My review is way overdue, since I had been going to Dr. Tehrani for about 16 years. So here we go: Dr. Tehrani by far was the best dentist I have ever met in life. I was traumatized by bad experiences and did not see a dentist for almost 9 years before I met Dr. Tehrani, imagined all the dental mess I had at that point (abscess, root canal, fillings.....you name it). He was extremely patient and kind with my fear and step by step fixed all my dental issues. He's always very honest, open and positive about the condition of my teeth, never at any point making me feel guilty or fearful. I even took his advice gotten braces and I have never been happier with my teeth. My husband and son have been going to him too! I am forever grateful for a dentist like him. read more

The worst dental experience I have had in at least 15 years. I will NOT be coming back! Dr. Tehrani claimed I needed a $900+ "Deep Cleaning" but after getting a second opinion today and speaking with my regular dentist no one thought a "Deep Cleaning" was necessary. My wife who was also getting her teeth cleaned that day as well received a more thorough cleaning than myself. Dr. Tehrani didn't even use floss during my cleaning. I am now forced to schedule another cleaning with my regular dentist to complete the unfinished work. This was also disturbing, Dr. Tehrani tried to sell my wife on a CPAP solution that he offers even though she does not have sleep apnea and he is not a physician. Lastly, while talking about Dr. Tehrani refusal to perform a future "Standard" cleaning he told me that "He knew better than me" and did want to listen to my point of view regarding my future budget possibilities concerning a "Deep Cleaning". Please think twice before using this dentist. One additional word of warning - This dentist threatens it's clients with a $80+ fee if the client does NOT cancel an appointment within 48 hours of the appointment. This is an unlawful practice in the state of California. Update! - So this how Dr. Tehrani responded to my review on his website and my comments are here for clarity. "Aaron, You were referred to me by a wonderful long time patient of ours. You said that someone bought the practice from your previous dentist and you did not like the new dentist. So you really did not have a regular dentist." - I did not say any of this to Dr Tehrani. In fact he asked me very little about my previous Dentist. Although Dr Tehrani response here is right in line with the dismissive bedside manner he exhibited during my visit. "...As far as your wife's case, I reviewed some symptoms and I said that if she thought she had any of them that I had to refer her. I'm supposed to do that and that is my professional obligation." - I'm going to leave this one to my wife's Yelp since she was the one who felt awkward about a diagnosis/CPAP sales pitch combo. "...In your case, you told me the issue ran in your family and that this issue was discussed with you by other dentists." - That was about all the information Dr Tehrani asked me and this is where he started to loose me as his diagnosis seemed pretty far off base compared to my regular Dentist. "...You just did not want to follow recommendations." - I explained to Dr Tehrani several times that we didn't have dental insurance at the time so a $900+ elective procedure was out of the question. 'Want' wasn't the issue. "...I did the same cleaning for your wife that I did for you." After I compared notes with my wife, clearly Dr Tehrani did NOT. "...In fact you asked to come back in six months and do it again. Until I said no to you and your behavior all of a sudden changed." - So this is totally out of sequence or Dr Tehrani didn't understand that after he said "I really shouldn't clean your teeth" early on in the visit I was none too pleased with him. The ONLY reason I stayed any longer in his office was to get my teeth "Cleaned". I responded to his statement with "EXCUSE ME, Can you explain?". He did not explain, He simply stated he was now going to "Clean" my teeth. At the end of the "Cleaning", I asked Dr Tehrani a question to clarify his earlier statement "If I was able to either get dental insurance or be able to afford the deep cleaning in 12 month, would he perform my standard 6 month cleaning?" I got a resounding "NO" and not an ounce of understanding for my financial situation. So I told Dr Tehrani "We have nothing further to talk about". "...So there was nothing wrong with the cleaning you received." - I don't see how this proves anything? Well other than his dismissive bedside manner. "...I'm a trained dentist with 20 years of experience. I gave a you a good example about your case while you were here and we did have this discussion at my office. If you are asking me to do something that would be harmful to you, I will refuse even if that makes you write a negative review." - I don't know what to say here other than Dr Tehrani is being defensive about the factual account of my visit. I didn't ask him to do something harmful. NO ONE thinks a good 6 month cleaning is a harmful procedure and it's just unprofessional to say so. - Dr Tehrani finished up by trying to defend his unlawful cancelation policy but I will spare you. Personally, if a dentist needs to rely on a threat to get clients to show up to an appointment... It's a RED flag! To recap - I will NOT be going back and I hope you find this review helpful! I was recently referred to dr Tehrani by a friend. From the moment I entered, I was greeted by the receptionist. There was no wait, just the time it took me to fill out the forms. This is very unusual because my previous dentist had long wait times. Dr T spent a lot of time explaining my condition and what had to be done to move forward. The hygienist was great. This was the best cleaning I've had in a long time. Few appointments later and my teeth feel great and healthy again. The office is clean and the equipment looks new. I highly recommend this office. Currently just started braces with their orthodontist. No more Hassle of having to go to different offices since they have a specialist for all the different specialties. I think I gave this office a five star review last time and if there were a sixth star, I would give that as well. My visit was for cleaning. The Hygienist, and I wish I could remember her name, was above all, concerned for me and my pearly whites. Even though my 70 year old teeth have some issues, she inspected, cleaned, and polished with great care and thoroughness. She explained the need for me to pay particular attention to certain areas of my gums and encouraged me to keep using my Waterpik in lieu of floosing. read more

