Way too slow. Food is consistent from other locations, but was frustrated that an internet order was 30+ min past the expected pick up time.

This is the third time I've came here in over a year and the staff is very nice and all but to was this food down you'd like to have a drink, but no the have very minimal drink selection, then when you ask them about it they say there out. Went in today at the location in Davis to get the Beach Bites and the Marley Nachos.. Not satisfied one bit. The Presentation was crap on the nachos, looked like they just threw it on top and called it a day. As for the Beach Bites it was just as or even more disappointing.. Not sure how someone can screw up garlic bread and marinara sauce. Bread was soft and soggy by the time I got home. Had to throw it out. Over All won't be spending my hard earned money at this place ever again or recommending it to anyone. read more

I tried this place for the first time while out Christmas shopping. I came in at noon and the place was super crowded. This location just recently opened so I was surprised to see it basically packed. There were probably 75% men which made me wonder what "man food" was being offered. Then I saw the sandwich sizes and I understood the draw for guys. The large sandwiches are huge! I tried a Pig Kahuna which was really good. BBQ pork with a kick and fresh pineapple chunks. It was sweet and savory and very filling! There were at least five TVs tuned to various sports channels. Some of the booths had a flat screen tv in the and the tiki bar had a tv as well. I can see how this place might attract a heavily male crowd. They also have one of the new coke machines that allow you to customize your drinks by tapping a menu screen before dispensing. Even though I've seem them at a few places now, I'm still sucked in by the "new fangled gadget" even though I don't drink soda. The inside was clean and decorated in the beach hut theme. There were about four booths a few small tables and a large tiki bar. I think there was outside seating, but not certain as it was a windy blustery day and I didn't hang around outside. I'm looking forward to coming back to try some of the other specialty sandwiches and washing it down with a beer. read more

I went here after work for a quick bite to eat and a drink with coworkers. I didn't know that they carried beers on tap. They let us try beers before we decided our order. I appreciated this, since I wasn't sure what to order. I chose a pomegranate hard cider and we shared cheese bread. read more

My wife and I just stopped in here today unexpectedly...we just wanted someplace to grab a quick bite. We had never been to Beach Hut before and I was a little hesitant because sandwich shops to me are...well...Subway and Togos and I wasnt really in the mood to feel like I was grabbing lunch during a workday. Much to our surprise the food was GREAT. We just ordered a bacon, avocado, alfalfa, cream cheese sandwich and split it between the two of us. It was so tasty and unique and just right. Its alot of $$ ($10) for a single medium sized sandwich...however enough for 2 people really. We sat out on the porch on a pretty warm day...nice patio lounge furniture. Nice if you dont mind sitting close to Highway 80 and the railroad. Great atmosphere inside and friendly staff too. Will definately go again. read more

Really, really good sammich! I had the "shark bite." if you like bbq, bacon with just a small kick of spice, this is your sandwich. The bacon was really crisp, which is a first experience for me in any deli. I'm used to getting soggy pre cooked bacon that you see at Costco. Not the case here! Cool decor, tv's everywhere, a ton of fountain drink options. I'll be back to try more of their menu. read more

So today, I went in, order my usual. I'm waiting. I'm waiting. I'm waiting... As I am waiting I notice the man at the cash register between customers is running his plastic gloved hand through his hair trying to maintain his "duck" Elvis style haircut while looking into the cash register. Ewww... Unsanitary to say the least! It's not that busy, The 3 behind the counter (two women, one male) are making the sandwiches are chit chatting, going in the back. Doing everything but making sandwiches. A woman who ordered after I did received her sandwich before mine. Hello! Where's my sandwich I ask? More waiting... Then I get my to go sandwich with a, "sorry it took so long". Seriously? This place is the worst as far as getting your meal in a timely manner. Food tastes good. But it is costly. I love this place. Great atmosphere, friendly people, good beers on tap, and great outstanding awesome sandwiches. Beach vibes chill you out, tables are surfboards. Sandwiches come out on frisbees. Plenty of tv's. There's an outdoor patio with couches and lots of cool flower pots. Oh and they have one of those new coke machines that's all touchscreen, let's you add cherry and vanilla and what not. A little pricey for sandwiches but not outrageous. read more

I went in to the Davis store to order two sandwiches a little while back. I watched the staff behind the counter making sandwiches with no gloves on. At one point one of the girls ran to the bathroom with her apron on, came back, ran her fingers through her hair and straightened her beanie then go straight to touching bread and meat without washing her hands. I know the other staff members noticed the disgust on my face. I haven't been back since. The sandwiches are good but they don't wear gloves. Very gross. read more

Longest wait ever for a salad and the restaurant was filthy. I waited over 15 minutes for my salad and they were not busy.

