bit of a wait so we put our names down and went outside to wait. The young girl had quoted us about 10 minutes, not too bad. However, after about 20 minutes I went up to ask how much longer we had and our name was not on the wait list at all. The young girl seemed as if she didnt know how to handle the situatuon, and without getting an apology, she finally wrote my name down and quoted me another 10 minutes. Hooray! We finally got our names called (after 15 more minutes). I would advise some extra attention to the wait list and who is handling it. Food was wonderful, love the corned beef hash! Coffee cake is always a good idea. I will be coming back, hopefully this doesnt happen again! read more

i called this office prior to schedule an appointment since I had not established a home dentist yet. I had lots of budgetary questions. Their office manager, & staff were quick to understand the basis of my questions - which amounted to managing health care like one manages there home. In this time of managing all cogs on the machine they were exemplary!!! I received a treatment plan with my priorities. Since I travel a great deal being out of the country becomes a factor in getting care before leaving. The office was pleasant in decor, the Doctor methodical and detailed of my prognosis. The hygienist was able to fit me in straight away. She was funny yet extremely thorough! Loved my decision to go to this office - great choice so far!! Thank you again, Alecia. read more

If you want to find an amazing Pork Belly Benedict, look no further. Lately when I have been craving pork belly, I immediately head to Beach Break. The employees are amazing, efficient and fast. Which really helps since this establishment is always busy. There are so many other thing to try as well. On a busy Saturday I like to place an order togo. Skip the lines but still get the same great food. Last Saturday while I was there; one of the sons gave me the history of the restaurant and family who owns it. Really nice guy I believe his name was Mitch. Favorite part about this place is it feels like the nostalgic diners I grew up with. A place that makes you feel better then when you come in! read more

It is really hard to find parking. If you have a dog and come in the back patio way it is an awkward wait for your table because there is nowhere to wait other than parking lot. Tried this place finally after hearing about it every now and then. I had the country fried steak and my husband had the crunchy french toast. Mine was pretty good and I would order it again if I was in the mood for that. My husband said his was interesting and he would try something else next time if we were to return. Mine came with a side of coffee cake that had a frosting on it and drizzled all over plate. It was good and sugary reminded me a bit of a Cinnabun. read more

I went for my birthday in March this year with my dad and I heard great things about this place so I thought I'd check it out. I'm so glad I did! Usually, my dad prefers Dennys because that's his favorite place but even he enjoyed the food hear which is really saying something.I definitely plan on coming back sometime soon. I ordered the Eggs Benedict which turned out to be very delicious and filling. My dad ordered the country fried steak. They both came out wonderful. Great sauce on the EB. The food here is excellent, I wasn't expecting the food to be as good as it was to be honest. The wait time isn't the worst or the best, I went on a busy Sunday morning with my husband and we waited about 10 minutes, I've definitely had worse wait times for food that wasn't as good. I had chocolate chip pancakes and they were about the size of my face! I couldn't even finish half of my serving and for the price I don't think there is a breakfast spot in north San Diego and I would recommend this place to anyone who like places like ihop or Denny's. It feels a lot more local and the food just blows them out of the water. read more

The Blue Dream was refreshing and gets its pretty blue hue from pea flower. For breakfast we had the Mediterranean omelette and replaced the potatoes with sweet potato hash. The omelette was packed with fresh vegetables and sweet potato hash was thinly sliced with onions and red peppers. Scrumptious. The lemon ricotta pancakes were topped with strawberries and served with a raspberry jam and maple syrup. I would have liked them to be more fluffy, but they were tasty and the lemon came through. We appreciated that the person who took our food order gave an estimated wait time for food to be brought out as it was busy, but it came out sooner than anticipated, and we never felt that we were sitting and waiting for too long.

I'm glad I looked at the menu online the day before, because the menu is extensive, has a lot of heavier meals that I normally don't eat, and I could take my time finding the right meal. We ordered from the Lunch & Dinner Menu. My friend ordered from the Senior Meals section: corn chowder soup and Meatloaf with Gravy. I ordered from the Burgers section: a Veggie Burger and a side of sweet potato fries. The Veggie Burger comes with lettuce, avocado, tomato, onion and mayo on the side, which allowed me to build my Veggie Burger exactly the way I want it. My friend loved his meal, and I loved mine. My boyfriend even said his meal tasted better than food from his usual favorite local cafe, so we will definitely be coming back. The only issue was service at the beginning. We were seated outside in the corner and seemed to be forgotten after our drink order. We still had menus on the table, while nearby tables that were seated after us had already ordered and received their food. We eventually had to flag someone down to place our food order. It was nice to be outside, since the weather was beautiful. Once we ordered, though, the food came out very quickly. The food was excellent enough that we will return--we'll just make sure to wave someone down sooner next time.