Hands down, Dr Tehrani is the best dentist that I have ever been to. If I could give 6 stars, I would. Both my wife and I goto him for our dentist. Dr Tehrani is a very technically skilled dentist with a great demeanor with his patients. He has tons of experience in dentistry and knows the best way to fix your dental issues. Any soreness that I may have had from treatments, goes away quickly. He also tells you exactly what he is doing every step of the way, which I very much appreciate. Not only is Dr Tehrani a great dentist, but he is also a great person. He sincerely cares for his patients, which is hard to find these days. When he heard that my father had passed, Dr Tehrani called me to personally pass on his condolences. That level of care for patients is unmatched. Always felt like I was going to see old friends when I had an appointment. He never pushes or "sells" his patients to pursue any treatments that are not necessary. There may be other options available, but doing those is compound to you, no pressure. He patiently walks his patients through the pros and cons of every treatment option in detail, which is great. Additionally, there is also an orthodontist associated with his office that comes in once a month, so that is super convenient too if you need that. The entire staff is great too, from the hygienists to Kelly in the front office, they will take care of you. I never had to wait more than 5 minutes for an appointment and they were always able to squeeze me in, if needed. Parking can sometimes be challenging on the top level due to Kaiser, but I have always found a space in the downstairs lot, when needed. I cannot recommend this dentist enough!! read more

Perhaps it was the unsettling experience I had with our last dentist who's office manager made one feel like a used wash cloth wadded up in the corner of some dark motel room outside Vegas, but our first visit with Dr. Terrani was outstanding! Going into a dental office with 3 kids is daunting and the staff not only went out of their way to accommodate us, they made the experience fun. I have been a patient of Dr. Tehrani for over a decade. I have had fillings, crowns, root canals, and two implants. Finally, I have seen the light and floss my teeth religiously. I also have a hygienist appointment every 4 months to get a grip on dental issues. For several years I have seen a wonderful hygienist at Beach Cities Dentistry. I was concerned to learn she had left Dr. Tehrani's office due to maternity leave (congratulations Samarya!). She knew what a dental chicken I have always been and helped me combat my fears. My recent appointment with the new hygienist, Michelle, was perfect. She was very professional in greeting me and quickly put me at ease. She was thorough and efficient and did not cause me any discomfort. Dr. Tehrani checked me out and we were three happy participants in my procedure. I must also thank Dr. Tehrani and his staff (thank you Kelly!) for all of the safety precautions they use. this office is so great the girls are really nice and friendly. the Dr is amazing and very patient with my Winnie self. Place is always clean, staff always chipper and friendly, they make great use of technology to help remind you of your appointments (text, email, phone). They work with you if it's a financing issue, and seem to be about as patient as any dentist I've ever been to. They never seem rushed, or overbooked, - they have evenings available if you need that, I can't say enough good stuff about them and that is a lot coming from someone like me who can be difficult to please. I have been a patient of Dr. Tehrani's for about 8 years, after moving from my dentist of 22 years from the west side. The move had to do with needing someone closer to my home, when my children were little. I found myself extremely lucky to have found a quality dentistry in my own backyard. Dr. Tehrani is a true professional. He also "saved me" during a dentai emergency a few years ago. Dr. Tehrani and his entire team are warm and friendly. His dental hygenists are very personable and do a thorough job. The office is clean, well run, and the scheduling is seamless...No wait time although they are busy. Please beware when visiting this office. The front office confirmed my insurance coverage for my procedure. Months later, they informed me that they do not accept my insurance and forced me to pay $500 out of pocket for a cleaning. This was after they verified the amount of coverage and set up future appointments based on the next allocation of insurance coverage. After being provided a written Good Faith Estimate by Dr. Tehrani for dental work to be completed, he later billed us an amount over 500% ABOVE his initial estimate. This difference made the amount we "owed" literally THOUSANDS of dollars above his initial estimate. Upon contacting him daily to discuss, he refused to return telephone calls and asked his receptionist to tell us he was "out today" or "at lunch" or "with patients" and unavailable to speak to us. Once we finally tracked him down, he indicated that due to a "computer glitch" the error in his estimate had been made, and he was not willing to take responsibility for the error. We disputed further, and he would not budge. We even offered him a settlement amount (which, by the way would still pay him several hundred dollars ABOVE the amount of his initial estimate), and he refused, calling us "crazy" and telling us to "think long and hard about what you are doing." Our Opinion - this is a dentist to avoid if you're looking for honest and credible business dealings, and adequate customer service including return telephone calls. read more