Was so hungry and excited to eat here. We got here a few min after 11, ordered our sandwiches and nachos. Paid and went to get our sodas, some of the options on the soda machine were not working. We just picked something else. We got our sandwiches quickly, but not the nachos, I went back up and he girl behind the counter said they didn't have nacho cheese did we want our money back??? I went checked the menu and decided on something else. We ate our sandwiches and waited finished our sandwiches and waited. We went back up to ask about our other order ... "Sorry, I forgot!!" That's what the girl behind the counter told us. So we got our money back instead. In the time we were sitting and eating our sandwiches, we witnessed 4 different groups of people walk in then back out, the people that came right after us, only a few got their food, then when we went outside to leave we were standing by our car and a gentlemen, came out asked us if we hadn't got our food either. We told him we got part. He said " well I didn't, I just said screw them!" He didn't get his money back, just left without his food! I guess we were the lucky ones, since we got some food! Their sandwiches put others to shame. Great place to watch your sports team or just hang out and enjoy a pint/ liter. Good beer selection (IPAs, local brews, etc). I can only assume from the 3+ star reviews I'm seeing here that I was unlucky and ordered the wrong thing. I would like to give this place the benefit of that doubt, but given the number of sandwiches on the menu that inexplicably include "cream cheese" as an ingredient, I'm not sure being so charitable is appropriate. Anyway, here's the deal: I ordered a 9" Cali Cheese Steak and it was a nightmare, even without the cream cheese (which, like any sane person ordering a hot sandwich, I asked them to leave out). First of all, let me describe my understanding of this monstrosity's construction. The eponymous "steak" in the sandwich was actually thin slices of roast beef swimming in a sour sort of salt bath (or "special savory marinade" if you go by the menu description). Perhaps most revolting of all, the cheese was not melted by grilling the entire sandwich; no, it was separately placed in a flimsy silicone bowl, microwaved, and then unceremoniously dumped on some toasted bread in the form of a greasy slurry*. By the time this whole assembly made it to the counter and my name was called, its temperature was "tepid" at best, but "indiscernibly warmer than room temperature" if I'm being honest. As a result, the unreasonably large mass of cheese had totally congealed. The bread itself might have been edible, but having been so thoroughly imbued with the acrid "marinade" and separated cheese oil, it was effectively mush, and I will never know for sure. Despite the Cali Cheese Steak's abhorrent appearance, I tried a bite. And then, for the first time in my food-buying life, I was unable to eat any more. It really was that bad. I was starving when I got to this place, and I'm really not a picky eater. I eat fast food when on the road and usually guiltily enjoy it. To add insult to injury, this whole debacle cost $15. For a high-end sandwich with thoughtfully chosen, quality ingredients, that would still be expensive. For this mess, it is, in fact, an insult. I didn't ask for a refund, because what could I say? "Yeah, I didn't realize how bad something could taste until you made this for me after I paid you money". I slunk away in disgrace and not without a bit of nausea. This has been a rant, and it made me feel better. I hope it will also prevent someone from ordering the same thing I did. I have nothing against the employees of this franchise, who as far as I can tell were politely doing their jobs as well as they could. If by chance a management-type person is reading this-- for God's sake, do something about your hot sandwiches. I can only imagine how disgusting they are with the cream cheese. To end on a positive note: I'd recommend people instead try the lunch options at the Davis Food Co-op. Infinitely tastier, and for that matter, at least half as expensive (I had their delicious take on a cheese steak today, for only $6). *to those Philadelphia fanatics who will rage that cheese whiz, though disgusting, is the only choice for cheese steaks: yes, I agree that somehow that works. Was looking forward to trying Beach Hut Deli because of the very good reviews. Walked in the door to this only statement from the staff-- "we ran out of bread". No hello, no offer of a coupon to entice me to come back. On an ordinary Saturday at 4 pm, (no big events in town) how does a deli run out of bread ? What can I say but call before you go to be certain they have bread, mayo, and maybe salt and pepper. WOW. The absolute best sandwich I have ever had. Everything was fresh. Loads of meat, and what makes this place special is that they put cream cheese on a lot of their specialty sandwiches and it's delicious. Good ambiance and parking as well. The sandwiches are delicious! The soda machine is very unique and there are so many choices for beverages it is almost overwhelming. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because they were very slow. The ordering process was easy enough, but once the order was placed it took about 15 minutes to get our sandwich. It truly is a work of art once you do receive your sandwich of choice :) The portions are huge and they should be. The food is pricy. $8.00 for a small sandwich that I could have split with my husband. So opt for small if you don't have a huge appetite. There are also 3 big screen TVs to glare at. So if that's not your thing you may want to pass this place by. It's a very small place for 3 large TVs and it can get loud with sports fans taking advantage of the free TV viewing. read more

I LOVE B.H.D., especially their new location in Davis, it so much brighter, roomier, easier to park and get to than the former location down town. The skinny Dipper is my favorite because it is so mouthwateringly phenomenal, its just rediculously good! They have a great beer selection, a fantastic patio and great specials. Some may complain about the price, but IMO-this is one of those cases where you get what you pay for. read more

NOT Open hours stated on website! Too bad. So sad! Website says that they are open until 10pm. They are not. Party girls at the front must've had another gig to get to. Arriving at 9:30pm after a long drive from San Jose, was really looking forward to a salad and bf was craving a hot sammie. This chain is horribly over priced and the customer service doesn't make the experience an enjoyable one. The staff all give different prices and are not on the same page. The people just don't know what they're doing and spend their time laughing and joking rather than hurrying on the sandwiches. They take a looooong time for sandwiches to be made with minimal people.
